  1. The only time I'm hit with the lance dismount is if I'm being chased by multiple people and they're lobbed at different times. That thing is so sluggish and easy to dodge its silly. Unfortunately, being chased by multiple people is when I actually want to run away. That said, the last thing we need is another barrier to successfully getting through an ewp. A delay on waypointing is not the solution we're looking for. If the goal is to put more people in combat then perhaps decreasing the predictability of the mount's lance ability would be the way to go about it? I'm not entirely sure its required though, the higher mobility professions are already shoving themselves down the throats of everyone else. ~ Kovu
  2. Solid is one thing they're not. ~ Kovu
  3. It would be nice if their servers weren't made predominately made of starch, but it has become apparent in recent years their parent company has been cutting costs. I'm not sure how much control the employees you're directing this to have over the servers their game runs on.I sympathize though. I do hear complaints about lag in pve in large scale events. ~ Kovu
  4. Yeah you can outrun mounts, but youll run out of initiative, they catch up and you have nothing to fight. I find the utility teleports or steal plus a pistol barrage is enough to knock them off their mount. Melee also works if they don't notice you coming. It's not no investment, but rangers need to put sic 'em & rapid fire on cooldown plus possibly a leap just to start the fight so everyone's expending some resources. Apart from those two and perhaps a lucky rev teleport most professions can't dismount their opponent (unless they do so with their own mount) so that's a plus for thieves. Moreover thieves have a lot of tools to bide time (blinds, teleports, stealth, evades, blocks) if they need a few moments to regenerate initiative before initiating their rotation. Sure they've lost the element of surprise, but it is what it is. ~ Kovu edit- I didn't come into this thread to say thieves are overpowered (especially with the current state of necro), just that they have better tools for dismounting than most. It'd put them at #2 below longbow ranger at the lowest. You could even place them above lb ranger as they have three instantaneous gap closers not tied to their weapon that allow them to keep up with the mounted player for longer. Ranger leaps are comparatively sluggish.
  5. I've never even heard of this server but now I want in. ~ Kovu
  6. Nobody wants this to be their home map because they're forced to defend it and defending it is more difficult due to how far the objectives are from each other. Also, I've died to fall damage on this map in the past 6 years more than I've died to Yaks Bend players since the launch of the game. Nothing quite like trying to glide somewhere around air or fire keeps just to have them flip on you mid flight. That crap doesn't happen on the alpine maps. That said, a change of scenery every once in a while is nice, and as an attacker hitting the keeps on this map is more advantageous due to the weird terrain than on alpine which is more straight forward. ~ Kovu
  7. Hey, at least you got to see Spiderman. Better than some of the movies. ~ Kovu
  8. The perfect mount to get caught inside a stampede of zerglings. too soon, man =(
  9. They're doing a solid job at pushing ranger towards condi in pvp. ~ Kovu
  10. I wish I could trade my 23k skirmish tickets for all of that fractal stuff, but I understsand Anet wants everyone to play all aspects of their game. ~ Kovu
  11. Just remove rallying in competitive play. I actually feel players investing in tools that allow them to be more effective at reviving people could be viable, there are pros and cons to standing over a player and pressing 'f' in the middle of a fight while taking cleave damage. My ranger can do it with SnR sometimes (the skill is super buggy), but my necro will just die if I use them to revive downed players. And my thief? Well, if I have SR on my bar unused you can have it, but you're otherwise on your own, that toon is full glass. Honestly, downstate just delays you from getting back into the fight by not allowing you to instantly be able to respawn. People will hate me for saying this, but I feel downstate isn't in a bad place at the moment. It's just the rallying component that bothers me. ~ Kovu
  12. Only if we get the bowling ball striking pins sound effect. ~ Kovu
  13. Soon™ .... edit- but in all seriousness, what sorts of updates were you looking for? Alliances? No new news on that front, but its not happening anytime soon. You should join your guild friends, if you can't front the transfer cost perhaps they could help.
