  1. Thanks for recommending my GW2 movie! Glad you enjoyed it! ? When I leveled my first character to 80, prior to speaking to the NPC for the in game "intro" to LWS1, I watched that video. It is quite long, over 3 hours, but if the story line, the lore is important to you, then I feel that it's worth it. It made subsequent game play more meaningful to me. Kudos to everyone involved in its production.
  2. This will be my first experience with the Festival of the Four Winds. Given the ongoing additional pressures on the various teams, do you think that there is a chance that Anet will begin GW2's 8th. Anniversary celebrations early, as they've done in the past? I've been holding onto a laundry list of items I'm hoping to see as Anniversary sales & I'm getting itchy fingers! :#
  3. According to the Wiki, you can buy the recipe for it from a Vendor: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Recipe:_Rune_of_SnowfallGood luck!
  4. Thackeray, "Not amaranth, it's definitely cerise."
  5. I like both the screen & the music, especially that music. Wish that music was available as bgm on the character selection screen, or in LA, so beautiful.
  6. Oh god, no wonder you're so passionate. Don't do that. Nobody deserves three months of Queensdale. Queensdale is a map you can complete in under a single hour and that's by just trotting around doing basic renown hearts and exploring. Everything you do contributes toward your leveling, even walking around and finding new nooks, mining ore, chopping down trees, and punching the odd Moa bird in the beak. This kind of 'rewarded no matter how you choose to play' approach is absolutely what early GW2 is about. ..but even then, that's just one map. There are SO many more open to you, and the UI even points them out with messages like 'new adventures await you in x map!' As a new player, I delighted in exploration. For the sake of your brainmeats, branch out to different maps! Explore, talk to NPCs with dialogue options, turn on your ambient noise and listen to the chatter in towns, challenge your friends to see who can climb to the top of a building the fastest, goof off! You'll level without noticing and have a far greater appreciation for the game than if you narrowly focus on leveling. Even if all level gating was removed, it would still be my advice to meander around the game and let yourself appreciate the world. Doing this makes the story more meaningful and it'll help you invest emotions into the characters you meet along the way. If experiencing story is your primary goal in GW2, this kind of world-investment becomes even more important. This pretty much sums up how I love to play any game, but this game in particular because, depending on how much attention I give while doing this, there are subtle changes in my home instance, or in my "interactions" with NPCs. Also, it never fails to surprise me how much new content I discover, while playing through an area at a different time of the day, or in a different rotation, or by jumping into an event that I hadn't participated in previously. Judging by those experiences, I know that there is much that I haven't discovered & maybe never will. :anguished:
  7. But I think more than likely, the issue is that people that are NOW joining the game have already experienced this grind before on another MMORPG - and do not want to experience it again. If Guild Wars 2 wants to increase their player base, they do not want to be gating the best part of their content behind Milking Cows (Which literally just has the character doing a dance Emote - Really?) With respect, you keep referencing the fact that both yourself & the new players you're interested in bringing to the game, are experienced MMORPG players. I don't doubt this at all, but because of that fact, it leaves me wondering why then, would they not expect "grind" in any other mmorpg, including GW2? That doesn't make sense, especially as this "grind" is negligible in comparison to many other games. You've also referenced this multiple times now, this business with the cows. You and your friends are experienced mmorpg players & you're referring to something that literally takes less than 5 minutes to complete & if you want, you don't have to "entertain" the cows at all, if that's particularly offensive to you & your friends. :pensive: I'm just a little old lady who has played a ton of games & honestly, not at all particularly well by anyone's standards. I'm in awe of players who take into account all of the statistical information, all of the minute details involved in honing their characters to be the best. I've lost track of how many characters I've leveled to 50s, 60s, & a couple to 80, by playing through all of the content & then deleted them for various reasons. I don't regret doing this, because I don't consider it to be a challenge to level a character in GW2. So if a sub-par player such as myself can do this, then I really don't understand why players such as yourself, would be concerned with this at all, especially as you've said you're players who have bought the game. If your friends try GW2 using a free account, without access to Lion's Arch until level 35, then that's a bit painful, but it hasn't stopped me from deleting characters on my f2p accounts as well. Your friends will have to "grind" a little harder though, but everything else remains the same, the play through is just as immersive, or not if that's what they prefer. You seem like passionate players, so I hope you all stick around, explore & enjoy the game, the good & the bad. Good luck!
