  1. They could also just create deadzones for the annoying items in question around the chests/points of interest. My most annoying portal troll was a mesmer in a Drakkar fight that waited in the wrong room and then ported us to the wrong mini boss. That one is a tricky one to patch. Because you want mesmer ports to work, but only to the active mini boss. So blanket restricting them doesn't work.
  2. I'm sorry OP, but I have to respectfully disagree. I almost fall out of my seat laughing every time I see that stuff because they're wearing it to show off, but they look ridiculous. I find the vanity amusing.
  3. If the solo experience is the same difficulty on a per-player basis as raids, it would be fine. I don't expect this to happen though and I'm expecting an army of raider trolls to come and tell you you're stupid and they're the only ones that deserve any kind of reward from the content. I still don't understand why anet is dead-set on their raid designs as-is. There's huge holes in it. Like in any MMO tanking in and of itself is usually anxiety inducing and keeps many people out of that particular raiding experience. Why they chose to add more specialized roles with the same amount of pressure is beyond comprehension. Why there are no proper raid instance locks allowing people to properly progress through the wings on their own time is also baffling. Especially in the context of the specialized collections for the legendaries. I find it hilarious there's a polling thread where a good portion of the people who respond say "raids are fine, there's bosses of many different skill levels" like these stupid collections don't exist. Also, I think the lack of fungible raid sizes hurt too (in addition to them being based around small squads). When i had a static in WoW, I often couldn't make the start time, but they could add me later because of the raid size fungibility. Granted, I don't know how to make this improvement to GW2 raids. With the specialized roles and some of the corporal punishment mechanics, it's easily a liability bringing more people. Compared to other MMOs lack of difficulty diversity is also baffling. Especially given this MMO was designed to be more casual than them. I feel like your solution would be a good middle ground - that way, the solo players still have to show competence but don't have to have KP or other things to just participate in and learn the content. I also don't like the way the tanking role was built in this game. I feel like you're often pressured into wearing as much DPS gear as you can, but at the same time it's a liability. Also the focus on active mitigation in addition to dodging also feels off. I feel like a good group won't care if you choose to be more durable, but it's still annoying that expectation can come.
  4. It's probably just due to what people learned the encounters on. Chrono used to be the go-to tank with iframes (riposte, blur and shield block) + quick & alac. I know the posts I've seen for chrono tanks when I poke around on NA RA seem to be rarer. in fact druid tank is becoming a thing over it in certain encounters, because as you state, it's not healing, it's crap DPS because it's risky using diviner's over other stats. Also, I haven't had the cash/time to gear up an HFB tank, so I'll probably pass on it. Sometimes you have to take what's there in terms of group composition and if I'm raiding and we need a tank, that's all I have and I know the rotation. But I'm absolutely overjoyed MightyTeapot made that vid. Because I feel like people only care if purple is "balanced" and nothing else XD (I still consider rev OP as well). I don't think the chrono nerfs were unwarranted (it was highest power DPS), but felt like they didn't poke the heart of the issues at all and it punished solo power dps chronos pugging even more. Not to mention making timewarp and DT practically useless in any other situation outside of raiding. I actually am starting to hate my mes more and more over time because I keep feeling like it's being made ineffectual in other game modes being hyper-balanced around raids. Clone mechanics are wonky enough in other game modes where there's heavy AOE, it's even worse getting elite skills nerfed to nothing. While I've seen vids of purple doing "amazing things" outside of staff/staff, most of the time you can find a vid of warrior/rev/guard doing it WAY better. Cairn soloing being an easy example that comes to mind (as well as pet fractal boss soloing). I'm also fully expecting Staff/staff to be nerfed to the same point because of the community.
  5. It could be valuable in 2 ways: 1) You can skip the meta achieve for the neck. 2) It gives you an alternative appearance/option for the slot (not really worth 77 clovers IMO, but still good). I think I'm still going to complete mine just because I was never going to upgrade to the visual version, so then I'll have a "quiet" neck and a "loud" neck depending on what I want in the slot. Also if you've been working on ascension in tandem, you kind of get it for free along the way. That's actually how I got mine. But if you haven't been, I'm really sorry. Ascension achieves are level gated, meaning if you didn't finish the previous level's reqs, additional victories don't go towards the next levels' (I would have been done much sooner if this was the case.).
  6. I'm not a necro main by any means, but this is pure BS. Each elite spec should have its place in every game mode and quite frankly I'm sick of anet nerfing anything they deem a threat into the ground and moving on. I'm looking at you infinite horizon and mirage cloak. What they did to mesmer in PVP was garbage. And annoying given some classes still have ALL their cheese. The devs play favorites. I want to see less bias and more balance. The goal of these balance patches should also be to open new capabilities to underrepresented specs across all game modes. And that includes reaper. the excuse shouldn't be "cuz core, you're fine" I paid for PoF. Thank you very much!
