  1. Like with most reports, it gets reviewed and the game data from around the time of the incident is looked at. If you did something wrong, you get popped for it. If you did nothing wrong, nothing is done. If you are maliciously or repeatedly wrongfully reported by the same person, that person gets actioned instead. At least, that's how it's supposed to work. Most likely you have nothing to worry about; people report for botting constantly in this game - I've even seen people get upset at others for completing jumping puzzles efficiently and declare hax and report. Blocking the person who was harassing you was the correct action in this situation.
  2. Nope; they came out at the same time as the fishing feature. However, if you liked the goldfish, also keep an eye out for the Red Herring (A distraction fish that sells for next to nothing) and the Silverfish (Sells for 1s).
  3. Emphasis mine, but yes. Translating things so they fit into the world is what helps with immersion, not just keeping things out of the game entirely. The Jade Bot skins and the cat chair seem outsourced because their art styles differ so dramatically from the rest of the game, and that's what makes them stand out in a bad way. If the cat chair had been a goofy stuffed Charr or Chauncey von Snuffles III done to fit the aesthetic of the world, it'd have fit right in alongside the various goofy backpacks we have. I don't mind if they want to emulate other franchises or add in-jokes from the real world, but I do wish they'd go through the Tyria filter first.
  4. I wasn't sure what OP meant, but no, they're right, there really is an in-game advert for Black Friday. I don't think I like that.
  5. Yeah, I was also somewhat surprised to see that the fancy rod or reaching top level in fishing didn't change fishing power or improve the experience in any way. If they wanna keep it like this, they really need to revise how fishing power works overall, and my impressions of the system haven't changed since the last time they poked it: - Accountwide tacklebox is still a must - Fishing party stacks should stay for an hour or so after you obtain them, re-upping the timer whenever you fish from the boat - Fishing party stacks should persist between maps (or even between play sessions if they go the lingering buff route mentioned above) - Fishing in open water should count toward the buff (it counts during fishing competitions, but not for fishing party for some reason) Fishing is a very isolated activity compared to other types of gathering in the game, and right now there's no incentive to leave your boat for any reason to participate in anything else or help anyone else if it means losing stacks and starting over from scratch after an hour of prep. Having to prepare to have fun every single time you fish is probably the biggest killer of this activity. This feature is not finished, and I hope they keep working on it until it is. 🎣
  6. Echoing the others saying yes. The variety would be nice. Charr, Sylvari, Norn, and even Asura have neat patterns you almost never get to see, and it's about time people got over the assumption of skin=promiscuity thing. If we've already decided we're okay with the various female armors that already show lower back, inner thigh, entire groin, side-butt, side-boob, and swimming goggles that have stripped us down to our (tacky) underwear since 2012, then I think we can handle new offerings along the same lines. And echoing the 'please just give me some normal pants and shoes' crowd - that too. Give us some staples: tank tops, swim shorts, casual jackets, a plain tux, or even some overalls. It ain't all about the booba, after all.
  7. Seems well within the normal 'sounds like' range for music. For example, EoD's opening wind instrument always reminds me of Lugia's Theme. They're not at all the same piece, just familiar because that's how sounds be. This is also how excellent mashup songs get made.
  8. Agreeing with OP. It's hard to talk overall profitability without seeing the numbers from their end, but they'd definitely make more from me if I could buy the things I want at the time I want them instead of the nothing they're currently making from me on the things I'm waiting for. People claim 'well, this makes people log in and check constantly for the thing they want and they buy other stuff while they wait!' <-- this absolutely does not apply to me. I either happen to see what I want when I log in, or I miss the sale of the thing completely because there's no watch list for the shop; their loss every time. If they insist on stock rotation, the least they could do is implement simple predictability, like the sort you see in retail and food services. You have a rough idea of when the Halloween stuff will show up at your local homegoods store. It's no secret when the peppermint drinks return to the coffee shop. No one is surprised to see the bathing suits at the department store in summer. With ArenaNet, however, sometimes you get the bathing suits never in January, the Halloween items in April, and the winter stuff in August - and even then it may not be the entire menu. As a matter of fact, there are some items that go literal years without returning in any form, including festival-related items that just... don't get sold during the festival. It's silly, and it should change.
