  1. You can also go to Arborstone via the Lion's Arch portal hub. I assume you'd need to complete the story past this point and maybe òne of the first steps in the mastery track?
  2. I don't see this is a disadvantage personally as there is enough visual clutter already XD.
  3. I love how you say "boycott" as if you did something monumentally important. You didn't boycott anything. You just decided to not buy it due to personal preference.
  4. - Story was fine - Music was lovely - I enjoyed most elite specs on a "feels" level - Metas and strikes are whatever. - Dragon End meta is at first glance quite athmospheric once the prevent and waiting slog is over. Did it once by pure chance and probably not again, but that's personal preference.
  5. Always funny and facepalming to read how people get all jelly when an NPC is more special snowflake than they are 🤣 See peoples ugly shitposting against Trahearne when he received Caladbolg instead of the player (before the post-HoT event).
  6. I used sucessfully for all my characters first + last name. Worked fortunately fine for my latest boosted character, Farah Jadewind :3 even though it's probably not the most-fitting name for an Asura.
  7. Matriach and Patriach Dragon are one per Night cycle. I don't know how many MPs are there per map. Some are behind adeventures, some behind meta events, or discovering and opening strongboxes etc. Yes, all xp and MPs you earn on Heart of Thorns maps are applied and can be used for their respective mastery tracks. So feel free to level the more useful mastery skills first.
  8. If I wanted to complete the meta: 1. Yes, I would as I'm already "relying" on metabattle. 2. No. This sounds as boring as cramming vocabulary in middle school. 3. It's tedious, but why not. 4. Ugh... I greatly dislike voice chat in gaming, even if it's just listening. If I'm feeling "good"/"highly motivated", I'd say maybe. 5. No. Farming gold is boring. 6. Accepting feedback, I can, but there's non guarentee I'd acually play enough or consistently to improve. 7. No, I'd get probably burnt out or lose interest after a while, especially if it's day after day with multiple attempts within a day. 8. If farming gold or currency wouldn't be so boring, sure. 9. Support geaer is expensive, so 5. and 8. applies. 10. Dunno. Being proactive and communciative isn't listed as an advantage on my CV.
  9. Way to be overly snarky and hostile in all of your replies. Maybe git gudders like you need to behave like that to feel good at the end of the day.
  10. This thread also boils down to the usual two MMO factions (casuals and toxic casual + raiders and elitist git gudders) are like politicians: Walls of text and still manage to to talk past each other. Both factions are at this point unwilling to move away from their position, so we have it like the South Park episode with the memeing cat and the politicans talking simultanously past each other without any progress.
  11. After a long break, the need to relearn how to play medicore again and my ususal half-baked equipped characters, I did the event by pure chance today. I had the time and thought why not. It failed in the end, but whatever. Funnily, I still got the True Ending achievement, so I probably won't visit the event ever again. The pre-event hopping is boring and the ususal clutter fiesta. The Suu-Won fight was half of the time a terrible slow-motion stutter show, followed by more visual clutter, even though I managed to see the more obvious orange aoe markers. So yeah, I probably won't miss it.
  12. As the worst skilled player in the GW2 universe, I'm no talking about numbers and deeps but the "feels". I know that the golem numbers with conj. weapons and hammer 3 are good. The spec felt clumsy to play, partly because of its mish-mashed hybrid dps nature. This may have changed with a focused stat set, instead of the default exotic cele gear, but having all hammer skills do a bit of everything yet nothing too good felt lacklustre. Outside of Earth Jade Sphere, I still felt as "squishy" as with other specs. And despite its aura focus in one trait line (the mid options, I think?), there's hardly any innate combo finisher in hammer, even though its very nature should have at least one blast finisher in it. Or maybe let us detonate the spheres to blast finish in its own combo field?