  7. There's a video of a meme necro clear where it's all necros on Dhuum and VG. I think it's a German guild that does it. It just shows how fungible raids really are, even though the community as a whole gravitates towards a particular meta. Is it possible? Maybe. The hardest part is probably finding 9 other willing people who will tinker with you. Is it worth it? Maybe not. That said, the memers could have been using the appropriate raw stats (they had reapers, I imagine running full zerkers). Enrage timers are a thing and there's very few builds that scale well off of condi and power. I've been experimenting on a greiving set for reaper using bleed and chill. While i can get tons of bleed, it just doesn't mean much because there's just not enough traits that overlap between the two damage types. Same goes for runes and sigils.
  8. So what you're saying is that they nerfed ele's damage to be in line with everyone else but didn't adjust its HP to compensate. Typical mage balancing in any MMO. Destroy all the reward of being a glass cannon and make it glass. All risk, no reward. All worship the heavy armor classes! I completely agree with this sentiment. If nerfs come because people whine about edge cases/particular encounters, then remove the flavor and make everything same. Though certain bosses may need HP pools nerfed to compensate if their initial balancing is around broken Confusion DPS scaling. I think Largos was 100% intended to be a confusion focused boss.
  9. Guardian has been a dev favorite for a while. We literally had to beg them to put it more in line with the rest of the other classes on the last balance patch. That aside, in the current metas, guardian is definitely stronger. In theory. The rotation on power reaper is so simplistic that it actually tends to beat other DPS classes in groups where the other DPS aren't very good. Scourge is a very powerful healer, it lacks offensive boons and offensive buffs which tend to put it lower on the healer rungs of the ladder, but can hard carry almost on some encounters. heal tempest running water and earth is similar, but HS I would argue is stronger. Also note that necro's DPS options, condi scourge and power reaper tend to do terrible on any encounter with a ton movement (largos being a primary example). TLDR: if you intend to do high-end PVE and actually learn your class, go guard. Necro is basically open-world godmode. Though, I'd put in a plug for working on both a little if you can manage it: they're both getting a new elite spec in EoD that could change things a bit. Any gear progression in this game is permanent, so it wouldn't hurt to play around with both if you have the time.
  10. My favorite fashion wars are people that stack ridiculously expensive infusions but it obviously looks like garbage. Like any sane person who didn't know what those infusions were worth would literally ask themselves "Wtf is wrong with this person"?
  11. Sure, but what might make more sense is them pegging it against trophies/blood/bones and having them drop from the same sources, but at a REALLY low drop rate to keep the ratios for legendaries equal. A major issue with drizzlewood is that it deflated the value of everything else needed for a legendary, so it increased the value my MCs by a ton. if they added low MC drop rates (as it takes 1000s of the different components to make a tribute) to even things out, the economy would be fine. It would balance things.
  12. I'm not referring to you. I'm saying the AFKers aren't really even being that smart. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.
  13. As I added to my edit, the clovers are more of an issue than MCs. If I was smart with my MCs they wouldn't be the limiting factor, even just doing what you do. I guess they help with the clovers too. I hope they do incraese it. I'll start feeling the pinch in a few months. I'm changing my mind. T4s aren't that bad from what I've heard. You just have to be somewhat picky about making it clear you don't care about hyper-optimized groups to avoid toxicity. I haven't gotten in to them yet, but I'm almost there. I was doing fractals once a week on the highest setting I could for about 6-8 mos to get there. And the conversions are getting worse over time because of LA, but there's always the BLT and gold.
  14. Probably not going to happen. If you go hard on coins, you can get up to 3+/day. If you do fractal CMs, it's 2/day. If you ley line (which is really easy and popular now) i'ts another 1/day. T4 fractal dailies are probably an aggregate average of .5/day as they reward the lower level chests with lower but still significant chances as well Then if you include daily login, you're looking at ~.75/day. Also, some festivals give them, during SAB though, it was better to trade for the amalgamated draconic lodestone, sell it, then turn around and buy coins with the profit. And there's occaisional daily mystic forger as well. Just ley line and login is almost 2/day. If you invest in fractals, you can get TONs. You can earn additional clovers doing the one-time (non-repeatable) tracks in PVP and WvW. They almost always give around 7/track. Which is pretty good considering the daily login reward is 7 in one month. Then, there's always drizzlewood for clovers, so you really shouldn't need MCs for the clovers so much if you're diverse in your game modes. I get the time gating is annoying, but if they didn't gate it at all, I'm pretty sure this game would become desolate. I'll say it like this: if I didn't spend my MCs on frivolous things, I'd have way more than I need against the clovers I have for a gen2/trinket, just doing ley line daily and logging in. That doesn't mean that extra MCs couldn't help legendary progression, but just note that earning clovers is generally harder/more time gated.
