  1. I'm gonna focus on new professions and races and a dis-Order-ly path to Commander-hood. Seriously. Trahearnia doesn't have to join some dumb old Order and he gets to be a Marshall and Leader of the Pact! Boo! /e queue 'Leader of the Pact' by the Charrgri-Las
  2. 20? Yikes. No, that doesn't sound like fun to me. I have one alt account, which goes all the way back to the original GW, which 'incentivized' me because I wanted more characters, and at the time that was the only way to get them. I don't use it to farm dailies, but I used to keep it updated/current, until EoD (and the skyscale, and the turtle, to a certain extent) cured me of that. So far, what I'm seeing from SoTO isn't likely to cause a relapse. I don't know about this battle pass stuff. If I've ever played a game that had it, I guess I ignored it. Likely will here, too. If it's all about jumping through hoops (see also: hokey pokey) to get to the, ya know, fun stuff. /e shrug /e summon
  3. Land spears for everybody! See also: folding chairs.
  4. I was happy, once. It gave me indigestion. As far as being happy with GW2, we're (once again) being shown the SOMETHING ELSE upon which all the precious time and resources are being spent: fixing what isn't broken, by breaking it. This, of course, is my opinion. If you don't like it, get your own! /e 25 stacks of
  5. Yes, I think GW2 does feel more toxic lately. Not the community, though. The community is fine. It's the game! IBS, with all those horrid those DRM things, should have come with a coupon for a box of sodium bicarbonate, aspirin, and anhydrous citric acid tablets. I can't believe I played through that whole thing...
  6. I, being somewhat cynical in my old age, and prone to rambling in a manner not always coherent, suspect anet doesn't want the newbie experience to be TOO friendly. It's a fine line, I suppose, between fun and frustration. Carrot and stick. Cows and free milk. Sonny and Cher. To gently (or not) prod the newbies into forking over that sweet newbie cash for the 'shiny woo!' benefits granted by the expansions and their associated by-products, without the newbies deciding it's all just a big litter box and they're just fresh grains awaiting the inevitable kitty. If you've participated in a world boss event in a low level zone when there's not a lot of max level boon-spamming elite-spec types around to scoop the kitten out of the box, maybe you'll agree. But probably not, since this IS the game forums. Heh. As an aside, just think of the time and resources the devs could have saved for SOMETHING ELSE if they'd kept the old champ trains instead of doing the bandits and buffing the low level zone World Bosses. More coffee.
  7. Make a new character, go Vigil, choose to help Quaggan, and play the Bugged Quaggan Evacuation lottery! https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Story-line-Evacuation-bug 11 years and counting!
  8. Why? Because they are working their assets off! . . . (Meanwhile, in Fields of Ruin, renegade charr are shooting mortars and cannons inside a cave. Not to be outdone, Warmaster Forgal, moments after urging caution, observes the front line of the Ebon Vanguard getting clobbered by the previously mentioned subterranean mortar/cannon fire, and orders a charge. The moral of the story: who needs Elder Dragons? Tyrians are perfectly capable of ruining everything for everybody all by themselves! Thank you, drive through.) Let me be the first to post a .
  9. I'm still in wait and see mode, but the thing that most interests me so far is the weapons proliferation. Especially the new core weapons. IMO a step in the right direction that's long overdue.
  10. I, personally, think that any character someone played through the original Personal Story and the HoT, PoF, and EoD stories should receive a 'free' Legendary weapon of whatever type that character used the most. And that weapon should be 'legendary' BECAUSE that particular character used it through all of that. Not because the player jumped through a bunch of arbitrary (and IMO, pointless) hokey pokey hoops, and/or shelled out cash. Even if that was the case, I'd still be without a legendary, because I've not played any one character through the entire story. It's all about the alts, man. The aaaalts.
  11. Enthusiastic players may remain silent, but do silent players remain enthusiastic?
  12. Prequel. Maybe as far back as when humans first arrived in Tyria. Maybe even further, to the previous dragon outbreak. Anet loves their dragons, after all.
