Why is an achievement-gated minidungeon a daily?

Because like many things in this game, it was a decision made by a spreadsheet and not someone who understands how the game is played. Someone saw something in the game that no one was ever really doing, and instead of sensibly trying to figure out why no one was doing it and fixing it (because that would require actual effort), they instead made it a daily requirement to squeeze people into doing it. Same with the Spirit Vestibule objective on day one.

Succinct. A requirement for developing anything to do with our daily gameplay should be the devs in question actually playing the game and doing research. Content that isn't done more can be a decent idea, but the requirement of something this gated behind persistent bugs and a time-consuming hidden achievement is asinine.

Copy-pasting my post from Reddit:

This mini-dungeon has a bunch of bugs on it, has had for ages. The chance of a map being bugged increases with the number of people in the mini-dungeon. I was in a multimap squad and it took literally half a dozen maps to find an unbugged one.

The one good thing is the minor chests count, not just the grand one - which is good because the Heart of Grenth melted so fast three quarters of the squad couldn't tag it in time, even with people only autoattacking.

Now it's on the daily - and you can't opt to skip it and go choose to do something else because there are only four options in the daily.

Anet, really, seriously, needs to provide a CHOICE of dailies to account for problems like this.

So happy someone already made a post about this, I was just coming here to whine about this stupid daily being impossible to complete, and finally, someone else is having the same issue.

 

I don't have 24/7 to camp this stupid dungeon waiting for a single daily. No, I DO NOT want to do PvP dailies, I would rather NOT do ANY dailies than PvP! No, I do not want to do WvW dailies either.

Said it before and I'll say it again...  The employee(s) that had to sign off on including these mini-dungeons into a daily routine where there is no choice but to do them should never be allowed to work on daily tasks again.  Never.  And that still goes if the case was just signing off including all mini-dungeons as potential tasks.  Everyone that has played a few hours of this game knows some mini-dungeons are not only terrible, but buggy beyond belief, especially when many people are in them.

It's just a mind-boggling level of detachment from the realities of the game.

 

Edit - And this needs to be addressed ASAP, not "soon" in terms of "GW2 soon" time where soon means in a year or more.

Should be pinned as this thread encompasses the exact problem with the new system. I think we've talked enough about the rewards now we should be talking about how accessible they are in regard to actually being able to complete daily and weekly tasks that simply don't make sense.

The best solution is to give us more PvE dailies than we need to do and mini-dungeons can only ever be one of them.  So give us five or six choices and we need to do four, but only one of those choices can be a mini-dungeon (so a day can't roll 3 mini-dungeons, for example).  And if everything is balanced around four dailies, then only give us credit for four dailies even if we do five or six.  Done.

Agreed. Refusing to fix this mini-dungeon for 18 months, then forcing it into our mandatory daily rotation, is plain-and-simple sadism.

I usually support the company, but this is a really annoying mistake to make. If you're going to change the daily systrem so there's no choice, you reallly should make sure the existing choices are possible. Tried it on three maps. Bugged on three maps. Done for the night. The frustration of the time wasted, makes me want to take the rest of the night off. I don't need the daily, but I hate wasting my time.

I actually was kinda getting into the new daily system but this killed my drive to play today. You can't put buged things in the daily it really that simple and the fact that has been known to been buged really makes me feel that the devs are very disconnected to the game

Sounds like you guys should put in a support ticket to have your 10 AA  (and 30AA, 1 gold, 10 achievement points, and some luck if it would finish your daily) since you finished the mini dungeon and didn't get credit.

Maybe they'll get the hint, if they get a bunch of support tickets where they'll have to manually make you whole, to fix their stuff.

I think what happened is they tasked an out of touch dev with making the entire system, and they just didn't understand that maintaining player choice involves having 12 objectives to choose from, not having a choice of what game mode 3 specefic objectives are supposed to come from. The support ticket idea above is pretty good.

Demons would be having a buffet of negative emotions in the forest tonight.

I can't even get started, I only get into instances where the event in the first room is stalled.

Except for one defence task the wvw dailys were usual business this week.
Today: kill 5 npcs, kill 3 players, kill 1 dolly - done

Yeah, sounds like a plan, the defense tasks are pretty awful but I'll take my chances there tomorrow (and for the weeklies too, yay for dolyak escorts! Incredibly boring but doable at least.) 

They need to hotfix in additional choices ASAP.
