  1. What's unnecessary to you might be an opportunity for others. I've seen enough posts here asking about legendary armor obtainable purely through open world PvE to know it is far from "unnecessary".
  2. This would eliminate the element of choice. How do you choose which expansion's HP's you're going to get if you only have 1 kind of proof of heroics? Especially with HoT HP's I would want the choice left to me, instead of randomly completing HP's from whatever expansion. People who play strikes (and they are the only ones who get blue prophet shards) would notice. Also, the shards are a currency, the ice shards a material, i.e. differently coded items. You don't "just" change one of them to combine the two. There is more work involved so the real question would be: is it worth the investment of resources to change this? If no one would see the difference, as you claim, why bother in the first place?
  3. "The Wizard’s Vault is a new streamlined rewards system that combines the best elements of the daily login and daily achievement systems, allowing you to play Guild Wars 2 the way you want to–whether it’s PvE, Player vs Player, or World vs World, or a mix–and earn a wide variety of exciting rewards for doing so." I'm guessing this would answer your question? Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/new-rewards-in-guild-wars-2-secrets-of-the-obscure/
  4. There is a drop down menu on top of the inventory subscreen that lets you select what kind of currency you want to see, e.g. competitive, map related, instanced, etc. Regarding Proof of Heroics, they do serve a purpose separately. They let you complete HP's in maps from different expansions. I use them mostly for HoT HP's, since a lot of them are champ fights and I don't always want to invest time into gathering some people to do them or soloing them. Exchanging my current proofs to HoT ones to unlock those HP's is very convenient. Even for easy HP's, getting them with proofs instead of going through the maps to get them all saves a lot of time, if you don't feel like spending that time on completing HP's. I get why people ask for a simplification of currencies. Personally, I don't have a problem with it. I know where each currency is in the list and I ignore the ones I don't need. You don't just get defense seals from DRM's. Dragonstorm also yields defense seals. You can buy lots of materials for those, for instance leather and cloth, which take more time to farm than wood, metal and plants. So I use them for extra materials, which I can then sell for gold (basically the same principle as eternal ice -> volatile magic -> materials.
  5. It used to be that these weren't saved, so I would assume that's what it will be this time as well.
  6. This basically sums up how I feel. I still enjoy GW2 daily, despite some worries over what they plan to do (relics) and the latest balance patch. And yes, I pre-ordered as soon as I found out about the expansion, just like I did with the previous expansions. I don't like an incomplete game and a MMO without all expansions feels like an incomplete game to me.
  7. The Kryptis mentioned in the expansion info are described as a new threat coming through rifts in Tyria, so I don't think they have kept the Wizards preoccupied during all those centuries. One option could be that they were very aware of the Elder Dragons. Being magic users it wouldn't be surprising they knew of the ebb and flow of magic in Tyria and how Elder Dragons played a vital role in that process and didn't feel like risking the entire world by disrupting that cycle. By the time we started killing them there was no stopping the effects of our actions anymore. Another thing we have to take into account is that the Wizards have been living in the skies for about a millennium. The last time the Elder Dragons arose was 11,000 years ago. Most of what we know about Elder Dragons we find out while playing through the story, piecing together the remnants of lore we find in various regions of Tyria. All the knowledge we now have wasn't readily available in a convenient single tome. It might very well be possible the Wizards don't know much about the Elder Dragons to begin with. And it's not as if we gave them the time to consider what to do once we started killing them. We also don't know why they went into seclusion and distanced themselves from all sentient life on Tyria. And this new information also raises a lot more questions about Isgarren, the wizard who supposedly resides in the Wizard's Tower in Kessex Hills. The people of Garenhoff know about him, he helps protect them and has also invited people to his tower who have never been seen again. Is he at odds with his fellow Wizards for living so close to humans and helping them out? Or does living up in the skies mean they are too far away to see what's going on in Tyria (and were as such unaware of the latest dragonrise)? There are many options to introduce them without creating plotholes or retconning lore. I just found it odd that OP immediately saw story and lore issues looking on the horizon. As it is, all we can do is wait for the story to be released. So far, though, there's no reason to believe the writers have messed up the story compared to what has already been told.
  8. It's not you. Your English is more than sufficient. They're deliberately being obtuse.
  9. An understandable concern, especially since ANet's storytelling hasn't always been top notch. I do have a side note, though. The fact that we haven't seen or heard the Wizards do something to protect Tyria doesn't mean they didn't. Tyrians haven't been aware of them at all, so anything they do the people are also not aware of, or won't recognize as such. There might have been other threats that needed to be held at bay, at the risk of making the Elder Dragon problem even worse. In the end it's simple, though. The story hasn't been released yet. We have no idea what the background will be, what reasons they have for not directly interfering/assisting with the Elder Dragon problem. All of that will logically have to wait until it's released.
