  1. Soulbeast with skirmishing, and beastmastery with 0 condi cleanse other than sigils for as much dmg as possible for wvw solo roaming. I die like 10 times per hour lol.
  2. Soulbeast is dead simple really. Beast mastery, WS and soulbeast. Durability runes. We heal as one, dolyak stance, protect me, sicem, one wolf pack. now you have crazy burst damage but also enough sustain to win nearly every 1v1 encounter and you should be able to 1vX easily.
  3. So because thief is thief, thief should be allowed to have unlimited tries, remove all blocks, bait dodges all while remaining in stealth and still get the backstab in without losing anything in return because… it’s thief?
  4. The only problem with conditions is the ones that can stack burst levels of condi. It’s intended to be DoT, but some specs apply so many stacks that it becomes a burst. Confusion , burn and torment come to mind. also about the condi roamer meta.. dude. Imagine if you got pulled into a nade bomb. You’d be dead before you could start clearing the condis from cherald. It’s not really the condis in that situation, it’s the aoe spam and supports.
  5. I’m all for removal of gliding and mounts.. and downed state.. but definitely not food and asc gear.
  6. When I go stealth on my soulbeast and miss an attack while in stealth, my skills actually go on cooldown unlike yours. LMAO. and all classes except thief have a limited amount of stealth available wheras thief can just stay stealthed until their backstab is ready again.
  7. Since I’m really bored At work today I’m gonna give you a brief overview of the very basics. In the wvw menu you can see all the wvw maps in a current matchup. The team colors aren’t important, but you can be on any color. Matchups last 1 week from friday to Friday. You might be red team 1week, blue the next. Eternal Battleground is a map that is evenly divided between all 3 teams, each have the same amount of camps towers and keeps, with a massive keep in the middle of the map that is being fought over. As for the borderlands, each team have their own map. Borderlands maps are skewed towards the team that maps belong to. They start with the biggest objective on that map, other teams start with much less. red team has the desert map which is the same core principle just a different design. Each tower keep and garrison has walls and gates you can break through with siege like catapults, rams and trebuchets. You can buy siege from npcs in wvw or on the TP. but to build siege, you need supply. You get supply from supply camps, they are scattered around every map. These camps can be taken over solo with the right build. the goal is to hold as many objectives as possible for as much time as possible throughout the weeklong match. Like I mentioned before, use the chat and join your server’s discord to get involved. Commander tags will usually be where people gather together. Also ask if any guilds are recruiting.
  8. You know what commanders tag looks like on minimap? That’s how you find players. If there’s no tag , ask in /team chat where the people or fighters are at. The reason I ask you to watch tutorial is because you seem to not have a basic understanding of the game mode in the first place, not even the menus and maps. It’s important to understand this before you go out on your own. Wvw can be somewhat of a sandbox gamemode, so if you don’t know what’s going on, wvw will feel very empty and boring to you even tho there might be huge fights going on without you even realizing it.
  9. Eh, seeing how slow they are with balance this could take years. They already started on it, then stopped. Look at berserker, pretty much unviable cus it’s the only one that got significant tradeoffs while most classes got very very minor tradeoffs or none at all lol
  10. I’m more interested in what kinda skills they will bring and how it will affect soulbeast + new spec. Ranger especs are always a bit more exciting than other classes cus we can use new pets with old specs and vice versa. It would be nice with some pet skills that are user ground targeted.. but the exact effects I’m not sure what I think would be nice.
  11. This is a good idea but it would require a lot of work that anet isn’t willing to do. They should’ve done this from the get go. I’ve played many other mmos that have these tradeoffs in their spec/build/traits/talent trees, and it makes perfect sense. Anet is kind of an outlier in this respect and it’s why we have some builds that both have high dmg and high sustain at the same time.
  12. Ik there are decent necros who are able to stay alive for quite a while on tb stats , but the vast majority die rather quickly. Again, what spec are you on? With a good amount of cleanse from traits and utilities + sigils coupled with cc and you should be able to melee a scourge np when their elite is gone. if you’re talking about core nec, well you’re supposed to stick to them as much as you can so.. trying to kite them is a bad idea.
