  1. I think the actual problem I see or have with the mastery system is that there are a bunch of them that only have value in the maps they launched with. Mainly speaking about quite a few the HoT, S3 and of course the IBS masteries. Just saying that it would be nice if they could start spreading the wealth a bit more, designing maps and future masteries to be useful all over the game. The big ones like mounts and gliding is a perfect example of use anywhere, instead of something like the itzel or even ancient magic masteries(web slinger) that's only used in like 1 or 2 maps, which become...totally forgot about if you don't play those maps or are superseded by something tons better. Thinking about those IBS masteries, wish that system could be adapted to work on minions of other dragons at some point or just creatures that have magic in general. I do like the drizzlewood one though for its use in most things now. I don't have any problem with the regional xp gains going towards a specific set.
  2. As others have said...there are places where you can make it happen if that's what you need. For others crying foul for even the suggestion though, need I remind folks that technically...dueling in pve has been in the game since launch. It's called costume brawl. If Anet had the will, I'm sure they could design a similar system or even better, flesh out the one they have...just using class skills for the open world. If worried about balancing for duels was an actual worry, normalize it then using one of the modes...spvp preferably. Also, if pvper's and other's aren't bombarding folks with duel request now with all of the current options...I think it's kind of a stretch to think that would change so drastically if dueling were added in pve land and you had the option to flat out deny all request to the point that you didn't even know you got them...like almost every mmo with pvp and pve working together I've been in. As with disagreement with anything that has been added to the game, it's never as bad as you think it is or make it out to be. Largest example is all of the griping about mounts upon announcement, turns out...wasn't as bad as some thought it was going to be and actually turned out to be a highlight to the game in many regards.
  3. Um, are we going to gloss over the fact that this game world and it's franchise+ plus many more like it has always incorporated real world names for items, clothing, places and creatures. Bifrost and Mjolnir are prime examples off the bat for GW2. Hell, some of the characters are named after real people. Even a player has an anet created vendor character in game. A server was even named after a player. There are tons of things in this game and kitten near every rpg out there that just have names with no lore behind them at all except the lore you find in the real world. I guess people will find anything to complain about. Btw, nods to Ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs isn't anything new to Tyria. Warriors had similar armor set in GW1.
  4. Hope this doesn't come off as mean as that is not my intention, don't use the skyscale then? I think it's that simple. If this is a you thing...you have the option to make things harder if you want, why do you need the game to put restrictions on you if can do it yourself? People do it all the time in a multitude of areas...like for example, running raids in green or blue gear on purpose to increase difficulty. There's probably even folks who already specifically don't use mounts when exploring. That goes for every game that has them by the way, well...for the most part.
  5. believe there is one in Drizzlewood also.
  6. I hope they learned their lesson when building this expac. HoT was built in a way that will keep folks going there forever to build gen 2's. Events and meta's get done in HoT maps. You go to Elona and nothing gets done. I mean the meta's get done, but the regular old events fail all of the time because no one is there. No reason to be there. The events mean very little. Much like core I guess. HoT, Living story and others at least get you keys and proper currencies. I'm all for new legendaries in EOD, I just hope that the maps get designed in a way that keeps people going there and doing events into perpetuity.
  7. I voted having one weapon per e-spec, but having more than specializations per expansion...because I don't know if that's worded incorrectly or not, but I I take that at face value, it could mean anything including what we currently have also. We do get more than specializations per expansions, last time around we got mounts. With how the choice is written I wouldn't mind if one of the extra things this time around was every spec gets their 1 wep, but every core class got something like spears on land or even a new weapon entirely. If this voting selection actually meant more than one e-spec, then I think I would still stick with the same vote...it would throw a wrench in balancing that would be worse than prior versions, but I'm always for more choice in how the game is played. GW1 may have been a balancing nightmare for anet, but to players....that is what I think made the largest impact on why the game was so memorable. Theory crafting and build diversity was the heart of a game like that. Virtually a collectable card game in rpg form.