  10. With previous expansions the shared inventory slots from the expansion lvl 80 booster have always been added to the existing maximum of shared inventory slots. This one works exactly the same. Expansion releases increase the maximum shared inventory slots by 1.
  11. ANet gets more money when people buy character slots to make a new character and then unlock all the template slots than just increasing the maximum number of templates on a character. And while you might want to play 9 or more different builds on one class with one character, I'm pretty sure that's a minority preference.
  12. This is actually more effort than the one extra click that's now needed to get the list of capital cities. Funny that you complain about one extra click, then present this as a viable alternative for keeping tomes in shared inventory slots. It's simple. Use the new system long enough and you will get used to it and not give it another thought. We humans have the capabilities to adapt to changing conditions. It's merely force of habit that makes people object to something that really isn't a problem at all.
  13. This is how conflicts escalate. It does not discourage the behavior you're complaining about. Retaliation? You think people are afraid of words in a chatbox? Why would you even waste your time on toxic airheads? Block and ignore really is the best option, regardless of what system is being utilized. If you describe responses to such messages as retaliation it's pretty clear where you're coming from. I'd say responding to such messages should overrule a block, because clearly you want to engage. Why else respond?
  14. The wiki is completely accurate regarding this event and it's preceding events (preceding events are always mentioned on the wiki). Janin also isn't a champion but merely an elite, so easy to defeat solo. What likely happened is that, while you were waiting for Janin, the Reclaim the boathouse event failed because no one was killing the mobs. And in that case, Janin will never spawn.
  15. I don't care for the hammock myself, but I love that people love the hammock. It's almost as if people have their own preferences and likes, and that all of that is okay. Or maybe I'm just rambling. Who knows? 🤔
  16. Considering the code for this is as old as the game itself, I'd rather ANet focus on actual content than potentially breaking the game or spending months of resources on this (or both).
  17. Wonderful. I think this thread is ready to be closed. You're looking for yes-men. If you hadn't noticed yet, you're not going to find them here.
  18. That's not how this works. I'm sensing a pattern here... 😉 P.S.: Joke made in good nature. Shouldn't have to be mentioned, but I have a feeling here it does.
  19. We're not ignoring you. We're stating that the option you want isn't meant to appear for items in invisible bags, because of the nature of invisible bags. It eliminates any chance of accidentally selling those items, which is completely in line with the purpose of invisible bags. You want them to be something they're not. That's a whole different ballgame. And you don't seem to want to understand that.
  20. No, that's not what OP means. They mean that the option to sell on the TP does not show in the drop down menu when you select an item in an invisible bag. To me this is very clear from their description of the "problem". And the option to sell on the TP is not meant to show with items in an invisible bag. Maybe the tooltip could be adjusted, but there's nothing wrong with the options you get for items in invisible bags.
  21. Thereby defeating the purpose of invisible bags. Here's a solution catered to your wishes: don't use invisible bags.
  22. Have you even read the article? If you think it works as an argument for your case, then it's obvious you didn't. First of all, the gemstore doesn't have shelves. It's always full, just not always with the same items (though the majority of the gemstore is filled with items that are available indefinitely). So the image of a half empty store simply does not apply. Second of all, it's not dependent on supply. You can't treat digital articles the same as physical articles. Not all the same rules apply. Those are only 2 of the differences between the article and ANet's gemstore. If you've actually read the article you'd know that Target's problems in Canada had nothing to do with any marketing strategy. They didn't have the infrastructure to support such a large number of stores, the locations were bad, the stores themselves were in bad shape. It was a bad business decision hastily executed and they ended up shooting themselves in the foot. ANet, on the other hand, has been running a game without a subscription on the basis of the revenue of game sales and gemstore purchases for 11 years now. If their tactics are so bad and detrimental, why are they working on a 4th expansion at the moment?
  23. Trust me, studies have been done. It's a general marketing strategy. Sales and limited availability trigger people into buying. It's standard human behavior for the majority of the population. Yes, there will be exceptions, but exceptions are by definition not the majority. ANet's customers aren't categorically different from the rest of the population.
  24. I don't think the problem lies with the search function...
  25. I'm sorry to burst your bubble but they didn't bring it back because you complained on the forum. A lot of items come back at least once a year. They don't do it on individual request. So you can save time and effort complaining on the forum and instead invest in patience, because that's the only thing that works in this regard. Research and analysis have shown that in a capitalist society these tactics work for the majority of people. So as a company that needs to make money to continue its existence and maintain and develop the game, they will utilize the tactic that is proven to work best. For a game that has no subscription of any kind this becomes even more important. No revenue, no game. Limited availability triggers people into buying and your perspective is in the minority. We can blame capitalism for this, but human nature is just as much a part of this equation. And that won't change anytime soon.
