  1. I'm not trying to argue whether one should pull 100% benchmark dps or not, I was just using practicing rotation at the golem for example. When I first started to learn DH, I have to consult a guide of some sort or just by following the suggested rotation to start with, and then analyse the skill order to try & understand why are they in such order or combo, what are the situational skills & such, if it still doesn't make sense, my favourite go-to guide is to consult a friend who play that class ?. I'm not smart, without a proper guide to start with I cannot simply form my own rotation out of no where, therefore at the end of the day, though eventually I'd have gotten the concept figured (or it suddenly clicked & became easy), still doesn't deny the fact that I've done more research & study as well as time spent before I reach that "oh it's-so-easy-point", so much more than the other games where I could just "plug & play, figure it out along the way". "The learning curve" is different in this game is far bigger than the other games I've played is what I was trying to say, therefore it's normal that there are casuals who were in the same situation as my past-self, who always had the concept of one-starting-build-for-all; whether that the meta builds will become easy afterward is irrelevant. I can't quote a specific part easily on the phone but like you said, there are A LOT of things involved in skills/traits/weapon choice/game mode playstyle, therefore it contributes to the learning curve. I may not have been playing many other online games but let's say the rotation for wizard in Diablo 3 was just to spam 123123123. Yes, jumping from a game as brain dead as that, gw2 is indeed a huge canyon gap for a former filthy-casual like me, instanced content & a proper build for those were very foreign & I only started to use them hesitantly after a friend insisted me to give them a try. Have I not have other people to show me the way, I wouldn't even know what is a proper build because the game didn't teach me anything, didn't even know nor care about boons until I learnt druid, & I'm not saying I should use that as an excuse not to learn, I was just speaking from my freshman experience. When I said about fully master & used renegade as an example, wasn't actually referring to dps (apologise if my wording were all over the place), it's about how well a player know which skill does what & when to use in which situation. "Doing their job" is what you want when you have them in your team that you can trust them for bringing stab or boonstrip when they need to. Like when I just started with renegade, I didn't even know that Mallyx can pull mobs (one of the example, could be more like sword shadowstep etc...), until late after I've gotten very confident in the basic things (like CC/boonstrip/F2/F4), weeks?/months? after I CM with the same toon everyday, I can finally figure out that renegade can do much more. That, to me, is to master a class, it took me months of dedication & effort to do so. I'm a very slow learner I know, & I thank my static to tolerate me for months before most people who knows me now wants me to be their renegade. All that, is the fact that it takes a lot more learning & practicing in this game than the other games. For that same amount of time spent, I'd already been playing the 5th class in a different game now & be good at them too.
  2. I think this is not really the issue. If a person better at dps ele then that is fine. The root issue is the advertisement and the proposed service do not match. We request alac and a dps shows up with no communication or explanation to how they would service our needs.Agree, I think the easier way to explain this is - when you go to the pharmacy asking for panadols for headache, but instead, they give you antihistamine for allergies :#
  3. What I was trying to say in my post before wasn't about "how easy it'd get AFTER you spent a whole night (might be few) on studying/analysing/ask a pro/practicing". Of course anyone could learn a build to an acceptable level after that amount of time/effort/work being poured into it. Before you grab the concept of a build to the point you can use your own rotation depending on the situation, you still need to practice the suggested rotation on the golem before & read up what each skill does & how do each combo work yes? No? I was just saying that in the other games I played, I can far more quickly to master a class as well as mastering many other classes in such a shorter time without having to go all out on research/study/practice BEFORE starting to use it; but I can not do that in this game due to its complicated build system. It's not just about play by just knowing the basics, but also trying to improve & to be able to provide more that just a mediocre dps figure, which is important in raids. I'm very happy that it isn't hard for you to be able grab on the concept quickly and use it fluently in different situations, because I certainly need a far longer time to achieve that. Also fully master a class and just knowing how to use it are 2 different things. It's like the alacrigade who knows how to provide the basic like alacrity but doesn't know that they can also switch out shiro for dwaft for stab on 100cm islands, or may be knowing that when they'll pull out that ventari tablet instead of relying on HB heals. Ever been on bone skinner when the comm ask if alac can pop the tablet & there were no reply? Or may be they said yes but still didn't use it? That's what I meant by fully master. Without that certain level of knowledge one can still play a class but won't be able to provide what's they're supposed to provide and get carried. Despite all that pro-level gaming, some people who were new to the instanced content wouldn't even know how much preparation is required, how much "study" they need before they jump into one, how to gear, let along where to look for the right build. Because I was once thought that I can use the same build I learnt from when I 1st started the game till max level and bring it into any other modes like dungeon/raid like the other games. Which I think this game needs to do a better job in teaching in order to shorten the gap between an open-worlder & a player at pro level. Now back to the main topic (sorry to steer away for that long), the barrier to enter the raid for me is the complicated build system and how much of a different game it is between each game mode (for eg: open world <---> raid).
