  1. Didn't vote, as I can't wait for links to be replaced with WR or even the old system, as links originally made things too zerg, but as the base learned how it worked in short fashion were then able to use it to ruin it's original intent of attempting to balance matchups somewhat. It has now been a placeholder system that people have complained about for longer than the original system.
  2. It's just attackers, as they are part of the secure the keep event to kill the lord his scaling is linked to that. Defenders have the other event, defend the keep. The scenario I have described in my previous post is not totally uncommon for my guild as we are between 5-10 people. Keep lords never scale up for us when defenders show up but if the other server shows up even near the vicinity it scales it beyond our damage of killing it in decent time.
  3. Defenders do not scale the lord, only attackers. The issue can arise when a small group sneaks in on the lord and the 3rd server shows up with large numbers on the outer, that lord will scale up to fight both groups of attackers. Even though the first group might have 5 or less
  4. We can all only hope, but their track record with wvw items is as successful as tower defenses are today.
  5. Stealth is mostly just very annoying as there are not many relatively good reveals spread across the classes, many get access to ONE and sometimes that is part of an elite spec. The problem with these not being very general skills is most people don't have them slotted unless they know they are about to fight a stealther, and any decent stealther will be on them before they know that and can adjust. Spear of Justice is an example of a good reveal. Group stealth is super strong and I don't use it but just have my group retreat when an enemy uses it until it wears off, not exciting for either group.
  6. Though I do like this suggestion, it created better reading than most threads here recently!
  7. Anet has made getting skirmish tickets easier twice already, with the new bonus ones counting as a third. Wait, they also added +1 pip to every rank as well, well whatever. How many people have enough tomes to accelerate their skirmish track pips +1, +2, hell maybe even +3 or more? This is kind of the point as your wxp rank directly correlates to legendary acquisition. They had a reason for removing the thimbles of wxp from the laurel vendor in wvw all those years ago.
  8. Camps are way too easy, good players could solo them back in 2012 in green-rare level gear, and t3 camps with rare to exotic(but watch out for the cabalist pull). Fast forward to today with 3 games of elite specs, better and stronger stat selection, a multitude of weapon skill upgrades, and a ton of consolidated traits and general trait improvements, and laugh at the camp guards that still use auto attack and 1 skill(2 for the super). There are three things I would look at to bring them to being a little up to date so they can get out of the ex bags category. 1. Improve the ai- the sole reason they are easy to group up for being AOL's to death, OR 2. Redo or update their skills(similar to desert tower/keep guards, but not near their difficulty) 3. Allow t2 tactics back on them for iron guards
  9. We have that other thread talking about players don't like long sieges, but how many people like to siege a spawnpoint? This thread is kinda funny. Also as a side note the breakout events were tuned to player power levels of 2013. Back when boons were rare and people used soldier gear almost exclusively and maybe 70% of a server's standing force was level 80.
  10. I like the new changes but had just made a build using stoic demeanor coupled with glacial hammer, was fun to see the small burns, chills, and slows on all my cc's. Now I wave goodbye to the slows, but the new trait doesn't mesh with it anymore, still I like the time changes
  11. Relevance. That is the one thing gatekeeping achieves, is wvw being relevant to the entire rest of the game. We lost server communities to mega servers, the power of the mists was lost due to raids, wvw map completion was also lost. Gifts of battle are the last thing we have left that is important to renaissance gw2 players. Without that wvw would be left with no support and they would let it die off on its own(hold those laughs and commenta people). Most people play the game for fun, but they find getting rewarded most fun of all. If fractals had no rewards, would it still exist? If you could get gifts of exploration without map completion, would that exist? If meta events gave you nothing but the fun of it, how populated would they be? Look at activities, people only do those if it is a daily, otherwise it is not relevant. There are people that like many aspects of this game, but only get to fully enjoy those aspects while they are relevant. The moment these things lose relevance they might get lost forever and none of the people that find WvW fun want that to happen to this game mode as gifts of battle are the last and only thing really tying us to the rest of the entire game.
  12. This stops so many people, am I weird for seeing it as I can attack anything and everything I want? It's like every pve meta being active at once in the game, choose which one you want. The worst is if your server owns everything, it would be the same as no pve metas going on at all.... sad
  13. As someone else mentioned this has gone on a long time but got progressively worse. My server suffered mortal wounds during the 2nd tournament and slowly went down to t8 in a few months after. Before that decline there were 2 guilds which were very active in wvw. One was a very large pug zerg type guild for the server, the other the medium sized zerg bust type. The zerg busting group would bash any poor performance of their allied zerg group, which created a bit of animosity between them. Both these sides would represent the early forms of the ppk side and ppt side, though neither talked about it as such. Things got worse between them but the ppk side as the zerg busters always were the the majority of harassment. In time things got to a head where the large zerg guild left the server(and their guild name was based on it even), leaving the medium one and their harassment behind. The medium one at that time became the largest guild for the server, but without that larger guild around was completely unable to accomplish much of anything on the maps. This guild within about 3 weeks time also transferred off, and the server began it's true decline to t8. The large guild has been list to history as they most likely started a new one, the medium one still exists as a small group that plays for a couple months every year and a half. Both groups used to work with each h other at an acceptable level but as time went on one side valued skill over anything else and the rift began, even though they both needed each other for a chance at victory. A bit of a metaphor but wvw is in its own 3 way bout vs the other two servers, pve and pvp. The fact that our wvw community cannot find common ground or figure out how we can come together to make headway for wvw, our importance score to the anet devs will be the lowest of the three. My server, Borlis Pass still exists due to new players relinks and transfers, but it has never been the same as it was before that, just like WvW.
