  1. Nothing to see, the cake has been baked.
  2. I didn't, and I have succeeded in pretty much all save for 2 groups who failed at 2-3% HP left on Soo-Won. It really isn't that hard. What I will agree with on the community is that it's unrewarding as hell for something you have to spend 2 hours on.
  3. Anet's game economists can help explain this concept better, but the economy of the game works a lot like the real world. In order for items to have value there needs to be a demand for them. If there is a demand, it means that said item in some form is either destroyed or removed from the market economy. If that happens, then the item then has value. The value of gold, therefore, is dictated by the demand of these items. The most demand of these items comes from legendaries. When a legendary is created these items are destroyed, which keeps the demand steady. In China someone is actually MORE reluctant to spend gems for legendaries because the USD has a lot of power in that country. Which in turn, does not affect the overall economy within the game. ie. Someone from Beijing isn't likely to drop 2 iphones worth of Yuans for some legendary in a video game. Seriously, one legendary is enough to send 20 children to school in that country. However, the same can't be said for NA/EU players, who actually buy and spend thousands of dollars in gems a year. One guy was rumored to spend $5000 in gems a week on the game, just to convert to gold. Considering, NA/EU players share the same Trading post, these are the guys who will also go out of their way to pay full price to avoid the labor of making a legendary, usually on the weekends, which is what keeps the economy in a healthy state. Now under the model for China, these people will actually flood the market with Legendaries bought straight from gems. More legendaries means rewards (t6 mats) lose their value. If T6 mats lose their value, then everyone would be selling in low copper to silver. Especially with how many players there are, literally nobody would have gold. Anyone who buys gems to convert to gold for legendaries (And yes I have met these kind of players before in game, one who vehemently defended his standpoint of wasting hundreds of dollars for his legendary armor) is quite literally putting new gold into the economy. And the NA/EU being the main providers of gold into the economy, inflation occurs. It would be like the money printing scenario we have in the US. Having the value of Gold go down, means the value of mats goes up, and then everyone wouldn't be using gold to trade, and instead use mats, if that were the case, Anet loses money because now there's no realistic incentive for the AVERAGE player to buy gems. Then to fix the problem they would have to decrease the rate at which rewards come for the players. If they do that, they kill off their players, no more rewards, means no more players, no more players means no more gw2. Currently, either way we have the same system, the only difference is that the price of gems for legendaries is constantly changing. You can quite literally pay for gems, and use those gems to buy legendaries. We need that constantly changing delta in order to balance the gdp of gold on how many players there are in the game.
  4. Yikes! That could kill the game, the economy of the game relies on the destruction of materials, remove that, and you have a pay to win Guild Wars.
  5. To me the average player is someone who is sitting on 500ish gold in their wallet all made from selling stuff on the TP that theyve farmed or acquired in game, and pays for gems to get skins/utilities.
  6. Take your time with it. The game really isn't going anywhere, considering our next major patch is past June.
  7. To the OP: if you never work on it, it will haunt you for the rest of your life, and you will never be free from it. It's disingenuous and arrogant to want to force devs as well as other players to waste time playing at your level simply because it's too much for you to handle cooperating with other players in an MMORPG. One thing you should note is that in this game if you do not socialize, you do not succeed. It's just that simple, if you cannot get along with anyone, or work with someone for an ultimate goal, you will fail miserably and be stuck! Teamwork is essential to a living, breathing community, and remaining isolated from others simply means it will take you ages to get the things you want, if you want that, then you really can't complain about the self-imposed circumstance you set on yourself. A big problem with the average player is that everyone is out for themselves, but it's the guilds, teams, and servers who trade with and cooperate with one another that end up winning the most. It's a big part of why WvW hasn't died since launch because WvW is the ultimate cooperation of all the efforts you make in PvE. To be honest, EoD maps have enough events that can be done solo without anyone's help to help justify and equal amount of return for the effort put in for both karma and imperial favor. And if you know how to play the game really well, you can get the same kind of return for everything including spirit shards, T6 mats, and so on.
