  1. I'm no pvp expert, but it sounds there is not a lot you can do personally. I would recommend opening a support ticket (or sit it out as I have no doubt it will timeout eventually)
  2. I would not call this the biggest flaw by far. A good advice in making a point is not to exaggerate or over dramatize things. RP is very welcome in GW2, but the game is never made with that intend. Still some QoL additions like this would be very nice and the LFG could use an overhaul in the near future. I would also recommend a toggle to only show categories that are nearby. (so when in fuilds in ruin with that option toggled off you'd see all dungeons, but with that option toggled on you'd see only Ascalonian catacombs. A groupfinder would also help a lot for other formats then RP-ing
  3. Just cause something can be done or cause competitor A or B did it, doesnt mean it is a great idea or should be done that way. When the genre was young, the most established game was WoW. GW1 was relative small. With the campaign factions, arenanet introduced the achievements (or title) system. It was back then reveolutionary. It attracked a lot of people. The reason was that there is a rule in gaming. No content can be created quicker then it can be played. things like achievements are to fill this gap. When GW1 started this, other games like WoW followed. Bottom line is: the goal of achievements is not to pleasure completionists who wants to complete everything. It is to give people something to do between releases.
  4. I do think the IBS was a no win situation. They originally planned to release IBS as a replacement for an expansion. Looking at specifically how they did Drizzlewood coast after the decission was made to do it differently, I can see the potential this plan had. However, it hit with very strong backfire by the general public and they had to redraw the roadmap to include an expansion. This costed way too much of the quality of the IBS living world being unsattisfying as it is now. If they didn't change course, the outcry would have been the same and even now people complained a lot bout the release path towards EoD. So it was never good enough. Looking back, they never actually had a pace that was good enough and always struggled with the delivery speed. I do hope now everything is behind us, they can pick up the pace again and go on as it was with season 3+ 4. Side note here: Somewhere after PoF the studio also concentrated on projects outside GW2. These were cancelled. This was around the same time as season 4. After that IBS got demoted to a (rushed) living world season and they started on EoD. Let's focus on what we know for the future for sure and what we can assume. - Living world season one remake (this one is obvious as the final part is nearly released) - New living world season (I think this is also confirmed, but correct me if I'm wrong) afaik not confirmed, but suspected: - A new DLC (expansion or something of the sort). (suspected cause they should have learned from the IBS mess and cause they still have many great plans for the game) With the state of the original game and that being 10 years old I also suspect they have plans there. But we 'll have to wait and see what and how
  5. off topic. I was going to say that a post already exists and the OP should use the search function, but that post seems to be gone. Looking at the way things are going in this one, it seems the same issue is arising here. Please be respectful to each other. It should be a shame as honest opinions would get bullied away cause people can't address each other in a civilized way. On topic. GW2 does not charge monthly fees. The studio has limited development time compared to games who are a lot bigger and/or has monthly fees. This means it takes time for new content to be delivered. There is still a lot to do in the game if you are willing to revisit older content. Re-run all of the living world for example 😉 It is not the fluff that is the issue, but that you are bored. I have a universal rule that applies to all games. "No content can be developed as fast as it can be created." (I should trademark it). It means that no matter how quick new content is released, people will be bored as there is no new content available strait away. With the need to cather the many, and not just the one, this issue gets even bigger. In the end patience will always be a virtue.
  6. I agree with the mote, just make sure that gliding/mounts are properly disabled when you've touched the mote. It is too easy to accidentally hit a wrong key and start gliding or mounting. Perhaps something like the Sanctum Scramble adventure. The regular skills are disabled and replaced by something else. This can be to make the puzzle more challenging. It adds a record mode. It also allows to create it differently for each puzzle. For example, what I would do with Fawcett's Bounty is that Whenever you get knocked down, spiked, burned or hit the water, the adventure would fail and you get the option to teleport back to the beginning to start over
  7. I do believe this is a much more difficult issue related to new elite specialisations and skills destroying older content. By just buffing the world bosses you achieve two things. 1: The elite players who own all expansions are needed to do the kill (which would be counter effective to the free to play mindset of those maps) 2: The players who do not have everything unlocked or are in the progress of levelling will feel left out during the fight. The gap between F2P and full access account is getting bigger and bigger. I think there is only one thing to do about it and it is that the next expansion is a campaign. To explain to those not familiar with the term campaign in the Guildwars universe. It was used in GW1 to descibe an expansion that has its own starting area's and could be played stand alone (although you could travel between campaigns if you wanted with the same character). This allows for several things. 1: New mechanics, tools, utlity's masteries etc that are specific to the campaign. 2: new starting area's with a new levelling experience. The original game would turn more and more into a demo (and as it is 10 years old that should be ok). The newer mechanics could be disabled in the current original game and the game has more freedom to move one without the need to think about the original games thats 10 years old.
