  1. It's the final moat in the skyscale rift thingie (Ruler of the skys acheavements). The treasure hunter protocol of the jade bot considers them a treasure and shows it on the minimap.
  2. And now you will never have to bother with crafting, buying or stat-chaning another ascended heavy armour piece for as long as you play the game 🙂
  3. What happened to the banners wasn't as much a nerf, as it was a removal of stat increasing buffs from the entire game (spotter was changed too) and a failure to come up with something to fill that gap. This is the reason and will be addressed tommorow. As for maining: In my experience I spend most of the time in open world, where you can do the content regardless of build as long as you don't intend to solo group content. Groups make builds even less important as sustain becomes less important if there is someone who can revive you. So balance patches don't have much of an impact on this. As for instanced content, raids and strikes are a lot more about doing the mechanics than actual dps and boon uptime. Every proffesion has a viable build for those. The only time benchmarks and top tier builds come into play are the CMs and for those, just make an alt mech or firebrand, learn that one rotation and that's that. The rest of the time, play your main 🙂
  4. It's not so much that people aren't lfg for raids, it's more that raids reset on mondays and those with the intention to clear the raids have done so before the weekend. As for the kill proof, that is required as ...well.... proof, that you know the encounters and the group will clear the raids smoothly. Experienced lfg is for those who want a quick and smooth run. The training lfg is mostly empty because, for one, it was added a few weeks ago and two, raid training is mostly done within guilds and is therefore not advetised.
  5. To catch the true spirit of the game, it would have to involve a large group of people just standing around (probably staring at some kind of a wall), then an elder dragon shows up and they dogpile it and it dies in a few minutes. There wouldn't be much of a story, but the action could be nice if it was done well. Maybe do the entire boss train as a movie 😁
  6. They explained why there will be no player to player trading during the beta, but I can't find the article. It was mainly to avoid scamming, as some items have the same icons and such stuff. You can get all the tradable items from the ah. If you want to trade items directly, the mail fills that gap, but it requires trust and if you don't trust the other person, it's safer to not trade with them. For the few people who don't like this system, there is the overflow trading company discord where direct trades can be negotiated.
  7. The main mechanical change in the last patch was the removal of (somewhat unique) stat-based group buffs that the banners were the very definition of. I for one belive that the banners were holding warrior development back, because as long as they existed, warriors would always get a spot in a group, regardless of the rest of their skills and were therfore neglected. Now that the banners are gone, this neglect has become apparent and therefore the developers will have to bring warrior up to the current meta standards. As for the banners, there isn't much that can be done, since their mechanical identity has been renoved from the game. The only thing that can be done is to give them enough boons or conditions in order to make them viable, but not mandatory as they were before the change in order to avoid slavery 🙂
  8. The next step in the story will be a kestral rebellion in Arborstone, because most of the dialogue there consists of kestrals complaining how it all went to guano since we came 😆
  9. It's worth doing on character at least. You get one home instance garden plot where you can grow ascended herbs that are about 30s each and you unlock additional drops from random mobs.
  10. They are trying to teach us to not blindly run to a chest and spam "use," but to read what we are about to use and I don't think that's a bad thing 😁
  11. I think their design philosophy for eod was to have bosses with many mechanics for many phases and the last phase was just throwing all the mechanics at the players at once, so most boss fights devolve into a clusterkitten in the last phase.
  12. He's going to be the main antagonist in the next living world season, so they're making sure we know his motivation 🤣
  13. However you look at it, legendary armour would have to be time gated to at least a few months. And even if it were added it would still have to take a lot of effort, so people would complain about that. IF it were added, it would have some hard demands like doing every jumping puzzle and killing every world boss and meta event with additional acheavements like the teq and shatterer ones... If you want a low effort legendary armour, just do wvw. All you have to do basicaly is kill the camp guards every 10 minutes for about 15 hours per week for 22 weeks. It's as passive as it gets, is essentially pve and can be done with crap gear and build.
  14. I'm not sure there's going to be a soowon variant. They said there are going to be 6 variants per weapon: aurene and 5 dragons. I don't remember there being talk of a seventh at least according to the preview article. Even so, I doubt one would be required to save and not use a skin after unlocking it, especially not for a future unannounced collection.
  15. I bought the home instance node, when doing weapons for vision collection. It gives bouth the ore and dust for the weapons and was done in a few days.
  16. I never buy mithrill or elder wood, because I figured out theres better value to buy common unidentified gear. My process is thus: I have a character with 200 bag slots. So all bag slots unlocked and a 20 slot bag in each, two of which are invisible bags at the bottom. I have a copper-fed-salvage kit in the shared slot and a mystic salvage kit in the first slot. I park my toon in the royal pass area next to artificer and leatherworking station. I empty my bags and buy 10k gear. Split it into 125 stacks and place them into the invisible bags. I then start identifying the stack and salvage all masterwork and lower. When there are 10 or more rare/exotic items I use the mystic salvage kit on them. I keep an eye on free slots and deposit when there are not enough slots and when a material doesn't store because of lack od storage space i start crafting, switching between stations if wood or silk are full or I have too much luck, depositing full stacks in the bank when I'm not crafting. It takes about an hour, but it's worth it because of the t6 mats and ectos from rares/exotics that are about 1 in a 100 identified common gear. I even got a precursor once. I made a spreadsheet once for 20k gear. I sold rare greatswords and and salvaged all exotic gear below 60s. The odds category is for exotic gear above that threshold and potential insignias and inscriptions that might come from savlaging exotics. The prices were the instant sell prices at that time, because I was low balling them. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10E5qrsc0EfbuKnIY7tzwTlggV0_Zer6l20T_JkL8F9U/edit?usp=drivesdk
  17. You can craft AND identify/salvage at the same time. Just stand next to a crafting station, that also has bank access, while salvaging.
  18. Because prerendered video game trailers tell you what setting and quality of ingame cinematics you can expect, but nothing about the actual game.
  19. MMOs have existed for over 15 years as have dps meters. If the developers believed it to be a good idea, they would have integrated them by now.
  20. I don't think the game needs a dps meter. DPS only really matters in timed encounters and even there you can see if the dps is good enough by the timer not running out. Measuring an individuals dps would only resault in finger pointing and all the negativity that entails. If you are curious about your dps, use arcdps. Dps meters are delegated to third parties because most people are not interested in their dps and don't care as long as the boss dies in time.
  21. This one gives a nice burning effect. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Flame_Legion_Backpack
  22. They are not inaccessible, they are in high demand and therefore expensive. You can find cheaper runes that will do basically the same. As long as your dps is acceptable, no one will bother you, let alone ask you what runes you are using. Same can be said for vipers gear. You can easily go for sinister or grieving and still do good damage in raids. You don't need to be optimally geared for raids and strikes unless you want to do CMs.
  23. My guess is, they will remove precision bonus from spoter and banner, effectively nerfing condi virtuoso, because it will have to take more precision and lose on condi end expertise stats.
  24. If you want to complain about exploitation for real money, look at the retainer system in FFXIV. A retainer is basicaly an extra inventory the same size as your characters and it's the only way you can use the AH. They also function as gatherers, that you can send on a quest for a few hours to get extra its. However you are limited to how much stuff a single retainer can put on the AH (i think its about 20 items). You get one retainer for free and can rent additional ones for around 2€ per month. So, if you want extra bank storage and sell more items on AH, your subscription fee goes up.
  25. I just get to the first flag and semi-afk camp it for 10 minutes. The flags have a 1 minute respawn timer and give 10% task progress.