  9. Yes, people did actually receive this hat. They were first getting it in error (before the goal was officially reached) by being in Lion's Arch (or any main city) at the turn of the hour (any hour) the day after the official streams. Logging in was not enough; you had to be standing in the city at the turn of the hour, otherwise nothing would happen. Echoing others that you should contact support to get this sorted, especially if the other relevant achievements are ticked for you.
  10. I like the idea of a generic, harvest-oriented mini celebration like OP describes. They have as much in GW1; it's called Special Treats Week. Enemies drop pie and cider, just a nice little extra for the autumn season. GW1 actually has quite a few in-between festivities alongside its more prominent celebratory events.
  11. I do get the disappointment, OP, and I don't see why people feel the need to ridicule you for it. I doubt you're the only person who feels this way, and even though I like fractals and am able to complete the requirements as currently implemented, I'm still glad you took the time to post your perspective - That's what forums are for. There have been similar issues in the past with story metas having really tight requirements (do them all or get nothing) or unpopular content choices (do a strike mission or no Turtle), and in some respects they've improved this situation by adding more options so people have more wiggle room to get to the end goal, but for LS1, I feel like they almost had to include fractals and dungeons simply because the plot that happens there is integral to the story of season one. Being that this is the first season players will experience, I'm not surprised that they're asking people to give everything a try, but I do understand the annoyance that comes from having already tried something and knowing it's not for you without having alternatives. Naturally, people will be willing help you meet the current requirements, but if ArenaNet decides to revisit this later and increase the wiggle room with more achievements toward the meta, that would also be an acceptable way to resolve the issue. Whatever path you eventually take, I hope you can eventually experience and enjoy Old LA. In the meantime, teleport to friend does work to get you in there, so at minimum you'll be able to visit and see what it's like and feel those launch-time feels.
  12. Love the idea, but I'm saving a slot for my fever dream guild, We Finally Got Swimsuits [POOL]. On a serious note, you should start a helpful community guild for people who enjoy aiding other players. I can't see any downside to having more of those around when there are so many twisty achievement chains, vague collection hints, and low-pop meta events around that need a bit of assistance.
  13. Because jerks will seize on any opportunity to be jerks, both here and in life. If you ask me, this is a good opportunity for the community's anti-jerks to offer escorts to the needed item, and I imagine if you asked for one you might find some people willing to help you get what you need. This bad behavior is not new. Back when world completion required WvW maps, there were similar issues with a similar solution. I hope people will band together to help each other like that again.
  14. This. This right here. For example, where did the Pegasus come from? Did it escape the Foundry of Failed Creations? We may never know, but a line or two of flavor text might have cleared that up. Who is the pharaoh the Pharaoh's Regalia outfit is named for? A primeval leader in Elona? A children's storybook character devised by an in-world author? Flavor text could clear that up. Elf ears, the Gallant Lightbearer, White Feather Wings, and a host of other items would land a lot more solidly in Tyria with just a small scribble about where they fit in the world. The easiest example I can pull up would be the Queensdale Academy Outfit and related wands. Right away we can assume the existence of an academy outside Divinity's Reach that teaches people how to use/hone their magic and that wands are a common implement in use there. No need for a physical location in-game; short and sweet, easy world building. I would like to see more of this. 👀
  15. The Team ArenaNet goal has not been reached, but the superteam that ArenaNet is part of has reached it. So yes, but actually no. The game is drawing (presumably) from the Team ArenaNet page's progress. They're close, but not fully done. Correct; the in-game counter has not yet updated, but as recently as yesterday, the hat was being awarded to donors who were in a main city at the turn of the hour (any hour, not just reset). I haven't done any science today to see if this patch has affected that, but that's the reason some people have the hat and some people do not.
  16. I was actioned the other day for discussing datamining, so watch ya butts, lads. I do want to see more gender equality for cosmetics though, so +1 to OP's request.
