  1. I had thought that they were outsourcing at least some of the cosmetics. A few outfits and chairs did seem to be generic mmo assets. The holographic outfit and the personal gyrocoptor chair/glider were the most glaring. No culture on Tyria has a technologicle asthetic that looks like those items. For all I know the odd skins could be cut Aeon content.
  2. I do wish that there was something to see with the chatoyant lense equipped. It could have been a cat clinging to our back, or a cape with a cat rampant silhouette. This is still funny, and useful. For all I know the cape may be visible inside the Super Adventure Box.
  3. I used to play an mmo called Wakfu. I hated the changes that they made to it over the years. I still drop by their forums occasionally out of morbid curiosity. A few times I even updated the client and logged in. Part of it is nostalgia. Part is a hope that they will change classes or mechanics back to what they were by accident. They already did this with one mechanic: Willpower. They removed it from the game and removed it from all equipment without balancing that equipment. Five years later they added a new stat called "Force of will" which is functionally identical to willpower. Edit: so I can understand if a person who quits a favorite mmo still visits the forums. Hope and nostalgia are quite inconvenient emotions.
  4. So now they know that we know. Of course that means that we know that they know that we know. However. Knowing that someone knows something isn't the same as knowing what someone knows. Now, there is no knowing if what little we know is actually useful knowledge.
  5. Someone compared the possible GW3 with Diablo 4. What about comparing GW3 to Overwatch 2? Overwatch 2 has very similar gameplay to the original. No player aquisitions or achievements were ported over to the sequel. Blizzard just announced that the development of the Overwatch 2 story campaign has been abandoned. Blizzard developed both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2. I could see GW3 as a partial release with just WvW and SPvP, with the promise of pve at a later date. Then abandoning PvE instead. Corporations like to copy one-another, but they don't seem to learn from each other very well.
  6. Considering the age of the account you are writing with, I assume you are posting with a throwaway alt. How would you expect Anet to find your discord server among the hundreds of thousands of discord servers in existince? Do you expect betrayal within your discord? How would Anet link the discord with any particular account at all? Even with an "informant" there is no proof. For that matter, you aren't even using the character names. I assure you that every modern character shares traits with numerous historical characters across every culture. You have described making a couple of AI chat bots. Any resemblence to Guildwars characters is superficial at best. No rules are broken, and there is nothing to enforce. Even current Ritlock only vaguely resembles the Ritlock of ten years ago. You have quite the ego, to think your vague AI prompts constitute legally indistinguishable copies of existing characters.
  7. I assume that the service contracts weren't always at 0.03% Since I have opened two of them, in the past. One at 0.03% I can believe, but two? I am not that lucky and haven't opened nearly enough chests. I left for several years and came back, I have skipped several incarnations of the black lion chest because the chase item just didn't interest me. I know that a sample size of one is too small, but still.
  8. I hope their players all felt cheated and left. To be told that all of that investment was applied to an actual impossibility should be sobering.
  9. I always thought the announcing the high rarity pulls were just a ploy by gatcha games to convince players that pulling the super ultra mega rare wasn't that difficult. I mean look, ten people in a row just opened one within the past few seconds. Never mind the fact that thousands of players are currently opening gatcha packs and only ten people managed to pull the ridiculously rare gatcha. Of course no one is making those games post the winners in real time either, or preventing them from posting the same lucky player names every ten or so minutes.
  10. that being the case, I guess the drop rate for getting any uncommon drop is 60% with a golden key, and 0.15% to get a service contract. That leaves a 39.85% chance to get a rare when you use a golden key. (though some rares are far more likely to drop than others, if you get a rare) Basically golden keys give you a 60% chance at a random uncommon, and 40ish% chance to get some kind of rare. The super rares being negligible. 20 uncommon at 3% each = 60% 5 super rare at 0.03% each =0.15% then the absurdly vague rares in a range of 0.3% to 2%. We know that there are 25 of them and that there is 39.85% remaining out of 100%. We only know the minimum and maximum thresholds, and that several have to be near 2% because 25 of the 0.3% won't give us a complete 100%
  11. So a golden key changes the 10% to 100% Does it also affect the other numbers? A 5th item is guaranteed with a golden key. There are 50 items, so it's 3%, 2%-.3%, and .03% of 50 rather than out of 100. So 3% should be 1.5 times out of 50 we would get a specific common, 1 time out of 50 we will pull one of the more common rares, and .015 times out of 50 we would get a particular service contract. Nothing adds up though. The golden key forces a fifth drop, but from these numbers I still have no clue what my chances are to get a skiff skin. For that matter after you collect the two exclusive skins, the odds of getting everything else should improve. Either the exclusives are replaced on the drop table or the drop is re-rolled. A golden key won't allow anything else. Another interesting note: we used to be able to preview the keys the same way we preview the black lion chests. It would bring up the same menu screen. I had hoped that I could preview a golden key and see adjusted drop chances. Anet seems to have taken that into account by removing the ability to preview either type of black lion chest key.
