  1. I have completed a lot of maps lately, at least 15. I had about 3 keys, so pretty much 20% which with such a small pool of info is well within the realms of it being normal.
  2. The second part, a higher chance the more pre events you did, would be really nice. The first idea of 0 chance from doing just the final event would probably end up with most people not bothering, like what if I missed the first event of the chain? No point bothering helping at all then. Either way as you say it will almost certainly not get changed.
  3. That actually makes a lot of sense, I once made it across a couple main roads, two trains with a change in between and a walk to college, then as I walked in the door had a huge hit of "wait how did I get here?". I used to do that every day too, so checks out for sure.
  4. Thanks for updating, that explains things a lot. And a big +1 to using API on efficiency, I have 71 characters and when I left my endless gather tools on one and forgot who it could take me like 20mins just to find them before!
  5. Or is it possible that you took the laurels? Sometimes I am so used to clicking whatever I usually do that I totally forget having done it.
  6. If it such a big deal... don't buy them? If Anet find noone buys them they would change things. As it is we can only expect that most people buying them both know how how they work and are OK with it. If you don't like it, it's a lot like a contract to buy anything else irl. Don't like the terms? Don't buy it.
  7. Game needs more badly rendered parrots. Low poly want a cracker?
  8. Sure, but I am talking about farming them from mapping and later missions, I don't actually have a keyrun slot. Edit, just to add, I think we mostly agree tbh, I would also prefer that there were no "exclusives" that you had to save statuettes for in the hope that they DO add them later. The only defensible part is that when they put mount skins in (for example when they added the hummingbird skimmer) you could buy it direct OR gamble.
  9. The one problem I have with the "just sell it directly" argument is that I farm most of my keys, so being able to occasionally get a nice item "free" is great. That said I do think there should absolutely be the option to do it both ways, like when they add the 1600/2000gem mounts to the BL chest.
  10. Exactly this. I have multiple accounts that I bought on sales, mostly for login rewards. I ended up frequently being too lazy to do so. If Anet were still filling my inboxes with loads and loads of loot not only would people like me be earning silly amounts of materials, but a lot more things would become valueless from all the lazy butts like me logging in just once a month. You would be crashing a lot of the economy for the sake of selling accounts for very minimal amounts of cash (and in some cases they have given away accounts too).
  11. The funny thing about most of us in this thread, is that the majority of us seem to agree about the basics, we are just getting caught up in semantics and distracted by degrees of the problem. Personally I think it is fine if you have to AFK for like 5 of a 30min+ event due to something you weren't expecting happening. What I see as a problem is the people who rock up to the event after every pre is done, hit the boss like 3 times, then AFK nearby for the entire remainder. Edit: the most egregious examples being some I have seen at drakkar or dragonstorm, arrive late, tag a few hits then just stand there. AFK? Not unless the very second the event ends they happened to finish their IRL job and loot the chests and log out again.
  12. You have to pay for the game to get login rewards too, f2p accounts don't get them.
  13. First off, wow this is a nice necro. Second, speaking as someone who finished the weapons ages ago, I still wish it was easier to farm it. When I was doing it (and probably still) the best way was meteorite farming, but not only was that tedious and extremely unfun, it usually ended in a bunfight of people yelling at each other for using the wrong skills and not knowing what to do (whilst also helpfully never explaining it either). I only got mine finished by mapping it an absolute crudton. Same sort of thing goes for a lot of other maps, I was glad of being able to camp the Draconis JP as a full map clear rewards an entire 5 orchids.
  14. It would be a fair compromise, but tbh all this thread is a little pointless. As nice as it might be Anet are not going to put in a bunch of effort and work to -give- us more loot.
  15. The vast majority of people who have a huge surplus of spirit shards seem to just forge upgrade mats to make money from them. I myself cba as I know how hard it would be to farm them again if I did ever want them for legendaries or such (despite sitting on like 12k of em). I have to agree though, a vendor who offers cosmetics and things would be a good way to make them feel worth spending again.
  16. I think part of my problem with the Dragons End meta is that I am far more interested in completing maps than doing the meta. At the same time, I don't want to be leeching off other people's spaces in a good map, but I have no easy way to shift to a different one. The meta area of the map may be small, but there are one heck of a lot of PoIs etc, and all of that is before you consider achievements too. I think either they need to give a lot more downtime after the event with everything unlocked, or make the fight itself an instance.
  17. I tried training MOX to beat down the burglars but he's only interested in being a glorified jukebox.
  18. It would also suck if it's one of the longer puzzles and you get a dc halfway.
  19. I think they were referring more to the people who afk right next to near enough an entire Drakkar/Dragonstorm. They then get the exact same loot if it succeeds, and lose nothing if it fails due to the upscaling of them just standing there.
  20. My anxiety makes doing half the wvw dailies very hard for me, but badge eating and veteran slayer (and most of the time taking the ruins) have been basically free dailies for years. I don't even remember the last time someone bothered to spawn camp the veteran and kill PvE scrubs like me.
  21. I came later to EoD as there were a couple of months I couldn't play. I have, admittedly, only tried three times, but each time was a success. The main gripe I do have however is that long metas are a pain in the butt for people with slightly dodgy Internet connections. Spend ages building your stacks or (as on one of my runs) start looting post event and -boom- DC. At least events like Dragon Stand and Drizz you get semi decent rewards as you go so you don't feel quite as much "out of pocket" for the time wasted.
  22. I used to get this so much from pinging waypoints/PoIs near daily events that I only bother pinging longer chains now.
  23. I actually do these events every time I see one while mapping Kessex. I enjoy the events, I love getting to use my random finishers, and the reward of a bonus node is nice.
  24. Everyone also seems to forget that they added no mount zones to a lot of the old JPs, but most of them can still be cheesed with mounts in specific places. Upgrading rewards and relying on making it uncheesable with mounts/gliders won't really work as they already tried stopping it before to no avail.
  25. Ahhh I tried /stuck but I didn't realise I was meant to not move for that long, thanks.
