  1. What helps become a good control trait just becomes a self heal. This makes me too sad.
  2. Glacial heart, nooooo. I have run a tanky bruiser firebrand whose sole purpose is to cc/hinder enemies while holding the front line and giving some stability support to allies. This build used to use stoic demeanor, but they got rid of the slow so it went bye bye. Glacial heart was a major source of hindering enemies and mixed well with stoic's slow, but now it's going to lose the added chills. What a bust, what does guardian hammer need this healing for exactly?
  3. Okay so I normally wouldn't post on this sort of thread, but ever since raids came into existence the balance of the game was thrown into chaos, where raids, pvp, wvw, and unfortunately even open world pve became 4 separate balances. after raid mentality of success or fail seeped into fractals, it then bled into what was left of dungeons, after that it started creeping into open world pve. Once that became a maintstay things got really iffy for pvp and wvw as many of the borderline pve/wvw/pvp players were hesitant to jump into the mode. Do I have a solution to this? Not right now unfortunately but I feel as if the game in general needs a massive cleanse of boon application and duration at the very least
  4. Unless it's fake tap, and then the whole map would lose participation, but then one of those scout thingies would be useful but screw them in participation world too. A lot of this just seems like a server and map issue(which it seems that ebg is stated later on in this thread). I dislike ebg for a lot of these reasons, but it will be difficult to find a good solution that isn't exploitable one way or the other.
  5. This is just seems confusing based on being contradictory. Failing an attack gives nothing but you hopefully know that already. Giving people rewards for failing anything is not the best idea in any gamemode(people will always want easy things made easier). What do you roam as that people regularly run from you? I doubt we can take your answer seriously, but even if these people are starved for participation I doubt they would charge you, and if they WERE your system would kick them out instead of watching them run(they might already be gone hence you would see mobody). And scout type behavior for more active gameplay...roaming is literally advance field scout numero uno. Some just ignore the scout aspect and don't communicate as they are introverted roamers.
  6. Most people have no idea you need snap to ground target, or that it even exists.
  7. My guild started on sanctum of rall, but it climbed the ranks quickly the first few months with each matchup victory seeing more defectors each week, once we made it to t3 the queues got too big for the guild to all play as a guild, so we transferred down to t7 to Borlis Pass the LAST week of free transfers at the start of Nov 2012. Been there ever since, though the server was gutted and lost a massive swath of players before, during, and after the final tourney(even Monkey Shinezz had to leave for Dragonbrand a few months later).
  8. So if you want true competition that can be measured fairly, wipe all maps and make one ebg style where each of the 3 sides are EXACT mirrors of each other, and each server can only field the same # of players at once, and they must only be one class with the same gear/trait setup, akin to red checkers being equal to the black. Have it be a forward queue, where if there are 5 red 5 blue 5 green, and a 6th red wants to come they queue up until a 6th green and 6th blue also queue up. If players leave the match like a blue quits, then red and green will have a player kicked out so the map has 4 of each server(kicks out the one who had been longest in the map). This makes things TOTALLY fair and balanced for true competition, do you want this? Do THESE numbers lie? They would really show what each server is capable of without the imbalancing WvW is prone to, and what also makes it fun and interesting. If you want to blab on and on about numbers and balance then go all the way(actually you should make a poll about this and then totally ignore that one). People like ebg because of easy navigation and how close things are to each other and how the action stays more constant with little downtime, zergs and roamers alike. People like alpine due to the easy navigation and massive open field and structure zerg battles that can take place there(zergs also like easy navigation same as roamers) People like the desert due to the map complexity, as it requires more thinking and effort to do well, but obviously rewards you when you do. Ironically people also DISLIKE some of these maps for the same reasons people like them, but don't think they are just misinformed and wrong.
  9. *Then goes on to ignore the numbers of this poll and continues to lecture peers* Well what about the numbers of this poll huh? This is why anet doesn't even take us the wvw playerbase seriously, because why should they after reading this thread? Even the op was slightly mental with the statement of liking of desert equals liking bugs. What a roundabout way to achieve what exactly?
  10. I voted for guardians, thieves, and members in that order. First and foremost willbenders, due to being a roided up version of the Nike warriors of old(but even more mobility, condi damage, boon access and still have access to group stuff core guards have over those old Nike warriors). Next is all thieves, still very dangerous but have a better chance on taking one down or at least stale mating as if you can deal some damage they may have to stealth and you get a window for a draw. Members being last as they can still be just as dangerous as the other two, but are usually easier to escape from as they have to choose between some mobility skills for damage ones if you start to run from them, instead of thief and willbender having natural mobility skills(weapons, f skills). On starting to win over these classes, thief and mesmer have to utilize stealth well to survive, which can be countered, but most reveals are weak or are on a skill that you have to slot something much better on(like the mesmer's problem earlier), so you have to know in advance and downgrade something just for a chance at reveal....however even without a reveal it's more engaging than when you start to win against a willbender, and they just run, move, block, move, move again, and if still in range they start to invuln to get all their f skills back. It's just frustrating to watch the entire process compared to an enemy stealth where they got away smartly and you missed, nah a willbender is like "I have boots of escaping! See ya!"
