Anyone up for this? The return of Dwarf

Blergh. I liked the direction they went with the dwarves in GW1, sacrificing a whole race to delay an elder dragon and its minions, with the occasional survivor here and there. It would feel really cheap if it turns out a larger number of them has been alive and kicking all these centuries. Kinda like how the Forgotten where supposed to be basically extinct and now we are neck deep in Branded Forgotten everywhere. Cheap. Blergh

I am quite happy this franchise has avoided stereotypical elf and dwarf races as playable and would like the latter to stay transformed below ground battling Primordus minions... rather have Kodan, Tengu, Skritt as playable.

Just as our original Guild Wars characters once knew naught of the existence of asura, norn, skritt, quaggan, those blue aquatic guys, etc., there may be unstoned (and friendly) dwarves... dwarfs? ...that our GW2 characters have yet to encounter, lurking in remote (or right next door but mysteriously inaccessible) regions.

@Meridian.4983 said:Maybe there will be a hidden ritual uncovered by Ogden in the Priory. Then he can live up to his name and heal the stone dwarfs. If we need a reason to be under the Shiverpeaks, can it be hunting down Braham to free Rox from his idiotic influence?;)

This is a cool idea. I like it, especially the part about making the connection with his name, Stonehealer. It would be a very interesting direction to take the story, and I'd love to see more about the dwarves. Heck, if they eventually become a new playable race out of it, you'd certainly get no complaints from me! ;) Of course the Tengu would be amazing too, but I digress. It would be fun to see more Ogden in the spotlight as he's been becoming a bit more prominent lately.

The Dwarf has to come back, we still see the darn destroyers in Tyria level 20 areas and there is a darn world boss named mega destroyer, not saying we can use that race but bringing the stone dwarves in for a meta event that help those stonies to kill another mega destroyer for some rare ascended mats and legendary mats or some special collection items will be very nice. Stonies need help, we go escort them, and go into some lava place in the ice land, and found a hidden destroyer, and some asuran MOX dudes going in and create some story.

Thats not entirely the same... the dragon can resurrect the dead AND then brand them. Its specifically shown in a cuscene that he has in fact Death magic from Zaithan.

i hope dwarfs come back soon, maybe in ls4. could lead us from queensdale to the tengu area to pof crystal desert to southern shiverpeaks to discover the stoned dwarf. ls5 could be inside an addon eotn and unlock all areas from the old gw1 eotn. underground we find a way to turn them back into flesh and they become a playable race. id like some small , fat grumpy unfriendly dwarf with his hammer :D

only one FF had those. FFXI.FFXIV the Neo-Mithras (don't know their names) are hairless humans that grew catears and a tail. Galkas were never furry and Tarus were never furry. Especially in FFXIV.

I actually enjoy that the GW-universe has steered away from traditional fantasy races like elves, dwaves ect in favor of more unique things.Sure, people may say that Asura are "basically gnomes" and Sylvari are "basically elves" and so forth, but Anet has done some really cool twists that I like with old tropes.

I would like to know how Sylvari is any way elves. I'm not seeing it. Not in personality or even looks (not just talking ears) or even backstory.I can see the Asura one though.

I don't see it either. I think the argument was: Likes plants and forests/treehuggers = elves.

I like that Humans are an old race and not a "young race".I like that the war-happy race (charr) is organized military and not barbarians.I like that the small intelligent race is into magic technology and not steampunk.I like that the mountain-race are transforming half-giants and not tolkien-dwarves that speaks with scottish accent.I like that the natural race is young and curious and not ancient and wise.

Except that one mountain race giant that has the scottish accent going "TAKE HEED! I HAVEN'T TAKEN LEAVE OF MY SENSES! I'VE SEEN CREATURES OF "MEKKLE" AND STEAM!"Might be my heats but I hear Mekkle or "Meh-kuhl" and not Metal.

I guess I don't know too much on elves as I've never seen them as treehuggers.
