Could we please have these town npc clothes?

Recommended Posts

At some point when we used to have Town Clothes as a seperate slot many years ago, I assume we would be getting more out of these amazing designed 'NPC exclusive' villager clothes.

Could ANet please reconsider to release these again? I would looooove to wear this... I've been wanting it so bad for over 11 years now..

Elegant dress

Noble dress

Villager corset

Noble jacket and pants/belts

The Villager Corset, and the one in front in the Noble Jacket image already exist. Those are the original town clothes for human characters, now available again as an outfit. It only looks like that on human characters though, because the Common Clothing outfit is one of the ones which changes completely based on your race as well as gender, each one gets their original town clothing. To get it you need to buy the Endless Common Clothing tonic from the Trading Post and then talk to a Black Lion Armorsmith who will turn it into an outfit.

I thought we had the long jacket in the back of the 4th image as well but I can't find it. There's a few things which come close like the medium Outlaw coat, or the Noble Count outfit but they're not exactly the same.

The first two dresses have been requested many, many times over the years. I'm not sure why they're not available. I know Anet have said some NPC appearances they want to keep seperate from players, but I doubt that applies to generic townspeople. My guess is these designs only work on humans, but if that's the case I'd love them to do something like the Common Clothing, Wedding and Chef outfits which change completely to give each race a unique style matching their culture.

The chest piece of the villager corset is different from the chest piece of the former town clothes.

The town clothing one is a corset, but it's a different kind of corset. The NPC one has two sets of lacing in the front and wide lacing in the back, and the town clothes one has clasps holding it together in the front and no lacing in the front or back. Plus, the NPC one has a flowery script pattern.

I'd like to see armor skins for some clothes the NPCs wear around Warrior's Crown. Backsmith Fairchyld and  Jodi, for examples.

Jodi's top, at least, is the same top as the human town clothes outfit. And the Blacksmith's corset is the same as the villager one someone else posted above, which I sooooo very much want.

Is it supposed to be in the Outfit tab? Because nothing happened.

the npc said it exchanged/upgraded all my stuff but I don't notice anything in my account. I still have the said tonic and no outfit.

The armorsmith exchanges the original town clothes into the tonic form. If you have the tonic, you take it to the Black Lion Exchange Specialist vendor and exchange it for the outfit there. The second tab at that vendor.

Having the NPC clothes even as outfits would be wonderful. They could even have it so it works like the wedding dress or chef outfit - the specific clothes change depending on race/gender. So a human female "work" outfit might look like Blacksmith Fairchild's, while that same outfit on a norn woman could be this.

Exactly! ANet could easily make most of the NPC clothes work in either use them as outfits or keep it as cultural armor parts, such as T1 - T3 armors.

Just make them armour pieces, not outfits.

Being able to mix and match them means more people would be interested in buying them.

With as much labor that is involved with armor sets (as opposed to outfits), I really don't see Anet spending their limited resources to do this for town clothes.

The fun part is that this work is already done. They designed the NPC clothes system to be fully compatible with the armor one from the beginning. The only difference is that those clothes exist in only one (gender+race) version, not as a set for all races and genders. If they decided to ease on the self-imposed restriction of "an armor set needs to exist for all races and genders", they could add them as soon as by the next tuesday patch. All it would need would be to add a vendor or unlock method.

But is the work already done as outfits or as armor sets?

I'm sure everyone would be filled with joy if a newly released outfit could only be used by a single gender of a single race. Easing on that self-imposed restriction is not happening.

Spoiler

(and it's a good thing)
