  1. The purpose is to allow people to choose which ones to pick up. You can grab them all, but you don't have to and can still max out your character's specialzations. Secondary purpose is being another map completion objective in additon to pois, vistas, and stuff. If you want map completion, grab them, but if you just want to specialize alt #27, then simply choose the hero points that are most convenient for you and don't worry about the rest.
  2. To be fair, motion sickness from games has been an issue way further back than any gw title. I remember first being hit with it badly when rpg games moved to seamless 3d worlds back in the 90s. I remember looking forward to games like Ultima Underworld, Wizardry 8, or later on Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and never getting past the tutorial in any of those games because the graphics would make me violently sick. With GW2 I've had significant problems when they introduced mounts back with the release of PoF, but have found the settings that agree with me best (and in one case the skin ... the turtle skin is the only skimmer I can safely use for some reason). I remember lots of complaints back then from different people (that all were affected slightly differently). My impression actually was that complaints were worse back then than they are with EoD, but I have no hard data to decide which of the two expansions really has more problems with motion sickness. I did find out that some of it is a question of getting used to how your mouse/keyboard input relates to the movement of your character on screen. I know I have considerably worse problems with motion sickness when playing either Elder Scrolls Online or Genshin Impact, unless I have a stretch where I play one of those games almost exclusively. I find that in that case the time I can play without problems slowly increases, and getting back into GW2 then is more difficult. I do however get back into GW2 in a couple of days, which I suspect is just due to the fact that I've played this game so much over the last decade that my brain has gotten used to its movement a lot more than any of the other games I try. As far as "developers figuring this out", you might as well say "it's 2022, and car manufacturers still haven't figured out how to build a car that doesn't make people motion sick". The human brain is a complicated, highly individual thing, and "making video games motion-sickness proof", while still maintaining somewhat modern graphics, is next to impossible. And to be honest, while there are plenty of us affeccted by this issue, we are likely still a tiny minority among the players of this game. Dumbing down graphics to avoid motion sickness triggers will probably cost the game much more players that are missing their interactive movie, than it will bring in extra people that didn't play because of motion sickness.
  3. You do realize that this game is available in not just one language, but four, right? Standard french, german, and spanish keyboards provide easy access to all the accents and umlauts our languages support, so allowing those languages' characters in names isn't exactly far-fetched.
  4. Neither do I 🤣. So I'm sticking to what's tried and tested.
  5. I wasn't aware I'd have to add all of my guild members to my friends list just to be able to interact with them 1:1 . I don't know if you're a leader/officer in any larger guilds and as such have interactions with dozends of players on a regular basis, but the friends list really isn't built to deal with that amount of players, especially if you're active in more than one guild/community.
  6. Or you could just talk to people. Everyoney can move themselves into sub groups even in leaderless squads, everyone can indicate in chat whether they're ready or not, everyone can mark the next target if that is needed. If you feel the need to "manage" your fellow players, maybe questioning your view of your fellow players and how you interact and communicate with them is the way to go.
  7. That assumes that I only interact with people on my friends list. I do however frequently interact with guild members not on my friends list, and even people I know from e.g. wvw that are neither on my list nor in any of my guilds. I honestly don't see the point of prohibiting interaction just because somebody can't be bothered to find their own name.
  8. I'd hate if they did that. Character names are much easier (for me at least) to memorize. If I want to whisper, group invite, mail a fellow player I can just use any of their character names. If you do away with unique character names you have to know/remember everyone's full account name, including numbers (since account names without numbers aren't unique in this game).
  9. Check my explanation above. I was confused by the description as well, so I tested to see how it really works.
  10. You can't recover time. If you are in Arborstone while your well rested effect is active, you will have two (slightly different) effects in your buff bar: the "well rested" with whatever time you have left on it, and the "resting" effect that counts down the time until it renews the buff (to its full duration). You can't partially refresh the buff. It's all (4 hours in Arborstone) or nothing (buff keeps counting down as long as you're logged in).
  11. Ironically I've only played w1 infantile on the account that got that weapon 😉 . But like somebody else said, I think it actually came from the bag you get for your first three zones each day, not from the zone chest itself.
  12. It's random, and your drops so far seem very lucky to me. I only just got my first glitched weapon on my 11th zone (across two accounts) this year. I did however also drop a hardlight weapon, so I'm not complaining 😉 .