  4. This is actually a big issue here. GW2s mechanics ans combat system, as unique and great it may be with lack of traditional trinity and build freedom and everything, leads to an insane performance gap between players. I can't recall a single MMORPG I have played where player performance was this spread appart. I agree and I can certainly relate to this. Every other games I've played, has been really clear on how to master the character's skill and the tutorial/guides (whether in-game or fan-made) are very easy to follow, they don't required whole night of practicing dps rotation at the golem/watch snowcrow video at 0.25 speed with few pauses & rewind to watch again/read that whole page of alien language (I mean 40 lines of rotation and what each skill/trait does as well as what to do in each boss for your role), and I'm usually a big fan of playing all the classes, in which I am usually be able to master quite a few classes and be able to teach/carry people who are new to the game; but I cannot do that in this game because I myself has been having a hard time to even fully master more than a class, mediocre in 2 other classes at best. My biggest shortcoming is that I have a memory of a gold fish and I cannot build craft (higher ping might also be an issue, or perhaps... I'm just too old to perform fast rotation). Mechanics aren't the problem for me (apart from the latest 1 that blinds you to eternity with too much visual clutter), because I'm capable of learning them and be good at them eventually, but the complicated class system and the long chain of rotation is where it stops me from being able to offer multi-classes to the team, and I've been playing this game for a few years. Is having such a flexibility in build diversity a good thing? For me it's 2-sided. Yes you can create many builds, but to do instance content there's still a recipe to follow in order to succeed, for eg: skill rotation has to be done in a certain order and speed in order to achive the acceptable dps. Now I'm not complaining about the complicated build system in this game, I'm just trying to state that it's true that the amount of self-learning/knowledge/preparation/skill required in this game is far... far more exceed than the other games that I've played, therefore it's normal that a lot of new players thought they could just jump into any instance content with their open world build without knowing that they needed a different build for that if no one told them. I myself had been in that shoes where a guidie asked me to join a T1 fractal without telling me anything about builds and gears (he knew I was a new player), then after we failed a few times on a boss pull, he then asked me to ping my gears that I have acquired free from the level 80 boost, then shamed and flamed me for having those in front of everyone (fun fact: he didn't even have issue with my LB core ranger), and yes, I left the that very 1st guild I joined because of that incident. This was when I first started the game. Had the game came with a useful tutorial about build-craft/skill rotation/gear stat and runes required for each build, I didn't have to go through any of those humiliation: I only learnt where to look for those fan-made learning resources after a kind-hearted few told me about it. I might have been rambling on an off-topic too much, but all I gonna say is, there's a reason why the skill gap between a pro-player and a casual is sky-rocket high in which the game needs to do a better job at teaching their own players, whether to point them to the fan-made tools with a written mail/quest npc, host a live stream-tutorial from the developer from time to time and make sure to alert the players about it, or create a better in-game tutorial about it instead of a do-this-do-that beginner's quest that teaches nothing but still call it a tutorial.
  5. Let's add a spoon to each Strike mission that can count as the kill proof. They could add a collection for them. Let's just call it "Striking Spoons". Rip, bank space war II
  6. IMO, if a player (not commander/lieutenant) who is currently in a squad and are looking at a different squad in the LFG, the option displayed should be "switch" (jumping into another squad), not "merge".
  7. It felt like they drop essences just for the sake of dropping essences, doesn't actually have a point to it. Also the RGB skin colour Charrs make them appears "cheap", if that's the right way to put it. I also agree with OP that after playing on that map for 2 days, the essences system is pretty much non-existence to me more so than ever. There really should not be a timer at all once you gathered until you leave the map, full stack or not. Not to mention firing it at any mob is like almost never succeeded like how Tyncale described.... I was in the hope of new patch would bring essence autoloot but I was wrong. Otherwise it's very distracting to the actual fight for something that don't even function or I die/contribute less, so I might aswell just ignore it. P/s: I like the new map & its events, just not the essesces system.
  8. Yes, mid-air swap would be useful! I've been trying to legend swap mid-air in WoJ too but soon realised I can't do it while gliding... many times :skull: While we're at it, I miss the legend swap stun break for PvE, it was incredibly useful for 99cm MAMA ToT Also.... reverse that wind up time for staff CC in PvE please... using the consummable feels more reliable than staff CC now, oof...
