  1. You’re right. Ranger/slb also had access to passives, unfortunately one of them still remains on NM. You could have a free stun break on 60icd on an already used traitline. War and thief were probably among the worst when it came to passives tho. Yes as you said yourself dmg or rather TTK has not changed much in the lower end (when 2 ppl who run zerk stats fight, for example) because of nerfs and changes that just let other builds viable after the feb, and following patches. But it did help overall in the high end of TTK (2 bruisers or 1 bruiser vs someone pretty tanky). The bell curve of TTK still needs adjustment.. tanks can still brush off a lot of burst builds and make them hit like wet noodles.. and dying in 1s probably isn’t preferable at the low end either, although skill is a bigger factor there as it is often possible to stay alive for at least around 10-20s in a low TTK fight unless you’re getting badly outplayed. i suppose I should clarify, the passives alone didn’t prevent low TTK, but many factors made bruiser builds too strong to make it worth playing low TTK builds. After bruisers and boons , passives etc etc got nerfed those builds are now able to see the light of day.
  2. ? Different person or different account? A lot of builds were utilizing passives. Some mitigated dmg, others mitigated CC. Both of those will keep you alive longer.. that’s why it’s now easier to run high dmg builds, cus there are less carryme passives saving ppl when they would’ve otherwise taken lethal damage.

  5. Res skills and traits are literally the only thing DS is balanced around, and those skills and traits aren’t even balanced, way too strong.
  6. Rather than update LB I’d prefer having them take a look at MH axe, sword , MH dagger and torch. Why did WH get new update while weapons that were used even less got nothing?
  7. Everyone needs to specify if they are referring to spvp or wvw…I’m referring to wvw here. Axe only works on very tanky setups as it lacks defensive skills and needs to be able to facetank more damage. Soulbeast is currently top tier roaming spec along with holo, scrapper and thief because of their high damage from range and good defensive rotation with gs. axe MH can be used but you’re gonna have a hard time with it cus if you use it instead of lb you have less range and less defense, or instead of gs you have 2 projectile sets and less defense. axe OH can be used in some builds in wvw but it is still worse than gs lb. spvp is a different story tho. Lb kinda sucks there. Whether or not slb can be “touched” just depends on what kinda stats you run and traitlines. Sure, ws bm slb with commanders and durability can live pretty much forever in a 1v1 but that doesn’t mean much if you can’t kill enemy either. Thief will still kill it tho. holo and scrapper beats it. Even heralds can at top tier gameplay can beat slb about 50% of 1v1s or close.

  9. I’ll have to agree here. Balance was not good back then. Ele was legit so strong pvp players would stack 5 of them in their tournaments and WIN. that’s why there’s a class limit to this day. I tried it myself at the time to see how it worked and it was literally just a cookie cutter rotation that you repeated indefinitely until enemy died.

  12. Mb I’ll edit post, but I’m referring to wvw. It just doesn’t have any dmg tbh and the condis are wasted on power build. It has potential with the leap into smokefields but it’s too clunky and not enough dmg or utility other than the leap.
  13. Conditions stacking intensity.. isn’t that already a thing???? The more bleeds you apply the higher the tick.. they already got rid of duration stacking burns like.. what? 5-6 years ago?
  14. I can’t speak for all classes but.. 1, 300s icd traits need rework asap. 2, stealth. I want a mechanic that punishes prolonged or excessive stealth abuse. It leads to bad combat. My suggestion: you can stealth for 6s max, after that time you will be revealed for 6s. Any time you leave stealth you get revealed for 6s. DE would need a slight rework after this, but it would be worth it. 3, I’d like to see a lot of skills reworked to require more skill to pull off. Example would be ranger rapidfire, DH trueshot, other ranged abilities that aren’t aoe and require ground targeting. I want skills like i mentioned to need to be aimed with mouse or direction, whichever user chooses. This promotes more skillful and fun gameplay. It just seems kinda silly ranger can have such hard hitting burst skill from long range and player doesn’t even need to aim. Pretty much all ranged weapon abilities that aren’t magic based should be either aimed or ground targeted. Remove target requirement for casting melee skills, you now have to face the direction you’re attacking in melee and have to aim (but only in the general direction since melee already has larger hitbox so it’s not that big of a difference anyway) My goal is just to make skill much more meaningful and impactful. Certain classes feel like they have much higher skill ceilings cus they aren’t limited by needing a target to cast melee skills or simply having more options that are skillful and shine at high tier gameplay. 4, boons need nerf. I don’t notice to much of a problem with might, but most defensive boons are just all over the place with lots of builds having extremely high uptime on protection. I’d go as far as to say anet needs to apply boon duration nerfs to runes in wvw the same way they did in spvp and maybe even reduce the effectiveness of the concentration stat. 5, Classes: (from wvw perspective) *Thief:* Nerf the SA traitline. DD spec currently has no noticeable tradeoffs compared to what they get in return. They shouldn’t have both the ability to stealth on demand for a long time, apply weakness, dodge 3 times, have 33% DR and the best mobility. DD was supposed to be a monk style fighter that didn’t rely on stealth. Good idea, but ppl just abuse the SA traitline to get even more defensive utility. Core of them problem is basically just SA. *Ranger:* fix the slb dagger MH, it is really bad for both condi and power. Slightly increase hitbox radius on axe #4 so it’s slightly easier to land. Only slightly. Rework rapidfire to be a buff that increases your atk speed by 50% and increases dmg of AA by like 33% for the next 3-4 hits, but now you have to actually aim. So you will deal around same dmg if all atks land as with current rapidfire, but you can miss and lose dmg. Slightly increase hitbox to not make it too difficult. rework hunters shot so that it now leaps backwards kinda like Lightning reflexes but without the evade, for a shorter range, still applies stealth on hit. (to compensate for having to aim all the skills on lb) Shortbow I’m not too sure about but why not just buff their dmg by 40% (cus the dmg already sucks) but ofc you have to aim Nerf Dolyak stance. Either remove 33% DR that stacks with protection boon like it does now, or remove the stab. Increase cooldown by like 10-15s. Other stances feel weird and useless. Rework the boon and weakness proc on NM. They were supposed to remove all passives long ago. please give rangers utility kits or transformation utilities so we have more skills? I’d happily trade some other nerfs in return. *Mesmer:* buff. Especially power. *Guardian:* remove all passive aegis procs.
  15. I think it’s important to specify which game modes we are discussing as both pve, pvp and wvw respectively have huge differences these days. It’s not like back in the day.

