  1. I mean all of the above are cherry picked fights, those gimmick/one-trick-pony builds are fun when they work but easily blown up. Boonbeast is more potent overall, even if the individual numbers are smaller because they can often tank for quite a long time in a 1v1 scenario. That said, one-shotting the odd opponent with winter's bite on full power is both fun and satisfying. ~ Lpvi
  2. Vinewrath as SMC's boss. Need to take that place from all three sides, one at a time. The defenders can have access to several variations of Mordrem tonics, complete with overpowered mechanics.Get some agony in there whilst we're at it. =) ~ Kovu
  3. Gankers remind me of cheesers in RTS games. The bad cheesers know their cheese well but can't follow it up with quality transitional gameplay if things don't go their way. Good cheesers know their cheese well and know when to transition into more standard gameplay. Gankers are carried by their build in the first 5~10 seconds of the fight. That's what they're built to do. That's what their traits and utilities are for. But after those few seconds a good portion of their abilities are on cooldown and if their gank didn't land well they're forced to fight, ya know, properly. The bad players die and/or run away, the good players are able to make the most of the situation and continue the fight. I wouldn't generalize gankers as good or bad inherently, its just one of many different chosen styles of gameplay. ~ Kovu
  4. Stances are not nothing, too. Rangers have a bad rep. ~ Kovu
  5. Welcome to schrodinger's profession, buddy. The profession that's both overpowered and an absolute waste of a slot. You had better get used to taking criticism. I certainly get called out whenever I bring my ranger into a group fight by the people who know I have a spec'd scourge. ~ Kovu
  6. I click my utilities. Fear me!(Seriously though, this game has too many fucking buttons to push and keying something like t/g/h just doesn't feel comfortable to me.) ~ Kovu
  7. To be fair that got nerfed. These days I notice rangers rely more on winter's bite, maul or lol-bow auto/rapidfire for power-based pressure rather than an easily telegraphed move with a tiny radius, 1s cast time that roots the ranger and is usually interrupted in any sort of group environment. I kind of wish worldly impact worked more like Engi's jump shot, even if it meant dealing less damage. That said, generally the warriors I die to are those in my face locking me down with boatloads of CC. I haven't found rifle on them to be so much of an issue. At least not since HoT. ~ Kovu
  8. I wish there were more armor options, outside of some of the cultural armor that showed more fur on Charr, both male and female.Unlike most of the other races where skin is just skin, the fur often has neat patterns that go unnoticed as the application of new armor designs on Charr often feels like somewhat of an afterthought. And people actually wonder why Anet doesn't want to introduce another (likely anthropomorphic) race. ~ Kovu
  9. A straight damage-to-health cap?Really? I suppose it would be an indirect nerf to tankier builds, but why are we suggesting band aid solutions instead of looking to adjust individual skills, utility of trait combinations that overperform? The only thing I feel should have a "damage cap" are the traits, sigils, runes, utilities and such that grant a direct bonus to damage (not actually improving power or condition damage). That's where a lot of these insane numbers are coming from. ~ Kovu
  10. Social Awkwardness week.Make it happen, Anet. ~ Kovu
  11. We haven't heard anything in recent months.Morever, I don't even remember the last time a dev posted in this subforum. It's been a while. I think it was that thread about siege updates, or possibly the thread asking the players for feedback on smaller updates to the gamemode. They may still be working through that. You have to remember they have a finite amount of resources and pve will generally take priority as that's where the majority of the players are. So basically you can assume that its a while off before they tell you otherwise. I doubt they'll post here on Tuesday saying "shit's live on Friday." Something that major, they'll give decent notice. And the second! <3 ~ Kovu
  12. because NA does not have a spanish server. Yet we have many guilds on NA speaking Spanish, Portugese and French. Not to mention Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, German etc. etc. They shouldn't have segregated EU by language tbh. They should have segregated by timezone tbh. D:Giving each timezone their own server would only exasperate the issue described in the first post.Unless you mean force a balance of every timezone for each server -- in which case okay -- though its a semi moot point atm, (with the communities already established and alliances on the way.) ~ Kovu edit- Also, I'm not sure how you'd go about that. People often play at different times each day. To use myself as an example I play PST/OCX up to five times per week (usually thrice) and EU usually once. I almost never play EST despite living in NA. The next guy will be different, but with a comparable amount of variance.