  8. Must be my luck then. The bad luck continues. Guildies seem to have the same problem when they go there. I check LFG and occasionally will see a fresh map advertised, however next to it will be 3/6, 4/6 and even 5/6 sometimes. I find maps heading into north all day conversely. Not a huge problem overall, just can't remember the last time I have been apart of taking Vloxen in particular. I have however been put into maps at the tail end of taking Petraj. I know both can happen at the same time or one before the other basically amounting to a crap shoot, but it seems that even my map placement rng is no different than my loot rng...terrible below zero in my favor or against it rather.
  9. Lately I have been seemingly unlucky in finding a fresh map here. I think this actually started when the map closing mechanic was implemented at the end of the North Meta. The map closes and throws you into another map...which always seems to be a map already in progress. It might just be my luck, but as I see it..a kind of bad luck. When thinking about other metas that are similar, pretty much only Dragonstand comes to mind. Difference with that one, it doesn't throw you into a map in progress because the meta is timed..so you are almost always likely to begin new meta cycle on a fresh map. Drizzlewood prior to north being added acted very much like most metas, the silverwaste's and hot metas to name a few. Meta done, loot chest for a period until timer runs out..map resets and you go again from the beginning. No upfront need to swap instances. With this map closing mechanic, you are put into a new one. I bring this up, because lately I haven't been able to be in maps taking the early points like Vloxen. Anyone else like or dislike this set up or am I the only one who ultimately doesn't like this map closing at the end of North Meta?
  10. I could see Open World pvpish things happening here. Not dead on pvp mind you, but in the form of 2 competing events and in the form of dueling.Competing events: Similar mission in GW1....in factions where two groups start off split, run through different events meeting in the middle, feeling like a race. Many meta events already in play have many lanes....even triple-trouble. Tweak that mindset to actual competition. Dueling: I have zero problem implementing this in an actual player to player combat system because it already exist in the open world....in costume battles. What. did we all forget that that was there? Otherwise....there are tiny flashes here and there of open world pvp...one I experienced...probably 2 days ago. It came after a failed Drakkar event. I actually never even heard that this could happen where the area becomes a free for all. Never heard anyone speak of this, guild or otherwise.....I just didn't know it could happen. I believe something like this happened in HoT also, (I could be wrong) with Sylvari players. Further... open world pvp, I'm fine with where it is....in a mode of it's own. An entire mode. Entire. I do however wish the maps were more like the open world maps.
  11. Honestly, I could care less whether they add rentals. They've done it for festival events...why not core? But these long explanations or reasons why they should don't really hold water with me. Just do it. Why don't they hold water? Well, If you couldn't get to an event because others get there and blast the event quickly, you having a rental or having to go and get you a rental isn't going to assure you get credit. If events like that exist, which I assume they do...(kill mob events?), then that event is a lost cause anyway. If they go down that easy, mount or no...you weren't going to make it anyway, you'd have to be first on the scene.....and core Tyria is littered with waypoints...worry about getting those before you worry about doing events you weren't going to get to anyway. Worried about doing dailies? Do other dailies. There are dailies that you can't do anyway unless you are certain levels. For the ones that basically require you to be 80...guess what? Go get your mounts anyway...The + in all of this....the real benefit to rentals in core maps, it's further advertising to free players to buy expansions to get the real deal.
  12. My suggestion: Anet could sell a Legendary quest package in the gem store for what the items go for now. The quest ends with an abundance of lore to go with the selected gathering tool. The added bonus...instead of an extra glyph spot...give it a teleport to a room to hidden riches.....basically a room of rich nodes that is once a day like the home instance or guild hall. There...you have some lore, some minuscule bonus and a purple item in slot that isn't really better than anything currently available. Then again, are we just going to skip over Exotic and Ascended versions? Nevermind then.
  13. Biting off more than I can chew Lag contributes more often than I like, so missing a dodge to get spiked... Lack of skill contributes more often than I like, so missing a dodge to get spiked... Pvp-all forms-see reasons 1-3 Pve-all forms-see reasons 1-3 afk deaths are a thing falling deaths are a thing Pretty much that's my time in GW2, or any game for that matter.