  9. I'd love this idea but to be implemented in the legendary set instead, but the style won't suit the leg wings XD Anyway I'm just dreaming, don't mind me.
  10. This should work 100% of the time. Finished the 16 runs and figured it halfway through, never had a problem with it afterwards. It doesn't work if you have high ping. The trampolines are super buggy.RIP trampoline, my ping is consistently at 260...
  11. I tried w2z2 for the 1st time & reached the trampoline part. OMG, that thing is a massive drag there!!!!!!! I've done some research, even came here to see the jumping tip, nope... it's very very very hard to get it right. It took me an entire hour (probably more) just to get stuck on that part, like... to the point I just wanted to alt-F4 the game and go scream to my pillow, but since I've gotten so far, I just kept dying & trying & dying, I can tell you up to that point I was emotionally drained BECAUSE THE TRAMPOLINE JUMP IS SUPER UNRELIABLE!!!! Too many traps on every other poles and there wasn't any alternative route either, you kidding me?? You know how long it took me to finally gotten the RNG shined on me & finished 1 run??? More than 5 hours!!!!! That wasn't even the all baubles achivement run, that's just 1 usual-tribulation run!!!!! The next day I thought may be I could skip the waste-of-time-don't-even-know-why-they-even-place-an-angry-cloud-there-temple, and the 2nd-another-super-waste-of-time-pointless-copy-pasted-but-more-octopus via the assasin cloud, nope, there are spikes there and there's no way to pass thru it, I had to just close the game entirely at that point at 2 hrs into that run, couldn't even be bothered to finish the rest of it because even if I get passed those those 2 the trampolines are going to cost me another hr at least..... I know I could eventually finish it, but it's not worth 5 hours of my time for each run!!!! Granted I'd get more efficient each run but at this rate it'd still be too long before I can finally run it efficiently, but knowing myself it'll still take 100x longer than a normal runner at my max efficient timer. It's like there's a huge difference between W2Z1 and W2W2, it doesn't pace well at all. At least, we should be able to skip those 2 with a tiny bit of trick, but not forced us to do like a 5 hours per run times 16 times for 1/3 part of the whole collection (I can't even imagine what it's like in W2Z3 trib, I hate slippery gaming because spending too much time on it makes me dizzy & wanna puke, it's going to take me longer than 5 hrs....). This isn't just grindy, this is just simple trying to torture the players who try to play your content. Isn't this a festival? Sorry about the rant, I'm really frustrating right now and instead of waking up my neighbour's dog, I thought I could scream here instead, at least you guys can understand me T_T I'll probably just try to finish at least 1 run of W2Z3 when I have 8 hrs available so I could get the final boombox, and be done with tribulation forever. I'm giving up on this collection.
  12. Alternate safer route for jumping rock, if not, delay the next jump so player can pick up themselves again. Not too big world (similar to world 1). No more w2z2/z3 dfficulty/size/length. Achivement that doesn't take 5 hours straight to complete (like the all baubles achivement), and less backtracking required (if not, then put more infantile clouds for the areas that required backtracking). I can understand that achivement requires effort, but 5 hrs straight is just.... too much, I have gotten from fine at the start to feeling sick in the middle of it but cannot put a pause on the progress (almost wanted to puke 3 hrs in but I had to tough it up or I'll need to start all over again...). Not to mention I was also using a video guide, but failing at the difficult bits multiple times, the insanely longer time required to complete than the video guide because many infantile clouds were removed since the video was made, it was just.... drove me insane. Also.... some fixes would be nice, like make the pirahna stays forever, make trampoline jumping more reliable, make the 3 clouds with flute last longer (because it doesn't always open), and avoid repeating the same stuffs just for the sake of making it longer (I'm looking at you 2x octupi feed). A bit of challenge is reasonable, too much will just outstayed its welcome & burns out fun.
