  1. What I want is for the Norn Forms to unlock Novelty Transformations (essentially combat tonics) so we can use the aesthetic without affecting balance.
  2. If it goes into maintenance mode, there won't be development of elite specs. Pretty much by definition, no development at all happens while in maintenance mode.
  3. The amount of hardware used to run GW2 have never been related to the number or worlds. ANet have had tech to dynamically regulate that since GW1 days. With world linking the number of actual WvW teams is already fewer than the worlds - what the alliance system will (hopefully) accomplish is a better balance of numbers between these teams; and yes, make it easier to regulate the number of teams too. For a type of game as dependent on seeing other players as MMOs, the megaserver system is really leagues better than the partitioned off server structure.
  4. We had summons since core tho. Yes, but why they did it now as opposed to with any of the recent previous updates.Just speculation, of course :)
  5. Since a Raven summon is among the purchaseables from the new map, I suspect they don't want that and TP/Merchant summons to conflict wih each other.
  6. It doesn't matter how PoF is unlocked, having it unlocks HoT as welI.
  7. Can't it be turned into one via right-click? That's how basically all other tonics work...
  8. Clever way of compensating for loss of people playing?????? At the expense of gating those that continue to play? It's not compensating for less people playing, it's compensating for spreading the playerbase thinner. They keep adding maps, while not making earlier maps irrelevant (like games that regularly raises the level cap does). This spreads the playerbase thinner and thinner. Yes, this will in effect reduce the draw of maps on days when they don't have dailies, but will conversely focus players to the map that does have them that day. This way, if I need things on X map, I can reasonably expect other players to be active on that map approx one day per week.
  9. One thing it does his help create a focus on one map per day, to create times when it's easier to get events going and thus progress harder achievements.
  10. That's that_shaman's countdown, right? That one's just based on what time they usually launch patches. Anet does not normally set an actual launch time, just date.
  11. My impression is Fallen, I think one of the devs talked about the Kodan strike mission bosses as "fallen Kodan". Nothing actually confirmed that I know, though!
  12. Apart from the advice already given I'll point you to a thread specifically aimed at levelling: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/72254/a-leveling-guide-early-builds-and-tips It gives a lot of good information, both general and profession specific, about build choices as you level.
  13. This isn't because of some balance reason, but because of technical reasons. The tools are in some underlying way connected to weapons, and allowing switching in combat risks strange interactions with weapon skills, sigils and weapons swapping.
  14. We now have confirmation (from latest Guild Chat) that Icebrood Saga will use its own, new, mastery points! Erghh..So now i can throw the desert points on the jungle points pile, and start a dust farm.YeeeaaaayyyyWe will always get more points than are required. It's really a simple design choice - if the expectation is that most players should get all the options, you'll need extra points so being unable to get a few points don't block.
  15. However, this game has been designed from the very start as having the choice of race be strictly aesthetic, not mechanical. Personally, I very much like that no race is really blocked from anything. I do understand where you're coming from, and I wish the flavor of the races could be brought out a bit more - like the Norn shapeshifting. Ever since they introduced the Novelties wardrobe, I've neen hoping for some variant of adding the Norn forms there, so we could actually have our characters fight shapeshifted while still using our regular skills.
  16. First: Legendary has same stats as Ascended, but you can switch stats whenever you're out of combat. Also, slotting a new sigil will unslot the previous, instead of overwriting it. Cheapest way to get Ascended weapons is probably the Specialization Collections, if you have alts that get the weapon you want. Otherwise, it's likely crafting. As for playstyle/build advice, someone else will have to help there as I have no real clue :D
  17. The Patron achievement is completely different from the Apple achievement. It's also not about making certain progress or not, but making sure an achievement that most will not want to pursue isn't part of the meta for the episode.
  18. We now have confirmation (from latest Guild Chat) that Icebrood Saga will use its own, new, mastery points! Not I just wonder if desert XP counts or if we have to get the XP from that map only. This is pure speculation, but they might switch Grothmar to count as well. And of course the Strike missions are almost certain to count. Also, I think they plan for this to take a little while to fill up.If I understand it correctly, we first complete a two-tier track of Raven mastery, and then unlock three separate two-tier tracks of Essence Manipulation, and they seem to want it to actually be a bit of a choice which you go for first. A casual player like me is probably likely to take several weeks. (Again, pure speculation!)

  20. Set a skill that don't require a target as your auto, like a selfcentred AoE. Then the character will perform it as soon as it's off cooldown.
  21. Whats double or quadruple dash with the skyscale? Dash is the dodge (default V) barrel roll. During this you don't lose height, and if you start below the max altitude you can dash diagonally upwards, "breaking the ceiling". You can do two consecutive from full endurance; if you at that point use Bond of Vigor it instantly refills your endurance (instead of the accelerated gain the other mounts get) so you can do two more. I didn't know this either, thanks so much! I can't wait to try it out! :)Using this, the Skyscale is almost as fast as the Raptor over those short distances. A general advice to people working on getting the Skyscale, or leaning toward not getting it: Don't judge the mount too quickly based on rentals. Partially because the wall cling mastery affects it quite a bit, but mostly because it definitely has a learning curve to use. Not as steep as the Rollerbeetle, but still - it takes some getting used to!
  22. After looking into what promoting is, this is not an cost effective way of obtaining T6. For T6 leather promotion costs about 2g 50s per 10 vs buying the T6 leather at about 1g 25s. So you could sell the T5 leather and buy about 14 T6. I have little experience with the zones these are in at this time. The mats are key gated so how much you can get and how fast is dependent on how many keys you can get and just how many you get from one key and if they are guaranteed per key. But I get the feeling, from researching if this is worth my while to try, that this is not a viable method to farm. And only a nice little bonus while doing the areas relevant to the one you can get T6 from. I'm not sure where you are getting such high costs to promote materials of which you already have a plethora. Unless, I guess, you have no Spirit Shards or Piles of Crystalline Dust. It's a matter of how much will the promoting give vs how much can I buy with the gold gained from selling the same material.