  8. Other than the camaraderie of in person contact, what do you miss most of all from the office work experience? Also, all things considered, I think you are doing some fantastic work; much appreciated.
  9. Last comment I promise. Or at least I'll try heheh. I was thinking that maybe, I might keep one extra copy of the game to give as a gift, so I searched the forum to see if I could do that. And who came to the rescue? Once again, Inculpatus! And I note that many posts are answered by this person, so thanks again & Kudos to you, Inculpatus! https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/1124325#Comment_1124325
  10. Thank you for the advice Inculpatus, really appreciated. :) Since my last update, I have received 2 more emails:14:06 (1 hour ago)Thank you for ordering from the Guild Wars 2.Your order has been submitted and is currently being processed. You will receive another email with the details of your order within 48 hours.ORDER DETAILSOrder Number: 1793 etc.Order Date: 05.08.2020 10:01 (5 hours ago)Thank you for ordering from the Guild Wars 2.Your order has been submitted and is currently being processed. You will receive another email with the details of your order within 48 hours.ORDER DETAILSOrder Number: 1809 etc. Order Date: 05.08.2020Interestingly, this 3rd email ORDER # matches the one in my saved screen shot, i.e., the last time that I tried. So there doesn't seem to be any sequential recording of the purchase attempts. They're in random order, or at least the emails acknowledging them are in random order. Either way kind of strange. :/ So now, I'm the unintended owner of 4 copies of the game, all on my nice new second account. I'll just sit on them for now until I receive a reply to the ticket I submitted.
  11. Serious Update Now: I've received a second email confirming a purchase of the game & again, not the same # as in my screen shot. 09:10 (18 minutes ago)Thank you for ordering from the Guild Wars 2.Your order has been submitted and is currently being processed. You will receive another email with the details of your order within 48 hours.ORDER DETAILSOrder Number: 1808 etc.Order Date: 05.08.2020 06:54 (2 hours ago)Thank you for ordering from the Guild Wars 2.Your order has been submitted and is currently being processed. You will receive another email with the details of your order within 48 hours.ORDER DETAILSOrder Number: 1808 etc.Order Date: 05.08.2020 So even though the attempts to purchase the game always ended with the a/m error message screen, with absolutely no way to progress, apparently the purchase was actually going through. At no time during each attempt, did I ever reach a confirmation screen. Also, in between each attempt, the first thing that I did have the presence of mind to do, was to check my "cart". It was empty each time so... I know it's not the end of the world, but I'm really not looking forward to having to go through the process of reversing these transactions here & on my credit card.
  12. This morning, I created a second account & then tried to buy Path of Fire Deluxe to take advantage of the great 50% off sale. =) I tried twice, but both times ended up with the a/m error. That code advises you to delete cookies relative to Guild Wars buy, which I did before trying to buy it a third time, with the same result. :/ I submitted a ticket & while doing that, it occurred to me that I should have tried refreshing my browser before that third attempt. So in the ticket, I mentioned my intention to do that as well. I immediately received the "Request received" email re: the ticket, advising that it was being reviewed. :) I then shut down my computer, rebooted & tried one last time to buy the game, this time taking a screen shot of the Order Summary page for reference. Surprisingly, it ended with the same error result. :o I went to my email with the intention of maybe replying to GW's "Request received", with that additional information & what did I see? A thank you email for my order of the game! Great I thought! B) And then... I compared the Order # in the email to the one in my screen shot & they're different! :'( So now, I'm wondering if I will end up with multiple orders of the game? :# So just a little warning so others don't follow me on my roller coaster ride. Check your email before you try & try again! ;) PS - To the good people at Guild Wars, I only meant to buy the game once on my second account. Really sorry for any inconvenience caused. :/
  13. I think that a search bar built into the Looking for Guild section, so you could search for a specific Guild by name, would be a welcome, helpful addition.