  8. Overall I thought the story was pretty good! Coming back I'm impressed by the overall design of the story of the Commander. I think the plot as a whole was excellent, and the storyline had an excellent conclusion. Having a lot of love for the maps, I loved doing the map completion for them, very fast and smooth, and the hearts did not feel as cumbersome as the ones in northern Tyria. I liked the fact that each character's dialogue had a natural feel to it, especially after Detective Rama called Minister Li an kitten. It's clear ArenaNet listened to the players requests to have characters with more character. But there's a few things I can't seem to wrap my head around, I don't understand why there needs to be so much emphasis on the LGBT light and political dogma inside of the story; it was really cringe to have it crammed into the story at the occasions they came up. Especially the Mr. Mom antics from Taimi about Joon's Husband that one actually made me want to leave the story faster (big oof). I feel there is an aggressive over representation of the LGBT stuff in there, that it appears to push the game as a means to express and push political views. Personally I don't agree with doing this in a game, mostly because it has to do with the fact that the idea behind playing video games is to escape reality, not get more of it. Trust me when I say when you go woke, you can in fact go broke, I would not be surprised if the number of active players plummeted after this stunt. There were moments when I couldn't take my Male Norn seriously, for instance when after landing on Shing Jea Island my Norn somehow equated the boatman's question "are people where you're from as tall as you are" to the boatman asking (as if to offend) if Norns are all the same height...? ????????????????? What? I asked right at that moment if my character was straight up dumb. Then Detective Rama talks about how his first kiss was in this tunnel we had to pass through, and he tells my Norn to not get any ideas, I was like, I wasn't thinking that at all bud, commander please tell him. Please? Also, the hearts are asking my already Male Norn if I want to cosplay a female, or neither Speaker.....? WHY? Joon's character was just dumb, here you have a talented, brilliant jade scientist, working against the commander to oppress the only kind dragon left! WHY? What part of a dragon volunteering itself to be imprisoned for as long as Soo-Won did is acceptable? Like I felt awful at the end Soo-Won saying she spent most of her time alone simply because Joon, well yeah of course when you volunteer to willingly put yourself in jail that's literally the price! It tore me up a little that this dragon literally died at the end, it truly was an awful way to go out...alone like that. So not only is Joon enslaving her husband to be the mom of the household, but she imprisoned this innocent dragon, with no direction to at least help find a way to stop abusing the free will of the dragon, only to prolong the abuse of the dragon, by attempting to continue filtering its magic? That is grade A animal abuse. I'm sorry but that in all levels is F'd up. Why does Canach sound different? Why is he all the sudden a party maniac lazying about on his earnings from gambling on the commander? He's not this witty amiable anti hero personality he used to be, it's just gross what Anet did to him. GROSS. Had it not been for everything else the expansion as well as the game has to offer, I probably would've left. The fights were super fun, the achievements still can be a pain in the neck to complete, the lore and collections are amazing. It's very clear the artists and level designers really know what they're doing. I especially LOVE being a Willbender, that to me has been the main game changer for sure! The mobs are fun to fight, there is danger, but not too much '1 shot and I will kill you' mobs in the pve side. On top of that interacting with the community to make and earn gold has boosted that even further, soon I will be done with my Aurene's Bite. My hope is that in the future, this political rhetoric ceases to continue in game, the conclusion made it feel that this is in fact the end of Guild Wars 2, it's pretty evident as the expansion only showed that they are willing to take aggressive risks. Not to mention, were going to have a MASSIVE content drought. MASSIVE. Our next content is coming after JUNE! HOLY SMOKES. That's major, we're going to have an economic depression in guild wars. Gold is already becoming insanely valuable to have, because the GDP is getting lower and lower. To conclude this, I give End of Dragons a 3.8/5. In comparison I rated HoT-3.5/5, LS3-2/5, Path of Fire a 4/5, LS4-3/5, Icebrood 3.7/5. Let me know your thoughts!
  9. Life isn't fair, and nothing is ever truly "free". Black Lion Exclusives can still be found from the chest, it's worth almost 2k in the TP. So if you want a more guaranteed chance, there you go.
  10. I would not take anything lower than 3.5k in the current market. This weapon for all the work you have to do to get the acc bound mats should be priced with a 1k profit margin. Anything below that you are giving gold away for free to the person buying it. Mats do not dictate the price of the legendary, players, moreso the people who have the most in stock do. If account bound mats go down, that only means the price of mats go up, and vice versa. The price of the legendary for the most part remains static.
  11. I mean in WvW all I see are floating ball, this is more of a player preference, personally I like looking natural, no flash so I only use my cultural armor and norn weapons since Im a norn. Keep my mog flash free but other people you know they like infusions and stuff.
  12. I disagree with you (OP), I feel that legendary armor is there to be legendary for the sole reason that it shows your mastery of the game, in both gold making and skill. Otherwise it may as well just be another ascended or exotic. There's people who may end up using the swipe to get the armor, but even then I'm sure they're not proud of taking that route either.
  13. Yes it is okay, because they have to make their revenue somehow. Unless...you want less content? Integrity is the cost of going the "free" model.
  14. The balancing is different because WvW has different adjustments for skills, also WvW is the more hardcore approach because you have full control over your stats instead of an amulet. I never took the 1vX crowd seriously because the game as a whole is not focused on being a fighting game like Mortal Kombat. If I wanted to show off my gaming prowess of button smashing I would just play that, but MMOs, Guild Wars especially is more resolved to strategy.
  15. I'm not sure I think it's a sound when a guild claims a WvW structure or a team caps one, not sure though.
  16. You want to continuously kill this silly character you've built up....again and again....
  17. This post was made with the thought that people on General Discussion care, when the majority probably don't or will understand. In spite of all this, I would like to point out that the flaw in all this is that often times it's not that everyone needs to be DPS. A lot of the times it's that there's not enough support or boons being thrown out, you see this a lot in T3 fractals and it's why most groups struggle past that point, or moreso you can feel the difficulty intensify due to the lack of boons and healing/condi cleanse. I think it's good that a meta is finally hard to do, I think that for a long time I evaded PvE because it was just too easy, and too easy over time becomes too boring. Sure the reward is there, but because there's no challenge there, it tells me I'm wasting my time swinging at dust. I think that's why the majority of the player base considers the game boring at a point, because the inclusion of 80 people against one boss cleaning it out in 15 sec for little reward is just not good. However there's a lot to rewarding, I wont get into it now, but it's the players job to learn to be efficient with their currencies.
  18. I don't want my Guardian to act like a thief, thanks, but hard pass! ;c
  19. There's a lot of items that I bought from the gem store with real money, only to use them for two days and never again.
  20. Sounds incredibly immature, possible troll. WoW sounds a little more up your alley, nobody dies in that game anymore.
