  1. As much as you and many others want to mock and ignore this, it IS what is relevant here. It's not a charity and GW2 isn't an exercise in philanthropy. The fact is simple: if the game doesn't make money, the game doesn't exist. That's a situation that NO one will benefit from. As if making money and providing a variety of supported content was a zero-sum game
  2. Right, so even your sarcasm can't hide the fact I'm right. EVEN with that 18 month development, PVE STILL gets more development than WvW. We have 7 years of game history ... you're going to honestly try to paint the picture that WvW is this intensely developed game mode? MORE than PVE? Now your just being incredible. It's more of a self-fulfilling prophecy. They don't update WvW and put almost all of their resources on PVE so players don't play WvW. Then they go "See?! PVE generates most of the income!" In a sense that's true, but that doesn't really change the nature of the discussion here. This isn't an experiment, it's a business. If a product line is declining because it's out of favour with your customers, it's pretty hard to justify putting investment into it. In what possible way has WvW "declined" because people just stopped wanting what it offered instead of because Anet kitten it up with 2 terrible espec cycles and near total lack of mechanics updates to offset the combat environment that they altered themselves? Easy ... the number of people goes down that use that service. It's irrelevant what causes the decline. You can dwell on the reasons for what caused that all you like if it makes you feel better. It's a pointless exercise to do so though. What is relevant is the current situation. Sure, if Anet wanted to they could divert a significant number of resources to improve that situation ... but at what cost? It all goes back to what I have been saying all along ... the investment goes where the money is. I can imagine that ... but Anet hasn't removed anything from WvW to make that comparison relevant. Yes, they haven't delivered much to WvW but to paint a picture were they aren't doing anything and removing things that people like about WvW ... that's not being honest. "It irrelevant what causes that decline" No it isn't but that rarely stops people from deploying tactical nihilism to win arguments so please continue. "but Anet hasn't removed anything" Dude, come on now... Ya know what, forget it, not gonna play this game with you. Anet should just go full steam ahead with running their property into the ground for easy profit. What earns the most the fastest is all the matters apparently.

Imagine if Ford stopped putting AC and power steering in the F150. Would it be reasonable for them to just stop making the truck altogether when sales crater or would you expect them to realize there's still a demand but not not for the crappier version they chose to release?
  4. Nothing happened and that's precisely the problem
  5. As opposed to literally every other roaming class that just wrek you with leaps/ports instead of ranged spam? LMAO you know they wont How many times do we need to go through this sad song and dance? Or are there still people coping by telling themselves they'll resurrect Druid someday?
  6. It's not about whether it was content or not but about whether it was enough for people The reddit was on fire and a post containing a "I expected nothing and was still let down" meme is still on the front page at over 3k net upboats That says a lot
  7. Pretty sure people logging off and silently waiting for Anet to "get it" is why they think pvp/wvw populations are a lost cause
  8. The ability to farm ranks has absolutely cratered in recent years. WvW xp points are dependent on personal activity so the more you do the more you earn Problem is, back in the day, that meant you could tap 2-3 dozen players, per fight, with your Guardian staff auto in a zerg 5 days a week and reach Platinum+ in this lifetime Loot stick is kill and daily guild raids are all but a thing of the past for most people Expecting to reach legendary armor ranks starting from 0 today is a pipe dream for anyone who isn't surgically attached to their desk chair
  9. I was expecting to watch an event about gw2, the future and its content, not about merch. What should ppl that flew or drove to watch that should feel when you sell them merch? I mean given the amount of red lights on what's going on with GW2 right now, you'd think people would be aware of what's happening with GW2 and ANet as of current. Honestly, I didn't even watch the livestream of the event because this was exactly what I expected from them. Either way, people expected way too much from a dev team that got a huge shafting very recently. I think a lot of us were expecting them to hint at proposed solutions to the problems people voice. Especially when they stated they had a renewed focus on the game. I wasn't upset that they didn't reveal a bunch of new instanced party content but I am upset that they didn't mention it at all. They didn't have to showcase half a dozen new dungeons, but simply saying "we're bringing back dungeons with new locations and revamps to existing ones" would have blown people away. Even just saying "we have X amount of new fractals and new rewards in the works" would have been enough. I have a feeling the general idea was we thought getting more LW instead of another expansion meant we'd be instead getting a more diffused improvement of the game but all we know for sure is we're getting fake raids and more LW content. If you were someone who struggled to log in during season 4, that presentation was a giant sign that read "Maybe come back in 10 to 12 months". And that goes for pvp/wvw people as much as the pve folks.
  10. Lack of compelling content to play or compelling reasons to repeatedly play the stuff we do have. So much is released in the gem store now that I really can't be arsed to farm gold for hours a day when I can just buy an item with a fraction of the time investment via my job and $$$ And even at that point, I'm just left to wonder why I should spend $10 to buy the Lightbinder Sword if I have no real reason to use it in anything.