  17. ? What are you fighting exactly? You mentioned Smallscale fights so I’m assuming that’s what you do mostly? Are you implying that it’s pointless to try and use RF or just barrage? when i say RF is very strong it’s because of the range, channeled cast( for stealth tracking) and the very high damage output. I don’t think there’s any weapon in the game that has 900-1500 range that hits as hard as RF from a single ability with no prior setup. Feel free to correct me on this. since no DS event is now over, barrage is very good to cleave downed players from save distance. Each tick is usually around 2k for me, so that adds up quickly when an enemy is trying to res an ally. You can also use it after hunters shot as a way to defend yourself from incoming melee attacks. I tend to do this often if I know enemy is swapping weapons to melee, i cast it on myself and now they either have to wait it out which means you can freecast on them, or eat cripple and 2k ticks repeatedly unless they can force me away, but that’s why you have smoke assault. Couple that with OWP, enemy will take a TON of damage if they don’t dodge or block this combo.
  18. LB is literally the single greatest long range weapon in the game, period. Equip a rangers LB skills to any power based class/spec and they will be better than they were without it. It has 1 defensive skill, a very useful utility CC skill, very high power damage from such a long range. Even without sicem or OWP, RF alone on the right stats and build can easily dismount ppl in wvw. Barrage is actually crazy strong, i think you’re just using it wrong. Even in 1v1 or 1vX situations it can be useful. ever since anet buffed barrage it has actually become a very good skill, but because it locks you in place you have to be careful of when to use it. The problem with your suggestion is that soulbeast in particular already has too many offensive+ defensive capabilities, meaning things that are a “must dodge/block”. If you don’t dodge out of an entire RF+OWP, you can die. Same with smoke assault+OWP. Adding even more dmg capabilities to LB would be very bad imo. Soulbeast already feels like a spec that’s too easy to get good results with on WS traitline paired with some boon duration. With you suggestion, if enemy ranger attacks you from 1200-1500 range, you have to dodge RF, you have to dodge the new hunters shot you suggested, you have to dodge smoke assault, and then you gotta dodge takedown, WI, GS#5, maul. It’s too many things. Meanwhile he can just use dolyak stance so you can’t CC him as a way to defend yourself. And even after all that, ranger can still just use smokescale stealth leap and do it all over again, just without sicem and OWP.
  19. You’re talking from perspective of unequal skill levels. Who would’ve thought that small group who uses res skills can take advantage of DS to kill larger group of inferior players? you need to think about it differently instead of just your own perspective because you keep assuming enemy is either worse than your group or isn’t abusing DS mechanics as much as your group.
  20. DS helps big group much more than small group regardless of the scale of the fight. this is not an opinion, this is a fact. i don’t think big group needs more help , considering they already have more numbers. this applies to all scales of battles, but you can’t get that through your head.

I don’t care about large scale, so I’m just gonna list a few mmorpgs I’ve played in the past and know. WoW, Tera, FW, PW. None of these games have DS and 2 of them were pretty popular. But here’s the thing… I don’t play these games simply because they lack 1 bad mechanic that gw2 has. Gw2 is more than that. I can’t believe I have to explain this to you, simply incredible. Why do you insist on changing nothing? Next time you complain about anything at all, should I just tell you to play something else????
  22. Have you played literally ANY OTHER mmorpg, or any MMO? DS in gw2 is a gimmick. I’ve played since 2013 btw so I know how to deal with it, but that doesn’t change how stupid it is. You sure you’re not just getting carried by it?
