  1. It probably isn't anything to do with your GPU unless it is overheating or faulty, since I use the same card. It runs GW2 fine under DX9 or DX11. I presume you are running some sort of Firewall? If so do you know what? Try removing any of the parameters that you have added to your GW2 desktop shortcut icon. Then if you are running a Firewall, go into the settings - most have program controls. Look for a couple of entries that look something like the following two lines - (in short you are trying to find entries for CefHost.exe and CoherentUI Host.exe to allow them to be able to access your Internet connection) This is what the entries look like on my machine using a Norton Firewall (there might be a slightly different folder hierachy on your machine but it should still be in a similar format) Chromium Embedded Framework Host for Guildwars 2 C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\bin64\cef\CefHost.exe Coherent UI - A Modern User Interface Library C:\Program Files (X86)\Guild Wars 2\bin64\CoherentUI Hoste.exe Set their Internet access to Allow. See if that works? The other thing you could try is to install the latest Nvidia Drivers. At the moment they are Version 531.68 released on 18th April 2023.
  2. Has this problem only recently occurred? What type of computer are you using - Laptop/Desktop? What operating System are you using Windows? Linux? Macintosh? If you aren't aware of what hardware is in your system, if you are using a Windows computer, press the Windows Key, then immediately start typing Dxdiag into the search box that pops up. Press return. This will run the Direct X Diagnostics tool. On the first screen you will see what processor is in your machine and its speed. You will also be able to see how much memory your machine is using. On the Tab called "Display" you will see what graphics chip/device you have next to Name- and on the other side will be info regarding the driver version you are using. Also next to feature levels will be a load of numbers like 12_1,12_0,11_1 etc, Lastly is your machine using a Hard drive or a Solid state drive? Let us know what all the above are and it may help pinning down an issue.
  3. Guildjen.com has a nice set of guides. https://guildjen.com/category/gw2/guides/legendary/
  4. Can confirm this works. If you receive the SMS code, type it into the box on the launcher and then left click with the mouse on the Submit button - If you do this it logs in. If you press the Return key after inputting the code it results in the error message.
  5. Similiar issues since the latest patch on 18th April. This is what is happening to me. Double click the GW2 Icon on my desktop - the launcher appears and the email address and password fields are completed with the correct details. I then click th Login button which is active. The SMS Authorisation screen appears and then shortly after I get the SMS code via my phone. I enter this code into the onscreen box and press submit. At this point I get an error screen saying "Guild Wars 2 has encountered an error. Connection failed" The build number displayed on this window is 144604 and it also displays an error code of 3044:1030:9:553 If I keep repeating the above sequence I get a new SMS message and then once I input it I get the error screen as above with the same error code. Oddly if I close the launcher and click on the GW2 icon again and go through the sequence above, once I input the SMS code it then allows log in. Thiis is all on a Windows 10 machine, fully up to date with all patches. It seems odd that the first few attempts fail but then if you close the launcher and restart it the log in works! Edit - both the Chromium embedded framework host for GW2 and Coherent UI - A modern User Interface Library are allowed Internet access via my firewall as is the GW2 game client. Seems very odd that the first three or four attempts at logging in fail and then when you close down the Client and start it again it works fine!
  6. The Skaalds will compose a thousand verses in honour of your heroic deeds, ensuring that your legend will be remembered for aeons.... oh look a squirrel Now where was I? Errrrm oh I forgot. In all seriousness, well done but thats all you get.
  7. Still happening. Can you fix this for all Revenants who use this Elite.
  8. Yeah I would drop the sound to the default level (which is half way along that slider). You say you are running it on a budget laptop so its not got a dedicated soundcard and is reliant on an onboard chipset. You certainly don't need sound quality set so high and it will give your laptop processor a bit of breathing space which it can use for other processes. You have Frame Limiter set to Unlimited. I would set this to either 60 or 30fps. It will conserve your laptop energy and reduce heat build up. This is the link the video that Inculpatus mentioned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmPI5SjP3xA
  9. It is supposed to progress Stalvros but it does bug out on some characters. They had one go at fixing the bug but there was another one that appeared that has proven to be a bit more difficult to iron out. There is an ongoing thread in the Bug section of the Forum and the Developers have answered a couple of times. Apparently they've come up with a fix which all being well will be released on Monday 3rd of April. You can read through the thread below. It does detail some work arounds which work for some people but not others. https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/128338-an-air-of-mystery-progression-bug-merged/
  10. Check that you havent selected a Bomb from your toolbar. If you select bomb (key 3) it equips it and the toolbar flips hiding the icon for the torch/candle which normally resides on key 5. If you have equipped Bomb, pressing key 5 (which should now be stow) should enable you to stow the bomb and flip the toolbar back to its full state, enabling the torch/candle to be used again on key 5. This could be the issue you are encountering?
  11. To the OP, have you tried altering the Character Model Quality setting within the in game graphic settings and seeing if that helps a little? If you set it to lowest, you end up just seeing a generic model for light/medium/heavy classes.
