  1. VFX =/= animation VFX is the skill effect, animation is the character movement. Virtuoso had no new animations, only new VFX. Vindicator has new VFX, too, so I don't get the complain.
  2. Maybe rev only has one dodge like Mirage, but it takes 100 endurance? So it's like a mega dodge. Honestly, the only reason I'm partially ok with Arch/V is because this looks like a power spec and I'm hoping for some banter if you pick Shiro with them. Also, it can't be worse than Kalla. The visuals are new (the same applies to vindicator), but the animations were reused. Heck, the dagger auto is the same old dagger slash animation that all classes have even though it's a ranged attack.
  3. That was my issue, too. To me it's impossible to play charr on a build without perma swiftness. Actually that was a reason to go charr rev at first, because of Facet of Elements, but then PoF happened and my charr looks so goofy riding a raptor that's clearly too small for him, so now my rev is human.
  4. It's the only way left for revenant to do ranged damage at this point. I agree that this skill is overtuned, but before nerfing it, they really need to fix hammer and remove some of shortbow clunkiness (like not having skill 4 be cancelled if you move in front of the center of the circle during the cast)
  5. And how is that relevant to this thread's topic again?
  6. Bruh, we are not talking about golem rotations, it's about the aspect of mobility that really only matters in competitive. Still, the very video you linked says that there's a bug that gives 10% damage increase to WB. If that's patched out, you are looking at 36k dps. More importantly, the build plays like a dragonhunter will less utility.
  7. This is a very nice take of assassin that actually feels like a worthwhile addition to thief. The main-off-dual chain is a nice opportunity to offer some depth to initiative instead of it being spam focused. I would suggest going all the way and removing stealth. Instead when you would gain stealth, you gain Feigned Neutrality which provides damage reduction and heal over time and is removed when you use a skill.
  8. Renegade, Spellbreaker, Mirage, Deadeye all featured PoF armour in their art, there's no reason why this teaser doesn't depict a new EoD set.
  9. That's why they need to avoid legends directly involved with the elder dragons because they make these comparisons easy. The whole exodus was the result of Jormag's burgain. For all we know, if they norn united they could have dealt with Jormag right then and there. It was Jormag that convinced Asgeir to flee south.
  10. Except that IBS deconstructed Asgeir's legend. In the end, he chipped a tooth, ran away, and lied to his people. The commanded has been involved in the killing of 5 elder dragons, why do we need to channel the tooth chipper?
  11. Keep in mind condi requires hard to acquire gear and runes and is harder to play. But if you play wvw, you will have use of it outside of raids.
  12. I mentioned the spirits of the wild already, and that exactly the reason why. Any such approach is ignoring the legend to deliver a "Norn" elite spec. Jora didn't gave any particular mastery over the spirits, in fact quite the opposite she was notable for being unable to shapeshift to Bear when we meet her in gw1, before we killed Svanir. Shiro is a good example of not being a typical assassin. Besides the Jade Wind which is a huge deal, his gw1 boss fight skillset was very expansive and inspired gw2 rev mechanics like Impossible Odds, Battle Scars, sword 3.
  13. And that what I meant when I said they were warriors of some kind. What would the gameplay of Jora/Asgeir look like? Because with Kalla they gave us the whole warband. The point is there needs to be some gameplay hook. Ventari never fought, but his tablet and his pacifist nature dictated his kit.
  14. I don't think the devs are that worried about racial diversity. Gw1 was a human-centric story, it is unavoidable that there's more human lore. Then there's the issue of gameplay. It's hard to make an asura legend that's not a golemancer engineer because all prominent asura are inventors first and foremost. Really the only choice I can think of is Dessa and have the kit revolve around fractals weirdness. Plus, asura as a race are more likely to treat rev channelling as a means to an end and pick the strongest options rather than practice hero worship. As for Norn, unless they go the villainous route with Svanir, all legendary norn were warriors of some kind. They could draw inspiration from the spirits of the wild, but there's no good legend options to go that.
  15. I'm not sure what that's supposed to prove. Revenant was an entirely new profession and received fundamental changes during the betas. It even got weapon swap out of nowhere, which was a much more impactful change than any skill tweaks. And yes, there were bugs. WB doesn't suffer because of bugs. We also shouldn't expect the same level of changes as rev got. Yes, the damage will be tweaked, but that's true even in regular balance patches. At the end of the day, WB might be a good alternative for the +1 role, but that doesn't mean it has to invalidate any existing specs, and it's precisely that doom and gloom I'm addressing.
  16. It wasn't me, I just joined the discussion. Yes, the legend is Kalla, but she doesn't share her powers with you. It's not like her warband were her pets, you shouldn't need Kalla to access her warband. So, in practice, you summon her warband, and channel their leader Kalla to coordinate them.
  17. We never got to play that version of rev. Yes, WB is also in beta, and they can iron out some clunkiness, like the F1 slow attack animation, or up the damage for off-hand sword, but it's not realistic to expect fundamental changes. You also have to keep in mind that Shiro is part of base rev, it will always be available regardless of e-spec.
  18. Another thing to consider Doesn't the fact that you need to channel 3 people at once for it to make sense tell you enough about whether they can be a viable legend or not? As draxynnic said, they are part of Shiro's legend. It took three great heroes to take him down, they died in the process and Shiro still came back. Then, you have to look it from another perspective. The devs already covered Shiro's arc and picked the best possible choice. What's the point of going back to the same story and scrapping the bottom of the barrel? Yes, they can retcon them, but there's still so much other lore they can use instead.
  19. Kalla couldn't summon ghosts, so the spirits are rev's own doing. So, while you do indeed channel Kalla, you also summon the ghosts of her warband, whereas all other legends were solo deals.
  20. Engi is male charr, ele is female human/norn. That leaves only rev (male sylvari) or thief (male human), since guardian is already out. Then looking at the teaser itself, it wears a blindfold, the armour looks heavy-like, and the weapon matches the datamined one.
  21. Its ok, engi and rev can get an extra weapon instead. Edit: Got necrobaited 💀
  22. Same thing that happens with rev. Revenant legends trigger on-swap sigils, too, and they still have regular weapon swap. Sigils have a 9sec icd, so it's not a problem balancing-wise.