  13. That sounds like you're playing tribulation. Normal is talking to the npc in the middle, when you enter the house. tribulation is a nightmare. Yes, I do play tribulations (with intent). But I can't understand how to handle the jumping rocks. I jump away from a platform, but I still get knockback by the jumping rock and fall to my demise. I watched youtube videos and people seem safe after they jumped out of the platform, but it doesn't work when I do it. whats your ping? those rocks are almost impossible with high ping, as even if you get past them, game still thinks you're there and knocks you. I have high ping and so I don't bother with trib. I have a 30-50ms ping. And mind is average 260+ before covid, now it's even higher like about 330+
  14. That sounds like you're playing tribulation. Normal is talking to the npc in the middle, when you enter the house. tribulation is a nightmare.Yeah.... Each trib run I lost like 50 to 70 lives to each jumping rock every single time. Oof...... I saw people using dodge jump, even a friend tried to teach me that, still didn't make sense and never will. Due to the high ping, most of the time my toon lands on the lava level instead of the rock, like the rock already jumped & in the air before my toon actually reached the rock's location, making it hard for me to do another jump immediately due to being "stucked" inside the invisible rock. I know I wasn't stepping on the lava because it didn't kill me, what kills me was the 2nd jump right after on the same spot, thus I knew i was inside the rock & would hit the rock's "ceiling" if I try to jump again. The second rock that up the tree, was another 50-70 lives trial and error again....I really dislike things that required dodge-jump. In those cases I had to keep trying and dying too many times until I succeed, wasn't fun at all. I really support the idea of splitting world 2: z2 & z3 into 2a/2b/2c/3a/3b/3c for example, so that I can progress slowly without the fear of loosing the entire day of effort due to d/c, or for players who is willing to learn and do tribulation mode but can't invest in few hours at once on w2 (like new joiner who cannot run it efficiently yet). I haven't experience the trampoline and the slippery in w2 trib yet, so can't comment on that, but I can imagine the pain....... Don't think I will try it because I hate slippery surface and that could make me insane for even trying.....
  15. Do you have a group? Can you add me up?Nah I just pug it, I join the commander when I see "all strikes", plus forging steel separately. They're not always up, I just check LFG every now & then till I see one, if there's non at the end of the day, I just make a group & do silverpeak pass & forging steel, since they both don't need to be done in an organised group. But keep in mind that silverpeak pass gives chilli not shards. If not, you can join the bear farm squad (voice & claw) I think? I don't do it everyday tho, it's only when I have some extra time during the day, but the shards do add up quickly overtime.... Also, assuming that you've been farming the whole bjora map for the ice shards already.
  16. Strike however, is just on my sweet spot. Due to my real life I can't commit to few hours of non-stop gaming (sometimes I have to semi-afk or pause every now & then for various real life reasons), everything that is short and not draggy would be right up my alley (like fractal & strike). There's nothing wrong with raids, I'm glad they exists for the real hardcore community, it's just that I don't have the luxury to commit.
  17. I think best is to let it work like the LW's currency -> consume for magic or karma, because in LW, even if you don't use all that berries/pearls/etc... you can still consume it directly for more magic. The fact that it cost karma for the convertion but we can't consume the extra shards/chilli but forcibly spending our karma if we want to get rid of the shards, really baffles me... because karma is used in a lot of npcs in this game, but magic do not, therefore I'd prefer to save my karma instead of wasting them in the hefty convertion. It really doesn't make sense that I can consume the LW's but not Ice brood (it makes inconsistentcy across the game imo). At this rate I'd just end up deleting all the extra shards if it fills up 1 alt's inventory.
  18. 1. Improvement for invisible mode: make it truly invisble & live up to it's name. As of current, other people can tell that I'm still online by mouse-hovering over my name and they would be able to see that I'm actively in-game by reading the location next to my account name, when I'm still invisible. Also while invisible, I should be able to receive pm from my friends IF I pm them first until the chat is inactive for at least 5 mins; if I didn't, no one should be able to pm me to check if I'm online or not. 2. Icebrood Saga currency: they should be able to let consumed. Not sure if I like the idea of exchange it at the npc WITH the karma. I prefer it to just consumed for direct currency, or increase the chillies/ice shards quatity required for the exchange. Currently having to cost the chilli/ice shard PLUS the karma leads players to having more shards than they can convert when they need to save up karma for something else (I know some people may have been sitting on a lot of karma, but not everyone is rich on karma). I personally have thousands for shards sitting in my alt thinking if I should just delete them instead. 3. Crafting: it's very meaningless to set crafting to character bound, account bound would be more convenient. 4. Secret garden reset timer: all secret garden should just reset at the same time (daily reset time). For example if I harvest all the seleted secret gardens at the same time the previous day, if I think I won't be available around the same time and decided to do the harvest early, some gardens are ready to be harvest but some are not. 5. Materials/items that ideally goes into the material storage/wallet: the four flowers (Shing Jea/Ac royal irises/Koda's blossom/Spiderwort blossom - storage), keys of greater nightmare (wallet), piles of silk sand (storage), circus voucher (wallet), aetherkey piece (remove the need to combine but instead just load the key into the wallet), philosophy stone (storage), mystic force stone (storage), intact mosaic (storage), 3x assult knight power cores (storage), exquisite serpentite jewel (storage), ornate rusted key (wallet). 