  1. Steam + GE-Proton 7.25 still works for me, TP is also good, no lags, no crashes. The overall performance is slightly worse that before (I used ArmoredVehicle-s package), but almost never drops under 30, mostly 55-60 (1080p, custom high/med settings). I also see a few lightning/shadow glitches on far objects, but it seems it is common on Windows too since the Tuesday patch. I don't have the time now, but tomorrow I'll make a longer run around. AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Nvidia GTX 1660Ti, Endeavour (Arch), XFCE / X11, up-to-date drivers/kernel
  2. Nothing, just added the exe and selected the Proton compat tool. Edit: It was the same exe that worked until yesterday with the provided, pre-packaged prefix in ArmoredVehicle's latest Nvidia package.
  3. I did my three PvE dailies, played around, made a small gathering run, browsed the TP, etc., everything worked fine.
  4. Confirmed, it works: add gw2.exe as non-steam game and run with Proton GE 7.25,. (But it resets all the settings.)
  5. Also crashes with lutris-GE-proton-7.21. @garpu.6210How did you manage run this?
  6. Not yet, but I'll eventually. (Money is not problem, free time is, and I just never preorder.) > I'm pretty sure a fair number of GW2 players bought the expansion Let's crunch some numbers. First, I assume the registered accounts of gw2eff represent the more active playerbase than the usual "logged at least once in a month" presumptions. Second, Anet is still hiding the EoD info from the API and the Player Stats page doesn't shows it (yet). But there's a way to estimate the actual percentage of the EoD players: the achievements! To reach Cantha, finishing the first chapter of Act 1, Old Friends is required. Checking the Unlock Statistics of this achievement shows... 25% (at the time of writing). To be generous, I rounded up this to ~30% including the silent accounts, teleport to friends (if it is possible), and other methods (I don't know if there's any). It's still a lot less than I thought... (P.S.: Interestingly, the turtle achi shows only 1.78%.)
  7. Let's see what will come out around February that would more or less overlap with EoD: - Lost Ark: Feb 11 - This will be a huge sweep, anything MMO-related around this date might get drown in the sheer amount of buzz this will generate for weeks before and after the release. - Total War - Warhammer 3: Feb 17 - This is not as much danger, but it has a very strong fantasy fanbase. - Destiny 2 - The Witch Queen: Feb 22 - Much less danger, but it has a very strong (albeit a bit dented) IP and much better marketing. - Elden Ring: Feb 25 - It already has a very strong impact on solo fantasy open world crpg fans, so it seems dangerous, but doesn't have MMO parts such as GW2. - ELEX 2: Mar 1 - A black horse? It also can generate some strong force within open world crpg fans. I think the first half of the month is a lost cause, I wouldn't spend a cent on any MMO-related marketing. The most safest release date would be around the beginning of the second half, around Feb 20-22 maybe (Feb 22 is Tuesday, the usual patch/release day)? D2 is very strong on sexy sci-fi aesthetic and looter-shooter action, but it should be safe to promo a fashionable and well known fantasy counterpart.
  8. I think it's a forced re-check, the full game itself doesn't redowloading again, just a few hundreds MBs.
  9. I'm still having this transparency/keyboard issue with DX11, but now I'm sure it's entirely on my side (a desktop theme thing), and could be easily solved by alt-tab forth and back once at the character selection screen.
  10. There're some hidden places on maps that doesn't count against the map completion but for the achievement. In this case, there's a hidden cavern (and a jumping puzzle) at the southeastern part of the map named Demongrub Pits. People usually miss the Beggar's Burrow cavern at north too. These areas doesn't have POIs and such.
  11. It seems I'm still on the previous 2.3.1 version. I downloaded the latest package and I'm going to update it later.
  12. The game crashes on the character selection screen or right after the first mapload. Using "-dx9" in the script is works as usual. I tried "-dx11" too and it works, but the game became slightly transparent even in full screen mode and keyboard doesn't work. (Arch/XFCE4, NVidia GTX 1660 Ti) I'll try and test other options tomorrow too.