  14. Engineer pistol as it now fares poorly in comparison to all other options. The other stuff is fine in small to med scale, just does not in large scale for being projectile weapons with low aoe(minus necro staff).
  15. If 1 person locking a waypoint is too effective, you are depending too much on said waypoint. My guild is havoc in enemy bls, where we have just the spawn and only if things go really well do we get a chance for a waypoint before we log for the night. The rare times we show up in the home map feels like easy mode with just ONE waypoint, let alone 2 or 3 that you can feed supply from nearly immediately. I wish they went back to one waypoint per server based on which structure it was and not t3 based(I even liked the enemy invader ones being the southern towers instead of keeps). Mounts changed alpine big time as people have already stated in this thread. I would be happy to see all waypoints go by this stage
  16. If they keep a very clean inventory it would be easy, but your average person in this game.....does not. Probability here would be higher chance it could be messy than clean.
  17. It is showing 0/5 because you just completed it and the counter is reset to 0. Showing 3 completions though, you may want to check all characters inventories
  18. Is the #1 AP holder sponsored by anet or anybody for that matter? Does anybody know who that person is and/or want to know? I fail to see how AP is the same as those things, because for all this talk about catching up, what happens to the OP when they DO catch up? Anything of note? Cue Colin Johansen's sword swinging: "I got an AP! I got an AP AGAIN!" The real question behind this is a personal one to the OP: Why does this matter, to you?
  19. 10 months later... Loved reading that gap since this thread was last posted on. Early game gw2 conditions were not very strong and great condition builds relief on sigils and traits that applied a condition on crit. Lower condition damage and healing numbers, make them able to critically hit, and redo or make new stat combos, so that the best healing and condi builds are their primary stat plus toughness/vitality/whatever
  20. Gw2's pve loot rules are the best, as any number of players can kill something and receive full loot/reward. This does not translate as well to wvw, where if you and 9 other people kill 1 person you get rewarded as much as if you did it solo. Rewards are the best way to direct player behavior. If the pip system worked where it was based on ppt + capturing objectives + kills ÷ players currently playing for your server people may not zerg as much, or leave things undefended, it would also promote playing when your server is low on players because you would be rewarded more, giving an incentive for players to combat dreaded timezone gaps. Some people may swap off blob servers if they can get rewards faster for being on a smaller server, which would balance things out from the current system that players like to tip. If servers become even a little more balanced, fights should get better and so would coverage, doing better as a server would matter a little more and competition between servers might start to happen again, instead of a match being nearly predetermined unless a server wants to lose.
  21. Yeah I would like a shorter time as well, 15 to 30 mins tops. This way you build and use siege as you need it, and would make bunkering structures cost more supply which it should. Promote more intelligent supply usage, not just who has tons of supply and who doesn't.
  22. So it seems the only thing to recommend is the ones wanting this faster petition for the open world armors? The hurdle I see in advance is that content is not "endgame" enough, but good luck
  23. I was not a fan of that stuff being behind raids either, as I also hate raids. That being said I still closed the door on doing raids myself (the achievements drove me nuts as I was an achievement freak). I just went with ascended and 2-3 of my more played chars had a 2nd set, then a couple years later they had wvw legendary but I still didn't bother with it, until my chara started getting a 3rd set of ascended on some and I realized I had tickets for a set(usually would complete gold each week). About changes, they already flattened the ticket curve AND increased the pips based on server placement in the first year of tickets(possibly start of the 2nd) to make it easier for the people complaining then. Last year they got rid of the +5 for outnumbered and even gave another +1 for each rank instead of non bronze getting nothing. How much easier does it need to become? Wvw can be played at any time, by yourself or with a group. Have no healers? No problem, you don't even need to be comped to succeed in participation. You could have been working on your pips all while posting on this thread even and made decent progress while talking about it. The wvw method really only takes time, and if you don't have even that, it becomes more of a personal problem and not the game's problem, sorry.
  24. I am still on page 1 of this perplexing thread but had to quote this part. Does the OP want legendary armor? If they do why aren't they raiding for it as they say that it is much easier, cheaper and faster. Is somebody trying to get legendary level gear with bargain bin effort?