  14. One concern...um, I would like think that I'm a practical person...what will this do to the economy? Will this cause more people to craft legendaries? Will this cause those who craft them for personal use to stop crafting multiples beyond say a dual wielder? What I mean is, are plans in work to give folks something to do after they have made a legendary for every slot possible? I assume a huge part of the economy is based on crafting items for alts. Will this also potentially put a huge dent in ascended crafting also? Hmm, I don't care if fractals, raids, pvp and wvw hands out ascended like candy....the crafting still has a place currently no? If you no longer have to gear any alts because now you own three sets of armor...that has to have an impact right?
  15. I wish OP, but won't get my hopes up considering we just had POF....in elona....with the most famous sin armor(vabbian), and got nothing....nadda...nil. Not even a nod at Ancient armor, unless you count that oufit with all of the swords poking out...which I guess is along the lines of GW1 ancient armor for war. The armor sets to me overall have just been bad...I don't know if it's just lack of vision or what.....the armor sets we have, kind of have been generic for the most part.
  16. My name game is and has always been trash. I also tend to use the same names across many different games, at least the base characters I create and then branch out from there. I grab names from literature, comics, t.v. and movies, other games and mythologies from every culture. I have characters with titles in their name. So unoriginal I am. Just a few I guess:Pax Payne- Charr engie whose kits are called packs, and is also a verb that delivers pain. Originally dual wielded pistols and is based of a detective named Max. Kind of a walking entendre.Feydakin Broly- Charr warrior ofc- Just a fan of Dune and Dragonball. Tomax Amot- Human thief whose name is spelled the same backwards and forward. Worships Lyssa, so copied pasted from G.I. Joe's Crimson Guard.Laeddis Dom- Human rev, general nod to Leonardo DiCaprio who was the rev mauled by a bear, Laeddis in Shutter Island and Dom in Inception. Lor Danas- A name I use in every game...based off a name I always liked Elora Danan from the movie Willow. Here, he's a sylvari guard. List is too long, but you get the jist...name game is weak.
  17. Instead of racials, I'd rather have class specific things. I've never liked racials in games at cap...upon creation maybe or for story elements, but at cap...I don't want to be excluded because I chose a different race. Why even have that as an option... purposefully hindered? Class specific things seems more reasonable to me. Certain classes can unlock doors, find hidden pathways, random alternate routes, discover hidden chest or bosses. Could make the effect totally random each time in a instance. Things of that nature. Example, a fractal...upon entering a random class is chosen not known to the party...someone in that group could have access to hidden or locked places..or none of them since you can't have every class. Just the tip of this sort of thing not a full fledged idea, could have all sorts of addition non-combat class related mechanics that interact with the world.Class quest is something I've wanted, but i digress. When it comes to armor, why have we not received more Cultural Armor? I would be ok with would be class themes though if they could implement another sort of elite spec system in addition to what they have now. By themes I mean that the spec is called something different per race and is more or less just for story...a counterpart system like SWTOR. Example, Jedi Knight=Sith Warrior and further specced out to be a Jedi Guardian/Sith Juggernaut or Jedi Sentinel/Sith Marauder.
  18. I think I've lost interest in making these, not even because of the cost or for what convenience they had for a short time before being obliterated by templates and such, it's all about the faction provision tokens. All of the other mats I can get by playing the game basically, but having to go craft or buy some items to hit a vendor...and to remember to do it daily...not to my liking. I'd even rather get them as rewards for actually playing content then having to do that tedious little step. Granted, I think each rune only needs like 50per...so 300per 6, at 25+ a day(29 is max i think), so not that long for this step...I'd just rather be doing something else like playing dungeons, fractals, metas for them or something instead of them. Already have too many tedious little things that I do basically everyday I'm in game, didn't need another one.
  19. I dig many of the suggestions here, but am going to make my own suggestion...Something whimsical, at least at first glance, but horrifying and demonic at it's core. If it's a forest or swamp, I'd like it to be an all the time "night" map. Something like a cross between Zangarmarsh over in WOW with it's giant mushroom forest and a larger version of The Grove coupled with elements of TD or AB. There's that story event in Malchors Leap where that king( I think anyway, can't fully remember) is having a party, but then you break the illusion and everyone is actually a dead zombie minion. I could use a whole map of that element, but I want it to be huge...and like others have said here...have it operate like Hot Metas or the Silverwaste. Essentially a dream-like map. One large glamor. A fake out dimension...run by a trickster demon(could be a good time to start re-introducing demons to Tyria). Or...Fairies....ok, rewatching the Magicians..sue me.
