In two months, this expansion will feel like Grothmar Valley (at least in Grothmar, the meta event gives you valuable items!).

In two Months it will be November and that will bring the first annual update to the story, to the two maps and it will bring the new raid.

I have a full time job and play GW2 as much as I can alongside other games on my free time, which makes my actual playtime rather limited. But even though I do feel like the original post is exaggerating things, I also feel like I'm running out of things to do in JW specifically. I do my daily hearts (still haven't capped them yet)... and then what?

Spears and the OW Warclaw are definitely cool additions, but I have to admit I expected a bit more bang for my buck for an expansion release priced at 25€. Sure, there'll be more content later on, but a bit more meat with a long term tangible goal to work towards at launch would have been welcome I think.

I play GW2 on and off, often taking long breaks, and I can say at the very least, with 2 of those mini-expacs now out, that I really don't get the same feeling of excitement and novelty I had back when any of the larger expansions and their corresponding Living World episodes released.

they still haven't given us back pet summons in relics, Arenanet why ;sss

My dog themed alt with all her dogs has been crying since they got rid of the Ogre rune 6 piece bonus.

And my Minion Master has been sad since the Sigils rework took away my Fleshreaver summon.

You're out of your mind if you think new runes and new food will change the meta we are all used to.

Just look at the fish food, it was new, and guess how irrelevant it is.

Hey now! Don't diss EoD and the content it added! Like a few months of me being able to sell all the Kale I had for overinflated prices! XD

I love how there are valid complaints in other threads, heart progression for example and then there's this yelling into the wind that we're not getting more.. runes, food and stats ignoring the roadmap with.. what is being planned for the future releases.
I swear this could be turned into a meme where the crow jumps in front of the proper feedback yelling that the lack of runes and food is going to doom the expansion.

Seems about right

hehe, yeah. I mean there are valid complaints indeed but there are always complaints no matter what Anet brings out.

Please no. Like non of this is actually useful in MMO older than 10 years.

Please yes. Issue with most changes above is "feedback" from "veteran" players as we saw when they introduced relic system.

Depend what do you see as innovation. Like gliding and mounts can be seen as innovation and it is same for homestead.

It would be good to rework boons, stats and fractal infusions, but it will not bring enough new players and "whales" will be not happy with any change as in any MMO.

In all honesty the homestead system isn't really that innovative when you look at.. 2/3 of the system were already in game.. just they added a few new rustic decos and added in the dev tools they have obviously been using for years to develop the maps, scenery etc. So yes its nice to have that set of tools, but there is a distinct lack of decos when comparing to guild hall scribing.. but then at least the cost element is  less of an issue that with scribing in general.

To me its a nice addition and will keep me and others busy creating some stuff for a whiles until the new toy thing subsides, besides I wouldn't be surprised if this goes the same way as guild halls in general and be left to fester... it needs way more decos to really make this thing a creative success imo and I don't mean pushing it to gem store either.

The homecrafter profession should of had the research functionality included from the start for sure, but like other things this just seems like a bit of a hole plugger and rushed in to try to get ahead of the player housing bubble that's been thrown around in other MMO's of late.

So its a nice thing, a good start but it needs some attention and development imo to make it a sustainable player pastime

Look at the face of twitch 2 weeks after the launch at 7PM CET

The expac is already dead

Do you guys think OP knows that they are sorted by recommended and not high-to-low, and so there could be people streaming with literally thousands of viewers that they don't even see because Twitch doesn't think they'd want to watch them?

If we're gonna cherry-pick screenshots of lulls in daily Twitch viewership to prove our point, we could at least make it look like we understand how that website works, no?

Take another screenshot with it sorted high-to-low from 4-5 PM EST and let's see where the viewership actually is.

This is GW2. If you're tired of it and frustrated, put it down and play something else for a couple of months, maybe a year.
The game will still be here when you get the inclination to play it again, and it's healthier to play a range of games than dedicate all of your time to one anyway.

I'm confused. OP seems to be saying that elite specs, stat combos and new runes are ways to 'progress your character'. How are new stats or elite specs progress for a character? It doesn't sound like OP is thinking of horizontal progression, because then homesteads would fit the progression bill, right?

I enjoyed the pacing this time. The story was much better written as well. I enjoyed that I have the luxury of time to just experience the new zones.

