  1. Revenant is like elementalist, there's no unifying colour theme. Arguably less so with rev, since it's like they get a new element with each spec. Black, red and white is partially true when it comes to core weapon skills, but elite specs again break that pattern. A predominantly black coloured heavy armour will signify a revenant to me. If can still have secondary colour details, maybe even matching the colours of your chosen legends. Blindfolds are also a signature rev piece. You can avoid the revenant armour of you don't want to look like Rytlock. I think the runic armour looks beautiful in dark gray/black and allows secondary colours, which makes it a great choice for revenant.
  2. Put a sigil of cleansing in one of your weapons, and done.
  3. That was my first through too, but in second thought the stow and draw animations, as well as having the gungloves (guntlets?) resting on the hips would all look pretty weird. Unless they make new tech and animations were the guntlets are always on, but that's legendary weapon territory. On the other hand, I'm sure engineers would be pretty hyped for gungloves even with wonky animations.
  4. Firebrand doesn't need healing power to offer those boons. Druid will play healer, but you are better off with scourge as your secondary. The only reason not to take a healscourge was because condi scourge still had tons of barrier access in dps gear, but that was changed. Especially in training squads, the commander would be stupid to turn down a carrying build like healscourge and prioritise group dps.
  5. Elementals have no summon cap like necro minions, you can keep summoning more every time the skill is up, so you can have 4 of them with no alacrity/cooldown resets involved.
  6. When you say bundle, you specifically refer to ashes? They would never make bundles in gw2 that just remove your weapon skills without replacing them with new skills.
  7. its the only stubreak from a rev that grants stab (without the Invocation trait), so stab should be removed imo Stun breaks with a cast time have a short duration stab to cover the cast time, otherwise they would fail a lot at being stun breaks. This is the case for other professions, too. How would you move the CC to a different skill? Then what does this skill do, damage? It's a AoE CC + stun break. The reason for the stab is explained above. The protection is from the trait and applies to all spirits.
  8. Kanaxai has been mentioned a bunch of times already in the other threads, even before the teaser. Personally, I don't see it, in fact I think the teaser image made it less likely, because Kanaxai's double axes were his signature weapons, and he has nothing to do with blue flames. His gw1 skillset also doesn't have anything to draw a playstyle from, so he would purely be used as a namedrop for nostalgia points. And I don't follow your logic. You mention blue and red, which have nothing to do with Kanaxai, the duality of Luxon and Kurzich when Kanaxai was purely a Luxon boss. Anyway, feel free to join us in the Silhouette thread.
  9. Less skills? Rev would have the legend swap instead of toolbelt, and a weapon swap. It would be clunky and not something I would like to see personally, but it would also be kinda broken due to the amount of skills alone.
  10. Having a fixed skill bar doesn't prevent you from making a bad build anymore than another class. You call rev simple because of how the build crafting works, but that has nothing to do with gameplay. Most people don't even do their own buildcrafting and just copy an existing one online. In combat, rev has to manage 2 weapon sets, 2 legends and energy. Even in pve where memorizing rotations pretty much cancels the energy mechanic, a good rev player still has to know when and how to best break the rotation to save energy for cc. Having played ele and engi, I would put rev on the same level of complexity as those two, with weaver being a tier above. Even engi is a bit overrated, the complexity is mostly artificial because you just have to press more buttons for the same effect. Finally, it's not like other professions have that much freedom in skill choices. A power dps guardian will always take Bane Signet and Sword of Justice, for example. which is why power DH and WB feel like you are playing the exact same build. What they have is modularity, i.e. being able to make smaller changes to their builds, whereas revenant has to swap an entire legend. But that's still possible, for example alacrigade can take Shiro for damage, Mallyx for boon strip or Jalis for stability.
  11. Mesmer's signature is the laser, I would expect something closer to old guardain satff for rev, cone based autos, and mixed ranges. Ranger spirits are closer to banners that can be killed, while renegade spirits are wells that can be killed. I don't see much similarity, outside of the shortbow. And yes, the whole idea behind elite specs is introducing different playstyles. The problem is not so much that necro exists (though when you ask specifically for a GS-wielding minion spec, it's way too close to Reaper even for elite specs), but that we just got an AI focused e-spec, and it's understandable why people don't want to see a second one in a row. Plus, this is revenant, it's not like people picked the class up because of its summons, in fact it was the only class without summons other than warrior
  12. If you get advised to stay away from engi/ele/rev, it's purely becaused they are considered complex classes. Engi/Ele have more buttons to press that other classes, and rev has the energy system which is basically mana when all other classes have only cooldowns to worry about. Since you've already had success with rev, then go for it. Rev is a great class, very diverse (you can play any role due to the legend system), and, I know that's subjective, one of the most fun ones.
