  1. Long story short, just after the patch today, my skyscale becomes a reliable way to commit suicide. If you swoop down towards a target , with just abit of elevation left (that normally wont damage you at all), and use skyscale attack , you will die instantly from fall damage after dismounting. I have had skyscale for years, I can safely say I knew this shouldn't be happening. I have same habits with it for years, and just tnight this fatal thing keep occurring. I don't know about other people but i can fairly replicate this phenomenon quite consistently. Anyone else got this issue? Edit: nvm, it's a reported bug. They are looking into it.
  2. Pug = you probly will waste 2 hours of your life. If you lucky to land in maps organized by the hardcores, yeh i wouldn't be surprised if you win it by a few mins. Nothing have changed. This thing isn't for everyone a. You gotta be lucky being at the right place at the right time. That's pretty much the summary of reality. I got my win and never come back. I can be more profitable else where with those 2 hours.
  3. It's actually rather easy to get gift of battle. Yes, it can be annoying that it cannot be obtained like quick quick quick. but doable in a day or two. In fact I got a stack of 25...... and others known to got a full stack over the years. If you not into spending alot of time in wvw, just do their quick daily and get the pots. That will help towards the gift
  4. It amuses me abit when people rely solely on dps on golem to judge a class's combat performance. Unless you are fighting a prop boss, these values mean so little in the face of the so many factors of real combat. Power WB can put out some number of dump golems, but hard to land those hits on things that..... you know... move, or better yet things that fight back with blind, cc, snaring condis, like a player that play both hands. So, yeh, power WB is abit rough right now, you gotta work extra hard to get the numbers of other classes that can simply hit 1 1 1 1 2 that i could name.
  5. i was in luck to be in a group that narrowed beated the meta with less than 20 seconds remain. Nerve-cracking. Never come back again. Have to do the god---ned jade event at 2-hour timer for turtle collection doe. Zzz Btw, if you have been having nightmare seeing that meta platform, just wait till you do the harvest strike mission.
  6. The progress bar decline speed should be reduced by about 50%, and same for the speed of the green dots. There's no point if the green dots move twice as fast .
  7. To OP: Don't put words in other people's mouths. yes there are people who does it just for the mount, but please don't speak for the entire base. Quite the audacity . I did not authorize you to represent me and assume what I or other people think. Talking about creating a fake strawman to beat up and being self-righteous about it. Shut up and stand in the corner and reflect. People do this meta for a sense of completion and a good daily pass time like DS for example. This meta is put in a wrong place, and people are not happy. Simple as that.
  8. Couldn't have said it better myself. Anet's silence is the daunting uncontestable admission of guilt.
  9. Anet is too naive and idealistic in what they expect from the players base. They think everyone will do their part, there isnt' a single bad apple but there's always a bad apple, either a slacker/afker or griefer. They think everyone will learn and "git good", but there is such a thing as people who never learn, otherwise pvp would be full of scary skilled people running around now, but that's not the reality. And this event is the sort of event that one mistake is way too many to win. They are decade in this business, and still make the basic mistake in mmo design.
  10. A good meta is one that is inclusive to all sorts players, winnable with any build while sufficiently challenging. This meta needs no introduction so I skip the description. Anet broke their long silence with the blogpost to justify the meta saying that this is the conclusion of the years long dragon saga, thus they wanted to create something challenging impactful like never before. The definition of that is huge RNG fest with tons of logistical factors that are beyond any active participant's control : boss attack RNG, afk, fishing people, griefers, hardware performance of other players. Sure you can get punished for making an error, and thus come back stronger. But no, you come back with a different set of people with different set of factors. And I don't get how the entire map is punished if just one person makes a mistake either out of honest ignorance or trolling intention. It's absolute winnable BUT ONLY if luck has it that you happen to be in rare goodmap at right place and time with the more competent folks with good sense of work ethics, then pray to god there is no griefer and boss RNG god blesses you. My guess is the company want to show the world how tough they are as devs, but this is a misguided philosophy and the consequence is a launch that should have been an exciting time but ended to be a week of frustration. From their blogpost, looks like they are more interested in self-justification rather than observing self's mistake. It's just not encouraging.
  11. it's not "progressively doable" if you slaps a giant RNG on boss that can spell doom to an adequately competent map..
