Distortion disabled?

It is.

In competitive modes distortion is a key skill, without it your survivality drops a lot.

I solo a lot of OW, Bounties and Champs and having F4 down made life a lot harder.   F4 means I can chain pull mobs and if it gets hectic, I have an out.

I did die due to not having F4 several times until I realized it was giving an error message.

I could play it slower and be okay but, efficient gaming is preferred. So Virt gets to sit until Anet fixes

Didn't understand what you meant.

This bug I wrote about you get it basically the same way, put a clone out, change spec before you get into combat and one of the dots will always be coloured, you can't get 3 clones out and every shatter counts only as 2.

Doesn't always happens, in fact, never happened to me, only to a friend.

There is a bug that has to do with underwater play that will bug out your clones so when they spawn they spawn dead but your clone pips are always full, visual only. It has been around for a LONGGGGGG time.

Same. I *can* play more carefully while it is disabled, but blocks and distortion have been the anchor of my survivability with Mesmer from day 1. It might take longer than a week just to train my brain to do things differently, so I'd rather wait it out over on a different character.

I was playing a character that only had weaver unlocked when it happened, although fortunately I was running around Auric Basin at the time and managed to collect enough hero points to unlock enough of Catalyst to make a functional build before the meta started. Can't remember if I had a hammer on that character at the time or if I just ran sceptre catalyst.

I wouldn't say it's AS big a deal as weaver essentially being deleted for a time, and if you're playing through easier PvE content you can often get away without it. However, Distortion becomes a very important skill in any competitive mode (especially for safe stomping) and in circumstances where you are stretching yourself - being able to make yourself invulnerable for a few seconds is very effective for avoiding or giving yourself time to recover from a particularly big hit. It's also arguably even more valuable for virtuosos than other elite specialisations, since you can have daggers up out of combat and thus can pop it when someone attempts a surprise gank on you - a strength that has probably been accounted for in virtuoso's power budget in competitive modes.

I'm luckily unaffected by this because I don't run Virt often. That said, let's forget about its near-critical utility in competitive modes for a minute and think about OW.

You've never been out of dodges/stunbreaks (or been cc'd) and seen something coming that you can't possibly escape any other way? Like maybe one of those massive AoE fields that covers basically the entire ground?

How about those "interact with X while attacking mobs are constantly interrupting you" steps in numerous missions/events? Press F4, interact, ignore interruptions, hope it lasts long enough. 😆

It might not get quite as much use in OW PvE, but F4 is always my break-glass-in-emergency option for that sort of thing.

Believe it or not, actually no.

So, this is obviously just me, but I'm not much of action player. I'm a tactical player. That's really what attracted me to GW1, the building, the teamwork, you know, the tactics, and I play GW2 in much the same way. So basic things like Know Your Exits, Positioning, things like that, I very rarely find myself out of dodges. In fact one of my biggest problems when I do walk into WvW is that I don't carry stunbreaks. I'm not even sure what skills to use, so I tend to get ganked in WvW when dodging or backing off just doesn't work. I never even considered using F4 in that situation.

As for those "Interact with X while fighting" things, again I haven't had much of a problem with that. It's usually not hard to just clear the area first, but I can see where you're getting at. Kinda "Screw the rules, I have distortion". If I find myself in that situation I usually rely on Invisibility more.

But they're good points. Maybe I should work harder on using it more. I just so rarely find myself ever needing it.

I play almost exclusively in WvW. This has made my Virtuoso unplayable in battles. 

Not sure why they couldn't just hot fix this issue instead of ruining a week of play time. If this affected PvE players, they would have fixed it immediately. 🙄

If you ever find yourself redoing the final Shadow of the Dragon fight at the end of Season 2, that's one spot that comes to mind - when you're trying to channel the flames, a circle appears with you, and Braham is either being slow with the shield or it's going to be one of the attacks that interrupts you despite the shield.

Granted, that's not a general OW thing. Generally speaking, good tactics in OW mean that you don't use Distortion more often than not. On the other hand, it's good to be aware of it because, as someone earlier said, it's a great "break glass in case of emergency" skill, and it is one of the big strengths of mesmer in general.

Distortion is your best friend when you're out of dodges, aegis, or vigor; it allows you to keep fighting or disengage even when you're stretching yourself thin in combat. while there are workarounds, no distortion makes a few fights difficult to have that extra cushion of sustain. granted I have been using blade renewal (sometimes with mimic), but it isn't the same as having on-demand distortion and being able to cast other skills. Not having 5s of invuln in PvE or 3.75s in WvW & PvP makes virtuoso unplayable.

Thank god this ends tomorrow.

Anet has shown little regard for Mesmer. I've played since launch, lead a guild that used to have over 300 Mesmers. Porting is no longer what it was, and Mesmer is low priority to fix, but top when nerfs happen. They did the same to Ele which hasn't been the same or as powerful as it was pre Draconis mon addition. We have our main defensive skill back for now, but it is obviously in the cross hairs so Mesmers know we will be getting nerfed again.

Like many, I've played since release.
I've played all the classes. And read all the class forums.
Every single class has a laundry list of complaints. For anyone to think their class has it worse is being disingenuous. Full stop. Don't say anymore. "But this, But that" etc etc..STOP 

It sucks and it might FEEL like Mesmer gets it the worse. That is simply not true. EVERY ONE OF US has multiple and consistent valid complaints.

Being in a guild of 300 fellow Mesmers only emboldens one sided opinions.

What I have seen is a very unorganized and unprofessional group of employees  who don't take their job as seriously as we do the classes/Game
^This is the truth.

Eh. I think there are some that do genuinely have it better and some that have it worse, although like you say, they all have issues. And despite common belief, most of the ones that have it better are the ones that have a solid core design that's harder to mess up.

It has been my experience, if any issue is brought up about any needed change or buff or fix, or well anything pvp related (I guess only pvp related) the pve fanbois and girls, dgaf.
