End of dragons and Endwalkers

Recommended Posts

part of innovation is to continue on the path that is allready there. What if someone invented the wheel, but it stopped there and people stopped evolving and re-using the concept in new inventions? We would never have bicycles, cars, etc.

Having things in the game that also exist in other games, movies, magazines, books, etc only shows the innovation. It should not matter where the inspiration came from.

I think OP problem is their big lack of culture, so they have to compare everything to the only thing they know (GoT/Star Wars) and see enormous smiliarities when it's just generic titles or unrelated "similarities".

GoT didn't invented "X of Y" and even less undead armies or ice-themed villains

That wasn't the OP, they just commented that it was interesting that 2 MMOs were releasing expansions with 'end' in the name within about a year of each other. They haven't posted in this topic since the first post.

It's other people who came in later who started making comparisons to other media, and claiming it shows a lack of creativity. It seems like the topic has drifted a bit from where it started.

Not only are your cool / edgy "better alternatives" completely subjective. You also hit the nail on the head as to why they are likely inappropriate for the title. You have 0 knowledge of what the expansion is about. Both titles are directly linked to the story as pointed out earlier in this thread.

There is only many story you can fit up for dragon to, aenet tried to innovate with kalka and jojormag but people start to have enough to see only dragons .... the best antagonist of the game are not even dragon (white mantle and joko..., oops it's from gw1), even if they had few good idea for some of them.

Well Joko is gone he was a scooby snack. As for the rest outside of dragons what else is a world ending threat that brings the races together?

Very embarrassing....

Being original is a risk for big companies now

How you relate Heart of Thorns to Game of Thrones is ridiculous given the only similarity is "of Th", guess that means Eye of the North is also a rip off of Game of Thrones. The name Heart of Thorns is strictly about Mordremoth's domain, and is even a named location in the game.

Every release name attributed to GW and GW2 has a direct relation to a core principle of the campaign. Factions? About Kurzicks and Luxon factions. Nightfall? Prophecy about Abaddon's return. Eye of the North? A location. War in Kryta? Name on the tin. Heart of Thorns? Where Mordremoth sits. Path of Fire? God of Fire's path of destruction.

Continue such with the LW episode names...

Yes, comparing "Heart of Thorns" with "Game of Thrones", which have nothing in common cotent- and namewise,
is
a bit embarrasing. ;)

Except we're fighting white walkers right now in the story lol

So because we're fighting "white walkers" in Icebrood Saga (technically not, because icebrood are not dead), that makes Heart of Thorns a rip of Game of Thrones name... how? There was no politics in HoT, nor any undead or ice things.

Well, years ago during Season 1, Mike O'Brien said, he saw Game of Thrones as kind of a role model for the storytelling in GW2 and they want to achieve with GW2 the same suspense and feeling that nobody and nothing is safe. I guess, thats why they destroyed Lions Arch, and why the HoT-maps were dangerous (at release) and some (main?) characters died during HoT.

So, GW2 "Heart of Thorns" and "Game of Thrones" have more in common than "nothing".

With mental gymnastics like this one could will a gw3 into existence. Keep it up.

ok than tell me the originality of gw2 story telling name 1 new thing

So havig a sense of suspense and killing off main characters makes you a clone of game of thrones?

As for original beats of gw2 storytelling idk, i dont think its that original but its beat to me never felt like they were going beat for beat for the kind of thing, GoT was doing other games have also upped the stakes by destroying cities and killing main characters, its not a by default GoT element. Id say the way the mists work is kind of cool and diff than the afterlife/space in other games.
