  1. If they use the gw1 spear for inspiration, it was also a knockdown, and considering how telegraphed it was, it's worthy of some hard cc. Then again, it risks being too similar to Facet of Chaos.
  2. So not like clones then? They are just a resource mechanic, much closer to adrenaline. You wanted Togo, whose greatest achievement was dying to Shiro.
  3. You mean shield bubble as in projectile deflect/reflect? I don't think that's noteworthy by itself, not to mention we already have plenty of projectile denial already. It's the one thing Ventari clings on to stay relevant, too. Barrier share is still exclusive to scourge for the most part and something I think devs are interested in proliferating to other specs, and revenant already has some personal barrier, so it won't be out of left field.
  4. 10 skills is not likely, since we actually have to unlock them with skill points. My prediction is that the elite was the ghostly Archemorus we saw in the trailer, and vindicator gets 2 elites, choosing between Arch and Viktor.
  5. That Archemorus ghost we saw in the trailer has to be the elite, so I'm thinking vindicator can choose one of the two heroes for their elite (since rev gets one less skill than other classes, it will be a second elite for vindicator). Notice how it said "protect" their allies, not support or heal. I'm thinking of https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Shield_of_Saint_Viktor. So vindicator will share barrier to allies.
  6. Those are influences, but the people themselves are still ethnically Asian. Like their race. This is what Bank of Japan HQ looks like, clearly neoclassical architecture, does that mean Japanese are now considered European? And that's only true for Kurzicks and Luxons, who were meant to be outsiders. The Canthan Empire itself is very clearly Imperial China with some Japanese hints.
  7. Deleting the core class would be "super interesting"? It doesn't even work anyway, they would have to rework half the traits.
  8. Speaking of which, they reused the daredevil dash and staff 5 for harbinger. And I agree harbinger got the short end of the stick, the elixirs had a new animation, but are boring af, and even the shroud reused the same circle from the FB axe 2. That been said, I still found har the most fun spec to play, so visuals aren't everything.
  9. You are just blinded by the flashy visuals of virtuoso to notice all the reused animations. The devs who do the character rigging are not the same that make 3d assets. That's why animations are heavily reused, and that has alweays been the case since the base game, it's just that you were too oblivious to notice until you saw Gravedigger, since that one is very obvious. Also, for what is worth, they do infact do mocap, but for npcs.
  10. You are talking about in-game chronology, I'm talking about real life. Movement of the World is a decade old, the devs could have changed Cantha's lore. The letters were added to the game after EoD development started, so the devs showed their hand on where they want to take the story. They draw inspirations from multiple sources, but they are very much still an Asian region. The Kurzicks might be emo gothic tree hippies, but they are still Asian, even if they build European cathedrals. When you go into Kaineng centre, it's not european, or even Japanese influenced, it's very much purely Imperial China.
  11. I'm not saying it got better, I'm saying it's over, the empire won. You can't have three centuries of purging, at this point there are at best going to be some small pockets of "impures" still resisting. Also, we have much more recent confirmation of the purging with the Sungua Peak fractal, the letters you find scattered confirm that they were attacking Kurzicks and non-humans. 1 2 3 Also, IBS had a very different story. Bangar was a usurper, and the charr united against him. We didn't come to save them, we were only involved because of Jormag. The Cantha situation is very different. You are describing supporting rebels to overthrow an empire. I'm pretty sure the empire's citizens will not be very happy about it. And that's without mentioning all the strong parallels between Cantha and current China, which I'm sure anet wants to avoid at all costs.
  12. If fishing and skiffs are mediocre, that's exactly why they wouldn't hide a new class, or avoid any hints or teasers whatsoever.
  13. At least it has a block, and what looks to be 2 dodges, or one is the dodge replacement.
  14. How do you do the twitter embed on the forums? I'm too dumb to figure it out.
  15. https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/1433845324343230471 https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/1436722061464924160
  16. This week is rev/war/ele with the reveal stream on Friday and the beta next week.
  17. It's the third wave of e-specs, it's fine if they are not good in all game modes. Worse case scenario, the traits and weapon might be good enough to justify using 2 core legends, like renegade does in pvp. The one area rev was lacking is pve power damage, and this seems like exactly what it's trying to do.
  18. They are not going to introduce a new class, period. Revenant was a messy release that took years to iron out, and it was implemented at the start of the e-spec system, so they didn't have any catching up to do. They are not going to make ritualist a seperate class when elite specs exist as a system. Even if ritualist was a new class, they would promote the hell out of it at the xpac reveal, instead of being all "sneaky tehe" at the end of a trailer. Even if all of the above were false, a ritualist teaser wouldn't use the existing outfit.
  19. That's quite the myopic view. Yes, you have customization, now go ahead and put Bane Signet and Sword of Justice in your skill bar, because no other skill is good for damage. What other classes have that rev lacks are the smaller choices. You want stability, you swap a single skill for Stand your Ground, but your gameplaying experience is largely unchanged. Revenant has to swap half their build to get Jalis, and that leads to a very different experience depending on your legend choices. You might find it bad, but it's the reason why rev doesn't bore me compared to other classes.
  20. From the commander's POV, we don't really have a horse in the race. Whatever followed Winds of Change is probably already over by now. Sure, there are still victims and old grievances, but we get invited to Cantha* and see all the pretty jadetech, not the centuries of purging. Also, even if Cantha is hostile, we can just go back to our corner of the world. I don't think Anet would do a "tyrian saviour" story where we go against the empire to show them the errors of their ways. This is not a Joko situation, it's a lot more political than a zombie-raising lich. *I don't really see a story where we decide to go to Cantha by ourselves. We were perfectly happy to ignore them and their dragon all those years, so we either get invited, or we end up there accidentally after some Mist-travelling.
  21. I think that is pretty key. The empire turned against Luxons and Kurzicks, so they'd have to let go of old hatred to fight the common threat. And what better symbol of that alliance than a similar past alliance against a previous threat from the empire. That's all fine in the context of canthan revenants, but it's iffy for tyrian revenants. Also, it's the third heroic e-spec, it seems like the faustian bargain aspect of revenant is all but forgotten at this point. But hey at least it's not a kittening Tengu.
  22. Revenant is not a hall of fame. Some legends you channel for their power, not their achievements. Mallyx was the second best thing after Abaddon, and it's pretty clear why Abaddon himself was off-limits. Even talking about achievements, spawning a new race influenced by your philosophies is a bigger deal than dying to the final boss. The main problem with A&V is that all they are known for (which is the one thing the trailer mentioned, too) is fighting Shiro. It took 3 of them and it wasn't a real victory either. And that would still be fine to an extent, but we already have Shiro. It's a downgrade no matter how you see it. It would be like getting Varesh or Ronan, they are second fiddle to bigger legends. The only excuse is that lore-wise, Canthan revenants would never channel Shiro and they already revere A&V.