  12. From the Game Update Notes - "Bug Fix: Fixed an issue that could prevent the story from progressing during the Air of Mystery chapter of “What Lies Beneath” if the player exited the map while dialogue was playing" Whatever you did its still somewhat bugged. I ran one of my characters through this again this morning. Scanned the haze spots. Picked up the Jade blocks and dropped them onto the Haze spots. Both of these parts worked fine and the progress bar moved forward. At this point the mission progressed to the contact Gorrik part. Cannot remember if the audio played or not but at this point the mission wouldn't move forward. It continued to show the contact Gorrik part and the green marker indicating where to travel to get into the next part of the story wasn't displaying. At this point I swapped maps. I then got the reward for this section with the crossed swords and the story then displayed the marker to indicate where to go to do the next section. On previous characters it worked fine, so it seems a little more bug fixing is required.
  13. Got a similar issue with this part of the new story not progressing. I've scanned the haze hot spots and filled the progress bar. I've picked up the jade blocks and placed them onto the haze spots marked on the map and filled the progress bar. Problem is, unlike the other 8 characters that Ive already run through the entire story, this character is now stuck. The green mission marker that should appear and allow you to go into the end part of the story (where you meet up with Rama etc and then go on to fight the Oni), isnt appearing. I've logged to character select and then come back - doesnt work. I've logged out completely and then come back - doesnt work. I've swapped to a compeletely different map and then returned to Gyala Delves - doesnt work. I've selected Quit this Chapter, the only option it then gives is Continue this story, selecting this just returns you to the stalled part of the mission. So at the moment this character apperars completely stuck and cannot progress or even quit to restart it all. Edit - Found another thread (https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/128338-an-air-of-mystery-progression-bug/) where people have had the same issue and apparently restarting another part of the EoD story and then going back to the latest one seems to fix it. I'll try that, but tbh this shouldn't be a fix to this issue. Update - Restarting and completing another part of the EoD storyline allowed me to restart the latest story part. Thankfully it began after the Tea room party, where you enter Gyala Devles from New Kaineng. Everthing progressed normally, scanned the haze hot spots then dropped the jade blocks onto the haze spots. At this point the information at the top right of the screen progressed normally. You contact Gorrik, get your reward and the story progresses to the end section. It appears that for some reason after dropping the last jade block on the haze it wasn't triggering the conversation with Gorrik, so in my case that's where the bug was.
  14. It's probably some weird rendering bug. In the past you would get a weird pattern like that rendering on characters when the in game dialogue cinematics were playing during the personal story.
  15. When you say the Mechanist was porting around everywhere too, do you mean they were moving around 1200 units away from the fight every 30 to 40 seconds? If so, then yes Mechanists can do that. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shift_Signet
  16. There isn't any need to buff the Claw of Jormag. Giving it the Svanir Shaman HP sponge treatment isn't fun. What they need to do is as follows 1) Make the frost walls immune to any damage from Turtles. This will make players have to work together and use the mechanics to break them rather than a couple of people smashing them down in a few hits. 2) Make the Claw Immune to damage from players during the phases where the golems are trying to deliver the Bombs. Players should be escorting the Golems to the Claw. Once the wall is down the Dragon becomes attackable.
  17. It wasnt a joke. Chill out mate you will give yourself a heart attack.
  18. Given a free rein with changes, yeah it would be really nice not to have root on anything, but these are Anet developers we are talking about and theyre not noted for helping warriors. Asking for everthing simply doesn't work with them.
  19. Personally I would like to see Warriors being able to move and turn in any direction whilst using Hundred Blades and rooted to the spot when activating Whirlwind attack - in effect swapping the rooted aspect of the two skills. Never really liked the target direction ability of Whirlwind attack. Would be rather nice to wade into a group of enemy using Hundred blades and then when they all gang up on you hitting Whirlwind attack to punish them for not moving away from you.
  20. to the OP, I've answered in your other post on the same subject, but to help you this page on the wiki explains how you unlock masteries. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery In summary you select the mastery you want to work on. You fill the experience bar at the bottom of the screen (this exp is going towards unlocking the selected mastery and has to be obtained in the relevant maps - so if its a PoF mastery, you need to play and gain exp in PoF maps) and when it is full you are able to purchase the mastery with the relevant amount of mastery points.
  21. To the OP have you actually purchased the Soaring rescue Mastery? You need to select it in the Masteries, earn enough experience in a PoF zone and then purchase it with the requisite amount of Mastery points The following page explains it, its not just a case of clicking and highlighting the relevant mastery. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery
  22. Blossoming Mist Shard armor has a load of crystals growing out of it, particularly the heavy set. It can be obtained from the Traceling Elonian Trader at the Pact camp in Dragonfall Get yourself some suitably coloured purple dyes, such as Branded Dye to dye the crystals on it and its probably a nice match for the Branded mount skins.
  23. The events are definately there and happen frequently, even in New Kaineng. The problem is however is that most don't show up on the map. unless you are fairly close so you have to move around the maps to find them. Play the maps enough (Ive run 13 characters through all of the EoD content) and you soon get to know where the events pop up.
  24. Technically the open world maps already have a "reward track", its just that you cannot see it. That is how you get the map bonuses. Each event you participate in gives points towards this hidden track, which resets at 8000 points and starts giving you the rewards from the start again. It therefore pays to take part fully in events to gold participation reward level , since you will finish the track quicker (and obviously get the gold reward rather than the bronze or silver participation reward). You can read how it works below. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Map_bonus_reward
  25. A good balanced move by Anet. Hopefully the Development teams will have more time to work on features rather than the all hands to the deck approach of an impending Expansion release. Hell if they charge £100 a year for all of this I'm happy with that. Its not even one decent cup of coffee here in the UK per week!