  8. There are many types of people. Those who are extravert and voice themselves easily and those who dislike being in the company of people or having the feeling they are being wachted (introvert). I can understand that being able to do content solo in an open world RPG is different from a single player RPG. In an open world RPG you still encounter other players and are being watched. It makes my behaviour in GW2 different from my behaviour in e.g. skyrim. I understand the request. However, I do not think that arenanet is going to be the company that could realistically make that game. Arenanet is a rather small company that needs finances from their mother company NCsoft. That is a korean company who generally makes games for a very different audiance. Arenanet is a odd fish in the net. Getting NCsoft to open up a lot of money to do something out of their comfort zone will not likely happen. Specially cause Arenanet seems to have a bad record when it comes to failing side projects.
  9. just cause an issue only surfaces with a specific program, doesn't mean it is related to that program. So I strongly recommend doing all steps.
  10. M y option isn't listed which is, all of the above. Arenanet should cather all players old and new. So keep improving current festivals. Add new ones and focus on other content. This does mean they have a lot of work with limited time, so it will take a while to notice changes.
  11. Using a third party software in essence will not get you banned. Even if it modify's the client. What will get you banned is breaking the terms of service. So if you modify the client in any way that is a violation of the terms of service you can get suspended. That is the reason why e.g. Arc-dps is not an issue. It doesn't do anything that is against the terms of service and it is exactly known what it changes. With most third party plugins the issue is that you do not exactly know how and where it modifies the client, but as it is your copy of the client you are responsible and therefor the one who get's banned. To complicate things further. Modifying the client in such a way it raises the suspicion of faul play, can get you banned. So it is very tricky and risky to run a third party program not being used a lot by others. You do not know what it really does and you are responsible for what it does
  12. I think you are not revived or rallyed, but you actually press the downed skill vapor form. The downed skills depend on your profession. This particular skill can be confusing if you do not read the tooltip carefully. It transforms you in a cloud of vapor, enabling you to move around, but not to use any skills or participate in the fight. It is usefull for elementalist (who have low armor and are low on health) to transport themselves away from the battle to a place where they have more chance to revive themselves or get revived. Vapor Form - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W)
  13. From the wiki: Note: The refugees appear only when the Flame and Frost episode is active. Black Citadel Refugee Camp - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W) Lawta should be at this refugee camp if she is still looking for her sword. So if the camp is missing, you likely dont have the flame and frost episode active.
  14. Back in 2011 I recommended to add an extra elite skill "Power of the six Gods" It would kill everything in a range of 500 parsecs and any dev trying to nerf it would instantly loose his/her fingers. I'm terrible dissapointed they did not follow up on that suggestion and feel like they do not take me serious
  15. Why would a form of art not represent some ideological or political idea?? On the contrary, would it still be art if it didn't to some extend. Art is ment to make you think and make you wonder. It also doesnt mean that the artist agree with the idea or politics represented in the art. In the end it is the spectators job to like it or not. Take the example of writers dislike male characters. That is your personal view on how you experience the story. For all we know the writers had an intention. For example. All men are bad (I'm a man btw). They want this game to express this theory and get men to think about it and how they agree with this representation of the males in the human race. Then again, it can very well not be their intention, it matters less. What each of us thinks about is what matters. Artists create art, but we are the ones who decides wether it really is art or not. What is appealing to one is disgusting to another.
  16. I would prefer them to resolve the scattering issue in a different way. The game needs to be upgraded and brought to a new level. It is now 10 years old and is getting outdated. Assuming that they can do everything they want in the current game, I'd suggest to make a campaign. This equals an expansion, but with new starting area's and maps to level up in. New story's. Maybe new races. Make it a matter of choice, but make it the better option for experienced players (so quicker to level up. more rewards and more esthetic). Keep the old ones, but focus on it for the play for free players
  17. I'm actually against having all skins available for all formats. An exclusive skin should be exclusive by design. Having more formats available diminishes the value. The reason certain changes have been made in the past is cause rewards for e.g. PvP and WvW where lacking. So PvE only awards where added. but this should not automatically work the other way around. Ow and raids are also a type of PvE
  18. I doubt that any solution can be found in the player base and think this would fit the suggestion-category better as I truly think that the solution is a design change. People want to kill as soon as possible. You can ask them not to do it, but it will happen most of the time anyways. The game is designed in a way that low level content is still enjoyable when playing a high level character. With the increase of dps of the last 10 years, this has shifted. We got legendary/ascended weapons and armor. We got more types of foods, we got updated skills and we got elite specialisations. I do not have any numbers, but without a doubt our DPS has increased significantly. The solution in my opinion is to re-evaluate the downscaling AND add a maximum dps to high level players. So downscale them further and add a maximum dps to them.