6. Universal tomes for VIP lounges/LW tomes/misc. teleport devices: I'm sure many people would agree to this one. It was fine long time ago but the amount of tomes/boss portal devices/etc.. has been increased by quite a few ever since, it's getting very cluttered and some were abandoned in the bank and long forgetten. The convenient item has became an inconveniet dust collector. 7. Consummables (plank/metal rod/rock/etc...): currently it's very inconvenient to bring up the inventory in the fractal -> minimised it & drag to the top right hand corner -> scroll down past the long list of shared inventory slots -> double click to use. Ideally it should have a separate "skill bar" that you can load charges into, and display on the character's screen if it's on the mode that allows consummables. Better yet the consumables are account wide, such that all the other charcters can share the same consusmable without having to waste the remaining charges should I decide to no longer using that character for fractal. 8. Option to preview outfit with the weapon/backpack: currently in the hero's wardrobe, I can only preview the skins of the gear I'm wearing, I have to use my imagination to transmute the weapon or backpack to match with the outfit which can't be seen unless I waste a transmute charge to finialise it, go to the outfit panel, then waste another transmute charge again if I don't like the look. 9. Home portal scroll need more options: should be able to teleport to any racial town instead of just 1. Edit: added a few items below. 10. Prevent login to a closing map: it's been so often that as soon as I login to a map or VIP lounge, the instance is immediately asking me to switch map, it's really annoying. 11. Inventory encumbured: please do not open more boxes when the inventory is full, because I can't salvage what's in my inventory first before taking what's idling in the warning pop-up box, it's few extra steps that I have to move an item to the bank -> take the extra item -> then move it back into the bank, the other optionn is selling an item straight to TP that is also an extra step. 12. Selling limit to TP needs to be increased: I like to open all my unidentified boxes at once, and I'd salvage all the blues & greens but will sell the rare 1 by 1, but everytime when I do this, a warning message of selling to quickly will pop and I have to pause for a few minutes 1/3 of the selling evey single time.... please increaase the selling limit.
  19. It's only shorter if it's a daily, but will not count for rec. I often hope that either it counts, or have a CM mode in T1/2/3 too just for the sake of skipping dialogues..... Yoko really talks too much and she's wasting my time.
  20. I like bosses & meta train, but I just don't have the time to do them anymore after more strikes were added, because after daily fractals, daily gather, daily strikes, daily "dailies", and sometimes "may be" squeeze in an achivement chase / that or weekly wvw (for 2nd tier chest) if I have extra some time that day, I would have no time left for anything else. Hopefully I can join metas after I'm done with all the strike mission's reward chase (I really need to farm a ton of amalgamated gemstones ~>.<~ cries); otherwise, I do enjoy them because it's very therapeutic after I'm done with the daily hardcore content, that I don't have to worry about not making mistake/dps/build/that-strange-grumpy-pug/stress that I'd face from instanced content.
  21. Game of wikipedia - Every loot I acquired, every quest I do, to learn a new class, even if I just want to buy some ginger, I have to refer to wiki or I'll get lost. Inconsistency - Such as... not all the secret gardens reset at the same time, not all the trophies which can safely throw away has indication on it, not all the material goes in the bank (such as the four flowers for making primers), and many more that is not on top of my head right now. Game of useful junks for hoarders - What is that vial of salt for? Idk, but I'm supposed I should let it sit in my bank until I find out. Also let's not mention that Levvi's device/brandstone multitool/ley-infused lodstone that I will never use again but I just can't delete them. If it ain't clunky, it ain't intended - From class skills, to the system like build template, to the crafting, to the loot system (bag-ception), to the nested questline.... Yay I finally made that weapon! Wait... I have to save it till I have enough mats to make an upgrade version of it? Wait... the collection leads to another different set of collection that is also part of another separate questline? Quite a few inconveniently convenient items - consumable: it's character bound so you need buy them for each character you use them in the fractal, also you need to minimise it & drag it to the RHS of the screen to use | VIP lounges/portal tomes/portal devices/festival invitations/exalted portal stones/spearmarshal's plea/rolan's safe room pass.....: they're quite convenient to have but because they take up 1 shared inv slot of each of them, most were stored in the bank & were forgotten. I wish universal tome exists. Forced content somewhat - you want to make this pve weapon? Good luck with JPs/wvw/pvp also. A lot of exclusively rare items which is supposed to make people grind for it but the 0.000000000001% drop rate is telling me not to bother - because at that rate, even if you grind that for a whole year, still wouldn't drop (tried that for a few months at Rhendak), I've decided that exclusiveness is only meant for people with gold, but not for people who plays the game the normal way. Game of melee aka anti-range. Game of 250 (if you know, you know). Beautiful game though. Easy to meet great people. Enjoyable open world meta.
