  1. The reason a lot of people don’t like no downedstate events is because they are so bad they are actually a bigger threat while down than alive. I notice this multiple times every day i log in. While alive, noobs have to coordinate their skills, be within range of attacks, land meaningfull CC, but most importantly, they have to balance offense with their defense. But when they are down? You only have 2 buttons. You can’t kite. You have no defense. Just AA enemy to half HP in 5s easy, while being immune to like 90% of all CC skills. Again, it CANNOT be overstated how hard the average gw2 player is carried by bad game mechanics. About 1/3 gw2 player i meet is more dangerous in downedstate than when they are alive.

  3. 1, core ranger does not need more weakness spam or daze. They should’ve kept the trait as it was, warhorn change is OK, but my main issue is boon ranger is too strong. NM needs to be gutted. Or WHAO, or the boon merge trait on soulbeast. Boons are a huge problem on ranger if you build for boons. You get too much sustain and the might from warhorn + sotp + heal or merge, not to mention battle sigils means you can too easily run around with a pet that has 25 might, YOU have 25 might, perma protection, weakness spam all over the place. It’s too much. the problem with soulbeast is rarely its damage, it’s the sustain. Boons are the main reason for this. LB GS has some sustain even on squishy builds, but what puts it across the line is the boons. Too much protection on WS + durability runes. Too much of everything on NM. The warhorn change would be fine if it wasn’t for the fact that this makes boon rangers stronger.
  4. If you’re talking about tryharding FB + necro then yea that comp is pretty much unbeatable. Most people don’t run around in a comp group tho. Roamer parties of size 2-5 tend to play self sustaining builds that don’t need a support to stay alive or a dps to deal dmg cus they don’t wanna rely on that. And for those groups ranger is a solid choice. Same with thief, holo, a properly built warrior, guardian etc.
  5. It depends how vertical you are. In desert BL I think you can get up to 2000 range or so because you’ll be shooting diagonally, down on a target from above.
  6. Soulbeast has plenty of damage lol. Highest single target burst dmg in wvw afaik. as for pvp or pve I’m not sure.
  7. That’s more than a comprise. You literally LOSE dmg and utility by stowing it away. That’s a compromise enough already. Some of us, if not most of us, don’t play ranger for the pet. We play it for the hunter/archer class/archetype. We can discuss whether or not ranger thematically should be viable in large scale combat, but if core or druid IS supposed to be viable in large scale, being able to stow pet should be an option.
  8. You are 100% correct. Using bird is a huge sacrifice unless you run a tanky boon setup, in which case you can survive without stealth. ppl also forget that teleports are instant whereas leaps actually take a while to use. So while ranger can hit from 1200-1600~ range on longbow, mobility doesn’t even come close to thief unless you wanna handicap yourself just to be able to somewhat catch up to a thief.

Cus per classic QQ fashion we were expecting a doubling of your comp squad since you guys like calling us out in map chat every time you see us lulz . not my fault you don’t have a life or someone irl to spend time with buddy 😳
  11. Hmm no, after your comp group lost 4v4 some of us went afk cus of rl stuff lol. Then (btw I’m not sure which one you are tbh) later on when you had to 1v2 and 1v3 me to get kills on me (and you lost a 1v2 somehow 😳) it was getting late so i went to bed. I think it’s funny you’re assuming I’d get upset over you guys. 1, is just a game. 2, you (QQ) have inflated ego, you are not as good as you think you are. 3, you routinely lose 1v1s against me and my friends. 2v2/3v3 also, etc. 4, if you were actually good, I wouldn’t mind losing fairly, cus then you would just be better. But I’ll refer you to point #2.
  12. Lmao. I can’t believe you’re posting this… do you not realize how stupid this looks? XD fully comped squad struggles to kill a group of roamers who are just playing their regular unoptimized roamer builds. Just yesterday you guys lost a 4v4 while comped up.. I don’t even know how that is possible. every time you come in with even numbers on roaming builds you lose, then default back to half support half necro or condiherald setup. And even then you’re struggling.. Honestly it’s so cute.
  13. My question is, what will the TOTAL damage reduction be when you use second skin + dolyak stance (another 33%) + resolution? It’s not actually going to be -99% condi dmg is it?? Lol

