  1. Doesn't really matter, because the Ranger is still going to have pets OUTSIDE of Expanions no matter what. The oldest ranger's have the most unique pet, but not from GW2....but the Hall of Monuments Rewards from GW1. And if you never played gw1, and never did the Hall of Monuments rewards....well your still going to be missing out on a couple of pets.
  2. In the American civil war, and many wars in Europe in the old days of warfare. The banner was the rallying point for all troops within the unit and allied forces. Forces rallied around the commander. Even if you have a hidden tag. Any "lone" body that sees a large group of allied dots, is going to gravitate towards that larger mass. Safety in numbers. So you can have your hidden tag. But if you run by an area that has a loner that can see you, your group will grow, whether you want it to or not.
  3. Yes, fill this map. I enjoyed being blocked from getting to the top by two gankers that wouldn't let me through for four hours. After four hours they stepped aside. I got a bit miffed. Told them next time they spend four hours blocking, they might as well keep doing it for the next four hours for wasting everyone's time. Hey...remember when siege was allowed in there, and they built 15 ac's at the top of the well, and nobody could get to the top because the amount of ac damage was killing everyone. Fun days.
  4. Sometimes the best tactics are the oldest. Spear. For everything you have in a straight line through their center, piercing the enemy body of forces with your own. Then turning 180 degrees and pulling back out. Destroy the tail. Focus on single target and burn it to ashes, one by one by one by one by one by one....It's what we had to do in the Edge of the Mist. It's what we all did in year one. Now all the commanders are doing is complicating things. "Circle here. Move there. Bomb at your feet. Dome....Move there. Double dodge...." Your dancing choreography is loud, belligerent, and tell the truth, only works 1/4 to 1/2 the time. Sometimes if you want to hit a nail with a hammer, you don't need to dance around the nail to do it. Just hammer it.
  5. EU has a better internet overall. They don't allow throttling, and the speeds are some of the best. Not compared to the North America, where we do have throttling, traffic jams, and non-standard connections from east to west, north to south.
  6. You ktrain in Edge of the Mist, i'll do what I did on the first day I went into Edge of the Mist. I'll pour that oil over your heads. Then we'll see how long it takes you to adjust your strategy of breaking into a tower. I had a lot of fun training ktrains in how to properly attack and break into a tower. I'll do it again. First day, first hour, I destroyed four zergs. Two separate zergs, but one of them 3x's over. You stood under the oil. You ignored the defender. The defender poured the oil, and you all went down standing under it. Not once. Not twice. Not three times. But four whole times. And I got called a troll...for defending a tower, because you all didn't know how to assault an objective.
  7. When you say Dagger, are you talking about the ranger's Sword/Dagger? If you find me in the game, I can show you the implementation. I used to train the rangers in Eotm in Sword/Dagger, and it has to do with the approach to the enemy target. If your using Sword/Dagger, the trick is not to go head to head against the enemy, but move towards the enemies "right" side of the body, your going to be moving to the left of the enemy body, when you activate the Dagger skills. The dagger skills were programmed to make you dodge "Counter-Clockwise" until your facing the enemies back, strangely we can trait to do more damage to the enemies backside arc, but only if we're holding certain weapons. It took several weeks to get the structure down. As your dodging to the enemies back side, you then could harrass the enemy with the sword, or if the enemy was too strong, jumped BACK and away from the enemy to break contact. You just rinse and repeat. Will say the build went to hell after the release of Staff Thief. The dodging became problematic, when the thief quickly re-engaged you, when they did the same thing wish shadowstep, and then kept pulverizing you into the ground with the staff while they perma-dodge. Probably reason why no ranger uses Sword/Dagger anymore.
  8. A ranger does not "stealth" and "teleport away. We have one skill, and we MOVE to another location while stealthed. The most dodges from a Ranger is with Sword/Dagger combo. Believe me, I played that a lot early on. Very few rangers ever mastered the Sword/Dagger, which to this day is very sad, because most rangers currently avoid that combo. But the correct Nourishment and Sword/Dagger and you'll be hard pressed to nail down a ranger without quite a few stuns.
