Player B can easily play the game and exchange gold for gems and purchase chapters as they move along. At 250Gems per chapter, they're not all that difficult to acquire. They don't have to buy anything with cash. As was mentioned before, there is no need to have all of the LS chapters unlocked from the very beginning, but you don't seem to want to accept that point. It is the business model that Anet has chosen. Someone already mentioned this before. Since it is not a subscription based game, one needs to pay for content. Access isn't being denied to anyone. How is this any different than having to purchase DLC from a sub-based game? No, it's not a huge issue for me at all. Asking Anet to provide free content that players like me have paid for over 8+ years seems a tad much, if only to cater to new players and some perceived inability to play out the story in order (which I still don't understand that complaint). How do you propose to make the game more friendly to new players in this regard while keeping the company going financially?

Or pretend that it is a monthly subscription for you, like other MMOs. Pay $15-$20/month and buy gems. Then use gems to buy chapters. Simple, really.

Both the tonics and mounting are technically transformations. Not sure why they can't be auto-applied, though? Still, mechanically they are both different than ranger pet merge, which iirc is not a transformation.

No, your statement is inaccurate. Logging in to the game, selecting a character and then doing nothing is still 100% controlling the character. You, as a player, are choosing to do nothing. The game doesn't then start moving your character around or using skills.

Play the game. Convert gold to gems. You can buy 5 for 150 gems. That's pretty cheap. You can also exchange BLC statuettes for them. If you are changing your style on one character 12 times a month, perhaps you might reduce that?