Am I mostly done with the achievements? Yes, will be wrapping up the Heart achievements soon too. Then I'll go back to my long term goal of cranking out Legendaries. I may throw convergences back into my daily routine, or at least weekly rifting as I suspect that the new legendaries will require those currencies. But I liked the new zones, nice and chill. Might become my go to place to farm spirit shards in the future.

So the takes are:
1. Play slowly if you spending 2hours in each fractal level so its like 200 hours of pure content. If you stay afk in janthir hub after prologue instead of playing game then that means there is like A LOT content for later to have fun (probably).

2. Its alright to receive 1 location and wait like 1 years to get next portion of small expac.
3. If you cant prove that next expac gonna be as bad and empty as this one or like soto then it wont happen 100% just try critical thinking mr. hater

I dont get tit

Guild Wars 2 is my passion and I am on the road for 1 year in the desert, minimum.

It's like all the big things are keeped for later but when ?

This is where I'm at. I'm nearly done with getting all the AP from repeating the hearts (They'll just be a passive source of the Ursan coins for me after that from any boxes I get from passively completing them during sessions), and I've most of the other chieves done. We already know the updated rift essense currencies will be part of the legendary crafting for the spear and backpack, so I'll probably start doing the 3-per-week thing again for the bonus weekly boxes of essence. But I'm in no  hurry.

Instread I've been having an inordinate amount of fun just bounding around the two maps on my oversized kitty/air-bunny/bloodhound sniffing out treasure, grabbing the special harvesting nodes as I go, and hitting any events I pass that I fancy taking part in. No pressure, no rush, there's plenty of time to aqquire materials towards the future stuff.

I also have to chuckle when I see complaints that "we're only getting 3 maps/2 maps+2 half-size maps". If you do the math on content releases since Core, the average is around 3 maps per year and many of the maps we got during the Living Story seasons were smaller maps. I'd much rather have annual expansions that give regular and reasonable chunks of content spread out across the year along with other features being introduced/worked-on, than have bigger expansions with 1-2 year content droughts in between. As for new elite specs, that system is already pretty glutted and complicated as heck to balance. I feel using the introduction of new weapons with interesting mechanics on them is a good compromise that frees-up resources for Anet to use in sorting out and developing other things.

Gearing your character is an important part of progression for new player, unlocking mount, biger bags, elite specialisation, unlocking aptitude in WvW, crafting your first legendary thing, ...

Homing is a tool for solo RPing. I cant recommand homming to my friends because it will stuck their progression and I will play less with them. It's difficult to push someone in strike/raid/fractal, WvW or any content that require a little bit of effort if he is still in exotic with random build. The experience will be desastrous

You do know that you can get ascended armor throug wizards vault? Example builds can be viewed on e.g metabattle, so what's the problem? The only advantage  of legendary is

that they are account bound and the stats can be  easily changed. Gearing up should therefore not be problem. So then I wonder what is your exact issue with this expansion?

Ah. So you expect new players to jump straight into JaW. Why would you want them to skip Central Tyria, HoT, PoF, EoD and LW3&4? (I'll not say anything about LW1&2, IBS or SotO, I'll admit those could be up for debate.)

Besides, now that there's no new stat combos, runes or elite specs new players have to put effort in, isn't it easier for them to catch up?

And crafting your first legendary is important for a new player? Lol, what nonsense is that? I didn't craft my first legendary until I was like three years into the game.

I'm in the same boat.

I'm just login in for the dailies and alt parking stuff. I may go out to collect some resources (which I have argued isn't really "gaming"). But that's it. I'm not really engaging with any of the new content unless it's for dailies or weeklies. I don't really care about achievements (it requires to much repetition, and I already have enough of that in real life), and the novelty of spear kind of wore off pretty quick. I like the homestead, but because it is so resource intensive to experiment with it I'm just going to wait till all decorations are out before I keep toying around with it. I like the Elonian aesthetic, but there a like a handful of Elonian decorations atm.

Oh, thanks for the tip. 😉 I was about to recycle the Standing Stones Timepiece without reading it's tooltip text because I already have a legy back item and don't want an exotic one. 🤦‍♂️ But now I'll put it in the bank and then I'll see what nice things I can do with it someday. 😎

BTW: The Tooltip says "Further copies can be purchased in the near future".  So Anet seems to have planned for players to accidentally delete it. Why else would we be able to buy multiple versions of it?