  17. People asked for this buff to be added to main cities and other hubs where players tend to idle/log out on a regular basis, with the prerequisite that you first own EoD and level up the related masteries. I didn't anticipate it being added to chairs; weird move, but I guess that's fine. In practice, I imagine you'll see a bunch of chairs around merchants where people are racking up the buff while doing their trading post and inventory management for the day. I'd still like to see the buff added as a passive benefit for staying/logging out in main cities/hubs, but having it on chairs doesn't seem harmful (yet). Maybe, since HoT/PoF elements (Mushrooms, gliding, ley lines, mounts) have seen their uses outside of expansion maps. As long as it's required that you have EoD first, they'll still get their sales and the masteries might feel less cheap if they aren't map/region locked, but who knows?
  18. Hello friend. You have posted this over 10 times here. Yours are currently the majority of posts in this thread, all saying essentially the same thing. Everyone is aware that you are disappointed. However, this thread was intended to inform people about the Extra Life promotion, the rewards, and how to obtain them. If you wish to continue airing your grievance, I would humbly request you do so in a thread of your own making.
  19. Report and move on. Yeah, it would. Being able to turn off 'your jade bot found something!' 'one of your equipped items does not have stats selected' and other persistent nags would also be great additions to the settings panel right up there with 'shut off tutorial achievement notifications'.
  20. Another PSA: You may be able to get your hat early. We're still $3,240 from hitting the goal proper, but users are reporting receiving the hat anyway. Here's how: Buy an Extra Life item from the shop (If you've already done this, you're good) Visit Lion's Arch (I've also heard Divinity's Reach will work) Wait on that map until the turn of the hour (~40 minutes until the next one) ??? Hatte It's unclear if this is a goof, but given that subgroups have already put us well past $125,000, I'd say we're in the clear. Thank you to everyone who donated and everyone who streamed. Nice work.
  21. And six hours later, we're now only $6,430 away from it! That's $1,967 raised in 6 hours if we use today as an example. Assuming the donations keep rolling at roughly the same rate until the 8th (this is when the Extra Life items leave the shop), we could be looking at upwards of 15k (likely less, since I imagine donations would taper after reaching the 125k mark). I think we stand a good chance of reaching the community goal and getting the hat for everyone, but I'm also just happy to see the fundraiser doing so well. That's a lot of kids helped.
  22. I enjoyed this quest a lot too and the rewards are fantastic. It was done for a good cause, but it also added new lore to the game. 👀 For those wondering what those rewards are: 15 AP The title 'Detective' An invisible chair with three poses built into it that you can switch between while seated <-- Would love to see this for other chairs!
  23. No, this item was essentially a log-in reward offered through the shop as a freebie (0 Gems, from August 25 to September 12, 2012). Anyone who checked out at the game at that time was able to get one; there was no achievement or task involved. Later, at the 10th anniversary, codes for the hat were given away through the GW2 Twitter, and now they are being awarded to those who contribute toward this year's Extra Life community goal. Other exclusives have been treated this way in the past, most recently the Aurene cape that originally came with the physical Aurene statue, but also things like the Miniature Mr. Sparkles, which coincidentally returned as an Extra Life reward after being unavailable for many years. EDIT: Forgot to mention, but we're up to $95,000+ on ArenaNet's Extra Life page. Yeet.
  24. Narrative implies that you think people are lying or making up a story to support their opinions. Narrative is an incorrect term; the word you are looking for is observation. People have had different experiences regarding the DE meta than you have, and as a result their observations on the subject are different from your own. We're up to 7 pages in this thread alone of people being divided on the subject; to me that seems like a pretty good indication that there are mixed feelings regarding this meta. The 'there is no x in Ba Sing Se' angle is dismissive of the views and experiences of others, and I wish you would stop using it. If I can accept that some people legitimately have a great time in Dragon's End, you should be able to accept that some people don't and it's not just a tiny minority, the same three people in a circle, or some kind of campaign to spread falsehoods. Source: The forum you spend a lot of time on every day and the things people say on it.
  25. Can confirm. Before mounts, gliding, mushrooms, and leylines got added, I and a buddy of mine from launch would often engage in a game of 'I'm up here' wherein whenever one of us would go AFK for a few minutes, they'd come back to the other saying 'hey, I'm up here' and find them in some impossible place standing on goofy geometry. The opponent would then either concede defeat or attempt to climb to someplace higher on the same structure. We still play from time to time, as a treat. Sorry OP, some of us just enjoy jumping on stuff. Maybe it's a residual reflex from all those years of playing platformers.
