  1. WoW classic LoL for GW all you have to do is buy one thing only $39.95 for the guild wars complete collection then you can play the all the original games and the eye of the north expansion all you want. Never have to pay a monthly service charge either. So yes Anet has its own version of a classic game too and it is available now no waiting for it.
  2. NO !!!! Why can't you just buy them like everyone else if you get $20 worth of GEMS each month just do that through the proper channels you can even get $25 gem cards at Walmart no tax on them unless your area charges taxes on services of course. Why do they need to add some subscription for it? The only thing I would want is the more you spend it adds a percentage of Gems increase like if you buy 4000 gems for $50 you get another 100 gems free not included for the ultimate game purchase though.
  3. Festivals and other events are set up to be fill in type game play. You do not have to do them you can farm silverwastes still if you want. They are easy to add or take away from the game and only last a short time. If Anet added them to the game permanently there would be no use for most of them. The idea is to have fun with it when available kind of take a break from the projects you are doing at the time they come out. They also improve them as they come back to the game. GW2 is not going anywhere the game will not close because of them so plenty of time to have fun because its made for fun.
  4. Well for me its God walking since I have it on 3 characters in GW1, but its PVE. Since I am bad at PVP I have more respect for how devoted you had to be for the Dragon title in GW1. Now in GW2 there is God of Fractals which if you get it gives your characters advantages you never had before. Kinda like a pay to win type deal only with that you have to earn those advantages. You cannot buy God or Goddess of Fractals so no pay to win just using it as a comparison. GW1 just had titles you max 30 or more you got GWAMM, simple. GW2 has achievements you complete an achievement line it may get you a title but its not the same.
  5. I had read one main reason GW2 is not on console is because consoles charge for internet access for their usage. Anet does not want anyone to charge for access since the game is Buy to Play.
  6. What I do not understand is Guildwars needing to go free to play when technically it's already free to play just like Guildwars 2You only have to purchase the game and the campaigns for Guildwars and play as much as you want for no charge each month Same with Guildwars 2 but with Guildwars 2 they use the expansions not stand alone separate, but connectable games. The reason Guildwars 2 core game became free to try was so they could get more people to buy the expansions. Just buy the entire set of the original Guildwars they are selling it for $39.99 for all 3 campaigns and the eye of the north expansion. After that play it all you want no extra charges
  7. Well if you did the Order of Whispers in the personal story they do have a way to go to and from Cantha and have been for a long time. So Cantha is possible without ever fighting the Sea Dragon. Of course the journey would be dangerous to all that attempt it.
  8. Quoting the Guild Wars 2 wiki: "The existence of horses in Tyria is a contested question amongst players; no living horses have ever been seen, but references to them are plentiful, including: Zodiac Axe Skin, Horse Figure, Iron Horse Mines, and Rocking Horse Ornament. The original Guild Wars also featured a Necrid Horseman and Celestial Horse." https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Horse Doesn't seem like a completely terrible idea, I'm sure plenty of people would buy or work to acquire a horse skin if they put one up for sale in the gem store or made it some kind of in-game obtainable quest/currency thing. Wow good point, and since UW from Guildwars was opened up by kralkatoric which have existing Necrid Horsemen in it whats to say that cannot be used to create a new Skyscale skin for a ghostly flying horse. The animations for the Skyscale and a flying horse are the same. It may not be exactly what the OP wants, but it's something close.
  9. Where have you been Anet not only developed GW2 it also Publishes it too. Anet is a fully owned subsidiary of NC Soft. In the USA gem store transactions are handled by Digital River who also does transactions for the education department for lower priced software for collage students. Besides in the USA more studies would have to be done. Since the black lion chests also drop other things like the statuettes you have more options now. Also where will it stop will there be a guarantee on every drop to be exotic or ascended? Come on it a computer game and things are random and always should be.
  10. The new lore in GW2 for lions arch makes sense too. Lions arch has been destroyed not once but twice. First by the Karka then by Scarlet's friends. Since LA is a gateway to other lands they rebuilt it to what it is today. Thing is they did not rebuild it the next day like most or even all MMO's would have done it took time. Anet set up construction zones to give the illusion that it was being rebuilt. So Lions Arch should be left as is now
  11. Do not want that or did I even say that. It is just an idea if they wanted to do it. They seem to stay busy and if they cannot come up with something for GW2 they could do something for GW while thinking about that. Also it is not about me it is about everyone interested In either game.
