  2. It has sword 3, which is pretty good. But other than that its not so good looking.
  3. 10k crits are possible on glassy targets when all the stars align. 6k crits are a lot more common. Thats not a lot for the kind of investment you do on a spec that brings nothing else to the table.
  4. There are a lot of Core and Chronomancer builds that could be good for WvW roaming (Mesmer good, not generally good) but are limited by their lack of mobility. I guess in sPvP the current Sword 3 teleport is superior because of the tiny maps with high frequency terrain. In WvW you have to cross the Great Plains while chasing or being chased by all the hordes of Mordor.
  5. At least for Mesmer that is just not true. It got nerfed constantly because of raids. Especially Chronomancer.
  6. Basically yes, except the real main purpose of clones is to serve as shatter ammunition. And if you are on Mirage and if you have the Infinite Horizon trait they can some damage/utility on ambush attacks.

  11. I really dont understand why anything in this game is balanced around how fast 10 people can whack down a scripted target.
  12. I have a question about the Chronomancer trait Improved Alacrity. Maybe I don't really understand the description, but if I read it literally it makes alacrity worse? So normal alacrity increases your recharge speed by 25%. That means 1 second of alacrity you get recharges your abilities by 1.25 seconds. Now of you take Improved Alacrity 1 second of alacrity you get will get reduced to about 0.67 seconds, but the recharge rate is increased to 50%. 1 * 0.67 * 1.5 = 1.005 seconds. So 1 second of alacrity you get will result in 1.005 seconds of skill recharge? This is worse than plain alacrity? The only time this would be better is if you have permanent alacrity?
  13. I know it doesn't work 100% reliably, but neither does the current Sword 3. It fails a lot too. At least that way Core and Chrono could have a bit more potential in WvW roaming and small scale. And even 1 dodge Mirage could get a bit of its mobility back that it lost. Just imagine how fun Mesmer could be in that game mode. 😍
  14. The only downside I see is the loss of immobilize but with the general lack of mobility Mesmer has (except Mirage) this would be a very welcome change. It hasn't bugged out for me yet, at least no more than any teleport ability.

  16. This is like a core Mesmer except worse. It has no mobility, swiftness, nothing. It has no teleports, no reflects, its only defensive abilities are channels, its attacks are slow, do little damage and are projectiles. Yet it has no trait that interacts with projectiles. And stuff is buggy, which I can somewhat excuse because beta.
  17. The traits and F-skills are an insult. The dagger skills are... okay-ish in some PvE content. The immobilize utility is interesting, but that's about it. At least for my playstyle this spec offers too little, especially compared to Harbinger/Willbender or whatever they are called.
  18. I would say it's a pure PvE spec, but then the PvE people are telling me it's not that either. I'm not impressed with it, we will see what is salvageable.

  20. Perhaps the biggest boost to Mesmer strength in WvW wasn't the staff change, it was the removal of retaliation. Think about that. ^ . ^

  23. I think the argument is in part between people who play mainly raids on one side and people who play mainly PvP/WvW on the other side. I can understand the different perspectives to a degree. If you are a raid player then the last 4 years or so have been pretty nice for Mesmer. Of course there was some back and forth, but especially Chronomancer and sometimes Mirage always had their place and were doing well. Chronomancer in particular was best in slot in many cases, with top dps. And now Mirage does both a ton of dps and perma alacrity support. So the raid player sips their tea calmly, looks at the current Mirage numbers and thinks "yeah, this needs a few adjustments." And it's so obvious, why would anyone disagree? If you are a PvP/WvW player on the other hand you may have a different opinion. You have experienced pain. The past (almost) 3 years you have been gutted. Stripped naked, skinned and your flesh carved away by Arenanet. Slowly and methodically. Almost every single ability that you used in your builds has been nerfed. Weapon skills, utility skills, traits, whenever something worked --not overpowered, just worked-- it got destroyed. Now there have been builds that were op. Namely the original Condi-Mirage. But instead of addressing the problems specific to that Arenanet nerfed everything else. Core builds, Chrono builds, Power-Mirage builds. Meanwhile Condi-Mirage remained relatively strong. And often nerfs from PvE got carried over into PvP/WvW. Things got nerfed because they were good against one specific mob in one specific raid wing. And now, after 3 years of pain and struggle, Mesmer has one build that is almost kind of semi-op (can still be beat by Thief, Revenant and Guardian). And people get a tiny little bit defensive.
  24. Number 3 affects all clones that spawn from non-targeted traits and abilities, such as Deceptive Evasion and Signet of Illusions. I believe they will always target the next closest attackable entity.