  12. This doesn't happen in all meta maps? I remember in Auric Basin that as soon as the octovine chain starts all of the non-octo events just stop. Kinda annoying when I tried to solo a giant golden ooze and it just vanishes because Tarier was under siege from the mordrum.
  13. Elder dragon minis would be nice. I would have thought that we would have them by now.
  14. Ah, you just want to merge with Crystal Dragon Jesus, and have a "religious experience." You find bards in every game.
  15. Sharing your home instance is a part of the social aspect of an mmo. Much like placing a guild banner, bonfire, or feast during a festival event. The home instance allows you to be generous and to receive gratitude. Actual new players can be quite impressed, and it gives them something to strive for. That was my reaction years ago, and now I can impress newbies myself.
  16. It was the suggestion, of a concept. The idea of using a mount responsibly. I am aware that there are no rules or skills called mount etiquette in the game. Player behavior can absolutely influence others. I would be foolish to claim that social constructs affect everyone, but they do influence the majority of people. If group influence wasn't effective then social sciences would not be a thing. "Grind the universe down to the finest powder and sift it through the finest sieve. Then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy. And yet you act as if there is some ideal order in the world, as if there is some rightness in the universe by which it may be judged." -Death
  17. Can the trunk be previewed before opening? Just incase.
  18. Perhaps we will get a legendary teleport tome. It would fit in with the new legendary rule about unlocking features. We couldn't use the legendary tome to teleport until we buy the teleport scroll for an area.
  19. Or we could educate players about courtesy. Mount etiquette. Remember, shunning is a part of etiquette. If a person persists in rude behavior, after being asked to stop, we collectively avoid and ignore that player. I understand the position. You have no control over how players play with their mounts, so you blame the mounts for the bad behavior. Since you can't get the problem players removed from the game, you make an appeal to have the siege turtles removed instead.
  20. I currently cannot buy more bag slots. Anet isn't adding more bank tabs. A single inventory slot to hold my teleport tomes would be nice. I suppose that they could make it a jade bot module instead. The Canthan map app.
  21. Actually, how many more stat combinations would Anet release for armor? What is left that would be useful? Saying that new stat combinations will have to be unlocked for use in legendary equipment might not mean much. Edit: I suspect the new legendary rule was made specifically for legendary relics. Including the other legendaries in the rule seems to be an empty attempt at "fairness." If that is the case then I don't expect Anet will alter their new rule.
  22. Ah! So what you want is for Anet to be more vague when describing new content. That way the announcements are subject to wild speculation. More hype is generated for new content because of speculation and theory crafting. No one will be able to quibble about specifics upon release because of the vague language used for the announcement. Anet should probably use these types of words and phrases in all content announcements: similarly, adjacent to, very much like, nearly all, somewhat like, for the most part, largely, usually, often, likely to, ect. Pleanty of corporations sprinkle such language throughout official announcements to temper customer expectations and hedge against any accidential omission. Is that what you as a customer want?
  23. So long as it isn't an event that only triggers when another specific event fails. Those were such a bad idea. We had half of the map population working against itself because of those type of events.
  24. Well they did those flame armor sets a few years ago. Those were just existing armor with fire and glow effects added. If they recycled armor like that again it would be an opportunity to update the dye channels ect. They probably should just release premium gemstore versions of each armor set. Perhaps without the extra glow or elemental effects. Ideally they would also remove some of the extra spikes, ropes, and shashes that just add clutter. I would buy them.
  25. There is pleanty of room on Tyria for entire civilizations that the humans just haven't traveled far enough to discover. Tyria is actually a massive planet. If you look at the globe in the order of whispers headquarters, you will see that Tyria is mostly rock and sand. There are large patches of water, but nowhere near as high a percentage as found on Earth. When you look at one of those patches on the globe, then think about the bodies of water that we have encountered, the scale is surprising. All of Magumma jungle is the green moss that grows around the edges of a mud puddle. The Guildwars story has been focused around civilizations that are near the last human settlements. Tyria is so large that we have only explored a small fraction of the surface. We are ants that float across a puddle in leaf boats, and declare that we have crossed the entire world.
