Anet taking the kitten yet again. Corporate policy, if we leave Gandara without a link for long enough surely they will lose people eventually. Sorry to disappoint ANet, strong communities are hard to break.

people leaving cause they get linked to gunnars hold , people transfering cause people don't wanna play with gh , can you guys for the love of god stop with this link kitten and work on high rewards for wvw so people actualy have a reason to play , like god kitten you guys are smart but this is a weird decision , like linking just made wvw worst , now there is a war between two servers linked , they kitten talk each others cause they are bad at the game , and now increase rewards and give people reason to play , and you'll see a perma q on wvw.

Gunnars and Underworld camping t1: getting relinked

Baruch Bay camping t4-5 and Gandara camping t5: no link

Just stop linking based on so called population because it doesn't work, sitting in wvw and capping camps to get ticks is not the same as active guilds running around. If you want to condemn servers to the lowest tiers for 2 months by working with 3 servers with no links, at least alternate instead of condemning the same servers over and over again. Fairest option is to just put the t1's without a link so that way people can have a good time half of the year or work without no link servers and throw them into 3-way links.

Servers from t4-5 already need a month to work their way up to t1 again, then they can fight on t1 for a month, get unlinked again and drop down to t4-5 in the first month, stay bottom tier for a month and repeat the cycle. Means 1 month of good content, 1 month no content and 2 months where they can at least fight different servers. Better than staying on the no content bottom tier for 4-6-8 months straight.

And yet, if you are correct as to the problem they would essentially fight each other in t-1 for a month….

Indeed. YB's siege game is mediocre at best - that reputation is no longer NEARLY as deserved as it used to be. Regardless, should be an... interesting... 2 months for us Yakkers.

Yes, your point being? To take the example of Gandara: they were t1 in March, then at the end there was an alliance beta + relink that gave them no link, but due to randomness after the beta they went straight from t1 to t5 from the week before beta to after the beta. Got no link the next time as well so locked into t5 for 4 months straight aside from random tiers after alliance betas. Link in August and climbing the ladder for a month, t1 during September, no link in October so dropping down the entire month, now locked in t5 since a month and for the next 2 months as well because it's full and simply doesn't have the numbers on normal days, only during weekend prime hours. The failure of the system that keeps the same 4-5 servers rotating in t1 does not justify locking specific servers in the bottom tier for months straight. The only thing we can do is play on main acc during weekend and play on an alt acc on other servers during the week (in my case, Underworld) cause if we'd transfer we wouldn't even be able to get back since Gandara is supposedly "full" while it has zero weekday coverage.
If there would be the guarantee that unlinked servers would always get a link the next time, at least there'd be something to look forward to. Now there is nothing like that, cause if there isn't a link at the end of January, the 3 months in t5 become 5 months straight.

Things were better when there were no unlinked EU servers and there were 2-way and 3-way links instead of 2-way links and 3 unlinked ones. The only thing that destroyed the 3 way links was throwing French, German and EU servers together in 3-way links which ended in complete toxicity while the 3-way links should have been limited to 2 language types: either 2 FR + DE/EU, 2 DE + FR/EU or 2 EU+ FR/DE with Baruch Bay counting as a separate language since it's ESP so Baruch should only end up with 2 DE, 2 FR, 2 EU or a 2-way link. But ofc, that means more work to make the links instead of just making some random 2-way links without restrictions and gating the 3 unlinked servers in the bottom tier.

Languages being thrown together is also a part of the reason why alliances won't solve much. Whenever FR/DE/EU alliances and guilds get thrown together it will end up in very toxic weeks but that's another discussion I guess.

Ok.  Got it.  But you talk about ‘stale matchups’.  What is the difference in a T-4/5 stale matchup and a t1 stale matchup when the teams are…. The same?  You haven’t answered that.  
 

Hate consistently being in T-5 unlinked, then maybe transfer to one of the servers that is a link server.  Those servers bounce between hosts frequently.  But then we hear ‘server pride’.  (I’ve been on the same server now for 7 years…). There are options.  
 

I mean, you can complain, and likely I would also, but you DO have some control.  Or ride it out for the next two years until world restructuring which will do it for you.  That is your current choices.

 

 

 

And don’t misunderstand me:  I am NOT saying transferring is a great option.  But it is AN option.  Hope you find what works for you.

Glad you got a good chuckle out of it.   I would love to know how ANET decides that 2 servers who have sat in T4 their entire pairing  should be paired again.    As if shuffling around all the other servers will somehow balance that out?   I don't think so.