  13. I have no idea what happened, but the first thing that came to my mind when I read the patch notes was whether there have been groups of players kill-trading or even just killing alt account characters to farm loot from the scavenger protocols. Wouldn't be the first time few people have abused rewards for killing players in wvw that way and got things axed for everyone in the process 😞 .
  14. The people I know that have one or two do it for convenience, so they don't have to log around if they want to craft stuff from different crafting professions.
  15. The most important thing is: keep moving. Try moving around her in a circle while auto-attacking. Next try to learn her animations. There's really just two, the one where she starts rotating, and the one where she leans back to the spit out her bees. She only rotates in a straight line, so if you see the animation of her preparing to rotate, try to move out of her way diagonally. If she spits bees, she'll try to follow your direction, so you need to walk/dodge out of the stream of bees in a curve. The rest is just practice. I've fed her countless lives before I have finally got to the point where I can properly spot and react to her animations maybe 80% of the time (I'm old and slow, and easily distracted 😉 ).
  16. Check https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/112412-storm-wizard-bugged-merged/ for a couple of workarounds. ANet is on it, so hopefully the bug will be fixed soon.
  17. That sounds like a bug. Try putting in a support ticket.
  18. If you talk to Moto in Rata Sum, you can ask him: "I'm really hoping for a new level one year." His reply: "I know that waiting can be hard, but I want you and other fans of the Box to know that I'm striving to meet those hopes!" Wether you keep believing him is up to you 😉 .
  19. Looks like they finally fixed this problem!
  20. Did you play back when SAB first released? We had SAB chests and mobs all over the world, in every map. It is one of my fondest GW2 memories 😍. They also had quests back then explaining what's going on, and why stuff appeared everywhere, if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately I lost all of my screenshots of that glorious day in a harddrive crash a couple of months later 😢.
  21. Can you explain what you loved about the game, and what you don't like about EoD? Personally I'm having a great time in EoD. There is so much to find and explore. I'm the kind of player that loves exploring maps and figuring out stuff without guides/wikis, and I have to admit I'm not very focussed, but prefer to play and check out whatever catches my fancy. As such I'm still finding hidden chests and puzzles, figuring out how to get places without brute-forcing with mounts (especially skyscale), learning how to deal with different kinds of events and enemies, and more. Without knowing what you do or don't like about different parts of the game, it's hard to pin-point where your problems may come in. One thing I'm wondering is: if you started playing three years ago, then you haven't experienced the previous expansion launches. One thing that to me sets an expansion launch apart from a living world episode is that the amount of content entering the game is huge in comparison to living world episodes. This leads to players being much more spread out, and knowledge (and especially secrets) about all the content has to offer trickling in much slower. For a player like me that plays to explore, this doesn't make much of a difference, because it can take me months to explore the new content. If you are more of the kind that likes to play "popular" content, then you will have to wait until the initial chaos settles and people find the content niche they like to play. If you are reward focussed, it will take some weeks before the markets will settle and people will have a clear picture of what content will be rewarding or not. Once the popularity of different maps and metas settles, it should also be easier to find groups matching your playstyle. Right now the maps are filled with players with vastly different goals, be it meta events, gathering, map exploration, fishing, story, or whatever. This can lead to maps feeling empty, because people on it simply are busy doing different things that don't necessarily interact with each other.
  22. Honest question: how do you get 4k favors a week? I've been playing mostly in Cantha for the last four weeks, but haven't even reached 2k favors yet.
  23. I had actually been hoping for that as a feature of the Arborstone library. Or at least let us store the books we pick up with the EoD achievements in that library, it's the perfect place for it. Having a display for sigh caught would be nice, too, but there's so many of them (and some lower rarity ones look way more interesting than some of the legendaries 😉) that I'm not sure how to configure such a feature to suit everyone's taste. Personally I'd also prefer a different place than the home instance to display them, since our existing home instances are pretty full already (if you have a lot of the upgrades), and an aquarium just doesn't fit into all of them (imo).
  24. They show up fine for me (in upgrade -> account upgrade). Do you by chance already have bought both licenses for your account? You can only have 4 total (2 baseline plus 2 you can buy). If you've bought them all, the item won't show in the store any longer.