  13. Lol, what class are you playing? As long as scourge doesn’t have their elite really can’t do much if you run a bit of condi cleanse in your build + cleansing sigil. Core necro is better for defending while calling for help in mapchat, and reaper gets screwed as soon as he runs out of stab.. so
  14. Eh. I think there are bigger things to be concerned with regarding this game littered with problems in every game mode. Also, we all know Guardian is anets love child, not mesmer. Mesmer isn’t even that great, relies on busted stat combos to be effective (tb) but those are available on all classes.
  15. Anet needs to remove EWP or increase the cooldown of EWP by like 200%.
  16. Well this particular point I don’t think we can hold against anet. It’s exciting to learn about all the new specs regardless of what your main is. Who and what you are playing is half the fun, the other half is who you’re fighting *against* 🙂
  17. Holy kitten, sorry for being so blind lol. but a proper built nade holo has enough boons and stab to avoid getting caught off guard from CC to consider that an issue imo, other than that I agree with everything.
  18. Nice try. So if he brought it up, then why did you respond?? You respond to our conversation just to derail it and talk about something completely different. 1, you talk about power, WE were talking about condi. 2, you talk about spvp, WE were talking about wvw. GOOD JOB not paying attention and derailing the discussion and moving the goal post.
  19. OP was just listing some regular roaming specs, I don’t think that’s biased. This thread seems very reasonable to me. but yes, you are correct. Skill is big factor, but I still don’t find it enjoyable that I have a very very hard time dealing with mediocre boonbeast players on my regular build that I play 99% of the time simply because boonbeast carries players so far with mediocre skill. How do I know they are mediocre? Cus when I swap templates to mirror their build, suddenly they are very easy to kill or outrotate (since boonbeast v boonbeast suffers from stalling). It’s very often I encounter a boonbeast who gives me trouble, then i swap build and they can’t figure out what to do and play defensively the entire time because their rotation is much worse than mine. TLDR: Skill is very important but build wars 2 is also VERY real and I think high skill floor builds need to be addressed, but other than that play whatever you think is fun
  20. That’s a POWER build…. You were justifying sharpening stones… those two don’t go together. And we were also talking about wvw not spvp, druid is stronger there. Good job moving the goalpost.

A damage focused roamer build that loses 50% of its potential viable damage output… on a LOW dmg spec… with very little burst because condi ranger has no access to confusion and has very mediocre condi damage skills if it you’re not using skirmishing… yea I sorry, I think you’re the one short circuiting here if you think that’s a legit option. Staff is good for kiting and staying alive, but it has absolutely 0, ZERO counter pressure. You have to use utilities to cc and ancient seed ppl to apply counter pressure. Counter pressure is like half of your defense. If you have 0 counter pressure while kiting, ppl will just save their mobility for when you use staff #3, or interrupt you while you use it, and you can do absolutely nothing to stop them cus you have 0 cc other than staff #4. They can basically free cast on you. if I was a thief i could literally just steal on you as you cast staff #3 and now you’re completely screwed cus you have 9s cooldown until you can apply counter pressure. You could stall with CA, but thief can stealth more than you. If you land CA#3 and daze them for root, well too bad thief has infinite immob clears Just by dodging.
  22. Holo has very high skill ceiling also. Shadow arts daredevil with durability runes is actually incredibly easy to play.. you hardly ever die. Not the best dmg but because of steal and interrupts you can prevent sustain builds from healing back up and that’s why they’re able to beat everything 1v1, not to mention stealth. a group of thieves will absolutely DEMOLISH a group of rangers. Ranger can get focused incredibly easily in a small group fight especially by 1-2 thieves, and because ranger has limited mobility other than stealth here and there, after thieves take away your stab, the rest of the classes have an easy time focusing a ranger also. I find it crazy you don’t consider holo or scrapper as a top 5 contender. but yea overall agree on skill floor vs skill ceiling. Some specs have floors that are way too high. Imo boonbeast needs significant nerfs. I don’t use that setup 99% of the time, but on my skirmish dmg build i have a hard time dealing with mediocre players running boonbeast and often have to swap to mirror them to beat them (it gets easy at that point but it still takes forever). i genuinely think high skill floors is one of gw2s main problems when it comes to balance. Much of this boils down to boons. It’s such a crutch.