  13. They could also just use ghosts for the aesthetic alone, i.e. a damage skill whose visuals are some ghosts rushing forward (think Hecarim R from LoL if you are familiar with that), instead of proper A.I summons.
  14. Not necessarily. Foefire made everyone it killed into a ghost, but instead of having rev summon those existing ghosts, it could have us "create" them instead. So for example, your teammates that are about to die or are downed, are revived by the foefire with a skill like Rebound or Illusion of Life. Maybe even use the new fancy negative max hp to represent the foefire corruption.
  15. And yet that new identity always end up being ritualist. I have yet to see "here's how a monk/mesmer/whatever legend would work". The identity of revenant is channeling powerhouses of Tyria's past, wielding power that players were not supposed to have. An assassin or thief would never expect to be able to control the Jade Winds, but as a revenant you are allowed to. Yet, instead of looking at these great figures, we have posts like "Togo, a standard ritualist with no special skills of his own, is a great legend to channel, for no reason other than the fact that he is a ritualist, and I want to play a ritualist". No, I want to have the power of the mursaat, control the Foefire, channel the dead gods or the elder dragons. When you have access to that kind of power, why would you want to limit the class to random nobodies like Togo, or Talon, or some random character whose greatest accomplishment is appearing in the first game?
  16. If it's indeed Foefire related, I hope it's Adelbern and called Legendary Sorcerer Stance, since he's known as the Sorcerer-King.
  17. That's a buff honestly. Lingering aoes usually do minimal damage. Especially in pve, you risk losing your aegis to some floor aoe dot when you want to block a big boss attack. The problem with aegis is not with the boon itself, but with the pve fight design that focuses on 10k single packet hits. What's the point of playing a healer when your teammates won't be alive to be healed, when you can share aegis instead, or barrier. That's why both scourge and firebrand are outliers. If fights were more about constant damage pressure, FB actually has limited sustain healing, and scourge can't heal any damage that gets through the barrier.
  18. I also play Mallyx, and I use all of the utilities, I don't get why you don't. The pull is extremely useful both solo and in team scenarios to group everything together and cleave them down. When everything is grouped together, it's an indirect damage increase. It's also a hard CC + chill for breakbars. The boon rip doesn't do direct damage either, but removing an enemy's Resolution translates to a massive 50% damage increase. It's also heavily used in fractals if you play support renegade. Shiro's utilities are more 1v1 oriented, but you should absolutely be using your elite especially in open world. Revenant has 50 free energy at the start of every fight. Start in Shiro, use the elite, gaining tons of Battle Scar stacks in the process, then swap legends and cleave everything down. If you can start every fight with a 3 second stun, why wouldn't you?
  19. Firebrand doesn't actually have a lot of raw healing, and most of it is gated behind F2's cooldown. It mostly makes up for it with aegis, if the FB player is good at blociking big attacks with it. Ventari on the other hand has too much raw healing, the Ventari skill (the one that also gives alacrity) can heal for 10k every 2 sec in heal gear, and that's just excessive. Herald can go Glint/Jalis instead to access stability, get a lot of healing out of regen, combines with permanent uptime on all other boons (including 25 might now with the combo field change), Assassin's Presense, 10% damage reduction on Jalis F2 aura, boon extention.
  20. So Rytlock has been to the Mists, same as Joko. What if the legend is Rytlock? 😖
  21. Turrets have the immobility, but they too are very damage/cc oriented. Only the healing turret provides party support. Honestly, if renegade was skinned differently, nobody would think twice about declaring it a true gw2 ritualist. The mechanics and gameplay is there, people are just attached to the spooky chained ghosts visuals.
  22. Do the people that say Talon actually him as a legend? Revenant can channel any one of the powerhouses in Tyria's history, why choose a random Tengu with no special ability of his own? WB's source of red were details on the armor and swords, the people that were saying thief were high on copium. This teaser on the other hand is summoning blue flames, it's not just some minor detail, and they don't look like they have been edited, same with the sword. Only the silouette is obscured.
  23. Mesmer is just a pet summoner. And they are not alone in that regard, necro can summon minions, too. I don't see how that is similar to ritualist. Ritualist spirits were immobile summons that did damage, yes, but also provided party benefits, which other clones/phantams/minions don't. Renegade 2 spirits that do damage, and 3 that provide buffs, which is why it's closest to ritualist.
  24. Yes, believe it or not, I shelved my guardian for that reason. It might sound stupid, but to me firebrand meant that we would never get the real tomes back.
