  1. Did someone already make the "small indie team, please understand" joke?
  2. The reason someone like me looks at the whole of the effort is because I could spend that time playing aspects of the game l actually do enjoy. Why would l do something l don't enjoy for weeks to obtain something that offers nothing but convenience? Especially when l could get a skyscale transmog for a fraction of the effort? The "prestige reward" of the skyscale mount doesn't feel worth it to me to go out of my way to follow a checklist of directions. l mean, maaaaybe it'd be better if this stuff had more of a focused UI like story steps instead of just hiding on a specific map and in the cheevos panel? 'Cause that's another facet of my own issues with this: l don't know where to start, and then l don't care to look it up because l don't feel the reward is worth it. Sounds like a me-problem, but that's where I'm coming from as someone who doesn't like the typical MMO grind.
  3. Nope! That's why I don't prefer to play instanced content, WvW, or PvP. Yet, the general gameplay style of GW2 is why l'm playing this and fell off MapleStory.
  4. But if l ask here, then everyone will know l'm interested in those things! ......which no one likely cares... B-But at the time, it felt like a really scary thing to ask!
  5. Humor me for a bit more, what was NCSoft's replacement for City of Heroes? It wasn't Guild Wars, was it?
  6. No, l do not think that. It's not much of a "revisit" if l'm perched on a ledge, waiting for an event to start or scanning the LFG for something l've already done. Heck, it's not much of a "revisit" if that's what's going on at all.
  7. l don't see the sense of relief coming from accomplishment. It's more a sense of, "Thank God l'm done with that grind." I just don't see the fun of it. But, that's the way MMOs are, and ANET decided they want whole unique mounts locked behind the grind. While my friends helped me get a griffon and I got the comparatively cheap siege turtle on my own, neither of those were any fun to accomplish. It's just following someone's directions, waiting for events to start, and buying stuff; boring, frustrating, and arbitrary. And if that's how it is for the easier ones, I guess l'm never getting a skyscale because I realized l don't wanna waste a literal week of my time waiting for metas to start, playing maps l don't enjoy, and buying stuff l'd otherwise have no interest in buying. Screw me for valuing my own time and enjoyment, right? The absolute, very least the game could do is count event completions silently if you do them before getting the collection. It's completely arbitrary to require something you've already done.
  8. I've been wanting a feature like this a lot as of late. The times where l notice someone has a cool item l want for myself, it's in a town where they're idling and l'm about to log out. Am I supposed to send them a whisper, then idle around with them until they come back? There's the risk they get kicked for being AFK too long, after all, thus meaning l alt-tabbed back and forth for an hour for nothing. What's more, a map chat might push my message off screen, so l have to wait for that to end and re-send my whisper and hope the person doesn't have map chat disabled, thus making it look like l spammed whispers at them! The wiki isn't a big help for this, either, because I have little way of knowing whether what l saw was an outfit or if it was light, medium, or heavy gear. And even then, when l try combing through every skin in a category, l still never find what l'm looking for. But with an inspect feature, I can see what the name is, then look it up proactively and directly. Though if some people don't want others inspecting their gear, that should be as easy as toggling it as Friends Only, Guild Only, Party Only, or Private. I'd have to fall back on asking in that case, but options are important to have. But for now, I guess I'll have to wait until l see someone else with blood around their mouth or who's transformed into a giant fire imp with a purple icon border, and hope they aren't idling for the next hour.
  9. This was the first thing I thought of. City of Heroes just suddenly died because NCSoft said so. All the cool characters you have here mean nothing once the plug is pulled. And that stinks something fierce because GW2 is currently the only MMO l can play comfortably. I don't like playing MMOs, l don't like playing PvP pubs, and l don't like playing PvE pubs. I only play online games with my friends these days, but GW2 has just the right combination of stuff that the online gameplay doesn't bother me. But, considering ANET doesn't play their own game enough to know what needs fixing, that plug might be pulled sooner than we think.
  10. I was gonna make a joke to point out how right you are, but aren't PoF's masteries a similar percentage? Regardless, Jade Bot skins are indeed quite ridiculous, made even worse that they're not going to immediately flesh it out with a good chunk of variety.
  11. While the mech is really big, it's also really thin. Clearly, ANET didn't consider the size a problem for that very reason, then proceeded to assume that was all the thought that was needed. Even if l haven't minded it personally, options are always good. Something that I have noticed myself is that the turtle is programmed to fade out if it's in the way, but this never happens to your own turtle. Thus meaning ANET put in that technology, and then...didn't apply it to anything else? That there is easily something they can apply to other players' mechs, not to mention all the other things people would want it applied to as options.
  12. Gonna bump this for a number of reasons, particularly that I highly agree that the glossy effect on characters makes no sense and looks ugly. It's a shame, too, because everything else about high shaders looks amazing. This thread isn't even the first time it's been brought up. We could really do with a way to customize our graphics options further if this plastic glow can't be thrown out entirely. And to clarify, no, the weird gloss on characters is not a post-processing issue. It's specifically tied to shaders set to high. Turning off post-processing and restarting the game still leaves that plastic gloss on characters if you have shaders on high. And no, ReShade cannot change how 3D models look, least of all remove effects from a game.
