  1. In the whole of End of Dragons, the Catalyst existing is what bothers me the most. I have always loved Ele, I even rany first playthrough of EoD as a Catalyst and did the full story and all achievements with it. It still wasn't fun to me. Even with all the changes since, and the fact that it's now got high dps and survivability and has a boon support option, I still don't like it. We just did not need a fourth spec that essentially does the same thing as the other three. A melee that flicks between elements to do damage... now with orbs flavouring tied to one slow, boring melee weapon. Anet have made it clear the staff is a support or healer weapon... I still don't understand why. OK sure. Then they buff the scepter "look you have range now!!1" to try to appease us. Ignore the fact scpeter still has only 900 range, important skills which emphasise being next to the target and is forced to operate within the melee framework of the 4 existing specs. I mean wow, I can STAB in melee! I Can SLASH in melee, I can SLAM in melee, I can BLAST in melee. I can do the same thing four times over with slightly different elemental sprinklings, what's not to like!? Thanks to Anets masterful game design I can have this much variation in my favourite class, so many playstyles, it's almost too much excitement.
  2. + I like the zone aesthetic, the design is beautiful and unique. I love being in a underground area. + The meta is nice because it is "bite size", it's not a two hour commitment or anything, and I don't need to line it up with a timer on the wiki. + It feels rewarding. - Story is short I guess. Doesn't bother me as it gave all the required pretext imo, but I can see how it would bother others. - Gas mask mechanic is obnoxious - Boss has too much HP, I don't really mind it's simplicity. Overall I like the release. The meat of its content is a bit on the light side but as someone who doesn't play all the time and enjoys open world maps when I do play it's a nice area to add to the repertoire of options available.
  3. I think they've made it clear they want staff to be a healer weapon unfortunately. What we need is a ranged weapon with damage focused skill kit, but that's unlikely to happen any time soon since with the latest expansion announcement it seems new specs are off the cards for now.
  4. They have their work cut out for them if they want to continue to use the mastery system as an incentive for "new ways to play an explore". Because they've clearly run out of ideas. What we got in EoD in terms of masteries was abysmal. Skiffs are tied to the fishing minigame, and are vastly inferior to the skimmer in every other way, there's no reason to use one outside of fishing. The jade bot is basically a replacement for Volatile Magic (a way to target and help stabilise the economy of specific materials) which doesn't drop in the new maps. It comes with a stamina buff that wasn't really necessary and don't get me started on the stupid little platforms that take from from point A to B, those are basically jumping mushrooms 2.0. Protocols are awful too because they are a chore to maintain, only work in the overworld, and they blur the lines on build diversity. Why would I run a quickness build when exploring when I get it for free now, why would I slot sigil of strength, why bother with runes that provide fury and might? Etc Siege turtle has like 3 uses in the game. It's the only mount I will never buy a skin for because you only use it for brief moments in specific maps.
  5. The rainbow unicorn bow has been in the game for ten years, so has the disco ball Mace and confetti Pistol.
  6. There's a common trend on the internet where people tend to only add their feedback when they are disagreeing with something. For this reason, I felt like I wanted to chime in with my worthless 2c as a veteran player, and say that big balance patches like this are one of my favourite things about playing any online game, whether it was Warcraft 3 back in the day, Diablo, WoW or GW2. It breathes fresh life into the meta game and provides us with new ways to have fun interacting with and experiencing all the content the game has to offer. Gw2 has a fairly poor track record of providing balance updates like this, for example some skills or classes can be meme tier for years at a time. I don't know if it's because the devs are afraid of community backlash or something, so that's why I want to speak up by saying I love this update. I applaud the new direction and communication and hope to see more of this type of patch through out next year and hopefully into the future. So thank you to Cal and Roy and the rest of the team for loving the game as much as we do and striving to keep it fresh and fun for us.
  7. Try not to die of boredom. At least set up some Netflix or YouTube for your 2nd monitor or TV if you're playing that build. Might want to consider taking up a craft like knitting too.
  8. I've been trying out the new rifle mech over the past week and I have to say it's really disgusting. . Why should one spec holding down the 1 key and spamming F keys outdps my favourite class Tempest going full try hard mode. From 30 yards, with tonnes of CC, mobility and survivability. It's a sign of clear laziness and class favouritism by the devs imho.
  9. First thing I do when creating a new character is consume a birthday scroll and 20+ tomes of knowledge then go to the wvw heroics vendor and buy all my hero points. I leveled my fair share of characters (1+ of each class) the regular way, and I do enjoy map completion but I'd rather do it these days as on overpowered level 80 with legendary gear and elite spec than go through the vanilla gear and skill treadmil each time.
  10. There a practice going around of filling a group before the Meta starts via discord and guild, then grabbing the remainder from LFG. While they do this they farm Imperial favours in DE so their time isn't wasted. They are encouraged not to speak in map chat as they don't want randoms to know they are prepping a meta run. When they have 50 in the squad they all leave the map and go to Echvoald or Arborstone, then simultaneously re-enter. The influx of 50 players at once will typically force the megaserver system to spawn at least one new map, which they can then taxi the full squad into. This is done so everyone in the squad can get in, and aren't locked out by some rando fishing or doing story/map completion. What you're seeing is probably the result of this. Personally I don't know what to make of this. On one hand it's only fair to allow them to get all 50 people into the map. On the other hand it ruins the "dynamic open world boss" structure that Anet intended. It's a result partially of the map capacity / shard system and the fact that this system can be gamed like this, but more so of the fact that this event was vastly overtuned at launch and even though it's since been nerfed to be much more forgiving, it is extremely punishing to fail given the time investment required (two hours down the drainpipe) and people rightly don't want to risk it by bringing random open world longbow 1 rangers.
