  1. I don't know why anet are changing existing content to the point they are no longer fun or relevant anymore. Each time they bring out new system/currency related to new content they nerf other aspects of the game that people have been enjoying for years and would still continue to do today if no to little changes were made. Events and systems were entertaining and fun due to some of the loot you received, now they just seem like a waste of time and effort.
  2. I actually enjoyed the new expansion myself, much more than EoD anyway. I don't know what gw2 will bring in the future but some current and past changes within the game have affected my enjoyment of the game and I worry for the future of progression. I know these changes don't affect everyone but I can see it has affected certain groups of people. Of course games are always subject to change but I think that the rate of which these changes is what's deterring some of the playerbase. I think that for me personally I miss aspects of the from the game that I first enjoyed (e.g class unique buffs). I won't argue that the game doesn't need to change and adapt to keep itself relevant but I'm not convinced all the changes thus far have been the best. Even if I am to move on I wish the game the best of luck.
  3. Gw2 has always been known for this casual nature but I feel one of the main problem that has affected certain parts of the game is the change in attitudes towards them both by anet and the playerbase. Before the was a clear definition between "easy" casual content and "more challenging" casual content, as in the casual aspect of the game was that you picked what content you wanted to do based on enjoyment, your personal skill level and drive. Like certain qol items in game were, and still aren't, required to play the game (legendaries being the most obvious example) and for those who wanted said items it was a case that more effort was required in order to obtain this reward. It was a long term goal to work towards. Now it has been suggested and somewhat encouraged that everyone have access to this content, features or items for little to not effort which has enforced attitudes of entitlement and instant gratification. For some this is considered a good thing as aspects of the game that they wish to obtain from seeing other players who already have access to are now easier to reach. However this means that those who have worked on and enjoyed these aspects of the game no longer see it as challenging, fun or worth their efforts which is why such people then find themselves "burnt out" or trying to find a similar experience in other games. The more they cater to a certain group of the playerbase the more likely that the other group are gonna jump ship. Its unclear in the long term how the current direction anet are taking the game is going to affect the playerbase but I have found that a lot of my friends and I disheartened by certain changes in the game so far. Tldr: the game isn't what it used to be and some of those who enjoyed how gw2 was when they started playing are starting to feel the affects of the changes in the game's direction in the last few years.
  4. One of the things that stands out to me here is that the commander had to ask your role rather than you stating it when you joined. Understandable that there was only 1 person in squad at time of joining but you should still state you role. Also he did advertise for supports first so you should at least ask if it's ok to join as dps. Already this leaves an unsavoury impression of you. Secondly the you doing less dps than supports thing. Ideally as a dps you do want to be doing more than the supports. Granted there are some supports that can do insane damage alongside grant support but being able to do your part as a dps to do enough damage so things go smoothly is expected. I don't know the set up of the squad you joined so it's hard to say if this was indeed the case but your attitude of "my dps is fine" suggests that either you don't care about your contribution or have possibly been carried through content before. These points doesn't mean that the commander wasn't rude to you but I don't think you realise that your actions can be considered rude or/and griefing others.
  5. Sorry to hear this has affected your gameplay. Though it may be difficult you might have to change/adapt your playstyle in order to continue to play the game but this sort of thing has been a constant issue for many players whenever they make changes in game. Consider they did not add it to the list of current relics it's either that they don't plan to bring it back at all, it requires crafting with special materials and/or methods, or it will be added later on (maybe weeks, maybe months, maybe even years). Your complaints and demands via the forums may not be fruitful in getting the companion back so my suggestion would be to look up builds and/or other classes that help with survival. I know this may not be ideal but it's better than struggling.
  6. There is already aurene, branded, fire and ice based skyscales (maybe more but I can't be bothered to look through all). Also tequatl is not a dragon boss, he is a dragon champion/minion. Though anet might consider having undead themed mounts. It's unlikely they will make exact copies of dragons as skyscale skins as they are all shaped differently to the skyscale model.
  7. Its more common for people to write a bad review about something than a good review. It's not a case everyone hates everything but more that they are the people that shout the loudest.
  8. These changes are part of the game and in the T&Cs so only two options is to adapt/get new build(s) or ultimately just not play anymore. Something may get changed/reverted depending on how it performs but that could be months or even years. It's not uncommon for builds to be ruined or destroyed with balance changes, its best to try not to get too upset and move along.
  9. I don't think the game is anymore toxic just that things are more "broadcasted" these days. Forums becoming more active with people complaining about aspects of the game for example. Some of these are legit complaints/suggestions but usually people kick off at any form of disagreement or when people point out flaws/why something won't work etc. People sometimes forget that forums are there for discussion so chances are there will be conflicting views but for whatever reason people get instantly defensive and insult one another.
  10. Yes but there's no denying that it takes time and money to make these things. Plus they said to add new races etc which would probably require more work as they have to get voice actors, create new story lines etc. Anet see more worth in creating new content rather than remaking old content. It took them a long time just to implement season 1 back into the game.
  11. Reason why leveling is fast and easy at first in this game is that the game doesn't really start to progress into the harder content until you hit level 80 and advance to other expansions. If you enjoy open world aspect then you are likely to enjoy that in the expansions as well. Your progression doesn't stop with just hitting level 80, there's masteries, new maps, events, metas etc to experience from there. You're currently experiencing the old school base game which in current times is just a taster/tutorial for new players. I get you might not be interested in other aspects of endgame content but doesn't mean that the aspects you currently enjoy aren't implemented beyond core.
