  1. Inter armor, high hp pool, heat therapy, crystal config, big boomer, nice healing skill (insane with AOD), great mobility, lots of hard / soft cc and if you go sword you can take the shield without consequence on dps cuz no power offhand (reflect and block). Holo is also the only spec with less dps loss when dodging because of EE. Even with rifle PBM, the survivability is pretty good. You play condi holo, which is not optimal, but still, survivability is by default really good because engi, you should try some other classes to compare. Holo has by far the most bruiser meta pdps build in the game, of course reaper is really good too but much lower dps, fb and scourges dominate condi meta builds. Btw, it's a thread about ele.
  2. Sad but true, and that is why ele feels like a 1hp class, cause you got two shots by everything on zerk/grieving/viper stuff, and your dps is not even better than holo, dh or scourge. Catalyst will probably change that because of defensive bonus stats, dmg modifiers (aura spam, hammer 3) and easy access to protection or resolution.
  3. Fun fact, elixir X is 90 sec cd with trait, and you have 50% chance to proc a better transformation 🙈
  4. True tho, and that is why it's good for catalyst to get a slow weapon. Swap attunments + fast casting skills on weaver sword feels like you need to spam x10 times more than other professions. I was taking scg example cause you often need to push multiple skills at the same time because of instant casts (f + weapon skills), but yea it's a bit trolling 😜
  5. Cool updates, Catalyst will probably become viable in everygame mode. I always though that core ele was the fun spec, weaver is great but it's a bit tricky for no reason, core ele is more fluid as you can switch element faster compare to weaver, it's smoother gameplay. Im glad we are back to basis. I dont get the piano argument. If you want to be effective, you need to play piano with every classes, even with PvE scourge you press more frequently f12345 buttons than ele and because it's instant cast, you also need to use it at the same time you use your weapon skills. That feels even more piano to me, even if it's easy to play (spamming rotation / no hidden skill). You can still afk staff auto attack if you dont want to play piano, at least with catalyst you got self quickness 🤷‍♂️

  7. Trapper rune is bad design and every spec doesnt have to be meta.

If you add tradable ascended gear in the TP, the value would probably be inferior to the exotic stuff, because drop rates are not so low, once people are stuff it becomes useless, and salvage brings almost nothing. Exotics worth something because of the ectos, runes, sigils, and ofc the mystic forge.
  9. This is the only reasonable suggestion. If it's too much for anet, nothing should be done.
  10. Shields are required in almost every build of every profession where it's available on a pvp/wvw environment. For most of the specs, it is well designed and brings lots of possibilities during a fight. If you limit your gaming experience to exclusive pve, it's more optional.
  11. Some tips to fight against hard throws in soloQ : - Stop after 3 loses in a row, cuz it wont stop, and will probably continue next days tho, so don't greed too much. - Stop when you see too much counterplay facing you, pvp population is small, you will face them again and again. If you can multiclass, do it. - Stop when you lose more than -14 per game, and you win less than +10 per game, it means you face people with lower ratings than you, happens offprime and when algorithm decide to kitten you. This has two consequences in soloQ : throws rating whatever you do, and bad quality matchups that brings lots of frustration. - Never play offprime. Especially if you are plat+. If you want to climb ranking, you need to beat people better than you, and if you play off prime you will face very low rated people or duoq farmers (that you will face everytime cuz you have the same rating). - Never stop a winstreak, if you go for 5 wins/10 wins in a row, just continue til the first loss. That works the same way than hard throws. - Try to understand what you can do better to carry more the next game, and stop thinking your allies are the only reason why you lose. If you want to carry in soloQ, I highly suggest to NOT play a class who rely on your team (like healer or roamer). Sidenoders/duellists are more convinient for that. - Don't leave, don't dc, don't forget to ready up, that kitten up your matchmaking. - Don't trash talk, it's pretty common to comeback after a really bad start or a full wipe, but never when someone afk or everyone yelling in /t. - Have fun. 🙈

  15. The sad part of the pvp amulet is the fact its an amulet. I think both wvw and pvp trinkets are pretty nice together. The pve amulet would probably have another effect that you wont be able to stack with the pvp one, and you will stay with your wvw ball alone. I think it's a shame, pvp amulet should have been a ring (except if the pve amulet stacks with the 3 other pve legy trinkets).

  17. I wanted hammer, didnt think we would ever have a hammer tho, cuz of mjolnir, but im glad we got it. I really hate the idea of an elementalist with a bow. However, i was expecting a ranged or at least hybrid ranged spec. Catalyst right now is utterly garbage, it's not fun, it's clunky, poor designed and sad execution. The fact catalyst is a failed spec has nothing to do with their weapon choice.
  18. But you did only 70 games, a season is about at least 120 games. Especially in soloq where the algorithm swings between hard throws and winstreaks. Also it depends when in the season you did these 70 games. The only things that matters is (or should be) the rating and the ladder at the end of a season.
  19. Nope nope nope. First of all, even if you go range, it's not a problem in end game pve content, it's even really OP. Having to stack with your team has nothing to deal with. Take a look on scourge meta build with 100% skills with 900 range, completly OP. You stack with your group, and still be able to hard kite ennemies with a constant high pressure (even bigger with condis). It's far more convinient against bosses like deimos, Ai Cms100, dhuum, qadim2pylon, sabir, slothasor etc etc... From a pure PvP / WvW point of View, be capable of ranged damage is the most important thing any spec could have in a meta build. Especially after the big dps nerf of feb patch, since you need constant pressure to down ennemies and counter kiting. A competitive build needs to be ranged like mesmers, rangers, renegades, nades engi etc, or sticky like heralds, guardians, warriors, thieves. The only good melee builds are the bruisers, like weavers and scrappers, and they are hard counter by any ranged specs. In endgame PvE, ranged is not mandatory but is far superior than pure melee spec, even more in open world, it's just better to go ranged (solo HP, world bosses, squad farms...). In pvp/wvw, most of the builds have a ranged options or tools to stick an ennemy, there's almost zero viable build without any ranged option, or at least high mobility skills. Ele has nothing, no good ranged options nor viable high mobility skills, and right now, hammer doesnt bring any of these.
  20. After all mechanist seems a really cool spec, fun to play, sometimes overtuned sometimes hard counter in pvp / wvw roaming, with a 41k cdps build on golem. Catalyst has almost nothing new or fun to deal with, and the worst thing ever is that you have a 43 to 46k dps benchmark on golem, so hard nerf incoming 😂