  15. Core ranger works fine in wvw. I think it’s important to specify what game modes we’re talking about.
  16. I’m sorry what exactly are you running from? Why do you need 2200 combined leap distance in a 1v1 or 2v2??? Lol. Bird is too predictable. I routinely use smoke assault when i know enemy ranger is about to use bird leap and TADAAA he just took minimum 5k dmg and he wasted his leap while doing no dmg to me. Merged bird has merged skill that provides swiftness which is also 100% useless most of the time as you should already have perma swiftness anyway. In 3s of stealth you can move much more freely than a single GS#3 leap will allow you to do, so it’s well worth it.
  17. Bird sucks. Use smokescale, most viable pet for 1v1. Gs is insanely strong melee weapon, probably the single most versatile and strong melee weapon in the game when paired with smokescale merge abilities. You basically wanna utilitize stealth as much as possible against these classes. A properly built ele and renegade should be pretty much even fight tbh. All i can really tell you is to practice duels/1v1s. Save your lb 3 for when they go melee, or you know they are about to port into your face (renegade assassins stance) , blow them up with gs, use your block well coupled with the knock back, and save your GS 3 for leap into smokefield for stealth and reposition, followed by another longbow rotation. Use smoke assault as a defensive tool unless you know you’re outplaying your enemy and they have nothing left, you can also use OWP + smoke assault for insane dmg. Dolyak stance stacks with protection boon so you can get -66% dmg reduction with that skill, meaning you can facetank ppls dmg and still hit them very hard. 99% of the time, only use dolyak in melee vs these specs. If you fight ranger 1v1, you can use dolyak while you both trade rapidfires if you failed your stealth or KB on them.
  18. just like Strider said i think the same, looks like they reduced the capacity of all NA servers , idk if it to hold BG full or to populate the medium/high servers., i will talk as a YB player, we have the same guilds when we were HIGH, no pugmander, no coverage for ocx,sea or eu timezone and we are full. not even at that mass corona lockldown we had that amount of NA server with full, veryhigh status On ebay atm, our current MU is very much dead outside of ebg so there’s no way these servers would be full if they didn’t reduce capacity.
  19. Probably because they don't want to force players into a specific playstyle. One thing that makes WvW great is the freedom and variety it offers to the players and the reward system should not work against that. The current reward system is certainly not optimal, but it is very hard to provide fair and not too easily exploitable rewards. Generally i think WvW is not something that should be played primarily for rewards, as reward farming is usually all about minimising effort and risk, which leads to as little interaction with opposing players as possible and that's the opposite of what WvW is supposd to be. you are 100% correct. if you tie rewards to holding stuff ppl will just play tower ranger and never leave the keep, get rewarded for pew pewing the few roamers down 1v5 and 2v5 etc. and you already get participation for capping stuff so ..

  21. pops heal at 85% hp, diviners with 58% boon duration.... yikes.... lol what does it matter, rangers just have to roll their faces on the keyboard and win with longest range, rapid fire with one wolf pack, maul, boons out the yahoo, immobilize, stealth, and double dashes to outrun just about everything. People run rangers because it's a "safe" class, it only lacks aoes, which their only good one doesn't even need los either.i fully agree that boons on soulbeast should be nerfed. but to imply that soulbeast is faceroll is just hilarious. a lot of specs have builds that are extremely heavy on boons. a soulbeast wasting all their GS skills on nothing is gonna be toast VERY quickly. just last night i was fighting this guy who was spamming all his evades and sword skills on me while i was barely doing anything. literally blew like 2 utilities and his entire weapon kit on me in like 10s, then proceeded to eat a nice big wombo combo of cc and burst as punishment, only for him to salt whisper me accusing me of speed hacks, very cute.

Killshot comes pretty close in one shot potential, glass soulbeast vs glass berseker...the ranger must be extra careful not be one shotted himself, otherwise glass DH and DE can hit pretty hard from distance too, not one shot meme like soulbeast glass but nothing to laugh at either can't soulbeast still stack 25 might in wvw?with templates yea you could easily swap to a warhorn weapon setup, Nature magic trait setup, pop warhorn #5, heal, merge with pet for ez 25 might, then swap back to your regular template. but keep in mind if 1 set has 100% boon duration and your regular set has 0, the boons currently on you will have reduced duration when you swap sets. i mean if i was a tower ranger main i’d probably do that all the time but it requires like 4~s of setup where you have to be ooc so. you could ofc also just stay on NM and warhorn and have perma boons but eh.

Overrated in the broader spectrum of combat attributes.All classes have lots of mobility options, they just aren't taken as there's better options. Here's a problem we've had discussing rangers before.Soulbeast has a burst not "high ranged damage". There's clear indicators when the damage buffs or un1blockables are in play.Outside of that short window with a long cooldown, longbow's numbers are fairly meager. uhhhh with the right traitlines soulbeast actually has the highest single target burst dps in the game by a mile lol. but you do sacrifice utility and sustain for that damage. if you don’t pick said traitlines, the dmg won’t be nearly as high. What part of my statement are you disputing? i wouldn’t say longbow numbers are meager when soulbeast traits for damage. it’s possible to 100-0 squishy medium armor classes with a single RF without sicem or owp. i don’t know any other ranged weapon that can do the same .. Well, I can think of at least 4.And ill need to see a video of you globalling somebody unbuffed on your wilderness survival build before i believe it. ;Pthat’s not with wilderness survival lol. i specifically said when soulbeast is traited for damage, not sustain. i don’t think DE can match the damage output but they have their own advantages which i think are pretty obvious.
