  1. Shadow arts on DD or DE needs to be nerfed somehow. Stealth as a mechanic is OK on other classes or thief without SA.
  2. @Obtena.7952 Also imagine this: Instead of stealth, guardians have multiple ways of becoming invulnerable, however, while they are invulnerable, their attacks have 0 animations and you cannot tell what they are doing. if the guardian hits his target, he loses the invulnerability state just like stealth. if he misses or gets blocked, he stays invulnerable, indefinitely. Is this fair? replace invulnerable with INVISIBLE, add the fact you can still be hit by aoe’s, and this is practically a completely fair comparison. If you can’t see that this is a VERY bad idea (that you stay invulnerable until you successfully hit a target), then I don’t know what to tell you. Have you ever played any other class??
  3. So you’re just gonna ignore the argument I reiterated for you? Ok. Sure We can go that route instead, but then I think we’d need to limit stealth application to 5s , afterwards a 5s reveal timer. You can argue that the problem isn’t stealth itself but rather SA thief which can continuously stack long durations of it long enough to ignore missed attempts and attacks and simply do them again. I don’t have a problem with stealth itself other than the fact you’re not revealed after a blocked or evaded attack. It’s a nice mechanic. but it already has lots of balance problems because stealth can be difficult to quantify unlike boons and dmg output etc.
  4. I don’t believe anet has truly considered a design philosophy in wvw and then stuck to their vision. A proper wvw / open world v world setup would have a meaningful place for more playstyles and builds. Scouts, dolyak killers/escorts, camp takers and defenders, and then medium sized fights for towers, bigger fights for keeps. instead, WPs and mounts make literally everything accessible to huge blobs of heavy armor classes with low mobility and necros who also have low mobility. Scouts are mostly useless unless all towers and camps are t0-1 as the tower will scout for you as well as sentrys. Camps auto upgrade with dolyaks. Towers too. Trying to take t2 camp? Blob incoming cus some dipshit in /m saw a red dot moving towards camp while he sat in a tower and 5-20 are on their way with WP and mounts while you’re trying to kill upgraded camp npcs + hyleks etc. the hyper mobility of the blob has been the death of this gamemode’s true potential. I still remember how they deleted and changed terrain around multiple towers in ebg cus some smart players were hiding inside towers after they got capped and would recap after RI timer was up. Literally everything is just made to accommodate the mindless blob so they have it as easy as possible. consider a capture the flag style change to wvw with 1 simple concept: No more mounts, gliding only in RBL, no more keep WP INCLUDING emergency WP. and EBG size increased by 20%. No more auto scouts from towers. No more sentrys. Only wvw traps can ping red dots on map. Now when you go all in to atk enemy tower with your entire zerg, you are vulnerable to counter attack if you don’t leave ppl to defend. This also makes it more fair to fight with uneven numbers, as the biggest blob on map will always have to risk losing something if they ALL go to enemy at the same time. Contrast to current wvw where blob can instantly go to whichever tower or keep is under attack even if they were just trying to atk enemy.
  5. It is largely without a pet. In pvp and wvw you briefly summon pet to pop the smokefield for stealth and let the pet do whatever until you can merge again. That is simplifying it a bit but for most ppl that’s all they need to worry about.
  6. My issue is the lack of complexity ranger has. I understand the need the not powercreep the game entirely with new especs since HoT, but other classes got way more skills that are fun and useful than what ranger has from especs. holo has entire new weapon kit, has access to sooo many skills. Weaver got more skills. Firebrand got even more with tomes. Spellbreaker can use both regular f1 and fc. Deadeye has so many unique cool skills on new weapon.. soulbeast after nerf replaced pet swap with character skills, but still only has the same amount of skills. And MH dagger is terrible in pvp/wvw. No more complexity than core ranger… i don’t want “buffs” for ranger, I just want more complexity so the skill ceiling isn’t so low. And at the same time the skill floor being very high means it’s easy for noobs to pick up and do well on but not much room to grow compared to other more complex classes.
  7. My CC in wvw is at 100.4% with minor wvw bloodlust buff (with fury and spotter), I need the crits to be there always so at most I’ll swap a few infusions. The sigils are non negotiable. Cleansing is a must. Bloodlust sigil is not as important as the quickness. Hydro hits 2-5K depending on armor of target. also lightning sigil can proc with hunters shot which means you lose stealth
  8. What are you talking about? How the kitten do you think your attack missed? Enemy timed your hit perfectly by evading it without being able to see you. If this happens without stealth: enemy is short 1evade but you missed and atk, all else being equal. If this happens WITH stealth: enemy loses evade, you miss atk. Enemy can’t attack you, can’t see you, can’t anticipate next move reliably, but you can do ALL of these things and if you play thief you can just use your attack AGAIN by waiting for ini reset. you lose extremely little by missing an attack while stealthed especially on thief. The “equation” doesn’t add up because you don’t LOSE anything unless you blow a huge CD and somehow still managed to miss despite being stealthed, which again.. should be punished. You had all this time to reposition yourself being invisible but you still failed.
  9. No????? Because if you miss an attack while in stealth, the enemy has no counterplay options as you are still stealthed and can easily avoid taking any damage. Meanwhile a missed attack without stealth actually makes sense with your explanation. no stealth missed atk: your opponent can punish you directly for your mistake. Either by kiting to stay alive longer or damage you directly. stealth missed atk: your opponent can’t do anything, and if the stealth lasts long enough and they used a block or dodge to time your atk, they just wasted a dodge cus they can’t punish you for the miss. All the counter strategies to this work the same or better vs a non stealth miss.

  12. Yes. So why are there no AOE buff “unable to be projectile blocked or reflected” buffs that you can cycle through? That’s what I’m asking for. Even before the recent change to ranger WH, the unblockable effext was 4 hits and only applied to pet meaning yourself or a dead weight npc.

You replied to MY reply, quoting me but then started talking about a different scale entirely than what I was talking about. my point here is that clearly ranger is not the only class suffering from this over abundance of reflects and projectile blocks. You said it yourself. I don’t see why certain classes like revenant, mesmer (despite being overnerfed sadly) get to have long ranged attacks that aren’t projectile based. That’s literally the only reason herald is being played in blobs. Why exactly.. is it OK for herald to essentially ignore all projectile blocks and reflects meanwhile other classes or specs can’t? At the very least, the uptime of projectile blocks and anti projectile blocks (not saying there should be more unblockable, just for projectile blocks and reflects.) should be close to 50/50 in large scale combat. Firebrands , scrappers and tempests basically make it completely impossible to even hit their party with any projectiles whatsoever. Their projectile reflects are SPAMMABLE. Meanwhile unblockable you get 6 hits every 40s or even worse on some classes probably.

  17. Just because it technically exists doesn’t mean it’s even worth using, just like ranger in wvw zergs. Signet off hunt has a 40s cd and it only lasts for 6 hits. The passive effect is also useless. access to blocks and reflects has like a 90% uptime during a zerg fight whereas ranger has 6hits unblockable every 40s, lmao.

  19. But you’re changing a huge part of how wvw functions. DS isn’t as big of a factor, it’s just annoying asf when it gets abused or cheesed.
  20. DS is not comparable to siege at all. DS is a trivial combat mechanic that has bad consequences and got buffed from the feb patch but without it, combat continues as notmal pretty much except it’s no longer press F to win. Siege is a fundamental part of the wvw gamemode.

  22. Yes, and I don’t believe anet currently balances anything based on DS, maybe back in 2012 but certainly not since hot or even earlier. It just doesn’t change anything other than res skills and traits, which need a nerf.