  9. Jade Quarry used to have a saying in year one, "Never Hunt Alone."
  10. Core ranger's still use a glass cannon build, and it is still viable. If it's PvE, no problem. If it's PvP or WvW, you better get the first hit in.
  11. You have to understand this from a ranger's stand point. Why would you even have survived a 30k hit? Or have been completely destroyed in the second hit, which would have been beyond your own health threshold.
  12. When they nerfed my ranger, it's like having both arms tied behind my back, and told, "Ok...now try using the bow....but with more FEELING." I swear I wanted to cry in the last couple of nerfs.
  13. Any profession can be used to do what your being asked of you. However the majority of Ranger complaints is that we are relegated or shunted out of the main Zerg Squad. The majority of commanders literally state that rangers do not have the biggest and best DPS, nor do we bring a dozen boons to share or pump out every second to last throughout an entire battle. So we're told that we can "Run besides the zerg", and/or "roam". But being part and parcel of the zerg we're usually kicked, or given limited time in the zerg until a "better class" comes along that they make room for...which means you get kicked out. After playing ranger nearly 13 years non stop in Guildwars 1 and 2.....This mentality has not changed in the least.
  14. Some of the Rangers are using a current form of the Glass Cannon builds for it's class. There's nothing special about it. It maximizes damage with a few high profile condi's thrown in for good measure.
  15. Doesn't make any sense "not to discuss the survey with anyone...", you can't tell me that doesn't smell fishy.
  16. Strangely enough Ranger Pets in the original Guildwars, looked semi different depending on their final Evolution. Still, the Hyena doesn't come close to resembling the Hyena's I see on the Discovery channel. But maybe their just all natural Tyrian Hyena's.
  17. After six years, I'm at a loss on how to push ranger as a valuable valued class to most of my commanders in WvW. I'm literally at a road block. Nothing I can say or do changes their minds on how they perceive the class in any fashion.
  18. I had a real fun time with Point Blank Shot on third floor of SMC, and in Edge of the Mist. If you get near a ledge, I like having the option of pushing you over that ledge.
  19. Just checked my email this evening, and apparently NCSoft sent me an email of a Survey that i'm supposed to keep...secret? And the first few questions looked more like a fishing scheme than an actual Survey. When I did a reply, I was sent an error message....in Korean Hongul. Doesn't sound legit, when you put a comment in the body saying, "Keep this survey secret." So....yah, between the Korean which I don't speak, and it telling me to keep things secret i'm going to say no, I Don't Trust it.
  20. EotM emptied out after the legendary wvw backpiece came out. Believe me I know. After we attained the backpiece some went back to eotm and some stayed in EB and the Borderlands. I went back, but by then it was pretty much as you see it now. Empty.
  21. Hoelbrook has the Dragon Bash going on, and they may have travelled, 4th of July coming up this week.
  22. Some guilds and servers early on recruited players from around the Globe so.....any of you can do the same to fill voids in the time zones that you need body's.
  23. I'd like to see boons have Downtime. This permaboon sharing is beyond obnoxious. You can have your boons back after an allotted period time has elapsed. Lets call it BOON SICKNESS, and be done with it. They used to have this type of condition inside GW1. I wouldn't see why we couldn't have said condition in GW2. Treat it like a sugar crash. You had your up, then you'll have your sugar like crash, except with boons.
  24. An enemy that refuses to kill you while in downed state, and walks away. Same with a zerg that breaks in, farms you, then leaves without bothering to capture the location. Egotistical kitten garbage. Permaboons Siege no longer doing dmg to zergs running permaboons. Fools that get pissed at you for killing their downs with warclaw and bitch about how they didn't get their kill for a sigil bonus. Any commander that has a problem with Pugs, Scouts, and/or Rangers. Or any commander that has problem with Pug Ranger Scouts in general.