  13. Aw, man, a dev response showed up right before I was gonna add this to my list of siege turtle bugs. Oh, well, I'm at least glad this particular bug appears to be fixed.
  14. I dunno, man, they barely added any Greet dialogue to the whole of EoD. I have doubts they'll add any after the fact, especially to base game. Unless, it's something they've done in the past?
  15. Looks like a topic got merged? Just as a heads up for any newcomers, you can mitigate the disconnect if you pre-load the model by looking at it in the Hero Panel. But hopefully, we won't need that tip after Tuesday.
  16. I didn't even notice they added midair dismounting. Did I skim over it in the release notes? But, pressing mount keys to dismount is intended behavior. Well, on the ground, anyway. It guarantees you only need one key to quickly change to something else. But if we're talking midair, it would certainly be logical for only flying mounts to cause a dismount.
  17. I think the problem is less about important characters not dying, but moreso that our Mary Sue magics away all the negative consequences. I knew exactly how EoD was gonna end and was disappointedly proved right. The big bad didn't feel threatening at all because l knew it wouldn't damage anything significant. For me, clever dialogue can't absolve a predictable story l can't take seriously.
  18. As a reminder for recent visitors, you can mitigate the disconnect if you pre-load the model by looking at it in the Hero Panel.
  19. I was a naysayer against DX11 at first, but it's been stable for months now, hence why they took it out of beta. It's had its hiccups, but they've been very, very minor things from what l've noticed. And to confirm, yes, this siege turtle bug happens on both DX11 and DX9. It's also not a crash, it is an immediate kick from the server. I think ANET may have done some subtle changes under the hood and messed something up on Tuesday.
  20. I guess people really like how it functions because the animation is ugly. It's a three-round burst skill on a single-shot animation. It's like a 12-year old's very first custom skill or something. Functionally cool, but looks terribly unprofessional! Warrior's rifle literally has a 5-round burst with a matching animation, how could they not port that to Engineer?
  21. The complication with your idea is that levels are used for enemy balancing, too. Underlevelled enemies are placed strategically throughout maps and overlevelled enemies are dynamically spawned for events that have lots of players. Granted, there are plenty of mistakes in which enemies are under- or overlevelled, but that's beside the point. On plenty of level 80 maps you might see enemies spawn in at level 83. If levels are removed entirely, how will these enemies be made stronger? The devs would need to either reinvent the levelling system and not call it levelling or they'd use the levelling system anyway and hide it from view. In both scenarios, players won't know which enemies are overlevelled because level numbers would then be hidden. You're fine, doggo. Admittedly, the problem is not so rampant that it always makes itself apparent. Instead, it's something that crops up the more time you spend in event daily maps. I almost want to try spending a whole evening in a low level daily map just to observe all the ways it occurs and experiment with getting only bronze. That'd be a lot of time to spend for mere knowledge that l might not be able to apply, though. This, this is definitely where a lot of the problem comes from. Even just the raptor offers consistent mobility and multi-targeting burst damage...and since it's the most common mount, loads of people stack that on top of the same mob of enemies. Base game players having a raptor of their own will at least let them reach events sooner, but it can also lead to them adding to the burst damage killstealing problem because they might think they need to do the same... Then they reach level 80, buy PoF, do the masteries, and now they're trained to killsteal on base game maps? Maybe that's absurd, but it's just my worry, anyway, l do think granting the no-mastery raptor to all players could be a good idea just so every class has a consistent way to "sprint" across the map. Maybe. I'm indecisive on it.
  22. Really weird that the issue is a server disconnection and not a crash. It's almost like the game's kicking us for not instantly loading a model or something. I always get disconnected unless l specifically preload my current skin in the hero panel, but I haven't gotten the problem if I left the hero panel open. The disconnect code I most often get is [7:11:3:202:101], but l also got [7:5:1:333:101] once or twice.
  23. Indeed, and if someone does log out for every little thing they have to AFK for, l worry such a mentality could interfere with their everyday life. There's no way being so perfectly "honorbound" can be healthy. One might take their job too seriously or could even not take it seriously enough, depending on their priorities. You're taking apart how l worded myself instead of trying to understand how they meant what l later explained. That's why l'm not trying with you anymore; you'll misunderstand me no matter what I say.
  24. Yeah, sorry if I offended. I was trying maybe too hard to give Sobx the benefit of the doubt. I agree with you in general, though. Putting out minimal effort is currently the only way to combat the killstealing problem of event dailies, for instance. That or learning which events give credit for healing...but if no one's taking damage, you can't get heals, either. Hum... Yep, whatever you say, boss. (When did I ever mention "walking a dog"? Pretty big difference between walking a dog and simply taking one outside. Hm, maybe he doesn't have a backyard for that?)
  25. If the devs want to fix the problem of NPCs talking too much, the correct solution is to add a skip button. Changing preexisting dialogue doesn't address those complaints in the slightest. All it does is sour the experience of people who want to listen, while the people who want to skip still cannot skip. This change is especially strange to me because ANET sure doesn't care about the difference between Female Charr Commander's base game voice versus her expansion story voice. That's a disparity some of us have to hear constantly when playing new content, but they left that alone. (I'm glad they did, though, because her original voice is perfection!)