  15. They're adding a new one. I'm not salty at all as I earned the PVP reqs doing legendary back. >.> <.<
  16. It's potentially pay to progress, but I have to put a huge star next to that saying it's no where near the grind of other games if you're just looking at raw character power. Just do some festivals and turn profits, heck do ley line 5 minutes a day, sell the coin, level your professions and then craft that perfect ascended set & level cooking. If you don't have the living world seasons, you're looking at PVP, WvW and/or fractals for selectable stat trinkets. That's a little annoying but still doable. Additionally, Anet showers people in free perks all the time. They're giving out living world seasons, which they normally sell once they're over, for free, for the second time since I came back in Spring of 2019. When they added templates, they gave everyone an additional gear template at no cost, essentially giving everyone the ability to gear up their characters for two different roles at once, and you still get 2 templates on every new character slot. How many companies do you know that are this generous with their players, that whenever they add a feature in the cash shop, they also give it out for free? Or like when they decided to bundle HoT with PoF, they game me a free cosmetic as a thank-you for buying the previous expansion. I would say Anet isn't greedy at all, maybe to a fault, but I don't want them to change anything. I just want players to be more generous and realize what they have. With gem to gold conversions you can accelerate legendary acquisition processes, but even then, it's only really weapons. Remember legendaries are equal in power to ascended gear, and are a combination of convenience/cosmetic/build tinkering tool (this ability does confer minor advantages in some game modes, but it's far from a determining factor). Trinkets and armor all take achieves from various game modes or game mode specific currency that can't be bought with gold. Even some Gen2 weapons need achieves (and heck, doing Gen2 requires masteries and you can't purchase core tyria with gold either). The only asterisk here is raids, but even clears aren't sold through normal means. You have to do deals with people based on trust, the game doesn't naturally support trading them or the items acquired through them, you have to pay for carries. I wouldn't shell out until after each kill. And purchasing legendaries in this way is thousands of dollars, but I assure you people using raw cash to do this, is probably extremely rare. And they're not getting over the top power you'd see in other games for the same price. I do spend money in the gem store and on convenience items, but anet did a good job of making me believe I was doing it because I enjoy the game, not because I had to buy them to enjoy the game. I don't consider elite specs pay to win as the game has always been a buy to play model, I kind of see F2P PVP players whining about that not really grasping the business model of the game. PVE players are locked out of more recent zones and all the goodies they have. The F2P is supposed to lure you to buy the game in its entirety, and compared to other games, what you get with that one-time purchase, is freaking amazing.
  17. I guess it's about what you want. The stream I viewed showed more thank 400k VM from an AFK farm. The Volcanic SC weapons aren't a big deal if you max the mastery (which you need to do for the infusion as well.) You can get them far cheaper from a weekly vendor.
  18. Given my rng with infusions, the gold feels like it'd be more deterministic, but okay.
  19. As far as farming goes, DS isn't that effective I believe. One may be better off farming the gold and purchasing off of BLT with that low drop rate than AFK griefing others. Hell There's some afk farming tactics that prominent streamers have been posting. Just do that and buy it. Not that I really appreciate AFKers of any sort (you know, borking the economy for legitimate players), but if you're gonna AFK, at least don't be a jerk about it.
  20. If I was a hacker, it'd be really easy to mess up arcdps. They keep their md5 hashes on the same server as the binary. So if you get access to the binary, then you probably have access to the md5 hash. I don't know why they don't have it on a separate github page or something. Comparing the hash of the binary to the file provided would only be effective against the most ditzy of hackers. Combat in this game takes a lot of skill to be effective. Most players aren't even anywhere close to the top. DPS meters allow you to measure your performance if you want to get better. The combat log doesn't give good DPS information, just overall damage. If it spewed personal DPS, that'd be great. Then there's obviously those people who use it to judge other people and not work with them. If you truly want to push your DPS and/or measure it, then I'd say you should use it.
  21. Kas would buff the escort with a fairly long swiftness buff, but because of the new boon cap, it wears off sooner. Also, the boon priority on the escort is low, so it makes it even more difficult to appropriately boon the escort if your team mates are nearby. Or, alternatively, the timer could be made longer to compensate. It's actually really weird to me that the timer is testing your party's swiftness/superspeed on the escort as much, if not more than its coordination on the final boss XD. It would also be helpful if you guys would downscale it if someone drops party/goes offline. Literally just had some troll accept the party instance and then drop out almost immediately as soon as pre event finished.
  22. Given this is Anet and GW2, I'd assume it's all added in addition to what's there. It's rare that anything at all is pulled from the game. That's supposed to be the super casual nature of it.
  23. there are classes with strong condition control. scourge and scrapper being two. Have you been running squads with either of these as healers?
  24. They've already got some tools they use. One, was they consolidated LW dailies and that helped the zones immensely (PoF ones for sure). They already do boss rush events from time to time as well. I think the best thing to do is suggest further improvements and what you think would help if you're still having issues. I mean I haven't done the PoF ones recently, but is getting groups for it that bad when it's the daily? You're complaining about it, but I've never had an issue when it's been the daily.
