Healing Rain must be one of the most underwhelming skills.

  • Giant kitten field
  • 35 second Cooldwon
  • A full second of casttime.

For.

  • A bit of regen. ( WoW! )
  • Pulses only 3 times.
  • Heals one Condi per pulse.
  • Doesnt even heal.
  • For a field this big only 5 targets?

Seriously. That skill would not even be OP on 10 Seconds Cooldown.

When properly spec'd it cleanses 2 condies per pulse, so 10 per pulse if using in a large group. However, I agree that the skill could use a lower cooldown, along with a few staff skills. Or maybe it could cleanse 2 condies by default, able to get 3 spec'ing into water.

Yes, just like many of staff skills, it's underwhelming

I wonder if because this skill is a combo water field, it's not buffed. Besides regen, it does have the opportunity to heal.

But now that catalyst is out, which can output a water field everytime Ele goes into water, healing rain feels even more underwhelming

The reg numbers for the tool tip is not right. The skill use to have a real stronger reg effect (maybe an hold over for old skills but there are other classes skills that also have stronger reg effects and i guess they still heal stronger then the stander reg) but sadly this no longer seems to be true. The longish cast time and the slow clear / reg tick makes it a bad skill in the current balancing. You get way more from transmutation clears and transmutation heals.

Also water fields are very out dated for the ele class frost fields are far better (sadly ele has very few of thoughts unlike other classes) its not like there an water aura when auras are the support for the ele class now (not a bad thing but leaves older support effects not related to auras nearly worthless see reg clears vs aura clears).

Staff needs help. It has potential, it does ok, but it is just not as diverse as and ele weapon requires to be useful for the class to flourish. The way you build the staff ele kind of means you are just camping one attunement, for the most part. Staff healer means you camp water. DPS cata/weaver for wvw, you camp fire and switch to air for s5, earth for s4, and water for s4. Then you just camp fire and auto attack lava font between meteor showers. It would be so nice to see some reworks to earth s2 (worthless), earth s5 (to slow), water s5 seems is incredibly underwhelming for the CD, air s2 makes me want to just auto attack in fire, and the auto attacks, save fire, are VERY underwhelming.

There is the synergy this has with Cleansing water. The pulsing Regeneration turns this into a 6 cleanse.

You can also blast it for healing with Water 2, dodging into it with Evasive Arcana, double tapping Earth 3... Which is admittedly a lot of effort to gain your healing, but having to go through extra steps to gain value is just Ele in a nutshell.

This would be powerful at a 10 second cooldown, arguably OP in a vacuum, the only thing that would make it balanced is that it is tied to an objectively underpowered weapon.

Sadly that nothing compared to what aura and transmutation clearing is doing now on a non GM trait.

Your far better off blasting a frost field or even an chaouse field for auras and aura applied effects that are healing too.

Water fields use to be very rare making healing rain something of real worth but now water fields are all over the place for many classes on far lower cd and much stronger effects. Like most things staff skill are wildly out dated healing rain is just one of the biggest out dated skill for staff.