  13. It would be nice if they expanded the stat selection from achievement armor sets like the old Mistward collection (a HoT one) which still have only limited options. Berserker, Knight and Rabid is veeery lacklustre. Yes, Zerker is still powerDPS meta (ignoring whatever fine-tuning there may be), but core stat exotics have been afordable anyway. They expanded the options retrospectively for Verdant Brink's bladed armor pieces and others with PoF stat combinations, so it shouldn't be a game breaking balance-wise.
  14. YES! My mega pc with i5 4790 and gtx 970 (approx. 5-6 years old) and 16gm ram is still ready and kicking for EoD <3. Take that gpu scam prices.
  15. Hm... from this point of view, raids, fractals and strike missions are also not must to have because it's just some thing for people who want to do challenging (group) content . Story is just for people who want to enjoy the story, meta events are not must to have because it's just some thing for people who want to zerg . PvP is just some thing for people who want to play against other players etc, etc. So... what is "must-have" in an MMOG with many different players with different interests?
  16. The common reference I've seen here about the Warden when it comes to Hammer Ranger make sense. On a similar note, a theme around "Guardian" of Nature/Forest/whatever would fit as well. Not everything needs to revolve around the classic RL idea that the forest ranger/hunter has a rifle (and hunting dog). Gameplay-wise: Yes, hammers are slow (and clunky), but it's not the fault of the e-spec concept. Maybe Anet gives us a rapid-hit hammer like whack-a-mole or super mario with hammer :P.
  17. People troll all the time with "x is dead". *insert MMO name*, pc gaming, console gaming, *insert game mode*. Pick your favorite.
  18. Funny, GW2 just replaces the tedious "grind" for a tedious "farming" by doing the same ("lucrative") stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. So basically nothing changed.
  19. Why is this topic not locked yet. Many of the houlier-than-thou players here are or have turned into scumbags and offered nothing productive or remotely useful.
  20. I don't agree with the large amount of vitrol and hostility being spit around but agree that the finale felt rather lacking gameplay-wise. Surprisingly, the visual cancer wasn't as worse as previous boss fights, but I certainly don't want to touch the public versions with all the illuminated christmas trees running around.
  21. I don't mind paying a sub or gamecard amount in FF14 because, duh, it always had one and the story's great for me. But for GW2, I play it for the story exclusively because it has no sub. So I can catch up, seldomly also spend a few gems, dabble around with my professions and quit till the next story patch or xpac. The no sub was, to be honest, a major reason why I even gave GW2 a chance because it came out at a time when I had burnt out of MMOs. The typical MMO aspects are still terribly uninteresting for me, ironically (or not).
  22. Better than your posts and idea of praying that the problem will solve itself and bashing any outgoing ideas with non-constructive trash, simply due to out of fear for losing their prestige and bragging rights.
  23. What social aspects? In-game chats are dead where I play. I think I've seen a couple of "thx" once at the end of a public DRM and minimal Q&A in Eye of North(?). However, I've never noticed how may players are in "my" public DRM in total. Most of the time the preps were completed and mobs and bosses drowned in the ususal visual vomit.I assume most communications are in Lions Arch or on a guild's favorite voice-chat platform. Not that this is a new phenomen.
  24. How someone perceives HoT depends also likely on what kind of content they had done in core-Tyria. As a story player with a clear solo play mindest, but terrible at action combat, most of my core-HoT experience was more frustrating than fun. The visual clutter has been growing MUCH worse from here on and many enemies were simply a pita. Having maps consisting of nothing but meta and events felt tiresome and if not for the Ranger pet in Dragon Stand, I'd have never touched the meta at all. Verdant Brink and Auric Basin were fine and luckily the easier maps to get Mastery Point (achievements). Never bothered with Tangled Depth more than necessary. Didn't need more Chaks lol. Ironically or not, despite my disdain, I've put most (I think) of my characters through the HoT story. The battle against Fatty Dragon is way less annoying than the part(s) before it. Tbf, I don't consider myself a "core" customer due to my weird playing habits and vastly prefer single-player action combat (like the Ys series) if the game is built around it. .I need to relearn the game each time I log back in during story updates