  11. Who's everyone? Underwater pvp was garbage because nothing was balanced properly. Weapons were clunky and class mechanics were all over the place in usefulness compared to on land. A thief on land was hard to catch. Underwater, they were a free kill because they didn't have stealth spam or shadow steps. You couldn't even kill a ranger without killing his pet first because there was no stomp mechanic and the pet revive works in seconds. Underwater content left a sour taste in people's mouths because it was poorly executed, not because the core system was flawed.
  12. Which is literally before GW1 even came out. NCsoft is a boogieman people invoke to absolve Anet of poor decision making Guild Wars is not City of Heroes ANet didn't decide to sack and move people around mid development of certain things to start failed projects. It was NCSoft, who were trying to be Blizzard with stuff like MxM when they know they can't compete. Do you have a single fact to back that up?
  13. Which is literally before GW1 even came out. NCsoft is a boogieman people invoke to absolve Anet of poor decision making Guild Wars is not City of Heroes Dont be naive , do you not think they answer to ncsoft? If they are blundering everything ncsoft would step in, this isnt anet so much as the bosses telling them they arent getting money to make anything like expansions or lots of new content. Ncsoft has the last word, they okay or not what anet can do. They push for more shop revenue because they dont care about gw2 only what it can earn them. You cant take a western game and treat it like a Korean one , and from what everyone is saying on glassdoor that is the problem. That ncsoft is clueless about western mmos See here's the thing, gems shop shenanagins and actual play content are not mutually exclusive. Art assets like a glider or weapons take minimal effort to make. It's so easy people do this for Bethesda games in their free time in mods. It's even easier in GW2 because people will go nuts for basic stuff like shared inventory slots. Both ESO and Warframe have just as onerous cash shops and they manage to be able to give people what they want. Again, you're blaming NCsoft for decisions as though Anet has no agency at all. NCsoft didn't run GW1 into the ground and they had 0 effect on Anet when they were self publishing. If NCsoft had such an iron grip on Anet, they never would have let them go semi independent in the first place.
  14. I would stop playing ranger in WvW entirely if you nerf longbow damage directly If you remove the only thing that made the class unique then I;m just playing a worse Warrior
  15. It's a sad state of affairs when it's the communty's fault for expecting more than the bare minimum, especially when it was to be delivered with an unusual amount of fanfare.
  16. Which is literally before GW1 even came out. NCsoft is a boogieman people invoke to absolve Anet of poor decision making Guild Wars is not City of Heroes
  17. Anet was self publishing for at least a full year before NCsoft took back control recently Don't punt this off onto the people who didn't hinder GW1's success
  18. Do you have a single fact to back that up or is this more "hype man" posting where people write Anet's hypothetical roadmap for them?
  19. Farming Dragonfall 40 times in a row to get your scion weapon doesn't count
  20. It'll either never come or will come when there's no longer anyone around to care I mean, come on now... lol, speak for yourself. Pleanty of us expected something more substantial than "yes, there will be a LW season 5" when they hype it for weeks and rent a venue.
  21. -Discussion of why WvW NA isn't doing well-Immediately turns into an anti BG salt fest from people who admit to server hopping I see the circus is back in town...
  22. But one skill to nullify an entire class's ranged capability is totally fine? LmaoOne "Wall of Reflection" that nullifies your entire classes range capabilities... Good one, ill add another.... One small pebble was on the footpath... it nullified my walking capabilities. Its fun saying dumb stuff... if you were actually serious though then im lost for words. "reflect wall/bubble spam doesn't make ranger useless in a zerg" lol okay there pal So its Ranger you're talking about? Why not use unblockables? Im sorry, I didn't know you were actually serious. Use unblockables, stow weapon, position yourself and time your rapid fire is the best advice I can give you.I really hate the "learn to play" phrase because it sounds extremely elitist but it applies here quite heavily. Best of luck on your endeavors. "use unblockables" you should probably get into the habit of reading balance updates every once in a while Did they remove the 2 call of the wilds available and the signet too did they? lol the signet was always garbage and the calls all have 3 charges, try to keep up So? they're still unblockables... Youre asking for the game to change because you ignore the basics like what I mentioned earlier with positioning and timing but you also refuse to use what's available at your disposal. Do you honestly think this game should be balanced around you alone or the extreme minority? I didn't ignore anything, you just have really bad takes lol nice try pretending that isn't the motivating force behind everyone's desire for skill/balance changes If you say so... That's 1 of my Rangers. Look, you can seek for "balance" because you don't want to change your build, anyone can, but don't assume it's the driving factor for everyone.Taking the easy way out for everything is exactly why we ended up with Warclaw being as strong as it is, so there's that too... Just mount up and charge in with your GS, drop a Maul and Wordly Impact with Stone signet and laugh like a maniac. Anyway as I said, you won't persuade me. Best of luck in your endeavors. :smile:If you wish to discuss this further with me and try, there's always PM but I promise it will be a waste of time."suiciding into a zerg to blow 2 point blank aoe's on tanked up frontline" ya this would be a waste of time for sure