  12. Your right it could of been, but being it was a new style of game and a new way of thinking I doubt it. Of course Anet does do things differently than other gaming companies.
  13. None since Prophecies was the first. But don't exactly know show me something that extends past their first campaign while it was being made if you have anything. Also read further down I was wrong about the six months thing that was the schedule but it became a burden after a while. A new expansion could however be done in 2 years or so along side any new content for Guildwars 2.
  14. By the time Guildwars 2 is able to bring the game to Dx12 Microsoft will probably be at Dx24. Then people will want it to be able to run Dx24 and complain about that. Your game runs fine as is now. And believe me your CPU is not the only thing the game runs on. Your graphics card has a lot to do with it also.
  15. “We sat down to discuss what was going to go into Campaign 4 and realized we couldn't do all the things we wanted,” says Game Designer Eric Flannum. “Why? Partly because we’d need more time [than six months], and partly because some ideas wouldn't work well with things we’d done before.”At that point, there were still no plans to fix a system that didn’t seem broken. But ArenaNet Co-Founder Jeff Strain decided to let everyone “freestyle a little bit,” he says. “And the more we talked, the more excited we got about what we could be doing.”What the team felt it couldn’t do was implement its exciting new ideas in the game’s current campaign-every-six-months plan. While the promise of fresh standalone content twice a year sounds great to players, its requirements have actually caused Guild Wars to become somewhat convoluted from a game-design perspective. And, given that the development team has aimed to release a new campaign every six months or so (despite missing that deadline by six months for the second campaign), one might assume that every Guild Wars designer's wildest ideas have found a home somewhere between the lands of Tyria and Elona. “With each new campaign, we’ve been trying to introduce brand-new mechanics that change how the game plays. That’s led to the need for larger and larger tutorials to explain the new mechanics, and it’s made each campaign’s beginning experience much more bloated,” Your right that is why it would have to be strict on the lore not go over it or come up with something new that did not exist. Just fill in gaps people are missing. It's like 250 years are just gone never existed at all. Which technically they didn't but they could be told in Guildwars either way. Guild wars has a decent fan base still and even I would revisit and purchase a new expansion for Guildwars, so I could play it alongside Guildwars2 The reason I say expansion instead ofa campaign (which is a stand alone game they usually introduce new professions with it). In an expansion no new professions are needed for it like Guild Wars Eye of the North. They could however later on add one profession to that as it progresses. > @"Ashen.2907" said: They shelved GW1 because they wanted to give more to the players in a new way it started with being able to jump then dodge then glide and last but not least mounts. Guildwars was and still is a great game different from other MMO type games but also mainly instanced only towns and outposts were places where people could meet and socialize. Guildwars 2 is a true MMO most things are done in a persistent world where everyone interacts with or near each other. I find it cool doing a vista high up and see people on the map when I click on the vista flag and watch the animation for it. I know that ArenaNet makes plenty of money and does not have to do this, but they have been doing some QoL updates to Guildwars recently so why not expand on that.
  16. I do understand that Anet is doing well with GW2, but it misses one thing that can get more players in their corner. The continuation of the Original GW. Let's look at other games and compare a bit. One of the most profitable games for NcSoft is Lineage, not Lineage 2 but the original game. Why is this? Well the reason is because they took a popular game and kept it relevant by giving it new updates and expansions. Anet took a big hit in personnel but still has way more people than when GW2 started. When GW2 did not exist they could easily churn out a new campaign every six months for GW, which they do not even have to do campaigns from now on just expansions like Eye of the North a small dedicated team could create something for GW fans that would blow them away every 2 years or so. They would also be available if needed for adding to GW2's massive story and lore. Now the new stuff in GW would have to be on a strict lore design since 250 years had passed between the games. Mainly tell stories of how things came to be in GW2. For example in Elona the rise of Joko and how the sun spears were hunted by his undead hordes. How the people became to love him in life and in death. How an why Cantha became a closed off society after the defeat of Shiro You know what happened in between GW and GW2 in that 250 years. The books do tell some of that of course, but I think people would love to play those events in GW. I hope people will agree with me on this. And Anet you can charge money for those expansions people will buy them.