  14. That's not fixing steath. That's deleting it from the game. If you were to play a warrior, how viable could you be if not hitting/getting hit for 3 seconds would take all your adrenaline away? I'm not sure how the two compare. Short duration strategic stealths exist in this game and are utilized for what they are already, both on thief and on other professions. All what Lan suggests would "delete" is the toxic permastealth gameplay. Thieves would still have a multitude of ways to _re_stealth, they just couldn't camp it indefinitely. ~ Kovu
  15. +1 for removing stealth from every profession except thief and turning thief's into a non-stackable effect (like superspeed).Rework the durations (like SR) with that in mind.Adjust thief mini portal, that should be a Mesmer exclusive trick. I haven't used it, but thief portal should function closer to necro portal. If you want to keep group play remove smoke fields from every profession except thief but allow other professions to leap/blast off of thief smoke fields. Engineers, rangers and mesmers have plenty of other tools for survival. (--Despite what other people in this thread may claim with the latter.) ~ Kovu
  16. I entirely agree with the first point, but I'm not sure how it could be abused for capture point prevention? Running back from spawn is not an especially quick endeveour and gg'ing in those situations will save players at most a few seconds (the time they spend in downstate, which itself prevents capture point contribution). Definitely agreed with treating it like an alt+f4 so far as bags, loot and points are concerned. ~ Kovu
  17. I got stuck in the supply depot the other day. I was standing on it waiting for supply to spawn and the boxes clipped me into them when they appeared. Crappy part is I only needed 9 supply so I couldn't remove the boxes. People swung by about a minute later and set me free, but still, amusing. I'm not against a 'gg' function, its less rage-quity than alt+f4'ing. ~ Kovu
  18. Nah, I saw a necro the other month. ~ Kovu
  19. Staff elementalists and (depending on the placement) revs have been doing this since forever. I also see Mesmer clones and the odd ranger pet pecking away at things.Destroying siege in hard-to-reach places is probably the highlight of what a rangers can contribute to the gamemode. Have a problem with it? Kill them. I wish necro torch 5 could still hit people and siege on walls. I really want to like torch but its sooo sloooow. =( ~ Kovu
  20. If you're allowed to utilize multiple builds on the same profession, Mesmer. If you took the utility they provide to large groups and the nigh unkillable nature of the roamer variants you'd have the best profession for not having to swap toons depending on the scenario. They're only 4-5th best for zerging, but I'd place them in the top 3 (IMO #1) for roaming. That said, I bet if whomever used to post those off-site polls where you could vote up and down certain professions, necro wouldn't finish last in the roaming scene as they have in the past. They've been hit the least in recent patches so far as I can tell. ~ Kovu
  21. A lot of people will use the term to describe a roamer taking out a zerg build trying to get back to their group. (Such as a ranger popping a scourge.) People will also use it to describe individual players being taken out by a group of players while with their group (usually glass builds caught off tag). I'm not bothered by somewhat broadened use of the terminology that we as a gaming community use to describe various scenarios. I'm sure a staff elementalist being popped by a (basically) instantaneous backstab/heartseeker quickness burst from stealth feels pretty "ganked". If you prefer to use the expression "picked off", that's fine too. The expression of "ganked" in gaming is just a word used to describe taking out an unexpecting or less experienced player. Numberical advantage often comes with that, but not always. ~ Kovu
  22. Achievement points are basically a measure of people who's played the game longer regardless of whether there's a daily dip or not. In the end its just a number next to your account with very little actual value. ~ Kovu
  23. They just need to adjust AoEs on necros.Other professions either don't have many AoEs to play with, the AoEs themselves aren't all that stellar or the builds required to use those AoEs die when you look in their general direction.Heck, in recent weeks I've died to burn guards more than I've died to staff elementalists or hammer revs. Those spinny swords and other guardian small AoEs get buried under all of the clutter and the burning gets covered up by other conditions. ~ Kovu
  24. Give it an icd, have it tick only once during that time and increase the damage to compensate. It should be relevant if a single player has it up, but spamming AoE group retal isn't exactly high tier play and shouldn't obliterate someone dropping a bubble/reflect/pulsing damage. ~ Kovu
