Today was my first time trying, I was in a group that was doing the Captain Fa portion, we did everything successfully and moved on to the next phase, my group and the others all seemed to be rolling along fine, and the next thing I know, we got a "very few players on the map" popup and then the whole map closed. Never even got to the Soo-Won part. So that was fun. Does that happen often? Hoping for better luck over the weekend.

I got to the Jade Sea yesterday and decided to go ahead with the story without waiting. (I have another character that's a little behind on the story that will wait to do the meta first for completeness' sake). Pretty nervous about this, tbh.

Big Spender, Master of Monuments, Caravan Disruptor, and Veteran Creature Slayer are all things you can do in WvW that don't involve killing other players. None of these need a warclaw, either.

Old lady ranger here too...condi soulbeast has taken me thru the game for years now. You got this! My setup is shortbow and axe/dagger. I find axe/dagger really handy in melee situations.

1st try, got all the way to the final cores, and got stuck inside a box.

I would like that too...at least when it's clear that I've slowed down to stop, I can see why you wouldn't want to do that at high speeds. All in all I like the skiff and have grown to like fishing too. The way my asura cheers when she catches a fish is a lot like how I've reacted to real-life fishing. She's a lot better at it than me though. :)

I got this after the patch on Tuesday. I didn't find this thread so I ended up reinstalling. Oh well, it's all good now. 🙂

Thank you Desh. You're right about the camera zoom out, when I got back from being stomped the first (or second? third? time - hard to remember) my camera got zoomed out for me automatically which gave me a much better view.

I just did the Echovald meta this afternoon, I happened along right before it started and someone was setting up food and banners at the start point. I'm new to the zone so part of it was still unexplored for me, but I was able to get to a couple of the red zones before the last parts in the junkyard. The end felt like pure chaos...so much visual noise going on that I had no idea what it was trying to teach me but I did see someone say something in map chat about standing in white circles after a bunch of us got clobbered. Still it was very hard to tell what was going on and hard to tell what the NPC was shouting about in the midst of all the combat noises. I pretty much followed everybody else when the last thing moved from place to place, got stomped a few more times but made it thru to the end (glad that's over). Dragon's End is like this but dialed up to 11? And takes two hours to complete? Hoo boy, not looking forward to that at all.

I found that my renegade was taking a lot more damage in EoD than I was used to, so I looked around to see what I could find out about that. I ended up changing up my runes and sigils and so far I'm doing better with it. I hope you can find a build that works for you. My mace/axe setup is earth/geomancy, and my shortbow is earth/doom. I may switch out the doom sigil, I tend to use my mace/axe in combat a lot more than my shortbow so I'm not sure if that's what I'll settle on yet. I kept my viper's armor and am using elementalist runes in them.

Mostly because I paid for it.

I'm going to be a bundle of nerves the first time I step into this map. I hope I get one where people are explaining stuff. I don't like feeling like I'm going to inadvertently mess it up for everyone. Not a happy thought.

This is exactly how I feel too. I'm shocked at how quickly it happened. I'm not even half-way thru the story and I've lost interest. I hope something happens to bring my enthusiasm back.

Yes. I started off strong but reading about the meta has really demoralized me right now. I just did dailies after reset and logged off for the past few days. I'm sure I'll perk up again and get back to it, I enjoyed what I've seen so far.

This is concerning to me because I often got messages during DragonStorm that said something like "due to inactivity, you are no longer participating in..." events that I was actively working on at the time that I got them. Or else I'd get this message long after the particular event was done. I got one of these messagse the other day while doing the meta in Shing Jea. It feels buggy, is what I'm saying.

This is pretty much what I was coming here to say. I did the whole rest of the story solo. I don't care about the turtle but I do want to finish the story and see this fight. By the time I get there, it could be that more changes are made. The feedback so far makes me really not want to even try it now. Not because of the difficulty, but because it seems like a real time sink, with a much higher chance of failure than of success. I will do my best and read up beforehand but it sounds like a really frustrating experience overall.

I'm really enjoying it too. I love New Kaineng City so much! So much to see and so beautiful! Fishing and the skiff are both things I know I'll spend lots of time with. I'm taking my time with the story so there's lots more in store for me to get to, that's the high points for me so far. Agree with all your other points too.