  19. true, but there is also racial armor and models for race. In the datafile is a single cell for race. This detemines both the story and racial skills as well as the armor models to be used of each version of the armors and which sets are available.
  20. the amount of stuff needed to obtain a legendary weapon has not decreased. There have been more effecient farms added to the game, that helps minimise time, but it still takes a good amount of time. However, I disagree that GW2 endgame ever resolved around getting prestige skins. The game has a high sandbox character to it and this has only increased. You can do whatever you want. If you want to get the prestige skins go get them. Just keep in mind they come with a grind and that is the price you have to pay. if you do not like it, do not get it. There is so much more to do. Specially when you have been gone since the time CoF farm was the best way to get gold, the amount of content added for max level is huge
  21. as explained, at the moment it is a loose plothole. I'd expect that in the near future this might change. We know they are a product of ley line energy. We know now that ley line energy is a form of energy based on one or more of the six primary domains of magic (when it would be a combination of all 6 it would be void energy). The rest is speculation, but to give it a try. When we started killing elder dragons, the fabric of the world was disturbed. This cause the ley line energy to become off. In some cases it came to the surface and manifestated itself as e.g. a coalescence or as this naked man. I somehow suspect that with EoD the story line of the elder dragons has come to an end, but not the story of the void energy vs ley line energy. So I do hope this plot hole will be solved as well.
  22. If there is going to be a next living world season ( I do think so) and if it will be a continuation of EoD story (I do think so), it might very well be that it will be delivered the same way all living world seasons before have ben delivered. In orde to play you need to unlock it by either: 1: being online in the weeks/months following the go live date 2: buy it in the stores In order to actually play it you'll need access to end of dragons (so you need to have bought end of dragons on that account). Even though I'm pretty sure about each IF, There are still a lot of them!
  23. I am an elder gamer (still in my 40's though). profanity filters and language filters are not done for minors, but for their parents. It doesn't fit in their values and what they feel comfortable to get their kids in contact with. In my opinion the profanity filter on the forum does not exist to uphold a pegi 13 rating, but cause it keeps things civilised. We are all people from around the world, from different countries, cultures and ages. Having the decenty to abide to some rules, help to keep the game nice for everyone. The pegi 13 rating has nothing to do with that in my opinion. Two examples: 1: I'm form the netherlands and my wife is Scottish. When she speaks in english she swears alot, just as her mom did, and her scottish family does. This doesnt mean she does the same in dutch. She knows that it is a difference culture, but the load of these words are even different between those two countries. 2: I was reprimanded once to use a word that describes the feces of a male cow. To me this is a very normal word. But what I did not know was that it is percieved much more violent and epxressive by people from other cultures. So in sort, keep it civilised makes it happy for everyone. An important note as well is that guilds are allowed to govern themself. If your guild(s) allow it, feel free to express yourself in any way you want. Do not hold back and be yourself, as you are with friends and not with strangers. abide to the rules fo the guild management, but thats it.
  24. yes they are trying, but no, what you are witnissing is not solid proof of botting. As a player we can never know for sure. To be botting you either need to be using outside tools (which does not seem to be the case here). Support has means of checking this. For checking if you legally or illegally idle farming, they have a pretty simple test. The rule is you have to be present at the keyboard. So a GM investigating a report will simply ask the player. If they are responsive they are present at the keyboard and there is no foul play. When they do not respond, they will recieve proper actions (first offender is them being moved away with a message to not do this againt, later on the banhammer will be used). You can actually help support by pm-ing a player before reporting them. Ask them something like "Hey, are you a bot?" if they are replying, you know there is no need to report (keep in mind that a GM will have a special coloured PM and while a player is obligated to reply to a GM, they are not obligated to reply to you. Another thing to understand is that there are people botting. Most often this is not for personal gain, but because they are part of a larger organisation envolved in gold selling. They are not the owner of the account and use two methods to gain access: 1: They use hacked accounts 2: they use accounts created with stolen creditcards. Once an account get banned they will simply hack another one or use another stolen credit card. Often re-using same or simular names. Are you sure they are the same accounts 😉 GW2 is a game. It may look realistic, but what you experience on your screen is a representation. For both bots and for the studio, it is more then this interface and they look at what happens behind the interface.
  25. understanding is a three edged sword. Your side, their side and the truth. Yes you are correct that part of the community tends to overfocus on DPS, making them blind for all else that moves. But also understand why and how dps-meters play an important role in some specific content in the game. So both are corect. Just understand there should be a healthy balance between using DPS-meters and making them the only viable source of information bout how succesfull a build, a group of players or an individual is. When the people you play with lack this balance, while you have it, look for other people to play with. If you find a hard time finding those people, it is more likely you who lacks the balance.