  17. Not sure if this was mentioned in this topic, but before the game launched Guildwars players character names were guaranteed to cross over if they wanted. Guildwars players also got a three day head start if they pre purchased the game. So right there you have names that they will not change for you or anyone else. Thing is if someone changes that name they have a limited time to give it to another character on that account or it goes back to the available list, so there is hope. Or you could do what companies did when they could not get the name they wanted. Buy out the person who had it.
  18. I put over 27,700 hours into Guildwars about 300 hours of that popping on since Guildwars2 has been out. Was I great at the game not really but had fun made some great builds that worked best for me I played since 2006 had all the campaigns and eye of the north expansion. Then I read an article in PC Gamer about the announcement for Guildwars2 on how it came about. What happened was Anet was going to make a new campaign called utopia based on the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. Someone in the group said lets add jumping then another suggested open world as things progressed they realized the Guildwars engine could not be used for all the new systems. So they had to create Guildwars2 now at the time of that article it was all ideas for Guildwars2 nothing started yet at all. First they had to create eye of the north and the Hall of Monuments so people can have a legacy for all the time they spent in Guildwars to bring to Guildwars2. It took Anet a bit over 5 years to create Eye HoM and Guildwars 2. I played Guildwars for a long time had fun, but it was getting boring to me needed a change but had a lot of respect for how Anet runs their games. Unlike most Guildwars players I am personally glad Guildwars2 is completely different from the first game.
  19. Well I don't know I am ready for GW15 myself. The way some people talk by the time GW3 is suppose to happen some one will complain they want GW4. GW2 was created because GW could not add things like jumping or swimming had no real persistent world except towns or outposts. One thing they should of kept though is instead of using a Dungeons and Dragons fighting design the Magic the Gathering design would of been more unique. Anyway GW2 was designed for change its not a matter of if it can change, its a matter of when. Maybe in the future GW2 they will update to Directx 12 or higher.
  20. Well if you want to show off your guild they have guild armor and guild weapons the weapons have a sash with the guild emblem on it. Capes are not needed please leave them in the past where they belong.
  21. I have watched videos of WoW Tera BDO and a few other games. WoW now runs with directx 11. It made the game a bit sharper, but the graphics are still cartoon like. It also made people without the ability of Direct X 11 to upgrade their computers. Tera has good graphics, but the characters look really plastic to me. Character skin should have a subtle glow to it not a shine. Black Desert has excellent and beautiful character design graphics one of the best I have seen, but that does not look like it translates well into gameplay. I see no difference in-between game play from GW2 and BDO . The thing is the better the graphics wanted the fewer the pc's a game will run on. Yes newer computers are awesome, but so many people in a map will slow any game down. Running low graphic settings because that is what is recommended by the game is stupid. Play with the settings see what you can do to improve the graphics some. Changing the Character Model limit to a lower setting helps a lot you can use that to make names only for other characters far away and increase the visuals for everything closer to you. There is no need to run everything on ultra especially if you have a budget gaming computer. But the graphics can look awesome either way.
