This game has, like, 2.5 truly distinct build styles and mentalities across all of its class options.  Portal is dead, and that skill's "allied use" clause was the only thing that kept Mesmer from historically being nothing more than a "clunkier, purple thief."  Mesmer isn't any different that any of the other classes.  It still kneels to line-of-sight, it still does super basic rotations in order to affect the field, it still prances around in the background until all of its best, risk-insulating attacks are off CD, and (if you're playing conquest) it will still die when it boops its nose against my Sanctuary bubble.

Get off your horse and go play a game with depth if you want to complain or criticize someone about how he or she handles some sub-systems therein.  GW2 ain't it, and you're likely already on some level of self-destruction because of this behavior.

Well depending on your build you do. If you're playing powerblock Mirage you are playing a roamer with high mobility. Your job is to +1 fights and use your mobility to decap. If you're playing power Chrono you are playing a roamer, your job is to wipe the enemy off the face of the earth as fast as possible. You are looking to +1 and take match ups you are good into.