  11. It's to put more trash into noobs inventories so they buy more bag slots. This is a joke please don't ban me
  12. I was perusing the WvW weapon skins a few weeks ago, specifically the "Mist Lord" weapon set and was impressed with how aesthetically clean and elegant they are, but as usual I notice the price. At 350 tickets + ~75g per skin, it seems a little out of hand to be honest. Now that price might be fair if you want to use the ascended weapon, as they are typically priced somewhere around that mark to craft or are dropped in boxes as rare rewards from end game content, ignoring the time cost. But if you already have an ascended or legendary weapon and you just want the skin that seems a little harsh as the 350 tickets in particular is basically Diamond rank in WvW and that is roughly 12-20 hours (depending on rank and score) in the game mode, for a single skin. I propose that you should be able to buy a skin-only version for half the price, because you already have a legendary that's all you're getting, you're not getting any of the functionality that would normally come with an ascended weapon, only the appearance. Two months of grinding diamond and 800g seems more reasonable than four months and 1600g for a single weapon set. Ideally this would apply to skins from other sources such as the living water ascended weapon skins from strikes too.
  13. While we appreciate the communication, it didn't really achieve more than radio silence could have... Saying "Oops we tried to take feedback but got it wrong. Patch goes live anyway and we'll try to fix it in three months" is a nothing sandwich.
  14. Un-nerf it? It was originally nerfed before the skill splits between game modes right? Just buff it back for pve. Also add burning like the OP suggests. Also make Air 1 deal 2x dmg if it doesn't bounce.
  15. Please let us regenerate enough energy to cast 1 jade sphere after combat.... The spec feels terrible if you have to engage a mob and you can't open with a jade sphere. Just allow it to quickly go up to 33% or whatever the number is for a single jade sphere, if you are out of combat and below that amount. Necromancer has a trait that does this iirc, just copy paste that code thanks
  16. On sites such as snowcrows they suggest you use almost all your weapon skills and utilities before entering shroud. This bothers me because shroud is the thing that applies quickness to your allies, and you are delaying the application by several seconds... maybe 7-10 which is a huge amount of time for your party to be lacking quickness. This is especially a big deal on bosses with limited time attack windows or immunity phases. Then on the other hand if you go straight into shroud you lose the dps and buffs from not applying your other condis and boons first. The other classes with quickness don't have this limitation. It's really annoying and I think it's a reason that quickbringer isn't that great.
  17. Oh it's so exciting swiping your credit card and getting nothing of value 95% of the time 🙄 I'm pretty sure it's less than 5% win rate too. That would mean one time in twenty you get a prize, I have personal experience getting Jack kitten after 50+ keys. The "Prize" in the chest is probably somewhere between the 1-3% range, and I'm sure they manipulate those percentages if their quarterly earnings are lower than they'd like. I heard the Star Cape thing was particularly bad, many people used over 100 keys before they got it, I really think they manipulated the kitten out of that one.
  18. It should at bare minimum show the drop rates for every item in the chest. How they are able to get away with it for so long is mind blowing. I'm sure the industry as a whole (e.g. overwatch, fortnite) which is worth probably billions has some lobby group paying any investigators to look the other way.
  19. Just make an autoclicker, seriously. It's not breaking any rules. I made one with my logitech keyboard software that I can toggle on/off by pressing it, all it does is left click every 100ms (ten times per second). I will not destroy my mouse or tendons due to poor design.
  20. There is no way to profit on these items, why would a baron "hoard and drip feed"? Anyone can see the price is going to go down and not up. Do you think they operate of the principle "buy high, sell low"? The reason they are still costly is because they are in demand, people want the new shiny and they have a preccursor to burn. Not because barons are hoarding them lmao
  21. If you press the dodge button right after you dismount (typically something you'd want to do after tail swiping with raptor) you will execute a vanilla dodge roll, which will eat your entire stamina bar and obviously do no damage.
  22. I just want to add that this is happening to me. I have successfully completed the event twice now (among ten other failures), neither of the successsful completions rewarded the neccessary tools drop for the achievement to progress, in fact I'm pretty sure didn't even get an event reward. In ten years playing this game, this event is the worst experience I have had BY FAR. It is a kittening disgrace that this made it into the game. edit: third successful completion. Still nothing.
  23. It seems they tried to please both the "flashy" and "realism" crowd when designing the base gun saber, what you end up with is a thing in-between which does not really appeal to either type of fashion. I too hope for unlockable skins, but I hope there's an option for one of each type. Squal's Gun Sword from FF8 is so much more aesthetically pleasing than this weird disc hilt LED blade that we got for GW2, I'd kill for that simple revolver hilt with meaty metal blade. The chain from the pomel is icing too
  24. Good thing they just made it feel even awfuller. Really needed to cement that spec as a design failure. It is the equivalent of the chef sprinkling the oregano on the dish or the cherry on top of the sunday.
  25. I'm at work now so can't say. But if they were actually added to the game you can preview them in the dye window. They will be located at the bottom of the list with lock icons to indicate you don't have them unlocked.