  13. I had the latest 461.40 on my GTX 1660Ti until a month ago, then I switched to Linux and DXVK. Never had any problem in the past (except that kitten control panel that was Store-only until I found the hidden driver download subpage on the NV website that had it), and now the gameplay is actually slightly faster and smoother.
  14. I mean, on HoT maps, after a meta, people usually stay and organizing hp runs, calling help for mastery points, etc.. After a PoF meta everyone just left, no one wants to stay there. Today we have the Desolation on daily, and we just finished the legendary forged event. After that, everyone grabbed their rewards and just left, the map emptied in 5 mins. Occasionally I'm doing the Tarir meta, and never had this, even on weekday nights.
  15. The system already in the game: the Core Tyria automatic level adjustment could provide a good basis for this. It works even in different areas of a map. I don't think it is instance-based. Meanwhile I finished the worst PoF map, the Desolation, (mostly) solo with my condi soulbeast. But while I did the PoF maps in the last week, I found a worrisome trend (in EU): many PoF map instances dies down within tens of minutes, even the Lily clears out fast. Last Saturday I had five emptying map warning within an hour (mostly Deso and Vabbi). That's... not good.
  16. I'm not sure about this. Sb base dagger dmg is very weak itself. I did some math, and every +10 power only get about +4 dmg (dagger 1), so +192 power gives only about +76 dmg. That's insignificant in PoF/HoT when we are talking about ~300 base dmg with carrion. Also, the dagger 1 chain is too long and has too few targets (only 2) for wait the 4th skill, Deadly Delivery and it's double damage. Yes, the precision increase could give me more stable crits, but that's also not too big: it's about +9-10% difference (~35%), and I would lose a huge chunk of health (~17k vs 20k). I'm using Vicious Quarry with Live Fast, and dagger 3 to proc Essence of Speed, so when I'm joined with my warthog, my Primal Cry (F3) combined with Moa Stance (or weapon switch to proc Furious Grip and Sigil of Battle for 5 stacks of might) and dagger 3 quickness gives me ~10-12 secs of fury, regen, and swiftness, with about 55-60% crit chance (if I'm timing the whole thing properly). I have Sharpening Stone and Quickening Zephyr too, so every utility (practically every survival skill because of Wilderness Knowledge) gives me fury. I know, condi dmg doesn't crit, but my other damage skills (like F1 Maul) do much better with this.Inceasing condi dmg gives my torch 5 about 15k damage over ~4 secs and ~8k dmg bleeding on dagger 2, for example (using Undead runes and Smoldering sigil).I'm using only viper accessories, and it seems better for that (+20% condi duration). Maybe later, when I feel more confident about my skills, I will convert all the Occam's to Yassith's, but I think I need the extra vitality now as I done most of my battles in melee. But I think this sub-thread starts to divert from the original suggestion.
  17. Yes, sometimes I have the same, only in the PoF maps. There're no enemies around, no lingering conditions, nothing unusual.
  18. I'm not that casual, thanks. Ok, but then what condi sb meta build were you talking about? I'm basically using this, with the torch variant and a warthog, and carrion instead of viper's.
  19. I didn't asked for any nerf, I'm confident in that I could manage better in PoF and my gameplay experience would be better if their aggro range would be the same as in the other zones. That's all.
  20. Then meta sb condi builds aren't meta anymore? Or maybe it is really a l2p issue... :shrugs:
  21. Yes, something like that. Mobs usually aren't an issue, they melt fast - not as fast as a power user, but steadily. But the time until we can mount up our pressure to an useful level is longer, and that could be more dangerous when facing a locked bar enemy - they often ignore the movement and effect-based conditions, and zip through or evade the traps/fields. During that time there's more chance to (re)appear other annoying mobs that could pose a serious threat (sharpshooters, jacarandas, vampire bats, etc.).When I stop for something on the map (gathering, vista, etc.), usually two screenplays happen: With my soulbeast it's often a long and painful hassle until I clear everything that aggroed on me (and I pray I don't attract any more enemies nearby). When I bring in my reaper, I just mow them down fast and jump up to my mount.