  14. Thank you for putting the Home Instance Harvesting Nodes on sale today. But what a difference a week makes... the fall of the CAD vs the USD, together with the shaky financial situation for everyone right now, makes what would have been a fun purchase then, seem like an irresponsible one now. I know at some point in the future, you'll put them on sale again, hopefully when Covid-19 is long behind us all & I'll be sure to take advantage then. :) Just to clarify, for myself personally, financially, it wouldn't be the smartest decision to part with the money now. For others who are able to, I know that they'll really enjoy the great deals Anet is providing for them with these sales. Kudos to Anet. o/

  16. From "Free Hugs" to "social distancing", we're living in a very different world, but this is still one of my all time favourite videos & I'm looking forward to a time when social distancing will be a long forgotten thing of the past, kind of like ironing boards...
  17. A bit off topic, but for anyone interested in some background information for LW Season 1, awhile ago I found a reference to a YouTube video regarding that here in the forum: I recently leveled a character to 80 & prior to speaking to the NPC for the in game "intro", I watched that video. I'm warning you now that it's long, over 3 hours, but if the story line, the lore is important to you, then I feel that it's worth it. It definitely made subsequent game play more meaningful.
  18. When I first saw the Home Instance, Danikat's idea was what I envisioned Anet had in mind. I really like how your personal instance is fleshed out with NPCs, with new ones appearing as you play. I'd like to be able to choose a unit, say from 5 different ones already present in the instance, for my own, maybe with a free portal there. I wish Anet would reduce the cost of some of the existing additions you can make use of there right now. Also, as soon as you enter the home instance, there is a natural reduction in ping & uptick in fps, so if it had crafting stations, then that would be a nice touch for those who spend a lot of time crafting. On the whole, I think that OSRS had, probably still has, some of the best player housing ever. So if Anet adapted some of their ideas, then I think they couldn't go wrong. :)
  19. I voted for the PvP option: "New Player versus Player instanced mode (Guild vs Guild, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Battle Royale, etc)" I know that PvP already exits in game with an auto boost to level 80, but I'd like to see it introduced as a natural, but required, part of a player's progression. I think if group PvP was added as say, a Heart or something similar, at regular levels starting at level 10 & again every 10 levels or so, then more players would just naturally get involved in some form of PvP. Once a player reaches max level, if they never PvP again that's fine, but at least they will have experienced it & who knows, maybe even enjoyed it enough to try it again from time to time. I'm not at all good at PvP, not in any game that I've ever played but, once thrown / forced in there, I really enjoy it. I love the excitement, the fear, the rush, the laughs. All that said, because I haven't been forced by this game's mechanics & because I'm naturally intimidated by PvP, I haven't tried it at all since starting to play just over a year ago...
  20. I realize that you probably get a lot of requests like this & that it's just my bad timing, but just in case...I just bought another character slot yesterday, my tenth, & now here today you've put them on sale. :anguished:If it's at all possible, a 200 gem credit would be really appreciated. On topic, I'd like to see home instance harvesting nodes on sale.Thank you.
  21. I'm relatively new to this & so I noticed this option while looking for a way to take a screenshot... :anguished: In the Options Menu > Control Options > Squad > there are a number of options with respect to markers, including a circle. It seems to indicate that this function applies to map locations, or specific targets, so I suspect that it might not help in your case, but I felt it might be worth a shot.Good luck!
  22. It happened again just now, after less than a minute of play. :'(
  23.