  13. Main hand or offhand torch (with a blowtorch skin) seems like it would be very, very engineer-y, but would probably result in forum posts demanding nerfs. In the past!
  14. During the beta thing I had fun with sword/warhorn on a catalyst. Also, I've always wanted mace on a non-mechanist engineer.
  15. Yes, I believe that's it. Cool, thanks!
  16. I remember an event in Plains of Ashford, near the Wrecking Yard, where some charr dude was making chili. Can't remember any details, though, and can't find anything about it via Google. Anybody else out there remember it, and if so, what happened to it? Did it get NPE'd? I found a thread here from 2018 discussing lost Queensdale events. One of them, though, featuring an enraged bull, isn't lost, as I participated in it today. Anyway, anyone else remember the charr dude with the chili?
  17. Faces? Hairstyles? That's time and resources that could be spent on (reverb) SOMETHING ELSE (/reverb). Like, uh... stationary bikes! Which would be even more fun than chairs! Although, ya know, if they made a chair that looked like an outhouse, I might be tempted to dust off the old card. But seriously. I agree. More faces and more hairstyles would be great! Especially for the non-human races.
  18. I got the skyscale on my alt account in 2020, and on my main account in 2021, and it felt very bittersweet both times. Especially the second time. No idea why I didn't get it on my main account first. So, yeah. Bitter. But sweet. "You think wisdom is a flower for you to pluck. It is a mountain, and it must be climbed." ~ Kwai Chang Caine
  19. Some good examples given. I'll throw in a couple that gave me a case of the eye rolls. Disclaimer: YMMV. The starting thing for Norn. Humans fight centaurs and that giant exploding thing. Ka-blammo! Asura fight rampaging golems and the Inquest. Cool. Sylvari fight a dragon and its minions (in their dreams, but still). Charr fight scary ghosts and a big animated stone statue. Heck, yeah. Norn? Who don't use armies and fight alone as true warriors should? "Hey, go join in the slaughter of that big worm somebody else already hunted and captured and conveniently brought to Hangrammr Climb for the Great (ha ha ha) Hunt." Uh. What? And earn the 'Slayer of Issormir' title? Pfft. 'Shooter of Fish in a Barrel' would be the more appropriate. A Norn from Guild Wars would have gone out into the wilderness all alone and (actually) hunted the kitten thing down. "Just try and stop me." ~ Olaf Olafson Also . . . Justice? For Riannoc? Hah! That idiot dragged a poor, terrified little KID into a suicidal situation, where he earned his well-deserved Darwin Award and in the process, scarred that kid for life. But it's the kid who gets the blame for it all, and Riannoc who is in need of Justice, and the future Pact Commander who gets to mete out that justice. Makes sense. Anet sense. (See GW2 Old Forums Archive thread 'name things that you find unfair' for more.) Somebody already mentioned it, but yeah, the thing with Malyck. Come on, man.
  20. Berserker? Untamed? Scrapper? I see 'booster' builds for those using celestial gear over on the hardstuck site. Not sure if they're up to date with the recent patches.
  21. Well. The Dwarves we knew about got stoned. The ones up in the Shiverpeaks. Doesn't mean there couldn't be more Dwarves out there somewhere, living their best lives in some as yet unexplored (by the players) region of our beloved Tyria. Or that Dwarves from (lightning/thunder) SOMEWHERE ELSE couldn't make their way here. Like that other invasive species -- humans -- did, once upon a time. For that matter, there's not one single rock solid reason ELVES couldn't turn up in Tyria. A couple keystrokes, boom. Elves! Been here all along! We just never knew. Maybe some of those folks running around with elf ears aren't wearing prosthetics, after all. 🧝‍♂️ 🧝‍♀️ Heck, I'd play one. Even a race of friendly little ponies could magically appear some day . . .
