I really like this event overall, but it was was a painful reminder of how buggy the Elon Riverlands and Desolation meta events are. Everyone yelling at each other in map chat about the best way to get the Doppelganger to play nice since it doesn't want to chase anyone anymore, and I don't even know what's going on with the Maws of Torment realm spiking event. It seems to just get skipped and cause the NPCs to repeat their lines over and over.

Agreed. The Doppleganger one is a weird bug. It never used to have this problem, but at some point it broke and has never been fixed

The Maw of Torment has been much more widely reported. The NPCs can get stuck on escort, but it was discovered that the spiking event can be skipped by skyscale fireballing the portals. Which is great for working around a bug, but an issue if someone has the achievement to do.

But yes, these are long standing ones I'd hoped to see fixes for before the event. I also wanted to see Serpent's Ire in the options as well for those still needing it

The Escort Event has always been buggy. The problem was that it stalled the meta.

But it was only needed for the spikes that destroy the pillar.

However, siege dmg from the turtle and skyscale also work. So people just skip that part.

Which means people who want to do the spike achievement can't do it anymore.

Will this event remain permanently available like other "return to"? For example now I'm playing LW3, and I'm doing a lot of "return to"... Is the same?

The other 'return to' from living world seasons are a series of achievements, all part of 'Seasons of the Dragons' achievement - if you complete all of them, you get a legendary amulet. (and some other goodies along the way)

The current return to path of fire is a temporary event to encourage players to do older expansion content and get some small rewards for it. Temporary events like this are listed under 'Bonus Events' in the achievement list.

Can be a little confusing cause Seasons of the Dragons is listed under Side Stories -> Current Events. Isn't really 'current' anymore, but those 'return to' achievements aren't going away.

So to answer simply no it will only be the stated dates and might return in the future like the fractal rush have done 3 times now.

This is a bonus rush event that lasts till next week. The original "Return to..." achievements are found under the Side Stories category in the list of achievements. You can complete those whenever you want. But the bonus rush event achievements are only for this week (or whatever other weeks they choose to hold it on).

Maybe I can get enough people to finally complete Serpent’s Ire successfully

I remember just before EoD in a day with daily bounties to do there I tagged up and got a bunch of people to drop and do the event, only to see them complain they didn't get the daily done and why was that.

I should have felt bad, but only a little.

You'd think bug fixing the two widely reported issues regarding the content they're about to shove into the spotlight would be, you know, on the priority list.

AND IT'S DONE!!!!!!  I finally finished the Redeeming IG-6417 achievement, which I gave up on many months ago because the stupidly difficult hide-and-seek phase of Serpent's Ire makes you search 25% of the entire zone map to find the Zealots.  Even with a 40 man group we almost didn't get it done in time.

Anet seriously you need to make the Zealots visible immediately on the map and not do this awful hide-and-seek.  The fights are still tough but finding them is just hellish.

Thanks to the player whose character is named Saint for tagging up and getting the meta done!  Thank you!

Just wanted to say that I've really been enjoying this Return To event. With one main account and five alt accounts, I've been spending a lot of time running around getting all the dailies done as well as making sure I grab up some of the specials, like the Demolisher and the Hounds, for each account. It's fun seeing swarms of folks all over the maps and at the events.

Done all needed metas on 4 accounts and no problems.

  • Doppelganger = everyone camping the usual spot in the north, dude comes, dude gets slain. Check.
  • The double dogs = power creep yolo. Check.
  • The other one whose name I already forgot = didn't know I only needed to camp where the end boss spawns, near the wp, to just do him and done... participated in the pres 🤣 Check

What I have to suggest:

  • Most ppl do their 3 events by doing bounties and there are so many different people doing bounties, at the same time, that the bounty boards empty quickly. Maybe, next time, make the bounties respawn faster.
  • And that newer players can also enjoy these events and not get frustrated, you should temporarily unlock all mounts when you run such events. (It's also a mount promo.)
I've seen a lot of ego “commanders” who just do their thing and hope the others can keep up and don't care about the rest of the squad (the ones without premium mounts). Certainly there are some who are real commanders and not me-time-lamps. They do wait, which I thought really newbie friendly. I met really social and friendly guys, which is a plus, but on the other hand I felt sorry for those who were often late (thanks to power creep and lacking mounts).
  • When asked to switch maps - the new map should have bounties and not start with empty boards everywhere.