  13. About the only change I'd be okay with is adding line of sight to the line, so at least a portion of the line has to be visible on top of the wall. The thing about that skill is that you never know when they're going to execute the pull, so relying on a dodge is kind of meaningless. So long as you're not on the edge of the wall it shouldn't pull you off -- so have your hand on that dodge key when you see them throwing aoe's up on the wall and if there's a whole bunch perhaps backing off for a few moments would be advisable. The last thing this game needs is for it to be easier for people to sit on siege inside structures all day. ~ Kovu
  14. Maybe someone will see this and start to understand the real causes of problems in WvW lol! Doubt it, but I still keep hoping almost six years later... The TS thing is good. Moan the whole time people needed on TS, never say what TS or channel, never give anyone any time to load up TS then de tag because 5 people aren't on TS. Then boast they aren't nice to anyone.Never had a gear check, although i'm sure some do. However I stick to roaming. Only got myself to blame and doesn't need TS. TS is a bad thing when many are not 'allowed in' and not for any abuses that have ever been done. Discord will take over from the massively abused and elitist TS Wait, who isn't 'allowed in' to teamspeak?Everyone is allowed to use it. ~ Kovu Nope, the owners of the channel can keep anyone out, even those who have never abused anyone. Just a fact that harms the game as much as any other ignored mechanic. And the 'owners' of a discord channel can keep you out as well. How is discord going to be different? Moreover, playing favourites is not an issue with the program, it is an issue with the people using it.Not utilizing teamspeak (or discord) does not prevent you from playing the game.I fail to see how this is a net hindrance. ~ Kovu

  16. I ran into a trapper DH the other day. That very brief stealth wasn't doing him any favors. ~ Kovu
  17. No. But it would neuter the mobility of the classes that build for it. How many non thief and Mesmer classes use their swiftness options? Few to none because it hurts their class. Revamp all the swiftness and mobility options for thief, Mesmer etc, to more combat power or defense then maybe we could talk. Er. The only thing mobility-related that would change if we introduced mounts in the manner which I am suggesting is that the classes with less mobility would effectively have perma swiftness whilst traveling from point a to point b. Mesmers and thieves would still have their teleports in addition to swiftness/mounts. Someone on a mount would not be able to keep up with a blinking mesmer or a shadowstepping thief. Or warriors, rangers and (to a lesser degree) engineers & elementalists for that matter. If you die in a fight and port out, whether you have effective-permanent-swiftness (via the mount) or have to slot and rely on a movement signet while running back wouldn't change the fact that the fight would likely be over by the time you got back, or still going for quite a while if you managed to get back to participate further, slightly sooner. You'd have to hit quite the sweet spot in terms of how long that fight lasts for that 8% difference in movement speed to actually matter. As for combat itself, this wouldn't change anything in combat at all. The classes designated to provide swiftness would still do so and those without investments in personal mobility could still potentially be screwed during the fight. Why are you so worried about the "power creep" of being able to get around maps ever-so-slightly more quickly, sometimes, on some professions? ~ Kovu Edit- This isn't directed at just Strider. This thread's getting a lot of 'no's, but with very few reasons.
  18. Oh noes, people could move around slightly more quickly out of combat. The desert map might actually be manageable. Crap! Not to put too fine of a point on it, the less mobile classes could use the help getting around. The result of what I'm asking for would equate to permanent swiftness while out of combat (and possibly within your team's own territories.)Would that really break the game? ~ Kovu
  19. I think if they introduced mounts to wvw it would be available to owners of PoF who choose to unlock the mastery.Much like with wvw gliding, I don't think there would be any pve involved. And actually, looking at the wiki you don't even need HoT for gliding mastery; only Provisions Master and Shield Generator Mastery require HoT. ~ Kovu
  20. They were somewhat viable before the trapper rune nerf when the traps could be thrown and celestial armor was better.Trapper runes do not work well with rangers in most situations now unfortunately, due to their dealing direct damage breaking the stealth. Actually, thinking about it, I don't think they're that great for guardians or thieves, either. Guardians because their traps deal direct damage and thieves because thief traps are, meh. Also they take up utility slots which are much more needed for other utilities on the profession that ironically is easier to kill whilst they're running a condition build rather than a power build just due to the way the weapons function. Traps could still be fun, but you won't be seeing them in any meta builds. ~ Kovu
  21. It would be a nice aesthetic touch.Just remove the mount abilities, have them move at the normal 33% boosted speed (as if you're running on foot with swiftness) and have them punted if the player takes a hit that puts them into combat.Heck, you wouldn't even need to restrict them to friendly territory. If you wanted to implement a mastery tree that gave them versions of their current abilities (far jump, high jump, teleport etc.) then you'd need to restrict their use to friendly territory. ~ Kovu
  22. There's no loss for someone else helping you with something. That's what sets this MMO apart from many others.I'd honestly be a little more irritated if I was snagging a hero point and someone else came by to just stand there and watch. I'm especially thankful knowing the jumping puzzle daily means almost a guaranteed portal at that jumping puzzle. I like that 2 gold, but some days I don't have more than a few minutes to play. ~ Kovu