  12. So i got to test my guardian as WB in contents across pve, wvw, and spvp. And here are stuff that I think could be used for improvement, because ..as you probably noticed how competent we are. F1 Rushing Justice - Abit clunky, as the WB completely comes to a stop at the end of the dash to make an uppercut with quite abit of cast time. I would say tune down this cast time would help. The cone is too narrow, too easy to miss target. If these 3 lines instead form a spiral with the WB as center, I think it makes a decent AOE instead. F2 Flowing Resolve - The dash feels abit... underwhelming. Make it a 600 range instead of 450 imo. F3 Crashing Courage - I feel it's at a good spot, though the cast time feels a tad bit long for my taste. Knocking down 1/4 second off the casting time would be great service. Sword - 4 Executioner's Calling - Damage feels abit underwhelming, could use abit buff in this regard. This skill suffers 2 casting times, one for initial strike and one for the double strike. Therefore It feels very clunky and makes the WB very susceptible to cc. Increase the attack speed abit I'd say. Reversal of Fortune - Just bad. With the Herald's Glint healing in mind (comes with intial heals and infinite attack negations and healing), this skill is terrible - only block once per cast, and putting the WB in an inaction state and the heal is very bad. There's no way this is a competition for shelter. At least let the WB get like 3k base heal upfront, and let the WB free to do any actions during the block period. A successful block should heal for another equal amount and remove a condi. Whirling Light - Bugged. Doesnt attack all 5 targets in range. Target seems to need to be in some weird cone. Damage is underwhelming, could use an increase and put a 0.5 second dodge frame please. There's no way this skill can compete with signet or meditation for a slot as is. Flash Combo - Not sure what is really the goal for this skill. The damage is trivial. And it seems to be a cheap imitation of thief's sword skill . I would say add fury/resolution and up the damage or something. Heaven's Palm - inadequate as an elite in terms of effect, casting time and recharge (bane signet, warrior stomp are just better as a regular utility). Recharge should be in line with Feel My Wrath (around 30s), cast time at 1s instead, and throw in 5 stack of might or something like vulnerability or weakness please. Instead of knockback on surround enemy, just knocking down is much helpful. Major Adept - Power for Power - Instead of WB flame dealing increased damage, I'd trade for 20% CDR on physical skills. Minor Master - Righteous Sprint - Should also add while swiftness is active, take 5% less damage from foes in melee range. Because we just don't have that great of a HP pool. Holy Reckoning - one stack of might on activating a virtue is very underwhelming. Should throw in removing a damaging condition on virtue activation on a internal CD of 5 second or something. Major Grandmaster - Deathless Courage - too niche to be used in general game play or even pvp, correct me if i'm wrong. GW2 isn't like diablo 3 where you constantly obliterate mobs in matters of seconds to make some mileage of this skill. Courage already makes you tanky for the duration, you don't need this effect for the most part. I'd recommend to scrap this trait and make something like, while WB flame is active, you deals extra damage and receive reduced damage from strike and condi by X %. Well, finally got this off my chest, not that I think it will be listened.
  13. yeh, open world content shouldn't get to the discord level. This is not fun. Anet would rather uphold their dense "standard" of difficulty at the expense of people's personal time. If this were a college classroom, Anet'd be the kind of teacher that'd fail you for getting ONLY 9 out of 10 questions right. Whatever pride or veritas they are pursuing as devs, it's at our expense. Even if this fight were to add another 3 mins on it, it'd still be extremely challenging and razor thin margin for most pugs, which is open map pretty much. I'm just gona boycott this meta for now. It's mentally exhausting.
  14. Yeh same, was in an extremely good group. People good at staying alive and coordinated. But failed when the last 1% refused to go down no matter how we tried. I will have to boycott this event till they fix it. I will also encourage others to as well. We wont die without turtle. We can in the mean time to gather mats and stuff for legs. It's incredibly messed up on Anet's part to toy with people's time. People already discussed open map content vs. raid level content, i won't repeat it here.
  15. Some people have a job you know. You might be step it up on that regard too so you can understand the other side a little. What kind of events that everyone have to cheese wipe to win? Some elitists among the devs also that need to be called out. This is an open map event, for god's sake. Set your expectation right.