  20. GW2 is rough in general when it comes to shoes...or I should say when it comes to what looks good to me. I don't even venture into certain races simply because shoes look terrible on them, speaking about sylvari in particular...don't get me started on how distorted they look overall in many armor sets.I find myself regulated to very few that I use over and over again(don't look good or weird clipping with leggings). Female characters I find are easier on the eyes, even the terrible ones have better proportions imo than the male versions. If I could change or suggest anything to anet when it comes to armor, better looking shoes is always at the top of my list, followed shortly by Weight Removal or Requirement(shift/move the armor numbers elsewhere or remove them and bring on something like enchantments to replace that aspect, could even theme them...magic wards for spells and physical wards for, well for physical damage), and ofc additional legendary skins/skins in general.
  21. Before this past year I probably played it a few times a week and even more so during season breaks. Now I never even que because it seems like it takes forever to get in.Huge question I've always had about the mode..........WHY A GIMPED WANNABE MOBA MAP? It has a likeness to gvg maps in GW1, but ends there. If they were going to make a mode in the vain of MOBA's, why not go all out...3 lanes, towers+their own spin. Then they never return to upgrade the mode to something better, no new maps. No new heroes. New reward tracks. Actual lures to get folks in. Just another "we tried that once and it didn't work immediately, so now moving on" motto that Anet seems to have been using since launch. Sad really. Some of these ideas they throw in game could turn into something if nurtured correctly instead abandoned shortly after implementation. Ever grow a plant of any kind?
  22. While there are tons of things to do, many things have become pointless for me at this stage. Mainly because doing anything the 100th time for nothing just simply gets old. I don't even get great exotic drops in year 7. Everything I have are things I bought or crafted. That doesn't satisfy anything for me. Spvp has been really the only thing that has given me my "oh wow, that just happened" moments where other games give me that in multiple ways. 1 Precursor drop in 7 years. I've never had a nice infusion come my way. Champion bags had a decent avenue of acquiring some of the newer exotics that actually drop, but they killed the farming of them essentially years ago, you know...the few that drop from certain champ types of which we initially thought we supposed to be like the green weapons in GW1.Long story short...just an unrewarding experience these days. Sad that the game is basically, work towards buying items on the tp.
  23. How to cause problems in your mmoLock stat upgrades behind stupidly expensive gear I dont think you understand how much your proposal goes against anets core vision for the game. Their goal was to bring people together not rip them apart.Making an or several expensive exclusive stat increases behind items like these encourages end game segregation. Imagine going to raid or fractal t4 and being told no because you dont have legendary armor/ weapons / and runes....... or are missing one of the three. No thanks... i dont support your ideas. Reading Rainbow, just take a look, it's in a book....yada yada yada. Look closer at what I said. I'm not suggesting stat increases to power/condi/vit/prec/ or anything like that. I'm suggesting increases to stuff like what enrichments do. You know, reward track increases, wvw xp increases, magic find, karma find, gold find, xp find or something new that drops a bag or materials. Do people segregate now with the way amulets work? No. Thats not the purpose of runes and sigils so i still dont agree. NoThere are plenty of other sources for the things you listed that everyone can obtain in one method or another with some moderate work. Guess you don't remember magic find gear and luck sigils, sure they removed them and placed magic find mainly onto the account sans the amulet enrichment infusions. The purpose of runes and sigils is anything they want them to be. It doesn't or didn't have to be anything I listed. Could have been something new. Not my job to come up with the fun stuff. They are altering classes for their new found flavor philosophy, could have delved into something fun here with runes and sigils instead of offering almost nothing really. Possibly won't even add convenience or a dent in the pockets worth losing.
  24. Yeah because hiding stat upgrades behind a few thousands of gold is a great idea for this game. Well, thousands of gold isn't my problem. I didn't design it that way. Need something to work towards. Besides, they would be bonuses to things no one gives a hoot about, more flavor than anything. Also, if you are a min/maxer...actual stats are locked behind hundreds of gold...agony+stats anyone?