  12. Considering it took 6 years to make gw2 and is said to have cost millions of $ you sure about that? (I can't find an confirmed figure)
  13. Map zones aren't restricted to your level, even if you are underleveled for that zone. You only get capped if you are above said map level. Also core open world is dated due to power scaling from elites, balance changes, new gear stats etc. The more challenging content does come from the expansions as it takes these aspects into account amoung other things such as new combat mechanics etc (which since in game progress is directed by story most players would do core then naturally move onto more challenging and new content as they go). There are ways to challenge yourself but you then seem very reluctant to these suggestions. For what you want it would be down to anet to determine if its worth the time and resources which would seem unlikely to be the case 🤷‍♂️
  14. Also have to consider how many people would be willing to take on this role. I have seen mentor tags advertise on map chat to whisper them to ask questions etc but this is rarely seen. And mentor tags have proven to be useful as "becons" for events, jumping puzzles etc. To actually mentor someone takes a lot of time and effort which most of the player base either want to do or can't. Guilds, forums, guides and even people in map chat have proven to be best source of help in the game it's mostly about knowing where to find information/ask that can be an issue.
  15. I'm all for there being an "easy option" to getting the skyscale, especially if the new expansion makes it nessary to have one. The only thing that concerns me is if the skyscale feels like its being giving free off the bat. Like I want something to work towards, I want the sense of achievement regardless of how small. A lot of aspects of the game resolve around the idea of working towards something, the greater the prize the more work (makes sense right?). I keep seeing people who moan about having to do x in order to achieve y, basically entitlement and wanting instant gratification. I found skyscale collection to be tiring and confusing a lot of the time, but I wanted that skyscale so I worked for it. I do feel sorry for those who feel like their work has been for nothing with the new eaiser method to obtain skyscale, I don't agree with saying their feelings are invalid, I hope anet have come up with a good way of easing the blow to these people as much as they have catered to the people who didn't want to do the original collection but wanted skyscale.
  16. You make some good points here. Think the Rift between those who are considered "newbies" and those who are considered "elitists" has grown the last year or so. The game itself can be a bit lacking with teaching people how to do things or how to be more efficient, but I find players can be very helpful with giving people information or at least pointing them on the right direction (guilds, forums, video guides & websites). However there are a few that adopt the attitude of "why should I be forced to do x to achieve y" or "lol get good" that make people less and less tolerant to others. The game tries to set out goals and things to work towards but some people want it instantly with little to no effort.
  17. Amazes me how many people lack the drive to put in the effort to work towards something these days. Rather than try to learn and adapt to the game I keep seeing people asking for things to be nerfed or given straight away. I get this is supposed to be a casual game but doesn't mean the game should be void of harder content or aspects that take some grinding to achieve. There's plenty to do in game so that people can find what they enjoy doing. If everything is given to people off the bat then the game is gonna become boring and dull as there will be no sense of achievement or stuff to aspire to. Edit: mentioning this here as op titled his thread as things being gatekept in pve endgame content. His issue with finding raids/strikes group can be solved if he either creates his own group or joins a guild as previous people have mentioned before.
  18. Not sure how this is relevant to the discussion in the thread as it is talking about fractals, raids and strikes not open world content. For best experience of silverwastes I suggest joining riba farm on lfg. Very efficient map and plenty of players contributing.
  19. Whether the player could or couldn't do XJJ isn't the point here, its the fact that he joined an experienced run with no experience, and when he asked if he was still OK to join, the commander said no. It was the guy's group, he has every right to kick the dude for not following the requirements he set out ( he in fact gave him a chance to leave of his own accord). It may seem harsh to some but some people aren't willing to run the risk of having an inexperienced player in the squad to potentially grief others, which in this particular moment the commander didn't.
  20. It doesn't suit your tastes mate, MMO's usually contain an element of interacting with other players so they try to design content around that. Mechanics are there to make things engaging, if you find them difficult or dislike them then thats down to you, not the game. If it was such an issue then anet wouldn't design their game that way but guess what, most people either like it or don't mind it so they continue to make it that way. Trying to help you mate but you keep exploding at the anyone not agreeing with you or having different opinion.
  21. Well sad to say mate that outside story and open world there ain't a lot of end game content that doesn't involve interacting with other players unless you are driving to put the effort into soloing/duoing stuff . You say that but Gw2 has been doing well so far. Plus I believe WOW is still going is it not? Maybe MMO's aren't to your particular tastes. Other single player or duo player fantasy games might be better for you if you dislike this playstyle so much.
  22. Some will some won't. The point of end game such as fractals, raids, strikes, pvp, wvw etc is that they are meant to present some sort of challenge. A lot will be dps checks and others will require doing some mechanics in order to defeat the boss or negate elements that could do a lot of damage/one shot you. Also keep in mind that if you aim to do content made for 5 people with just 2 then its more likely that things will become more difficult mechanic wish as your trying to split jobs that can be spread between 5 people with 2. Its possible to solo such content but it will sometimes take more skill and knowledge than my may possibly have. If you want to learn mechanics at a more slow and comfortable pace might be best to look up guides and maybe ask in LFG for "training" runs. Might also consider joining a guild that offers training in said content.
  23. The whole idea of a Qol is that's its an added bonus not a requirement, therefore some sort of exchange or way to obtain such a thing would be expected, which is currently set to 250gd. Not having a commander tag doesn't stop people from being able to play the game If you want it you work for it, if you don't think its worth the effort then you go without.
  24. I agree that people should be able to organise subs in 10 man content when a commander is absent. However it also seems that people don't want to put the effort in to obtain the tag. Does no one find it fun to work towards something anymore and instead expect free handouts?
  25. I mean he didn't have the mastery so he couldn't actually do it, they didn't kick him for having bad dps or anything from what he vaguely described. Since we don't know what exactly was said to him we can't determine if the group was in fact being elitist. His grievances seems to be more with the design of the encounter not the people he was playing with.