  22. Money. WoW was a massive success for Blizzard, which was already a juggernaut in the gaming industry. They became so successful that they could afford to do a lot of things in their game. Meanwhile, ArenaNet is a small (if not in number of employees, in the amount of resources they have) studio surviving on a single, niche game that is five years old. Which means, ArenaNet is not going to do a lot of things they could do (nor, IMO, a lot of things they should do). Apparently their revenue is now based on focusing on new content (living world releases and expansions) and on monetizing things on the Gem Store. Which means:ArenaNet will not go back to the core game and rework content that is outdated/aged poorly/was poorly implemented in the first place. WoW reworked their core game in one of their expansion, but this is way out of reach for ArenaNet.ArenaNet will not fix dungeons; and by "fix" I don't mean reworking old mechanics, I mean fixing years-old game breaking bugs. They cannot afford it.The Gem Store will always have more weapon skins than the real game. ArenaNet will never invest so much on rewards available in-game as they do on things displayed in the Gem Store. ArenaNet has to do this to survive.Likewise, don't expect things like glider skins, outfits and mount skins to be made available in-game for the majority of players. I'm sure ArenaNet would love to, but they can't afford to not monetize those things.ArenaNet will not add a new race, because this requires redoing a lot of the old content that they are not going to address again. Voice acting for the old content by itself would severely push their limited resources.ArenaNet will not do big changes to core game mechanics (like removing stats from items and turning them into attribute points for players to assign). They can't afford big changes like this when they have to dedicate everything to new content and to the Gem Store. In many ways, ArenaNet feels like half a developer making half a game. It's fun to speculate and discuss things like this topic, but in reality Guild Wars 2 is not going to have things like this; they can't afford it. ArenaNet needs goodwill of their players, low expectations and people willing to accept subpar support for everything other than the newest release because, well, that's the best they can do. Well you are putting Anet down comparing it too Blizzard like that saying they do a bad job because they do not have the resources that the most greedy game company in the MMO market has. If that is true then why does blizzard's MMO run on crap computers. The reason Wow is successful is because people like you empower them with monthly payments to play their game. Money is not an issue for Anet. coming up with ideas as a team can be of course. About the money part I think 34 billion Korean Won ( $31 million ) in profit) just in the last quarter is quite a bit for Anet to come up with great new content easily. Comparing the core mechanics of the game Blizzards WoW is far behind Arenanets Guildwars 2 even Guildwars was far ahead in design graphically. WoW is also ran in 32 bit where Guild wars 2 is ran in 64 bit again more advanced . There are 32 bit versions if your computer has that only. They went to 64 bit without needing to remake the game. at all. Yes Guild wars 2 is now over 5 years old and keeps getting better unlike WoW which got a small upgrade in graphics a couple years ago after 12 or so years Now I am not comparing the cartoonish Wow graphics that is fine, but could just be better detailed than it is. But wait no they won't make them better because of the fear of losing customer's with low rate computers Besides there are three types of games people compare too. First is World of Warcraft of course its kinda like the standard to copy why come up with new ideas when you have the basis already. Guild wars 2 new or tried idea's that may or may not work together and is different from the standard altogether. Then of course Asian MMO's which are more grindy than most. This does not make any of those type bad or good just different
  23. New playable races study - Choose your favorite Bird race - TenguVery doable They have existed in GW in one way or another and have a place already in the game. Humanoid race - LargosHumanoid is not a great reference to Largos more of an Aqua race they are unique and could also become a decent race, but only after going to their world and discovering more about them something for the future. Elemental race - Stone DwarfNo They killed off Dwarves at the end of Eye of the North because of the very good story in Guildwars about The great dwarf and the great destroyer fights Mammal race - KodanNot a good choice too peaceful more advisors than anything they also do not have many differences between each other would be kinda like the Panda's in that other game. Reptilian race - Naga, Forgotten, KraitThe forgotten are an old desert race which have a rich history even have helped other races where they could. Even though the forgotten are snake race it had nearly died out in the crystal desert only a handful survived to the end of guild wars. The Naga and Krait are snake races that have always caused problem and too similar to each other to choose as a new race Amphibian race - Hylek, Itzel, Nuhoch, HeketThese are also too similar to each other to go beyond the regions we find them in Primitive race - Grawl, Ogre, Quaggan, Skritt, Harpy, Jotun, TrollAlthough these races are unique in themselves the Jotun used to be expert magic users and were much smarter than they are now. Having to struggle with communication does not make a great new race leave them as they are. Advanced race - Centaur, DredgeWhat makes these races Advanced? The dredge are more like a hive race it takes strong leaders to guide them to whatever that leaders goal is they well follow blindly The centaur could be considered a mammal race still not a good choice for now Magical race - Mursaat, Seer, MargoniteIf you do not have Hot or did not play gw you would not know that the Mursaat race is all but dead. The seer were all very secretive and more of an ancient race The margonites should of been found in PoF they are a race based on Abbadon. but could become aware unlike other dragon or god undead type creatures. Razah was one of those Still too few to make a good race. Something else altogetherWho knows sometime in the far future they could come up with something. So Tengu would be my choice at this time since they already have a huge area that would be cool to explore named the dominion of the winds. They can be and have been enemies, but also allies in the game.
  24. I have one thing to say just be patient. The rest of Living Story 4 has to be completed before the next expansion unless they come up with something new. I do not understand why people are so worried about the next expansion