  16. Positive: maps and music are beautiful. The artists put alot of work in this. But please tone down with the colors. My asian landscapes don't always look like cesspool of pink and green. Negative: Everything else. Notably: They completely ignored all beta 2 feedback, did very minimal changes thus leaving alot of elite specs in some weird limbo. They actually didn't post the note about the changes, likely in fear of backlash, I'm guessing. Maps are largely empty, but might get better towards the weekend. Metas are super bugged, and/or unreasonably overtuned. These things really marred the launch significantly. While I agree that it's unreasonable to expect perfection at launch. But the level of flaws and mostly importantly their lack of communications are frustrating. Story seems rushed, one-dimentional. Voice actings are cringy, especially that of Aurene. Whoever voiced her went overboard with dramatic vibe. She's just unbearable during final map meta
  17. Condi guard, regardless of spec, would do very well in pve. Even core guard with one blank trait line. So I'm not surprised that you find condi WB being decent at killing things. Nothing beats burn core guard in high sustain burn over time. He does very consistent insane ticks of burning. WB does better in burst burn and count on that window of 6 second to bust out all the condi triggers, but then it tappers off until the next uptime. It's still weaker than core, but very reasonable in pve still, while having higher mobility. But in pve, unless you do raid or something, mobility isnt exactly a high priority, whereas dps is always more desirable in all pve contents. In the end, core comes out on top imo as far as efficiency. If jumping around makes it more exciting, i don't blame you for picking WB for this job.
  18. Mind-shattering challenges with near zero error margin can be fun but should never be in open-world events, where we will get a mixed bag of skilled and less skilled players and each with different level of resource (time, hardware, voice chat availability). These variables are enough to ruin the result of this event as it is. In raid setting, it's much easy to manage just less than a dozen of people, and those who join raids probably will have time commitment and of reasonably skilled, and yet those can still fail left alone in public setting. Frustration will feed the cycle of failure because of it gradually kills attendance. And let's not forget the game-aging factor. Let's face it, this game is about 10 years old and less and less people will play over time. It's a gradual dying process. Can you expect to play this event, if left unchanged, at all in a few years when it rarely succeeds even now?
  19. oh here we go, some elitist bs. We failed 8 times with quite well-coordinated groups and everyone tried their hardest. If you want super challenging stuff, go raid. It's unreasonable to expect people to get perfect groups at anytime they log in in context of open world. You bound to have lower skilled players and/or hardware variables and that's already enough to fail to this event which has zero margin of error. Congrats if you happened to be one of the rare occasions that actually got through, it does take alot of luck to be at the right place, right time and right people. But I feel this thread's true intention is to protect his status as one of the few that won the meta rather than for the sake of the game. Talking about burning bridges after crossing it. I saw right through you , man. Devs, please nerf this event to whatever reasonable extend you see fit. It's obviously overtuned.
  20. I'm actually starting to warm up to the "willbender", cough...cough.. Gosh... i get weird reaction whenever I say that word, not as bad as in case of the virtuoso peeps doe . Playing with the WB is like playing the regular content in hard mode due its bad damage and non-existence sustains. I felt like it does help me to react to things more efficiently, managing movements more deftly even against against trash mobs. Things that are normally dull suddenly becomes much more challenging and exciting. So it's actually not all bad. If we are dealt a bad hand, might as well find way to enjoy it. It's a training for me. You might just emerge as a super skilled players after playing the WB for a month.
  21. I think other factors are in play as well. This launch has been marred by specialization balancing issues (or rather the lack thereof) and affected the morale. They called up on us to join betas and what not, then went on launch keeping the same beta designs with minimal changes despite months of concerns being voiced by the players regarding the lackluster specializations. Not only that, they didn't even post any note regarding said changes, possibly out of concern that people being outraged of their insistence of keeping beta designs. Now let say they needed more time to look at the skills and things, they could have simply post the current change note and mention more changes coming in a month or so. No, no words at all. The communication strategy is just not there. Now they mentioned a "big balance change " in the summer. Great, we have to play with broken toys for almost half a year. No wonder the maps are empty.
  22. May I suggest you trying the "willbender" for more very challenging fights against regular mobs.
  23. Yeh, I'm extremely pleased and impressed that there are little to no fix/balance to all specializations from beta. It's usually very difficult to make every specializations so perfect that no need for changes right from the start, and they pulled it off. Very very impressive.
  24. Yo , they ignored ALOT of things. most specializations underwent very little to no change. Notably the WB. It was quite suspicious there was no patch note pertaining the specialization change. We just have to stick with broken toys for a long while before being graced with the next balance.
  25. a major disappointment . All specializations went through little to no change. I wonder what beta 2 was even for. I rate this launch a F ...minus. Well the music was good. So I'll remove the minus.
