  1. It depends. We could demand for gw1 or gw2 updates all we like, but unless it's headed and staffed by passionate workers, we're going to see substandard, disappointing and buggy work that will be justified with something like "players can't understand the hardships we go through because they're not in the industry", per industry standard.
  2. Idk, one of the fun things about magitech fantasy is that you can have people in high tech armour, steampunk, robes, buttcapes, trenchcoats, edgy metal plate, tight leather or even peasant clothing that resembles modern clothing.
  3. TBF, I'd actually like Burning and Bleeding to have "conditions" attatched to them BEYOND DOT damage. Similar to how I'd like to see "Cripple" get something that makes it more than a worse "Chilled".
  4. Mmo's are boring without guilds or active friends. I tend to bounce mmo's when my guilds die and I stop meeting cool people to hang out with. Maybe that could be your issue too?
  5. Personally, what makes GW2 so hard for me is that it's a relatively fast paced game with little to no indication of enemy npc abilities besides "coloured circle on ground" and sometimes "bullet hell". Something you don't have to worry about in personal story, at least. What REMOVES all difficulty from the game is that you can just fight and respawn until all the enemies are dead, because very few story-related enemies actually reset when you die (something I HOPED would change after HoT's hearts and minds, but it seems Mordremoth was a uniquely hardcore dragon). But take this with a grain of salt.
  6. My first rig was a standard work desktop with an integrated graphics card from 2011. Framerate was around 25-30 FPS going up to 50 FPS in unpopulated zones. When PoF launched, the meta event in Vabbi literally caused the computer to crash so hard that the game would freeze for 3 minutes, then lock me for another 3 minutes as my character tried to execute all of the inputs. I mean, I'd never go back, but the bare minimum to play this game is actually really low.
  7. We're talking about a company who thinks OCE (Aus, SEA, NZ) servers would be a waste, and is currently looking at downsizing their player bases expectations with every update. I wouldn't expect a console port.
  8. Sounds cool in theory. It'd be neat if it could attract dedicated guilds, otherwise I'd say it'd end up as another dead activity.
  9. Siege turtle's value is that it's a 2 person mount, so it can be used to transport people through thin walls without a mesmer portal. Also makes running people through maps so much faster since you can transport people to waypoints on the same map (like wanting to show a friend tequatl, but you only have 5 mins to get there and your friend hasn't been to sparkfly fen yet).
  10. Why can't npc's deal damage and carry? How is it more skill expressive to just respawn until you win?
  11. Just gonna pull a hot take here, for all these "BUT IT ONLY COSTS $25, IT'S VALUE REALLY!" crowd. Who would be willing to pay/wait a little longer for a bigger/better/more complete expansion? Because I think people have a right to be upset. Let's be real, there's probably less content than a living world episode, and this isn't a cyberpunk 2077 situation where a mediocre/okay-ish product will get developed into something awesome. Let's be real, what you see now is what you're going to continue to get.
  12. I'm not fond of part-map releases, or the 2-part metas that inhabit them. I think the mini expansion would be easier to swallow if we got 3 whole maps, even if we had to wait for the third to cook.
  13. I could get you back into the game for 30g, if you made poor gear decisions before you quit (because the scholar/berserker meta never fell out of favour). Hell, I've jumpstarted new players with less given the availability of bargain bin exotic level 80 gear on the TP. You seriously overestimate the standard of player gear, many of whom probably still take their level 60 level up uw gear into t4 fractals lmao.
  14. I thought Gw2 already solved this problem with map scrolls. I wonder why they've stopped using them.
  15. So long as the meta shifts towards certain relics, and game shaking updates like Rune/Relic split don't become the norm for expansions, I suppose Relics are fine. My fear is that a new player will log in, be confronted with a load of "options" they don't have the numbers/context to navigate, and make suboptimal/unfun decisions that will drive them away. Because, you have to remember that GW2 is easily the most forgiving mmo in regards to quitting for long periods of time, and coming back like nothing ever happened.
  16. This has been my experience too. As a guild hall designer for three guilds over the years and having supported a few guild halls, the main contributors have always been longtime vets (generally gw1 players) with lots of gold and no outlet to spend it. Creatively and financially, the guild hall decorator is usually on their own, but even if you contribute there's no guarantee your designated guild hall decorator will listen to your suggestions to stop walling off the path to the kitten resource nodes. I think the problem with Guild Halls as a whole is that it directly competes with the resources players need to build their accounts. Most people want to sink their time and resources into something more tangible, like legendary armor, fashion, a griffin, etc. Which is a shame, because I REALLY like seeing what a bored person can do in a weekend.
  17. Anet revamps the character creation, allowing them to streamline new cosmetics/makeup/hair/beards/tails/horns/mix and match armors/clothes... for all races, with regular updates like bl weapon skins.
  18. Those turtles are helping people complete daily jp's as we speak lmao. Mesmers have been partially replaced.
  19. The og cutscenes were awkward, but there are ways to improve it. Personally, I prefered the og system because it was skippable, making repeat playthroughs more bearable. I really don't like open world cutscenes outside of the one where you walk towards spoilers corpse at the end of lws4 ep 5, I just wanna get to the action!
  20. More customisation options are always good, though I suspect prosthetics have to be armor/outfits because of game limitations (could be wrong, but this is an old game on an even older engine, so I'd rather see a anet employee pull a rabbit out of a hat than demand they perform the trick).
  21. Some people genuinely hate wvw (usually because they play it wrong, I think), so naturally GoB has been a talking point for a long time. This is a game, a recreational activity, and maybe people have enough L's in their daily grind that they just want something to complain about.
  22. Tbf, half the fun of a "hardcore" mode is figuring out existing but obscure game systems nobody cares about. Like map completing verdant brink no deaths as a level 2 (or as close to as you can get, I think I ended on level 7) - because of scaling, you can't physically do damage to enemies. BUT damage dealt by allies through a combo field still counts, so you can technically complete combat hero points this way. So, while this is impossible while maintaining a "no help" rule, the fact that enemies have increased agro radius against under leveled characters AND one-hit-kill make this kind of challenging in its own right. I think the game has plenty of opportunity for self-imposed challenges already, particularly around low-leveled-in-high-level-area runs. I don't see the need for a level 2-80 supported hardcore mode.
  23. I was thinking about drafting up some "hardcore" rules for a story playthrough. Permadeath with no trading post is a given, but with a caveat (inspired by the Ys series) that all acquired gear is sold/lost after the prologue of each expansion.
  24. I feel like relics ruined bladesworn for me. Sure, I can still get the 140k crit endorphin boost, but sometimes the gunsaber feels sticky and I lose my relic of thieves bonus before I can do a 2nd slash.
  25. I think you have that backwards. An older player has "been there, done that...", while a newer player still has a whole games worth of content to experience. Plus, this isn't 2007 runescape where having a weird emote or what have you made you an instant celebrity. It's more like peeing your pants irl, a little warm at first, but nobody really wants to see that.