  22. I'm a casual player. My two 4+ year old mains is a power no-minions chill shout/well semi-meta reaper, and semi-meta survival/stance condi soulbeast. I have other characters too but I play these two almost exclusively all the time. In PoF my reaper can mow down almost anything, even the locked breakbar veterans and elites too, by brute force, in a half minute, tops. He has a full asc marauder set and weapons (the usual gs + axe/wh combo). This is the level of equipment and pure force that could say "it's manageable easily", or "spamming '1' could kill anything" - this is a big, fat lie, but for the sake of simplicity, let's say it. I can't solo champs or legendaries, but that's the lack of my player skills, of course. My soulbeast is just at the beginning of the item grind, having a full exotic carrion set and weapons (d/t + sb) with some viper's trinkets, and he has some asc here and there, like an Occam's coat and a dagger. He can somewhat manage it in PoF; I soloed and finished almost all the maps, but it is definitely much-much slower than the reaper. He needs much more mobility, dodge, condi clean, weapon swapping, changing the tactics between melee and ranged - it requires much more attention to play. While his hard and soft CCs are much better than the reaper's, since most of the breakbar enemies clearly ignore many condition effects (like slow, or immobility), it is definitely harder and slower to solo kill them until their bar breaks and/or hp melts - while all the enemies start to harass me and mob on me from every corner of the map...But, in HoT, both are viable almost equally. In fact, even my soulbeast can solo some of the hp champs or roaming veteran groups. The significant difference between HoT and PoF is the aggro range / respawn rate and the huge condi spam (huge as in "constantly pulses" and "disgustingly long"...), those are the main problems, and make the life much harder for condi characters in PoF. OP is a condi user, with even better set than me (trailblazer), so I can sympathize with him/her. It is not a "git gud", nor "learn to play" issue, it is some design miscalculation.
  23. I was, but now I'm in the middle of the point between play a bit more, or drop it already. I'm not against the shop, I have both expansions and all the LWS-s, I bought gems and a few useful items too, and don't care all the fashion, so I'm indifferent with that, but I'm so tired of all the new different maps with different mechanics, the different (and usually time-gated) new map currencies to collect for some map-specific not-so-useful-but-must-have thingy, the different new masteries to grind to not to be frustrated too much with all the new mechanics on these specific maps, the different resources to harvest to craft very specific (and often time-gated) components, the different old contents and concepts that I loved but abandoned for different (and unspecified) reasons, the imbalanced economics that causes more frustrations (you have to revise your old core recipes, ffs!), and such.I feel I was in the target group: a guy with money and a lot of free time after work to play strictly PvE, who completely avoids pvp/wvw, or raids, fractals, or any so-called "end game" content, because they sound more like work than fun (for me, of course), but could play hours of events and work for various achievements and crafts (except legendaries; they're s.ck). I love to play, to explore, to help others just for the collective gameplay feeling and not for the social activity. I loved the old core campaign, even the bizarre and exotic events in the LWS2 too, but I felt something broke in HoT, and especially in PoF. I have yet to finish them both, but I don't feel it will happen soon. I see they want to show everything new and different within every new map, and because of these they become too packed and overweight, and fizzle too fast. So yeah, I think I'm not in the target group anymore.
  24. If it isn't similar like what they did in Rift then ANet shouldn't bother with it. The housing there was a form of... art, not just a "mandatory" room feature like in ESO. And you had many chances to get items, decorations, building blocks, even keys for different places. Guild houses (taverns, etc.) also worked in this system, the members could add their items to the halls. You had to pay only for the latest, hot places and items, and to increase the capacity of the place, everything else was obtainable in-game (via vendors or drops too).