  11. I think the real problem lies in a server that seems to be ebg or bust! Also this reminds me of why I quit playing on reset night, I don't miss the queue part at all.
  12. Don't disclose them adding legendary gear, which probably is one of our main population keepers at this stage(while simultaneously being good and bad for the mode). The guildhall grind was especially bad, as 95% of the wvw upgrades needed stuff from pve only. And don't forget the centaur banner that needed an item only found in the kurta reward track because there were no level 80 centaurs to kill that dropped stuff because they nixed that when reward tracks were introduced.
  13. Depends on the timezone yountend to play in, as DB I think is still mostly active in the midnight after time. They had decent pm coverage but were dead in the mid to late am.
  14. THIS sounds like a zerg got too close to a legendary champion near someone's spawn, as that is exactly what will happen. Their auto attacks are an instant down and they take 0 damage.
  15. They should drop healing efficiency by 33% across the board but make it able to crit, thus precision becomes a healing stat.
  16. Game crashed for the top tiers that triple zerged it, it was a great experience in tiers 5, 6, and 7. There were two aggro stoneheads in the oasis, the rest was yellows you just had to not hit with aoes. I don't know about the jumping into keeps, but gliding didn't exist for over its first year. The barriers you speak of were extended walls of the tower(which would upgrade with said tower) at first, which later got downgraded to barriers. These only blocked the immediate vicinity of the tower, and NOTHING else. They were part of the tower actually contributing to a form of zone control, rather than being just some walls to hide behind or siege from. The map's design added difficulty and complexity to every level of play, from solo to zergs, unfortunately our community wants things easier and faster if not immediate(lf content? Any tags?) And boy did we unleash that on this forum. Overall the oasis event was made to counter people hurtling inside structures, and forced servers to come out, which ma y think is a good thing, apparently the top tiers just went a bit too hard doing so. The lower tiers had a bit more playability, as you sometimes could forego the oasis to hit a tower or keep while most of its defenders are in the oasis, or snipe players or groups even, attempting to run those cores in the oasis. My guild had a ton of fun in the desert, though I do agree it wasn't perfect, because nothing is (otherwise this forum would be silent with nothing to complain about). Also it didn't help population numbers that 90% of the guild hall upgrades were best (or only)obtained in pve, and wvw population had a bad hit. The beta also wasn't handled well as far as I saw, so agree with you on that one.
  17. I know wintersday has the siege fire presents and candy cane ballistas, but only if you have base masteries(none of the increased damage masteries) as those change the skill itself and were added later. I can't recall if now you would shoot pumpkins or not, has been too long!
  18. Answer was stated already but we players are the answer. They added new stuff to wvw up until the dbl, and the amount of player backlash on the map was so angry and loud that they made multiple changes, and then brought alpine back, and then world linking happened. Of course they wouldn't be thrilled something they were excited for got shot down so bad( with players STILL wanting it removed). After world linking the wvw community was obviously split on what players want from wvw which continues to this day, and can be seen just reading these forums. You can't blame them for not making content for us, the wvw community that can't agree on what even most of us want.
  19. Your full post, bravo because that is too true.
  20. Because it could have the dps meter effect, which gave players tools to judge how well they were doing or areas to improve, but also had the negative effect of showing how bad some people were who were then effectively cut out of groups and runs whether it was pve(where it happened first), and even wvw(which eventually followed).
  21. Honestly I wanted the skirmish reward track to have a server pool based on ppt+kills+objective captures and defenses and then divide that by player every five minutes. That way zerg servers have to share with the zerg, and would also encourage people to play during weak time zones for more rewards. Also a 3rd reward based on victory in tier would be nice
  22. This would be fine if there was only the competitive type in wvw, but there is much more. You have people that play for rewards, people that play for fun, people that play for fights, people that play for "fights", you have people that love big fights, you have people that hate big fights, you have people that love small fights, and people that hate small fights, you have people that roam solo, you have people that suck solo, you have guilds that hunt other guilds, you have guilds that hunt only pugs, you have players that have no idea what they're doing, you have players that only play if there is a tag to follow, you have people that fair weather, and last but not least all of the above can fair weather at any time. Unless you can factor in all these variables, we won't know the truth of any one server. Oh I forgot people who transfer, damnit.
  23. They could make a bold move and do what they did when linking was new. In NA we had some servers that were solo and some others were 3 servers linked. What are the chances they could make these solo servers a 3rd link in the other tiers and drop t5? Ofncourse then we would still have complaints but likely for the opposite reasons.
  24. The misconception that the term ranger is based off of range from their target drives me insane. Warriors aren't called melee'rs, they are warrior for a different reason. Ranger is based off the territory they range, better to think of a park ranger in a more wilderness setting(why they have wilderness survival). These same people thinking rangers are only about range don't also think because we have pets we should be called zookeepers do they?
